U haul has been around since I was a kid, I’m 58 years old now. They have truck n trailer rentals and there not perfect at customer relations, and who cares! Just get your truck or trailer and quit complaining people, it’s a great service for moving and doing yourself stuff. Hug your U haul dealer, and say thank you and smile!
Worthless! I get that there are people of low intelligence to deal with, but to tell me that you cannot count (overbooked) and that in my frustration, I dont have to get hostile. Then you hang up on me instead of provide customer service. Then you do nothing to fix this when we call back, saying that the responsibility is on us to make it better?! Too much game in town to worry about you.

I made my reservation 30 minutes before picking up a trailer at this location. As I arrived, I received a call starting that they didnt have the trailer that I need so I paid extra for a larger trailer. I specified that Id need to return the trailer after hours the following evening. The blonde-haired guy with the man bunn said that it would not be a problem. I picked up the trailer on the afternoon of 9/8/2021 and returned the evening of 9/9/202. My receipt says that I returned the trailer on the morning of 9/11/2021.I was charged for two full days and an after hours drop off fee that was not disclosed. I was charged more than 2 1/2 tubes the original quoted amount.I called the manager at this location and the women was as rude as could be before hanging up on me. Avoid this place!!!
Most unprofessional experience Ive had in a while. I scheduled a hitch installation online and called a few days later to ask a question. They had been neglecting to call me to reschedule the install, but I reluctantly rescheduled.Two days before the new installation date, they call me again to reschedule, claiming that FedEx lost my hitch. Turned out that was a LIE. I expressed my disappointment with the third installation date, and she offered to send the hitch to another location that had earlier availability. I was floored, but again, I accepted the compromise and waited for them to call me back with the time and date.Three hours pass and I call them back. No one has done anything regarding my reschedule. Im normally very understanding of the service industry, but I was losing my patience. I give them a deadline of 3 more hours, and they call me back within 30 minutes with the time and date.At this point, the lack of reliability - and the simple lack of honesty - had me floored. If they were this consistently incompetent, then what should I expect for the next installation date? I took a refund and called Lakewood Ford. They hooked me up with their subcontractor* for a better deal anyways, so I guess it turned out okay. Just a bit closer to our vacation than I would like.*Ballews Hitch Truck & RV on S. Ive been coming to this U-Haul for over 5 years and you would think in that time they would fix the customer service but NO!!As usual getting propane you can wait out there for over an hour and nobody will come out and help you have to go in, and today I went in and was told propane doesnt work today as 3 employees were sitting behind the counter smiling and giggling, I guess I interrupted their joke time and it makes complete sense why they have a 2.8 for reviews

Horrible experience and we will no longer use UHaul again. We ordered a guaranteed trailer from this location, further from our house, because the other locations were not guaranteed. When we arrived, the associate said they didnt have one available but the one we saw outside was reserved for someone else. The exact one we ordered. They then sent us to Parkland since they had one, again even further away from home. Get to Parkland and no, they dont have one. Parkland thankfully has customer service and called other stores to reserve one for us. I cant give enough praise to them but this Lakewood store is the reason UHaul will not receive our business or our familys as they were helping us and witnessed the terrible interaction from this location.

I had the very unfortunate experience of my Uhaul truck breaking down. The truck had to be towed, but Uhaul roadside assistance and this local store made sure I was taken care of and did not charge me extra fees. I was nervous to rent here because of the negative reviews, but I received quality customer service and communication every step of the way. Thank you, Uhaul!
If I could give such a really bad rating worse than a one star!!I don’t normally give bad reviews bc I understand people have their days but omg!!!! This place! My husband and I went there today and experienced such rude customer service from the general manager named Andrea!! She kept cutting him off and talking over him when we were genuinely just asking questions on a quoted price bc this is our first time renting a U-Haul. If we weren’t in a rush, I would’ve set her straight then and there but I’ll be going next week by myself to deal with her rude behavior. There is absolutely no reason why you should be rude to customer who is trying to co-operate and make your job easier. I had to complain to her other employees about her and they had told me another lady came the day before and went off on her as well about her attitude. Extremely unprofessional!!!
After 25 years of renting from U-Haul this will be my last time. They do not care about their customers. I rented a moving truck for 2 days but needed it longer. I called to add more time and they said no problem. Then i get a phone saying they reported the truck stolen. Unbelievable. I will be filing a class action lawsuit against U-Haul. Anyone who has had terms misrepresented or been decieved by U-Haul can join. Terrible company.
Just tried to get a quote, was very leery after seeing all of these horrible reviews. They refused to give me a firm price quote over the phone without first giving them all of my personal information. No thanks...
Rented a 4X8 trailer. Attendant slammed the trailer hitch into the bumper cowling and nearly broke it. Did not tighten the hitch properly and I had to stop beside the road to adjust. Not a great experience.
BEWARE OF SURPRISE CHARGES! Made a reservation online for Friday morning thru Sunday afternoon, was quoted a price of ~$193 before add-ons. Didnt learn until Friday morning AFTER pickup that we had to return it by 8am on Sunday to avoid the fee for the extra day. We didnt have time to go look elsewhere so we kept using the van. Tried to resolve the issue at this Uhaul when we returned the vehicle. The employee we first spoke to tried to help us out, but after a days-long back-and-forth with the manager we were refused. Ended up paying an extra $60 because they didnt disclose their cut-off time online. Had I known ahead of time I might have gone with another company, which is probably why they werent up-front about it. Van worked well for what its worth.
The employee informed me that the truck was FULL TANK. I took a picture of the tank as I got inside the van as proof that the tank was NOT FULL. I returned it and was charged for GAS AFTER I FILLED IT UP MORE THAN HOW MUCH IT HAD BEFORE I USED IT. THESE EMPLOYEES USE THEIR VEHICLES AND CHARGE THE NEXT CUSTOMER WHO WILL RENT IT. PLEASE BEWARE.

I stopped to refill my propane tank, waited over an hour. Asked one of the employees if he could help, he said “I don’t have time” I said is there anyone else that can help me, didn’t even get a response. Even before that I had to stand in line just to be seen for over 20 minutes. I watched people leave the line to go somewhere else. I hate going to this place, and I promise to let others know not to come to this place. That’s how bad my experience was.
It’s 7:03pm, I arrived at this location at 12:30pm for a 1:00pm wiring harness install that I was told would take “1-2 hours.” I dropped my vehicle off and went to do the some shopping. I returned after 2 hours and my vehicle was still sitting in the same spot that I left it. I decided to let my ride leave assuming that it wouldn’t take much longer to finish. After 5:20pm my vehicle was final pulled into the service garage! I tried to be patient and understanding. I told them that I was very disappointed that I had to wait this long for a service that was scheduled for 1pm! I could have come at another time if this was the case. I am a very busy person and I have other responsibilities that I could have taken care of. The clerk apologized and said that they were “unusually busy today and that they did not expect it to take this long to service my vehicle.” Long Long Long story short, it is now 7:10pm and my vehicle is still not ready! 🤦🏾♂️ Last time I spend I dime here...
If I could do negative I would. The best hole time this woman was talking down to me and I’m doing questions to clarify because I do not assume especially when it comes to business. I was on the driver list for the uhaul and the woman told me I needed to be the main driver. I’ve been an avid user of U-Haul especially with the drops and she was rude, condescending an belittling. How do you nonstop put someone down for verifying and just making sure? How do you put someone down when your job is just to rent out moving gawking equipment!!!
I use this store a lot for work. They have a great staff that is friendly and tries to get me taken care of quickly. They usually have the vehicles and supplies I need consistently. Great store!

This place is awful. Not the location per say, but the people running it. They are run by Karens who want to complaint and are not helpful. One of them called me and harassed me for not picking up my rental on time, when I had reserved it for 24 hours and paid for. She was rude and ghetto on the phone and in person and cancelled my ordered without my consent, after she told me that she wasnt going to cancel it.Do not go here, unless you want to deal with ghetto people who act like Karens.
The employee that help me was very pleasant and seemed like she was happy to do her job. I dont remember her name but she is a short blond hair, with an east coast or southern accent and is a military wife. Im a 64 200 pound male and had another male friend with me. we were offering to hook the trailer up ourselves but she refused and sat down on the wet ground in the rain to hook up the chains and lights. this location is right across the freeway from Fort Lewis military base.

The workers there were awesome and doing there best today for being such busy day. However I ordered a 15 ft uhaul truck online and when I went to get the truck today. No joke.. at the same exact time another family rented the same exact truck. When I went out to get my truck after the walk through someone was sitting in it. They were waiting for keys while I had the keys already! It was such a mess. The worker that was trying to help situate both parties was frazzled and were not including what was going on. I tried to explain to her I could get the smaller truck if they had one and she never answer my question. We then just went through another worker and they found another truck at a nearby location so we took that one and allowed the other family have the 15 ft truck. It was hectic and took an hour however the online service failed to make the job easier for the customer and the workers.
Terrible service, truck wasnt ready for the time it was reserved, their $50 usd reservation guarantee was not respected.
First of all the time I made my reservation was changed without my permission, the parking is incredibly tight (and I used to have a CDL A) to the point that when removing the rental I repeatedly got out to check and calculate the space I had available before driving again, you have to park across the street at Dennys then walk back to your rental, the price hikes up after you rent it so the quotes $25 becomes then $48.29 then another $45 then...etc you get the picture.To their credit when asked the employee was willing to help remove vehicle from tight parking space. Employees also use gloves and look committed to keeping a clean store as well.I rented a pickup truck at 4:15pm until closing without understanding how much I would be charged or for how long.To be truthful I thought the $48 I initially paid covered the rental and I planned to be finished at closing or shortly soon after.When driving this unknown vehicle that I dont have my Bluetooth attached to my mom picked up my phone and the representative wanted to know why I had not arrived and I didnt understand why it mattered so much because I assumed if they werent there I would just have to return it without assistance electronically.I mention this because in the state of Washington its illegal to answer your phone manually and drive and I dont understand how the U-Haul representative expected me to answer the phone when it was happenstance my mom was with me. Had I been alone as I told the representative theres no way I could answer.Upon arriving to return the pickup I am told that because I did arrive before closing at 6:45pm (I arrived around 7:06pm) I will be charged an additional $20 while I was not aware of this charge prior to that I still felt it was acceptable until she continued with that because you did not arrive at 6:30pm that I would be charged $250 as a fine on top of a late return fine and thats when I decided to dispute the charge because I had not been informed of ANY of this, didnt see this in my paperwork, and felt taken advantaged of. She mentioned that it was because another client had a reservation and because they couldnt meet it that it would come out of my pocket.This is when the representative was rude and angry at me for not returning and started spouting, I told you this before, e-mailed that etcI had gone inside the store to make a reservation at around 12pm, never gave my email or checked it, was never told to check I just trusted that they handled things and called to confirm before 4:15pm that everything was fine.I dont feel they set the proper expectations for their customers-why tell us things when its too late?If I had brought my mom initially as planned shes disabled and walking across the street would have been impossible. Nor would I feel comfortable leaving her alone in that sketchy area.I, myself, didnt want to waste my time waiting to legally cross the street and abandon my car to Dennys parking as directed.The representative promoted J-walking but across 4 or 5 lanes thats waiting to become roadkill.I dont understand how U-Haul rents things now but to pay that much for 2 hours...?To not properly explain the cost involved makes me sure that I have no intention of using this service again.Its not worth it, it now feels like a scam.
Terrible service. They over charged me and had to go through customer service just to get a partial refund that they didn’t mention would take 5 business day. They really don’t care for their customers at all and run a shady business
Worst customer service experience in recent memory. Disgruntled vehicle check in guy left my wife very upset. They overcharged us due to mi “error”, but I worked for a rental place waaaay back and manipulation looks the same as error, which slides through to profits if it isnt caught. I called Corporate and got a run around, then days of waiting, then a call from angry manager at the actual branch in question. She said she had no answer but would “investigate” by reviewing previous rentals of the truck I used. I call Corp again insisting it doesnt make sense to have a possible fraud investigated by the team in question. They put me on hold and transferred me back to her without warning. What in the beard plucking world is going on at Uhaul?? Folks dont walk away...run!!!

It is a U Haul rental site. They have lots of trucks available. I walked in, about 20 minutes later I drove away with the truck I needed. Staff was helpful and friendly. Vehicle was a rental so, not pristine but in good condition and clean. No issues with the vehicle or the rental. I would rent here again.

I hate this place. Everytime I go to get propane it takes a half hour. The employees are always high. I mean.. I get it if you need pain remedy but these guys are blazed stoned like they got done hitting the bong in the back.Yes... the customers can smell it on you.And then there are never enough employees working. Hire some more people so that more than one customer can be helped at a time.Fix your propane help doorbell. ...Or take it down if people need to go inside to get you.Youd think just noticing out the window a customer is there would be a clue they need help with propane. But no... Gotta walk all the way inside and summon the people that just sat there watching you wait for 5 solid minutes.
Wish it was possible to give zero stars. I made multiple reservations with the U-Haul Lakewood location. First one was for a 26ft truck which was switched to a different U-Haul location and then cancelled altogether because they didnt have any 26ft trucks either. Interestingly, I found a truck in Olympia no problem. As compensation U-Haul sent me a $50 certificate.The second reservation was for a 6x12 storage trailer, but when I got to the location, my reservation was for the wrong size (5x10). I was charged for this trailer even though it never left the lot. I went to a different (Parkland) location to find the 6x12 trailer and gave them the certificate for payment. A few days I have a charge pending for the Parkland rental. So fed up with U-Haul!

If zero stars was an option, it would describe this place perfectly. We are moving in about a week so my s/o went to ask about what we would need to tow another vehicle. They had him park in a restricted area, were very rude, the girl inside didnt even greet him, she was more concerned with her cell phone than helping him, and on all accounts he received no service unless he asked.

Customer service at this place is awesome. Only issue I had was that there wasent a proper waiting area. Just a window seal to sit on. We ended up going to Denny s across the street to pass the time.
Dont go here! After renting my 15 foot rig, doing the move, and turning back in 2hrs ahead of schedule, checked in and thought all was good I hot a voice mail asking where our truck was?, as if moving wasnt hectic enough!!, tried calling and no answer, called uhaul customer service and they kept switching me around to every other person trying to figure out why I was charged, why I have receipts but no record of truck being checked in, so for fear of being charged for a 2nd day rental fee, I had to drive back 60 miles round trip to the rental shop to get a in person answer and make sure I wasnt going to get charged again, oh did I mention they dont answer the phones!!! Very poor service definitely wont be back!!
Called to ask if they had a trailer hitch in stock... the lady was a robot and not very helpful. After insisting that she taking all my information she was finally able to answer my question... no, and there was no guarantee it would be installed by my deadline.I was later referred to Ballews Hitch Truck & RV who were nice, a bit cheaper, and had no problem installing it two days later (u-haul said it would take 7-10 days)

Made a reservation in store for a 26ft uhaul for 2 days plus an appliance dolly and moving pads. Glad I checked the paper when i left because it was for a 15ft uhaul. They corrected it after I walked back in. Day of pickup I grab the uhaul. Its smelled heavily of cigarettes and the cab had ash all over. I asked them if it was ok to smoke since I didnt want to be blamed and they said yes. I unhappily took my uhaul. They charge $.99/mile for in town moves so I was pretty mad when I open the back and theres no appliance dolly. Just the regular dolly and moving pads. I make it work for my move. I end up returning the uhaul the next day after hours. The app is a mess to get to work. Get it returned regardless. I later check to see a pending charge of over $400. Call the store which takes forever to get a person on the line and they transferred me to customer service where I again wait. After asking why I was charged so much, customer service contracted the store and I ended up getting hung up on. I had to get back to work so Im currently on hold again but this time customer service said the uhaul store charged me $160 for a dolly, and charged me another $40 for the dolly I never received. Ive been on the phone for over an hour now between these calls trying to get this fixed. Cost should have been $79 for 2 days of truck, $50 for the mileage, $56 for the insurance and $10 for using the in truck dolly. Plus taxes and fees a little over $200. Instead I got charged over $400. I feel bad for the people that dont regularly check their Bank charges and could miss something like this. I will neve do business with this store again. Take your business somewhere else, even another store.
Unbelievably rude. Rent from ANY other place. Even when you call the Uhaul Corporate line to complain nothing happens.I rent from this location regularly. On this rental the general manager, who is a horrible rude and condescending person, refused to rent to me because I didnt have my cell phone on me. Not that I didnt have a number, or that I didnt have required identification, ONLY because I didnt have my cell phone on my person.I told her that I am a disabled vet and that I was going to have to hobble a mile home just to get my phone. She basically told me to get walking.Uhaul doesnt care....will be taking my business to another company.How many bad reviews does it take before uhaul realizes there is something wrong at this location?
Scheduled a hitch install one week in advance. Two employees called to confirm two days and the night before the appointment. When I arrived 45 minutes early to drop off the vehicle I was told that they had overbooked and would have to reschedule my appointment. I had to arrange rides from and back to the business and rearrange plans for my weekend for no reason. Take your business somewhere else if you value your time, because this place wont.

I made a reservation to pick up a 15 foot truck in DuPont for 24 hours and they confirmed the order. 2 hours before the scheduled pick up, they called me to say that DuPont didnt have any trucks and that I needed pick up in Tacoma. When I asked if they could move a truck to DuPont (something a decent business would do) they said no. An hour before the scheduled pick up time, they called again and asked if I could return the truck 6 hours earlier than scheduled because someone else had scheduled a 15 foot truck. I needed the truck for the full 24 hours and told them I could not accommodate. Before confirming orders, a business should ensure that they have enough trucks at the desired location. I will not be using uHaul again.
They are always willing to work with me even when I’ve wanted to book at inconvenient times. I’ve called them enroute to the store asking for a tow dolly and by the time I get there 15 minutes later it is waiting out front. While I pay inside an employee is hooking it up to my truck and I’m ready to drive off. Service doesn’t get any better.
Worst customer service experienced. I placed an online order/reservation to install a car hitch for an early morning appointment. 15 minutes prior to closing the night before my morning appointment, they cancel my appointment and rescheduled it for a later date that I am unable to attend. I cannot get a hold of a representative for this Uhaul site and having a hard time dealing with customer service. They have not given me my refund after dealing with them. Appointment was set for over a week and they change and cancel my appointment the night before right before they close. I will not be doing business with this store ever.

I rented a van for two days but they charged me for three days. I have never been charged extra days when Ive put the key in their drop box the night before. Now they feel compelled to rip people off.

RUDE employees. This location use to be the best. I have used them for decades. But the two experiences I had recently, were very disappointing. I rented a 26 truck in January, and a 24 truck in May. It is a very busy location, and obviously understaffed.The January experience was mayhem at check-in. The people right before me apparently did not like the truck they were being rented, so they got a newer one, and I was stuck with their very old, unsafe truck to drive. The way the truck sounded and responded to acceleration and gear shifting, I was afraid the transmission was going to drop at anytime. AND it was irritating that the gas tank was nearly on empty. I am a single female renting alone, so I felt discriminated against in that my concerns and complaints did not matter. The lot was chaos. Trucks were blocking other trucks, leaving the wait time long and employees in a rush. I voiced a concern about the near empty gas tank. I rushed to the nearest gas station as I pulled off the lot onto the street, because the gauge dropped to empty immediately. I did not think the truck would make it mechanically either.I decided to give this location another try in May, just in case they were having a bad day last time. This check-in was even worse. A very, extremely RUDE woman was the only one working the early morning rush-hour. She was stressed and curt. She bit the head off of a Japanese man who had limited English. It took almost an hour to get my truck. SAME situation with the fuel level. I told her this is ridiculous; as a renter I expect a clean truck with enough gas to get my job started, not having to race to a gas station as I leave there. She literally told me, Its not worth our time and a waste of our money to make sure there is gas in the truck. We just give them to you the way they are returned to us. She had also told me she was going to charge me an extra day, as my hour of pick-up was a little off from anticipated return. She did not tell me this until all the paperwork was complete, or I would have gone elsewhere, or adjusted my hours at least. I told her I will never rent from here again. She said she didnt care. The quality of truck was better this time, as was the return. I was fuming mad about this experience, but they did adjust the extra day rate off my final bill, for unknown reasons.I am sad this place has gone downhill. Customer Service is what is needed to survive this economy. This store is located by the Military bases, so I am sure they will remain busy regardless of bad reviews. I just hope they are not treating our military personnel with this level of rudeness.

Made a reservation for uhaul in puyallup, they called 3 minutes before pickup saying I had to go to Lakewood. Ok, not their fault, but the two hours it took to check out my truck in Lakewood is. Ive never seen a more disorganized staff. All in all picking up from Lakewood instead of Puyallup cost me well over 3 hours on moving day. A $50 rebate check doesnt come close to making up for it!!!

Truck did what its suppose to, but the people there are money hungry not there for the customer. I called because traffic was bad so i would be a little late(like 10-20min) and they said they would charge me for an extra 24hrs and said i should bring it the next day at 7am.... i told them if im getting charged for 24hrs then i will bring it by the end of the day. They got rude because they wouldnt get to rent it out right away again(why else be rude to what time its coming back). Then after i drop it off im trying to ask why i have 2 charges from them and then there going to charge me again. The Owner comes by and just charges my card(that they had on file) while im talking to him and just hand me the reciept. Guy is about worthless
I reserved the truck when I was moving I went to pick up the truck to make the move and they informed me that they didnt have the truck that I was supposed to have and I had to go to another location making more miles they did reimburse me $50 for the inconvenience but still when you make a reservation and you have a confirmation number to go with that theres no reason why the vehicle you reserved shouldnt be there theyre not organized

I made an online reservation. But truck was not available when I get there to pick it up. Employees there don’t give a F. Why do they have an online reservation option if that doesn’t work ?
