Weve been looking to replace the builder-grade closet shelves in our home for a few years and could not find the right balance of price and closet quality until Modular Closets (MD). I heard about MD from watching some YouTube videos and the idea of buying direct from the factory in the USA was very appealing to us. We checked out their website and liked the various styles, colors and costs. They were running a Black Friday special for 20% off, so we pulled the trigger and placed an order for 5 of our closets. The process was super simple: take rough measurements of your closet, email it to MD, work with their designer for a custom solution get a price quote and then finalize the order. MD will assemble and ship your order direct to your front door. In our case, the order came from their NJ factory to our home in California in about 2 weeks. My kids and I were able to assemble all 5 closets or about 35 different pieces in one day and we hired a couple local contractors to demo our existing closets and install all the new closets in just 1 day! The closets look great, every thing fits great and the quality is fantastic! I have to mention that working direct with be factory saved us about 50% vs. the estimated cost from the usual vendors that do custom closets. MD uses the best drawer hinges because its steele and the drawers pull out completely and offer soft close as well. We definitely recommend Modular Closets. Our designer was Tom and he was great!

We recently purchased 3 separate closets and used the design tool on the website to help create the closet layout. Process of design was fun and easy as we configured the layout that we wanted for each of the closets.The order was shipped and arrived within a week and we were able to build the cabinets. Instructions provided made it very clear on how to build each component. If you were unsure you could review the videos they have posted on the website.....if you get stuck you can get support from the customer service team; they were prompt and very friendly to work with.Quality of cabinets (we purchased both white and grey) is great. The way they package the cabinets in boxes ensure they arrive without damage.We highly recommend that you purchase your closets you will not be disappointed.

Everything was fantastic and as planned. Justin helped me design a decent sized walk in closet. He made some great suggestions, was quick in presenting his design and any revisions we made.The pricing was reasonable. Once I pulled the trigger, I received an email saying delivery would be 2-3 weeks, a week later I got a phone call from the shipper saying they can deliver the next day. Everything was neatly packed on a skid. Directions were clear and if you have a question, you can find plenty of support.The closet came out great, when I need to do another one, I will certainly use Modular Closets again.

Customer service was top notch. We had a small issue with our drawers, but the company took care of it immediately. Modular closets is great, the order came within about a week and a half from the order date. The closet was fairly easy to put together, the people we worked with over the phone helped us measure and customize our walk in closet so when it was built it fit perfectly in our closet - to the centimeter. It’s so spacious and great quality. Definitely will be using them for the rest of our closets in the future.The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 starts is because of delivery. We had multiple boxes show up damaged to the point the pieces were unusable. We also had a few boxes not show up at all. Modular closets customer service was great though at expediting the missing and broken pieces to us and helping resolve the issue ASAP. Probably not modular closet’s fault, more the delivery company, but I also was not happy with the method of delivery. The private company dropped off a crate on our condo building front steps, full of 50+ heavy boxes (we have a very large closet). I had to carry the boxes up stairs to our unit myself. Not sure if this is normal or because of COVID, but delivery to inside the home for such a heavy closet set seems like it should be included.Overall great quality and customer service, highly recommend!

Great quality, solid wood, and arrived less than a week after ordering. The drawers have a glossy finish which was too modern for our home, so we sanded, painted and added the pulls to them.

Great product, quick shipping, easy to assemble and install. I used cabinet screws from Home Depot to install on the wall and hole plugs from Ikea to provide a cleaner look and cover up a lot of the holes

I contacted Modular Closets and chatted with Mordy on-line. He was very good at putting my rough thoughts onto a simulated screen, which gave me the opportunity to play around with the closet configuration. After a few days of playing around, he sent me a sample piece, which sealed it for me.The real selling point was the plywood construction, as I have seen how particle board shelves can sag over time. These are sturdy and attractive (Driftwood), and though melamine is melamine, I was actually impressed with the edge banding material and overall look.I ordered and received the shipment within five days (free shipping) and began assembly.There is a bit of a lack of instructions, but if youve ever put this type of thing together the learning curve is slight. There are on-line tutorials too.The absolute last piece I assembled was a drawer face that had sustained some damaged from shipping, which Mordy replaced no questions asked. It is now complete.The first female to see it installed gushed This is every womans dream!. My wife really likes it, but hasnt gone quite that far.Overall I highly recommend this product and dealing with this company.

We ordered several units for our master bedroom closet. They were shipped in a reasonable time frame. Assembly was very easy. The quality of the product is excellent. We are the envy of all the ladies in the neighborhood. We were so pleased that we ordered additional shelving units for our kitchen pantry. The adjustable shelves provided the needed flexibility for storage.

Just redid my master closet with this setup and it was very easy. Product is like ikea assembly but with quality built plywood. Very easy to trim to fit and the assembly looks great. Had a few issues with wrong panels and they got back to me immediately and fixed the problem ASAP. I’m thinking it was Ben that took care of me immediately. Little on the pricey side but well worth it. Still cheaper than other closet companies. Will definitely use them again to do the basement closet

Solid products. The units were pretty easy to put together, especially after you have done one or two. Wish their shelf unit with the single closet rod came in the grey, seems to be the only thing that doesnt. A few more color choices might be nice. They could also include a couple extra of the cam lock hardware. I had one break and lost one. I was able to find them at Lowes. Over all a good experience. I even placed a second order for a couple additional units.

The tower we assembled is sturdy enough with the provided materials. However, the 48 hanging rod/shelf will need to be reinforced with additional screws because the shelf is not attached by anything but dowels. the 2 screws that were provided (to hold the back piece with the side pieces) do not stabilize the unit. I fear that if we install the unit as provided it will come crashing down. Keeping my fingers crossed. I would not recommend this product to friends or family.

Poor customer service on the delivery.Delivery attempted on a day not available. More confusion on rescheduling the delivery. Pallet was damaged and parts missing from the damage. No instructions on how to assemble, attach and complete drawers. Missing parts sent by mail.No credits issued for all the headaches.I will not buy from this company again.

Modular Closets was a delight to work with. I had my own idea about what I wanted, but when I talked to the rep he suggested that he send me 2 options, mine, and the one he would recommend. We went with his plan, and it has worked out perfectly. (Well, actually I mis-measured a wall so my husband had to cut down one of the units, and even that went smoothly). The product is high quality, and easy to put together. The enclosed instructions are not worth the paper they are printed on, but you can go online and get excellent instructions, diagrams, and even a video demo. I had to call the company a couple times, but each time was met with a pleasant voice, and someone who could answer my questions. I would recommend this quality company to everyone!!Cindy Jindra

Very well made and all of my closets are modular closet layouts, but their company has a serious problem with sending extra pegs.I ordered two separate transactions over a 2 month period of extra shelves because they werent all items in my initial order werent in stock.Both times in purchase notes I wrote, include extra pegs and both orders were missing pegs.Going forward I hope their shopping center reads the customer notes.

This is a GREAT product. All plywood which is a huge plus. No flimsy MDF or press-board. I wish the connecting hardware were upgraded but what you get is sufficient. I imagine they are probably working on newer, better hardware as we speak. They have two colors which are both gorgeous. We used white and it fit perfectly into our design. The fitting and design was pretty painless. A few bumps along the way but the salesperson we dealt with, Scott R, was very patient and skilled. Our final design was exactly what we were looking for. Thankfully we were able to find contractors that were skilled in assembling the product and hanging it correctly. It needs to be level, plumb, and tied snuggly to studs for safety and beauty. Ours came out amazing. Service was tested as one of over 20 boxes had a non-matching piece. They passed the test as they provided a whole new set to make sure they had a happy, loyal customer. Now they have one. I wouldnt use any other company for custom closets moving forward.I suspect customers complaining about this company over-estimated their own ability to assemble and hang the product: THATS why the price is so low. Either hire a pro or pay triple for California Closets to come install.

Great experience with sales and very happy with product. I am not the DIY type, so I recommend using someone who installs these regularly; they did a great job!

This company will happily sell you the system and ship out the merchandise but they are horrible at proving directions, instructions, recommendations, insight or anything to insure a successful installation. The instruction sheets are laughable. In this online era they provide you with a grey scale single sided sheet that looks like it has been run off on a poor quality copier. When I did follow the few instructions provided my shirts were all dragging on the floor! Dont plan on the drawers operating smoothly. The drawer slides are poor quality and I chose to replace them all. My wife was kicking the drawers to try to get them open and has since given up. Find a company that offers some insight and support during installation. This is a job you only do once and none of us are experts the first time through. These folks should offer support during this frustrating time.

Very happy with the quality. Only thing I regret is that I forgot to enter the FB promotion code when I bought and could have saved 10%.
