I always feel well cared for at South Sound Eye Care, starting with the friendliest front desk staff to Dr. Greer and Dr. Kim who cares about my eye health and takes the time needed to provide excellent service every time. I’m happy to be part of the family there. Their office is not a typical eye care office. You are not just a number, but a person with a name. I love the small town feel of the office and look forward to my appointments there. 😊 They always try to accommodate appointments around my busy work schedule. I know I am in good hands for all my eye care needs.

The staff here are nice and welcoming, especially those in the back. It is a smaller space but that gives it a more personal feel. The Dr. was very knowledgeable and answered all questions during my visit.

Easy to schedule appointment. Excellent Covid-19 protocols and cleanliness. State of the of art optical and ophthalmic testing. Communication between staff and patient were clear and concise, including all medical explanations from Dr Kim. Overall I’m very impressed. I wish i would have found this eye clinic 5 years ago!!

The staff is always super friendly and Dr. Kim listens to what I want instead of trying to sell me on something else. She also has great suggestions for things I wouldnt think of. (Like wearing one contact for long distance, one for closer viewing. The bifocal contacts werent working for me but that did.) Our family have been customers for around 10 years and they gave always been great!

Everything was done professionally and courteously. A lot of their assessments are very detailed. Appreciate the whole staff; Dr. Greer is an incredible optometrist and really knowledgeable. I do recommend South sound for an outstanding eye care visit.

My 23 yr-old daughter went to this place and told them she is under VSP insurance and she has 2 benefits (my husband is a teacher with great insurance coverage). She even showed them the screenshots from VSP.COM so they could apply her benefits. In the end, my daughter is charged for $237++ instead of $90+ (excess of the coverage plus co-pay) because they said they are out-of-network. WHO WOULD BE IN HER RIGHT MIND TO AGREE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT WHEN SHE COULD HAVE 2 PAIRS OF EYEGLASSES FOR FREE??? The lady there Kay or Faye, (cant remember which one is her name) said they explained to my daughter the prices. Well, obviously, they didnt explain well enough. They could have advised her to try to go to other places in that area so she could use her insurance instead they went ahead and charged her. This is totally a misinformation and they took advantage of it. By the way, the lens are not good too. Premium lens but still very thick! We called to get a refund and she insisted not to. Their office might have made money out of my daughters pocket (she just got separated with a one year old kid) but they will not earn any respect and referral from us for sure.

This is my second visit. When I called to schedule my appointment on Tuesday, I was able to get in by Thursday. Due to medical conditions I must have exams yearly to be able to fill certain prescriptions. I was appreciative of this promptness to get me in. I hardly had to wait to be helped. I was taken back for my exam quickly. All scans and images were done and I was seen by the doctor right away. I love the proximity to my home. The staff is amazing. Glad I transferred my care to South Sound Eye Care.

Dr. Kim ruined my sons vision. She was my eye doctor from 2006 to 2013. Why we left? My son was referred to get an eye exam from his pediatrician when he was 3 years old. So naturally, I took him to my eye Dr. She examined him and said he was normal for his age. Kids at 3 are naturally a little far sighted so nothing to worry about. It would correct itself. My sons preschool teacher said she was wondering about his vision too because of things he did in school. I said we had it covered. The pediatrician recommended an eye exam at his 4 year old well child visit. So we went back with the same result. Same thing happened for the 5 year well check, with the same result. At school, my son failed their eye exam they have all the kids do. I brought his exam back to her office as she had just seen him 2 months prior to this exam. Dr. Kim gave him a prescription for being far sited in both eyes, but still defended her diagnosis while doing the exam. Next school year he came home as failing that eye exam, and she had just seen him 2 months prior that time. I took him to another optician who said my son had a severely neglected astigmatism, and WITH LENSES would only be able to see 20/50. He had a diagnosis of amblyopia. I took the diagnosis and prescription to her office where they took a copy of it. I told them about the exam visit, and they said they would tell her. We never got a call from her, or anyone apologizing for her mistake. I left a review on Google, and I filed a complaint with my insurance company. We had to do eye exams every 6 months for the next 7 years, and only one of those visits per year was covered by insurance. If there was a new prescription, only one was paid for per year. This woman caused my son to be delayed in at school, requiring extra attention. She has changed their office name 3 times, but she is still practicing. I would never take my family there if I were you.

I’m not one to leave reviews but for Dr.Dahlin I would be wrong not to tell you all how amazing he is. He is hands down the best medical professional I’ve come in contact with. He genuinely cares about his patients overall well-being. The remaining staff are all also very warm and welcoming. Not to mention I called and was able to be seen the next day! I always look forward to going to my eye exams 100% recommend!!!

Everyone at this place is really nice. They greet you with a smile!! The eye doctor was very helpful. She found out my eye problem. She answered all my questions and sent to to a cataract institute for surgery. I was glad I came here rather than a generic place to get glasses. You will be happy with this place and the people that work here! If you have an eye problem, the doctor will find it.

South Sound Eyecare is a full service optometrist and glasses shop. Care is excellent and consistent. Doctors are really good and care about the patients. I’ve been going there since 2007 (when it was at Tacoma Mall).

Dr. Kim really cares about her patients and is very knowledgeable. The staff is also very professional.

Dr.Greer is a very knowledgeable professional. His easy going manner melts any tension away and makes your visit stress free. There is no rush during an appointment and everything is explained thoroughly to the patient. Any forgotten questions and the staff is prompt to contact you back. The difference between this practice and other practices i have been to is the fact that you actually spend most time with the doctor who examines your eyes as well as does the checkup for glasses. I had to get in last minute Wednesday and Thursday because of having Shingles near and possibly in my eye. Dr. Greer did not hesitate to let me come in late in the day. Both Dr. Greer and Dr. Dahlin were extremely warm and empathetic. The nurses were all very sweet. This is a great office full of fantastic people! I am very grateful for them.This should be your future eye care place, hands down!

Would recommend for prescription based services, not medical care. Had an issue with my eye, didnt resolve after the first visit, optometrist seemed flustered at recheck and recommended similar treatment & recheck with possibility of punctal plugs as the next step. Optometrist did not recommend referral.Went to an ophthalmologist, was prescribed medicated drops & am starting to see improvement. Wish I had gone to an ophthalmologist first or recommended that as an option at the recheck.

It is a pleasant experience. Eye exams and treatment for eye problems is essential to have good eye health.

I have never been billed from vision visits until visiting this clinic. I have the same insurance and I don’t know why I had to pay anything! They said they are PPO. They billed $75!!! for lenses fitting and I have to pick up the coinsurance?what the?!!! And other charges? And the lenses fitting was checked by one of the technicians for a few minutes and not even by Dr.??? Wow! I will stay away from here. BS billing charges.

Educate your support staff! Ive never actually been here, the doctors might be fantastic. However, I called with an emergency (seeing flashes of light, a symptom of a condition that could lead to blindness) but the receptionist I spoke with had no idea and said she could get me an appointment three weeks out. I dont mind they couldnt get me in today, I mind that people could be calling with this same emergency and the support staff doesnt know anything about it. I called two other offices and they both immediately urged me to get in right away. If you work in a medical office, learn about the different emergencies you could be faced with. At the very least, put the phone down and go get a consult, something she didnt bother doing. To the doctors, you should have a great interest in educating your support staff, theyre the face of the office. In this case, she couldve cost me my vision if I hadnt known enough to call elsewhere.

We have been with South Sound Eye Care for several years and I have to say this was one of our best decisions we made concerning our eye care. We have tried different offices, but we have found none that cared like Dr Greer and his staff .I have some health isusses and Dr Greer always makes sure to inform my PC of his findings and if need to he makes me come back to make sure Im okay.And I think the staff is really friendly and very helpful and they are so nice.I am so glad that we have found this Care Center and I really hope that Dr Greer stays there for a long time.Thank you everybody !

Dr was great but office staff horrid. Paid for contact lens on dec 4 waited all month for them to come in. Called on the 26th still not in, said they would call me. Then on the 31st get certified mail returning my payment and told me they were terminating me from their office and to go somewhere else. Upsetting cause insurance for coverage ran out for this year. Lied and said I broke their trust? Whatever that meant. All I was doing was waiting for my contacts. I don’t think they ever sent the prescription out. Their staff was very rude to me in beginning. Never will I do business with them again and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
