Great customer service. Which I like to call Old Skool Love

I stopped in today to get a new pair of cross trainers. Hard to find affordable shoes especially in 4E. Those of you who have wide feet know what I mean.I was greeted nicely as I entered the store and when I informed the associate what I was looking for she promptly paged an employee to the footwear section.The footwear clerk was already waiting for me by the time I walked to the back wall and when I told him what I was looking for, he promptly made a number of recommendations based on their in store product availability. The guy obviously knows his stock!I reviewed the wide range of choices I was presented with and chose a pair of stylish pair of New Balance cross trainers. Check out was quick and easy as well.

I went to Big 5 for their Black Friday sales and found some outstanding deals. I was able to save a ton of money on a wide range of great products. I didnt know Big 5 sold so many different things. The staff at the Lakewood store were so kind and helpful it was very surprising for the day after Thanksgiving. They helped me with product questions and gave me a place to keep my pile of goods while I kept shopping. When I checked out, I was pleasantly surprised they offered a 10% military discount. Then one of the employees helped me carry my bags to the car. What a wonderful experience and amazing staff. I absolutely recommend this store if you need Sporting or Camping gear.

😲I didnt know they had combat boots under $70. This has many pleasant surprises. They are friendly. The staff is personable and friendly to each other.

The staff was courteous and mostly helpful. The store was not busy but the manager instructed one of the staff members to do some stock work right where were. It was already a tight space, why wait until we were done? Go to an empty are of the store to do some other work. I hope this wasnt an attempt to keep an eye on us; we were dressed in some clothes that we didnt mind getting dirty from the hiking we had just been doing. We ended up making over $120 in purchases even though the stock was limited for womens inline skates for my daughter (bought mens that fit).

Excellent customer service I want to thank Galen and Lawrence for their help! Galen was very knowledgeable on different kind of exercises and equipment found me the best deal for what I was looking for. And Lawrence was very kind carried out my package to my car because of my bad shoulder. Definitely recommend supporting a local business like Big 5 over Amazon! We went looking for size 14 mens running shoes. Online said out of stock. By chance we went there. They had several styles in stock. Customer service was top notch. Thank you Liz!!! Very friendly. Wasnt bothered by us changing our mind several times. It wasnt our first time in the store and it wont be the last.

I needed shoes that comfortable for walking and water resistant. I was also looking for a water resistant coat but decided to get a rain poncho.

I love buying my comfortable sandals there for long walks. This is the second time I have bought shoes there .The prices for the sandals was a good price ( it was on sale). I was helped by a young lady at the shoe department, she was so nice and really helped me to find the right pair of sandals.

I really dont care for Big5 stores. My reason for stopping in was because I was looking for something and I happen to be next to a store. The isle and shelves always feel crammed with stuff and they never have more then two or three of something. Ordering online is archaic, cant order online and pickup in store. Really, I am a little surprised that they still have stores open. Good luck on your visit.

I went in to buy a shotgun and the experience went downhill from there. It took nearly 15 just to get an associates to the counter and then another 10 minutes to get the manager to help just to tell me that I had to come back in 40 minutes so he could go on lunch? What planet does he come from? Stay far, far away from this location.

They give military discount and staff was super nice even though I paid bought more upon leaving. Had an mini toddler niki ball sat aside. And got a BOSTON TERRIER, pony and owl beanie baby. Good environment and close parking for customers.

This is a gem if youre looking for inexpensive shoes

I was greeted at the door, and employee asked me what I was looking for. Then directed me in the right direction and told me that somebody would be there to help me in a minute. 2 minutes 35 seconds later the same gentleman that greet me at the door came over and helped me. The only reason why I didnt give this place five stars was the gentleman that was helping me was interrupted by his manager to take break right in the middle of helping me. Im sorry but thats a little rude. Now before I left the store I made sure to thank personally the gentleman that started to help me. Nice guy.

As soon as we walked into the store Shannon said hello welcome to Big 5. My husband and I walked back to the shoes to look at getting me a pair. We were not even back there two minutes when Kenny came up and helped us. He was so nice and helpful make sure we were taking care of got everything we needed. These two young people know what customer service is. They made our experience wonderful and we will be back again for sure.

Was looking for running shoes for my wife. They always have reasonable prices at Big 5. But they dont carry the brand she prefers. However she found jogging bras on sale and got a couple of those. Only complaint is staff never left the checkout area to see if we needed any help or had any questions even though the store was not crowded.

Great little sporting goods store with pretty much everything you could think of. Prices and sales are often better than the larger chains. Dont let the size fool you or scare you away! Take a look here before heading to Dicks, etc.

Every time I go in I get great customer service. I called to find out if they had a shoe in my size; the lady ( Shanon I think) who answered went out of her way to find the exact shoe and size I needed. At first she was unable to find my size but after hanging up she locatedy size and was kind enough to call me back to let me know they did have it. Great service all around!

I stood in the shoe dept. for 10 minutes while 3 of them walked around talking about i dont know what! And so they lost a sale that day and the next day they didnt have any size above a 5. So they lost another sale. Ill find somewhere else to get shoes!!

Great customer service. Went on for a canopy after checking the stock online. By the time i got there it was sold. The associate called the Tacoma store and after being told they didnt have them in the color i wanted she politely informed them that she saw three online. They went back and checked and voila! I purchased two canopies. When i picked them up from the Tacoma location an associate and a police officer that was in the store loaded them for me!

Girl working here.. Was totally rude to the older disabled man in front of me.. She belittled him so much for being the way he was.. All he did was ask a question.. She wouldnt help him.. I was so appalled i left the store all merchandise too. I will not ever do business at this Big 5 in Lakewood ever.. My 2 girls were with me and their hearts sank as well.. They even apologized to the man out side for her behavior..

Best finds here as far as sporting goods go. Baseball, football, basketball, etc. They knew everything about sports. Best recommendation for those who do sports like myself.

Awesome sports shop. Its been my go to since moving up here. Theyve got a surprisingly large selection considering its on the smaller side of shop sizes. Prices are fair and they have a military discount.

I went in to purchase a fishing license, and a shot gun. The store clerk said she would call in the sales rep. The person just walked around the store looking at his phone. I stood around for ten minutes. Watching the sales rep do nothing. Then i just walked out of the store. Im not going there again.
