I went in to see if I needed my holes in my ball drilled. I was given this ball by a friend and I thought the holes were too small. The gentleman behind the counter told me that the fit was perfect and I didnt need anything done but to try it out when my league started and if I felt uncomfortable to come back and he would help me out. I was quite surprised I honestly thought that they would do something just to upcharge me. Its nice to see that there are honest people out there today. I highly recommend ocean lanes.

Came here tonight with some friends. First time I came to Ocean Lanes. Loved the shiny alley, looked very clean including the bowling balls. The animations on the screen are a nice addition, especially for children. The three stars are for the older lady working at the bar. Her attitude wasnt appealing. No smile, dry greeting. At one point tonight, I thought I lost my phone and went to go ask and look around the bar. The bartender seemed unphased and disinterested in what I expressed to her. She wasnt busy with others, she was by herself and preoccupied with what seemed to be nothing at that given moment. Didnt offer to help or respond professionally. And whats up with the snack bar closed at 6PM on a Thursday night? First of all, its summer season and nothing should be closed that early. My friends and I were looking for a snack while we bowled. Bummer. Overall, we may be back its up in the air at this point. The customer service here needs to be better. This is a family oriented place. Workers shouldnt appear like they hate their jobs.

The Lanes are great. The people are professional. All digital and electronic. Bonus: the bumpers go up and down by themselves and can be programmed per bowler. Great for family bowling with older and younger children.

Omg awesome, if you want to play and have a great time with total strangers that become friends this is the place. I love bowling, although it has been a very long time(I stink) I had an amazing time. Everyone is friendly and nice. I cant wait to go back.😁👍

Great place for bowling . Lots of things changed since I was in school bowling. Very nice updated equipment. Would recommend to everyone. Nice place to bring the kids to have fun. Friendly staff. The special Olympics event was very nice.

Helpful staff, easy to use bowler and score management tools. Still a friendly and comfortable place, i.e. not insane with over the top covid restrictions. I look forward to playing here again soon.

This was such a fun experience. I was visiting my father and he had me watch him and his lovely wife bowl! We laughed and enjoyed ourselves. The lady at the bar made me fresh fries and bacon with cheese sauce! Such yummy food.

Ive been here twice. first time it was fun. second time was at COVID times and they didnt allow my 1 year old in without a mask!!!!!!!!!!! I told them that the CDC guidelines requires a mask only since 2 years and Ive never heard of another place that requires for a 1 year old. they told me you can leave. Ive never seen such a ridiculous and unrealistic policy anywhere.

Went with our family for our annual New Years bowling excursion. The pro shop was great, drilled my new ball and followed up to be sure it was a good fit. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful, and they adhere to the COVID guidelines. There was constant cleaning and sanitizing going on, it was spotless! Cafe and bar were open with friendly service and they bring everything right to your lane. We love Ocean Lanes, highly recommend!

I brought my wife and my 1 year old to have a nice afternoon bowling. However that didn’t happen. We were told that my one year old had to wear at mask at all times. We then explained the CDC guidelines and we were told that since it’s a private business they have the last word. In general I understand but to expect for children for EVERYONE including children that are 1 years of age and under is ridiculous and unrealistic. I was very disappointed. I would not be returning to this business.

By far the WORST experience! The staff is extremely nasty and rude! The bartender should consider a different career she was down right disrespectful. Rolling her eyes at me as if I were a bother to her. Also outside every 2 minutes smoking, coming back in never washed her hands one time before serving another drink. Hence no tip for her terrible service. As we were leaving she was outside (for the 100th time) complaining about other customers to what seemed to be a frequent bar fly friend of hers. My family and I will never go back to this establishment. If I were the owner I would clean house fire and rehire polite staff who enjoy working with the public. I wish google had a no star option!

I really dont like to complain about a business in a time like this but I need to clear myConscience and I see others have encountered the same situation. Asking a one/two yearOld to wear a mask is just ridiculous. And saying if you dont like it leave is just kind of upsetting right now to the families who still choose to try and put their kids in a somewhat normal day out with family and friends. And you can sit and eat but absolutely do Not stand and eat because the chewing police show up. I wont be going here again.

Alley was cleanThe shoes were sticky and you could only use the 5 balls that were supplied to you. Coincidentally only the heaviest and lightest balls fit my fingers. This was a huge bummer

The people at the front desk are rude when you ask questions, they lie about having no reservations because they give special service to people of certain kinds, it has been 4 days of trying to bowl and today the lady said to come at 5 and we were there 5:10, there was a swarm of the people blocking the enterance so you couldn’t even get in. I called the front desk and he was rude to me and hung up the phone. I called again and he was once again rude and did not answer my questions. This place needs new management or something because it’s not right that they treat their customers this way when all we want to do is have fun.

This place is super strict about masks even for children under 2 years old which is pretty outrageous, although the CDC has clearly stated children under 2 are not required to wear masks. But, as the gentlemen in the front desk said “this is a private business and we supersede what the CDC says” go figure! I wonder if they’re gonna keep the mask mandate once COVID has dissipated.. since they seem to know better than Dr. Fauci and the CDC..perhaps they may make it permanent.. hmmm.. Should have read the reviews before wasting my time coming here. They must really not need anyone’s business to be dismissing families left and right.

I feel bad leaving bad reviews but after seeing all of these i have to second them. they are INSANE about masks. my cousin had his mask down by accident walking in and she yelled at him. we then had our masks down when we were sitting because the lanes next to us were empty and we werent near anybody. they stared us down for 20 minutes and then scolded us. we argued with them and then they kicked us out and made us pay! after seeing the comments about the babies being forced to wear masks, i no longer feel bad for leaving a bad review....

Great place to bowl. Pro shop staff knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I have been bowling here for 8 years on leagues and open bowling. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Since covid 19 things have changed to meet guidelines set by the state. They have risen to the occasion and do everything they can to ensure our safety. Signs are clearly on display to wear a mask and check in at the desk. Social distancing is adhered to and unfortunately when the staff has to enforce the regulations they are met with some pretty nasty people. They handle it with complete professionalism and explain the situation. I am happy to have such a wonderful staff looking out for my health and safety

The bowling experience was delightful. We really enjoyed ourselves and the lanes were clean and kept up. The staff were nice and friendly. All but the bartender she was so rude and unpleasant. She was just out right rude and treating her customers poorly. We were told the lanes were all busy so we had a 10min wait so we decided to wait by the bar. We almost left the alley because of her rudeness she kept yelling at us to put our mask back on and that cant move from the table. But again we really loved this place and will definitely be coming back. Just make sure to stay away from the bar.

Great place to bowl with the family. They were strict about the Covid guidelines which I didnt mind. When we were done bowling they went down and disinfected the area and bowling balls. Safe, clean and fun family place to bowl.

They all have nasty attitudes there (every one of them)maby that is one of the requirements of getting a job there... Even when you call you hear the attitude...drive an extra few minutes and just go to a diffrent place...

Very nice modern Bowling alley. Everything has been redone nothing of the old days . they have a food kitchen and a bar also some pinball machines and video games. The bathrooms were clean and modern. The Starr seemed polite and respectful. Great place for family night or any night. I look forward to returning.

I went in with a few kids and a baby and they told me that my 1 year old baby needed to wear a mask. I left, as these people either hate kids, or they have serious issues. I will never return. My kids were so confused as to why someone would make our baby wear a mask, I dont even know how to explain it to them other than, some people are weird and dont really make sense

They don’t give you a warning if your mask isn’t warm properly they will kick you out. It’s important to respect the rules of the place but at least give one warning before kicking out

Complete garbage. They tried to split my family by lanes one on 37 and 1 on 39. The lady followed us and screamed about grabbing a pink ball.

This place is absurd! They walk around every 2 minutes making sure little kids masks are over there nose. My kid had his mask under his nose for less than a min! they kicked us out And made us pay full!

First bowling alley Ive been to that wasnt dingy and rundown. Clean, well maintained with a nice bar area in the back. Various fried food for sale as well (normal bowling alley fare). I suck at bowling but will definitely come back!

Extremely nasty staff. My kids masks were all on but the front desk kept saying it was not tight enough. We pinched the mask by the nose and they said that the mask is going to fall a bit down. They were basically saying that if the mask is not going to make you suffocate then it’s not good. We did not even attempt to stay and play as we saw their attitude was that if they see someone’s nose for a split second then you will have to leave. I mean seriously I have not walked into such a strict place ever! Even a dr’s office isn’t that strict. Ocean Lanes goes to extreme measures just to bother people. In today’s day and age, customer service is very important.

Best bowling alley in the world!! Very nice staff, really accommodating. They let you have in the same lane, some players have bumpers up, and some down- all done automatically!! Its set in the system, and will switch by each persons turn, according to preference. They also have a lot of balls, of ALL sizes, and they actually have balls that you can get your fingers into- not like some other bowling alleys. Pricing also is really good. IF YOU WANT TO GO BOWLING, GO HERE!!

Dont make a one year old wear a mask

I called and spoke to a woman on the phone asking if they had any availability for open bowling for tonight and was told yes there were some open lanes until 8pm. Upon arriving at about 7pm I was turned away saying that open bowling would be over in just 20 minutes. I informed the woman I was told 8pm when I called only a half hour ago and was told nothing but sorry. Just be honest when someone calls!!!!!!

This is an old fashioned, fun bowling alley. It is family friendly, clean and inviting. The birthday parties for kids are reasonable and fun. The snack bar has great food,reasonably priced. Top notch bowling alley.

Bowling alleys seem to be steadily disappearing in NJ. We go to this one a couple of times a year. It was built in the 1960s but has been updated. The equipment and lanes are well maintained and the staff is friendly. They have a bar with reasonable prices as well as a snack bar that serves the usual offering of burgers, fries etc. The bathrooms are reasonably clean, even when its busy. Great place overall.

Its St. Pattys day weekend and the wait wasnt long at all. An easy 20 minutes to pass by. They had great customer service and the bartender is super nice. Its definitely a nice family environment and I felt super comfortable being there.

The employees at ocean lanes went above and beyond what they are required to do for me and my family. They literally SAVED and working mom with little to no time to prepare for anything! Special shout out to ms.Leslie for being so helpful and going out of her way for us. She prepared a meal for 9 kids and 5 adults with no notice and it turned out amazing! Nice clean place, everything in working order. But I feel like the employees think they have to be nasty, being kind and sweet goes way farther, too bad noone taught them how 2 b nice.

This place is a disaster. The lady with the frizzy hair was watching like a witch, the minute my kid mask came off his nose we were escorted like a serial killer. Didnt even give us a refund. I feel like she came to work just to annoy everyone.

I’m new to the area and am a league bowler. I’ve been practicing at Ocean Lanes and will seek to bowl here in the summer and the fall. The people are so accommodating and nice and the lane conditions are consistent and professionally maintained. It has everything to make the bowling experience fun and exciting. Kudos to all the individuals that create the experience !

Might be the worst experience of my life. The workers their are extremely rude and the bar tender had to be the nastiest individual I’ve ever dealt with. Everyone who works there seems to hate their job. Would never go there again let alone let this place run the high school bowling leagues. All in all ocean lanes is a trash bowling alley there are many better bowling alleys within the area.

This place is pretty professional. Always nice people working the counter. Never had a problem with them. Prices are fair nothing too crazy as compared to other places in Ocean County. Lanes are perfectly set up, no dents or grooves. And it is always very clean and well taken care, Ive yet to see it dirty.

We were celebrating my nephew’s birthday. The place was nice and the kids had a great time. Unfortunately, the bartender was so nasty and disrespectful. She doesn’t know how to treat people and talks to everyone is such a rude way. If you work with customers, you need to provide a top customer services. I complained with the manager about her nasty attitude.
