I love this place. I get most of my beads and raw gemstone for my jewelry there. Always nice and helpful. Love that they care about their neighbors and maintain public health safety. I feel safe shopping there. People who give one star reviews because of their mask mandate, you can stay away we don’t want you. I know this wont be a problem for most; Im just posting this for those who might be affected. The manager and one of the staff both misgendered me within seconds of one another after I had been in the store for several minutes. Im moving out of the South to find a more accepting place to live. I wish I could change how I look, and I wish that this didnt affect me. Im sorry. Language does matter.Otherwise, everyone seemed pleasant and the store seemed well stocked. Its probably a great place to shop.

I had a mask in my car however Im a healthy prepared shopper who chose my Sovereignty over conformity.Live and let live :) ............Used to love going here, drive an hour and make time so I can spend plenty of time looking at all the rocks along with spending plenty of money each time. :( unfortunately they still require a damn mask and then have the audacity to offer you a mask for 2.50 😆My well earned money is going elsewhere. CHOOSE LOVE. NOT FEAR. Peace!

They have an amazing selection of Crystals and gems. Theyre beautiful and a bit expensive, but good quality. They have a deal going on for 50% $200 worth of crystal beads.

Great store to find a variety of Jasper, agate and other stones like lepidolite, amethyst, tourmaline and more. You can find many colors of beading cord for knotting, seed beads, delicas, and other findings. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I recently began a new hobby and wanted to buy my supplies from a small business. The staff was incredibly helpful and showed me where to find everything I needed. I felt that the selection was very broad. Well worth the visit!

Ive never been treated so rudely in the first two seconds of speaking to someone. It made me mad and I told them so in not so nice words because quite honestly it shocked me how rude the woman was right off the bat. It kinda sucked too because went way out of my way to get there because I called to make sure they had what I needed and nothing about a mask was mentioned...I know she wasnt obligated to but it would have definitely been considerate and saved me time and embarrassment. I definitely wont be back.I cant believe theyre treating customers so terribly who cant wear masks. If you are a person who cant for religious or health reasons do not waste your time and energy and definitely not your money on these people. I have not been to a bead and gem store since covid and I had saved up to restock (Im an artist) and was so pumped to go in and get what I needed but I will drive further to go somewhere where I am not greeted by hall monitors trying to sell me a mask they touched to put over my face and breathe into. No thanks, those people looked nasty anyway. I can definitely see why they might want to keep their faces covered.

My family and I visited this place while we were in Colorado and I love this place so much! We found lots of cool gems and other neat things. Everyone who works there is super helpful and friendly. My only two complaints is that it doesn’t feel like they use a fan or air conditioning to keep the place cooler and they also make you wear uncomfortable gloves that make your hands super sweaty, but I think we’ll definitely stop by this place again the next time we’re in Colorado! :)

This gem store believes they know better about my medical condition than my doctor and are practicing medicine without a license. You as a business cannot keep people safe. Stop acting like brownshirts for the state. I prefer to support local small businesses but will take my several hundred dollar order somewhere else even if that’s amazon to avoid medical fascists.

Very friendly informative staff that obviously love where and what they do. The variety of size, tumble V rough, beads and specimens were fabulous.

This place truly is a desert gem! They go above and beyond to follow guidelines and make sure all their customers are safe, and I thank them for making everything as well-guarded as it can be. Theyre so knowledgable about their craft and it makes me look forward to going there again when everything is safer. They have both tumbled and untumbled pieces that are just brilliant. Great place, love their selection of beads and natural crystals and gems. My one and only complaint is that they open so late. I’ve had to bypass going there a number of times since having to wait until 11:00 AM completely throws off my schedule.

As a jewelry-making gemstone fan, I looked forward to visiting this shop - especially since Ive only found one even similar to it within 100 miles of my home in Louisiana!Pros: Nice staff, ample parking, good-sized store, good selection of beads and some fabricating items, too (metal-working, rock tumbling, antiquing, different sizes and styles of genuine copper wire (not just craft wire), and more).However, what stood out the most to me was the display case of *incredible* cabochons in the back of the store!!! Most were natural, however they do carry some dichroic glass cabs (but fewer now that I bought a bunch haha)Cons: Not so much cons as suggested improvements... I wish theyd have had a display of locally-sourced stones, as I would have loved to make some souvenir pieces, but the surprisingly small number of locally-sourced items are disbursed throughout the store and tough to spot. I also would have loved to have purchased some PMC there, but they carried none. :(Compared to the bead shop in New Orleans, this shop seems less geared towards novices or hobbyists as it has limited findings, charms, components and chain (they stock plenty, but much less than in NOLA). However, those who are getting into fabricating their own settings, components, etc. would probably prefer this shop.Id happily shop there again!

I fell in love with this store! I went with my father as it is a hobby of his to go out to dig for quartz, and many more. Unique beautiful gemstones well at least thats how I see them. I bought that day a beautiful white calcite stone and if put under a black light it turns purple. Cool right! I thought so and Im 31 and still pretty excited about learning something new. There is this calcite stone that turnes green under the black light. What is it? I am hoping to find some on a return trip to this store. The staff here are amazing super attentive and welcoming. Would have loved to come in and support a small business during Covid but I showed up during posted store hours on Google and the shop was closed. Super disappointed I traveled so far to see you guys, hope to come back once the store hours are correct.

A gem of a gem store tucked between a nook and a highway! I have found a new place to wander and treasure seek in a place which holds endless opportunities for creative ideas and realities. The guys here were kind, helpful, patient and extremely knowledgeable!The Desert Gem could possibly lure the rock-loving nerdy kid out of even those with OCD or even fear all things earthy 😉.When I first walked in I momentarily got to experience traveling back in time into a little cove of the past from when i was a kid; I often visited a little shop I loved called The Rock Hut, in the mining town I lived in. I look forward to going back.

Ive never seen so many beads on one wall. Whats unique is a wooden flat drawered cabinet with plastic containers where you can buy beads singly. Very helpful staff.

Staff was VERY knowledgeable always offering help and answers. Prices were a tad bit higher but quality was great! (Makes the price completely worth it) such a selection its like they have everything! Defiantly recommend this place to anybody who enjoys collecting rocks.

This is a quaint little shop that will have all the rocks and gems you might want. They also have the most wonderful selection of gem beads I have ever seen. The staff here is also extremely helpful and are open to answer any questions you might have.

I have been coming here for maybe about a year or more and I love it there. Things seem more relax here than any where else gem shop wise. They are a variety of selections that make it easier to find things since Im honestly wary of buying things like stones and crystals online. I would recommend going here.

I am indifferent to this store. The staff was very friendly, and they have a sizeable number of gems and minerals for sale. I was less than impressed with the beads, though. The quality was variable, and they are priced way above average. If you are looking to make a piece of jewellery for yourself then its not a problem. It quickly becomes one, though, if you sell jewellery foe a living.

Dillon and Dave have been very helpful from the very first time I called, visited and purchased from their store. I recommend any rock hound, collector or person that just even likes to look at cool and unique rocks, minerals or fossils to go in and check out the selection. My wife and I just started collecting this holiday season and this is our favorite store. Prices are good as well. Keep up the great service and selection Desert Gems!!

Excellent selection of high quality semi precious stones. Prices are high however they always have sales like spend $100 get 40% off spend $200 get 50% off so essentially youre getting 100 worth of free high quality gems. The Staff is highly knowledgeable and very helpful. This is by far my favorite place to shop for gems and beads.

I truly love this store. There are some reviews listed here that take issue with normal, everyday occurrences. Things happen. I just know when I go to Desert Gems the staff is helpful, the selection is great and the prices are reasonable. They often have a 50% off sale on beads, which is awesome. I had a project that I needed help with and the staff was there for me, even though the store was really busy!! (Which is also a good sign, in itself!) Give them a try and tell them Jaika sent you!! ;-)

This shop is great for anyone who loves collecting crystals or make things with beads. Their natural bead selection is enormous! The crystal selection is great. All of their pieces are very beautiful. They do not have a huge variety like they do of beads but in this case it is definitely quality over quantity. The staff is very friendly and knowlegable. The prices are fair and they have really good sales too.

Great selection of books and jewelry-making equipment. They dont sell precious metals last time I checked though. I believe their main focus is beading. They have a large tumbled stone collection, and they also sell a few rough specimens. They also carry a good selection of cabs in their back counter. The owner and his family are very friendly & helpful. Never once had I felt ignored or disrespected while in their store. To be honest its a complete pleasure to shop there. They also keep updated brochures on upcoming gem & mineral shows if youre into those.

Great place to look for findings and stones for jewelry. They carry a wide selection and books on mineral collecting and jewelry making.

I would have given this shop a higher rating if the experience had been more pleasant. My husband and I went in to find some gems for making jewelry, as well as some stone pieces to showcase in our home. The older male employee kept eyeing everything that we were looking at asking if we had questions about it which seemed normal. We didn’t have any questions as their labeling for pricing and descriptions is extremely clear through out the store. This older gentleman proceeded to follow us and stand over us at literally everything we stopped to look at. Being a black woman I am used to this type of racial profiling. After about the 7th time of feeling this guy breath down my neck I told my husband let’s get our stuff that we want to purchase and leave. However before we do I want to look at the beads on the wall in the corner of store. As soon as we started walking towards those beads the lady at the front proceeded to quickly follow us back there and do the same thing the older gentleman did. I decided not to get the beads. Mind you this is a tiny shop with cameras EVERYWHERE! This type of extra cautious stereotyping security was not necessary Especially considering i picked out 3 stones and left them at the register telling the cashier to watch them as I’mplanning to purchase them. I figured showing intention to purchase should make you realize we are not thieves!!! We spent $100 with the plan to spend $350. Extremely uncomfortable experience. Probably won’t return. If you’re that worried about people stealing hire security don’t profile customers and stock them when they’re just trying to shop.

Nice location great prices

The business owner is a jerk !! I went in to buy some stuff as a gift for a girl that I am friends with .. Found some stones and trinkets for under $10 then I went to use my debit card and for some reason their credit card processing machine would not charge my account more than $5.98 .. They kept telling me that the remaining balance was $3.70 and since I didnt have cash on me they wanted to try and charge my card again.. So I went ahead and let them try which it did not work. I instantly checked my account balance and show them that the charge for $5.98 was not taken off my account and I proceeded to tell me that it wouldnt be returned to my bank for at least 72 hours and if I had a problem I would have to call my bank .. My balance was over $20 at a time in which I shouldve had no problems purchasing the items but instead I was left with a pending charge to my account as well as no merchandise that I wanted to buy .. This was the worst experience Ive ever had trying to buy gifts for friends especially in a gem store where the energy should be more positive .. They kept telling me to just leave like they didnt want to deal with the situation and were being very short with me and did not want to explain things .. Which only made me more and more frustrated . There are plenty other shops that have a way better variety and selection of stones than this one DO NOT shop here !!

If you enjoy geology, rock carving, rare gemstones or jewelry making you have to go to this store. They have an amazing selection of pre-drilled beads, premade pendants, books, gifts and more stuff than I can list. Its like Disneyland for rock hounds and crafters.
