We needed a new engine for our 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Superior followed up on my inquiry (other companies did not), and was able to quote a price over the phone. They picked up the car and returned it on time and at budget. The new engine is working great. Great folks to work with and very professional.
Felt compelled to write this review after I received my TJ / Jeep Wrangler Rubicon back from the shop today. A few months back, I started hearing the infamous tick of rod knock coming from my 4.0L i6. On the fateful morning that my engine failed, I got the Jeep towed to Jeeperformance in Englewood. Due to supply chain issues, ordering a remanufactured engine block was going to take months, so Charlie at Jeeperformance connected me with Scott at Superior Engines to do an engine rebuild. After reading the existing reviews, I had the impression that Scott or the team might be difficult to work with... but Im writing this review because I did not experience that whatsoever. From our first phone call, Scott was friendly, professional, easy to communicate with, and gave me a realistic expectation for the timeline and work being done. He provided me with timely updates and always called me back if I reached out while he was unavailable. Upon picking up my Jeep today, I learned that they also fixed an issue (cracked exhaust manifold) that had caused numerous headaches for me in the past but previous shops hadnt been thorough enough to accurately diagnose, AND replaced my clutch that was coming due for replacement. My TJ is running beautifully!!! Thank you Scott and team, I appreciate the work you do!!
I can’t say enough good things about Scott and his guys at Superior Engine. My 1955 Chevy pickup needed an engine rebuild. Yes, it took a bit longer than anticipated, but that’s to be expected with a classic vehicle. Scott stayed in contact the entire time, letting me know where things were at. He also went above and beyond. He noticed a leak and replaced the fuel pump, among other miscellaneous things. Again, 66 year old vehicle, there is always something. Had a small hiccup when I got him home (dump truck bed bounced and cut the line to the fuel pump). Scott drove up to Conifer the next day and moved the line and all was well. When he (Big Red) went back into Scott and Superior Engines, for his 500 mile check up, Scott was kind enough to fix two other little issues I was having! Hope to never have to have an engine rebuilt again, but if I did, I’d go back to Scott and Superior Engines!!
Its been 7 years since this company completely replaced my engine, and its running as strong as it was the day I bought my truck.the owner was honest, and very informative.he contacted me whenever there was a additional problem or change in the diagnosis.they also came in right on the estimate.dealing with them was worth every dime I paid.my truck may not be much to look at, but it runs like a monster....thank you superior engine
Took the hubbys truck in to get an engine rebuilt. Theyve taken such amazing care of us and his truck theyve kept us up to date the entire way and Scott has gone above and beyond to make sure everything is running smooth and properly. Could not recommend this company enough!
Scott is very human...he did super job on my 2004 alero...he dealt very well with my insurance company on many occasions...but in the end it was done perfect ...however I hope he and myself will never have to deal with mopar or protect my car insurance again...they did not step up to help pay for the insurance...so go to superior engine for great service stay away from fraud protect my car policies....thank you scott for your patience from protect my car fraud policy....
I was needing a rebuild and had looked up a few places and my gut said bring it out to these guys and Im glad I did! My engine looks great Im putting the dressing back on now. Fantastic service, they set me up with break in oil, gaskets and they were great to talk with! Thanks again ill post again when its done.
Just got my car back really happy with superiors work also did his 500 mile inspection i am super pleased scott was highly recommended and i stand by that thx scott and crew. If you need and engine dont hesitate have superior do your engine you will be happy i am.
So as of now I have only dropped off my 2015 Infiniti Q70 V8, and the work is currently being done. So far the experience has been not only smooth, but actually rather enjoyable. Scott spent all the time explaining the ins and outs, pros and cons, and exactly what work was going to be done, and the timeframe for the work. I had PLENTY of questions, and left with all of them answered. I will edit after I pick the car up, and put a couple miles on it. Looking forward to being back in the VIP...
Extremely helpful, professional and fair on cost .Took extremely good care of my 2016 Ford Focus RS
I got my bronco engine done and its running like a champ!! These guys did a great job on it and painted the block for me also. Thanks it looks and runs awesome.
This mechanic had a shop formerly known as Scotts Engine Repair. He did a faulty engine replacement for my car in the late 90s. I didnt realize it was the same shop until I did some digging. He changed the name for legal reasons. Had another engine replacement which was a dud last year, again, didnt realize it was the same guy. Doesnt stand by work or warranty. Several engine shops around the Denver metro have told story after story about this shop and their repairs. Ask around before using them. Beware and steer clear of Superior Engine AKA Scotts Enignes. Look through these reviews. 13 one star reviews as of today, OUT OF 47!!! Thats awful. And as far as a fake name, there is no way I would put my real name on a negative review for fear of reprisals. A mechanic has your name and phone number after service. Let me assure anyone I am a real customer that had over a year of difficulty dealing with this mechanic. Had I put my name you would have made an excuse as to why the vehicle was not taken care of the 4 different times it was taken back to the shop. You began losing patience and began becoming difficult to deal with. At some point after a mechanic cannot fix the problem you have to make the decision to take it somewhere else. Had the problem been fixed or had you been more willing to help and been more patient, this review would had never been submitted
I had a great experience getting my engine replaced here. Scott was very helpful and went out of his way to find me the right engine at a price that was half of what I was quoted elsewhere. The work was done even sooner than I expected. Highly recommend!
Superior Engines rebuilt mine after the dealership ruined my engine by doing work to it that should not have been done. Scott & his crew were very informative & detailed about what happened. They are actually going to help me w/ info to help me get my $ back from dealer! My engine runs beautiful as well! Thanks for a wonderful experience!!
I have had the pleasure of dealing with Scott and the guys at Superior Engines for 10 years. They are the most honest and straightforward repair shop I have ever dealt with. I have since moved out of state but still send my son to Scott when his cars need repair. If you want a no BS experience Scott is man of great integrity and a they are all very talented technicians.
I did business with these guys over 10 year ago, back in 2007, but I figured I would share my experience with dealing with them. I found some old paperwork from them and was curious to see if they were still around... sure enough, they are.Back in 2007, I bought an old Toyota Cressida with a blown up engine for $500 for a fun project, and pulled the engine out and began looking for someone to rebuild it. After many phone calls to various shops and getting jerked around by all of them, Superior Engines gave me the best quote and sounded confident to take on the job.Once I brought the engine in and they pulled it apart to see what happened to it, the report was ugly. The #5 piston had suffered a detonation, and had been blown into pieces into the oil pan. Not only that, but it gouged up the cylinder walls, and the head was pretty chewed up too. It looked un-saveable.Well, these guys worked their magic, and once I put everything back together, the engine ran flawlessly for the next 6 years I had the car before I sold it.Just judging from the website, it looks like the same guys are still working there. Its been a long time, but the fact that they could save that motor was pretty impressive.
They did everything needed for a hard to find engine. Found it machined it and installed it. Might I add for great price. Great job guys! I dont want to have to need you guys anytime soon, but if needed you are who I will call.
Scott and Brett took excellent care of us, they explained everything that was going on with our diesel truck, and gave us multiple options for repair. We went with what they suggested and the truck runs great! I would highly recommend and will be back again!
Couldnt be happier with Scott and the team at Superior Engines! We bring all of our vehicles here, including the project cars that I screw up... Ive taken seven vehicles here so far. Not only is Scott the most knowledgeable and helpful mechanic Ive ever met, but you can count on getting the right diagnosis the first time. This isnt a shop that will just throw parts at a problem until they fix it - they take the time to figure out the issues, and do the right repairs quickly and for a fair price. This place has saved us thousands of dollars and who knows how much down-time since we started using them. Whether its finding the reason our Subaru was (still...) overheating, or machining the cylinder heads on our racecar, this is a place that can handle any size job and deliver excellent results. Its hard to find honest, quality mechanical work - unless, of course, you go here. Every time weve used this place, their work has been top notch, turnaround time has been fast, and the price point has been excellent (and far lower than other estimates weve received). To top it off, Superior Engines stands behind their work and guarantees their repairs. We wouldnt take our vehicles anywhere else.
Superior Engines replaced the engine in our 2001 Jeep Wrangler back in 2017. They did a great job and we havent had any issues. Theyve also been really responsive when any check engine lights come on and help us resolve the issue or give us pointers on how to fix it. None of the check engine light codes that have come on have had anything to do with the replaced engine but they still take the time to help us out. Overall I would highly recommend Scott and his team.
They are honest, good pricing and my truck runs great after engine being rebuilt! This truck has very sentimental value to me and I couldnt be happier than I am with the quality work, how nice and understanding they are! I would most certainly recommend Superior Engines to ANYONE!! THANK YOU GUYS!! Sincerely, Shannon Bentley
Scott and the crew at his shop are always great to work with ! I always take my vehicle here. I highly recommend this shop. They are honest, fast and the cost of repair is generally less than most shops! I have recommended my family/friends to superior engine for years and I dont see that changing! I recently had to have a power steering rack repl on my truck. The work was done professionally and in a timely manner. As a former mechanic I can strongly vouch for the shop - the work is absolutely top notch !
I just want to thank Scott and his Superior engine crew for helping me and and getting my life back on track. They took my 09 Honda Pilot and made her new again. They know their stuff and I totally recommend. It drives great.
Update: A little over one year later the V8 engine that Scott and his crew remanufactured on one of my trucks is still running extremely well – even better than when it was installed a year ago. Engine has plenty of power, great acceleration, extremely quiet and very smooth. I am very satisfied with the results, and my long time mechanic who installed the engine is very impressed.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Scott and his crew did an excellent job remanufacturing the engine on one of my trucks.I called a lot of shops in the Denver area and no one else wanted to do the build because of the complexity of the job / engine. From the moment I called and talked to Scott I had a good feeling - he emailed an estimate to me right away and allowed for me to specify the parts to be OEM only, and put it in writing. My longtime mechanic noticed that a little bit of oil was leaking from the engine after he put it in, called Scott and he made figuring out what was going on his top priority. It turned out it was a defective OEM rear main seal - not his fault - but he was very thorough making sure that was the only problem, going as far as using a scoped camera and spending a couple days inspecting meticulously. My longtime mechanic was very impressed with the shop, technology that Scott uses, as well as the final product going as far as to say that it looked like a museum piece. The truck now runs better than I can remember. I hope that I never need Scotts help again, but if I or anyone else I know is in need of engine work I would not hesitate to recommend Scott.
I havent even gotten my car back yet but feel compelled to write a review already. Im super impressed by Scott and his team. I screwed up my engine and he agreed to rebuild it for me for a great price and in a seemingly very short time frame. I requested a quote for this and within an hour my car was at his shop. He made me feel at home and was incredibly friendly and reassuring. He actually put me in a good mood despite the fact that I had just ruined my engine. Everyone there seemed to be in great spirits and working really hard, despite it being very close to 5pm. Very happy I chose Superior. Thanks Scott!
My wife and I took our town and country here to get an inspection. The techs were honest and had some recommendations for the van before the road trip. I feel comfortable bringing our vehicles here. Price is very reasonable.
I ended up needing to have the motor rebuilt in my 2004 Toyota Tundra after it developed a rod knock. I came across Superior Engines and after a little research I decided to work with Scott. And after we decided on price scope of work and timeline Scott sent a truck to pickup my truck. When I went to pick up my vehicle after all of the work was done I was really happy with the way the rebuilt engine ran. There was a little problem with one of the spark plugs I called Scott and he jumped on it right away and had it in fixed. Overall I am very happy with the work performed and I would certainly go back to Superior Engines again. Thanks Scott
Good service. Quick turnaround. They pulled the engine on my wifes Forrester, rebuilt it, dropped it back in, all for less than what I could get a rebuilt long block for and with a better warranty. Recommendation to replace clutch was dead on and will save me money on future labor. I am myself a mechanic. Everything was exactly how it should be after the rebuild. Service writer was very professional. Pull up at their shop and you will see these guys are slammed busy with work... and for a reason.
My vehicle (05 Honda Element) had a bad cylinder and needed a complete engine rebuild back in January. Although this is a long overdue review, maybe thats a good thing because I can safely say my engine has been running smoothly for the last 7 months with no issues whatsoever. The guys at the shop were helpful, professional, friendly, and efficient. My vehicle was done in less than 2 weeks. Very affordable as compared to what the dealership was quoting me and a WAY better option than buying a remanufactured engine that has little to no warranty! I would recommend Superior Engines to anyone needing an engine rebuild.
Dont cheap out, go someplace else. Such a bad experience I cant even put it into words. The engine work was never right and I had to ultimately pay for another engine. Waste of time, money and energy.Invoice was sent for the rear main they mention also, no reply.
I cannot possibly express how impressed I am with Scott and his team. I am a business owner and I truly understand the value of ACCURATE business reviews. I needed a new engine for my Kia Borrego (which was only produced in 2009) The dealer quoted a ridiculously high price to put in a used engine with a 30 day warranty. We did our research and found Superior. Yup, we read the reviews of people who werent even CUSTOMERS !!!!! Ummmmmm is this how the competition thinks they will boost their business??? Any intelligent consumer can see through this trash. Scott responded very quickly when we requested documentation of their SIX YEAR SIXTY THOUSAND MILE WARRANTY. In a matter of hours Superior sent a truck to transport my vehicle to their shop at no charge. The proposed estimate was that the job would take two weeks (and over a thousand dollars less!!!) but in actuality I was back in my vehicle in FIVE DAYS!!!! I was told that after 500 miles I was to have an oil change and then return to the shop for the team to evaluate the engine to ensure everything was working well. My baby is running great and I look forward to MANY more years of happy motoring!!!!! Thank you Superior !!!!!
This shop and the crew that works here does awesome work! If youre planning on getting any serious engine work done I highly recommend them. Many shops out there are limited on what they can do, however this shop is knowledged in many ways. Had my 07 Tacoma in there for a very serious oil leak and even though it called for many hours of labor they took extra time on a weekend to get the job done. Again I highly recommend Superior Engines to anyone needing work done on their vehicle. Very honest and hard working crew here!
Hands down, the best engine shop in town!! Superior is extremely thorough and will diagnose and fix any major problem with your vehicle. They take the extra step to make sure there are no other problems even if its not related to the work they are doing. They brought my truck back to life after it was ruined and it has never run better. It can be hard to find a trustworthy shop, Scott and his team are the best and very competent, and had my vehicle completely rebuilt in about a week. In my experience this is unheard of... I highly recommend Superior Engines for all drivetrain and engine work!
They referred meto the worst machine shop in CO. Thats SLS Performance and Diesel.
I spoke with Scott who told me that he could get me a new engine that they were running a special for $3,800. I thought it was a good deal took my truck there, I found Scott to be rather rude and non-professional. The truck has been going back and forth to that shop since January. Recently I had to send it back to the shop. Scott and his workers told me they were 100% sure that the problem was not the engine it was a transmission issue. I didnt believe them and I took it to another shop that builds engines, and they said for sure that its still had piston issues. I sent it back to Scott and he said that they bore too much out of the shaft and that it was fixed. I picked it up took my daughter to cheerleading practice. After practice tried to start the truck no start. My truck has not ran since its been in the shop. Had the alternator the radiator the starter, starter relay to the starter, fuses, neutral safty switch, battery replaced everything that could be tied to starting the car and everything that Scott suggested to have replaced in the truck still does not start. So I thought well maybe the spark plugs in the coil should be changed I pulled the coil out the coil is Full of antifreeze and the spark plug also is full of antifreeze. Scott tells me that the intake manifold gasket has nothing to do with why the truck wont start my whole thing is if the coil is full of fluid and the spark plugs full of fluid how can it ignite to start? I saw your reply Scott, and you are such a liar you never started the car. The tow truck gentleman started the car. But the question is: if it had a new battery why in the world would you need to jump the starter relay to start the car? Fact is that I gave it back to you because you guys bored too big of a hole out of the shaft for the Piston you say you fixed it I drive it from the shop take my daughter to cheer practice and the car shut down and never started since. Thats why I cant deal with you because you are so rude and you lie. Tried to get Scott to take the truck back and look at it again because the car will not start. Fact is the day the tow truck guy got it started. Scott knew exactly what was wrong with it, thats why he would not take it back. So I send it to another shop, but Im sitting here realizing the reason why he would not take that back. Its because there is coolant thats running right through the spark plugs on to the coils its also in the oil which is a big indicator that the car has a blown head gasket. what should have been fixed because that is part of the engine. Instead Im stuck with a car that I never even got to drive and the shop had the car for almost a year. What did i pay for? As for abusive🤣😂😂😂😂 I am a 5 foot lady your a joke, but you did lie about the truck being on the road for three months its been sitting and going back and forth to your shop you are such a liar unbelievable. That is why it has little mileage.😤
They did work on my daughters car and I had to bring it back because it wasnt done right. Then they said they found additional work to be done, of course at our expense. When I went to pay, Scott was shady and even offered me a discount for paying with cash. He told me that he helps out his customers this way and what the IRS doesnt know, wont hurt them. Very poor work done, he didnt replace all the nuts and bolts removed to access various components. Never go there or trust him.
My husband recently purchased a used truck from Rockys Auto. The truck had issues and was sent to Superior Engines for repairs. When we got the truck back the warranty that we received did not have a noticeable VIN or way to distinguish the truck. My husband stopped by to inquire about the warranty and ask if the VIN could be added. He was met with the most rude and unprofessional person who immediately became defensive as if he was trying to hide something. I had read many reviews on the rudeness of this establishment and Scotts defense is always the same we do not show this person as our customer probably because they deal with dealerships and not the truck owners. Believe what you read unprofessionally rude to the max. If you have any cat allergies as I do please do not visit this place Tom cat is allowed to freely roam inside your vehicle I got my truck back with the back seat full of little Toms footprints and now I have to get my truck professionally shampooed so I don’t become ill.
Wish there was negative stars! This is a perfect example when locals say nothing good comes out of Colfax!! This place needs to be shut down. They will rip you off and take advantage of you at every turn. The owner is a real nasty individual that should never interact with customers. Horrible people who dont know how to work on cars. We have steered many people away from here. They have multiple complaints on file with the BBB. Stay away from this hell! They dont back their work and have screwed over several veterans too! Shameful!
Dropped my truck there on 07/25. As Im writing this review today is 10/9 and still waiting to get it back. I never write review as I am a small business owner also therefore I understand the difficult of running a small business. But my experience with this business is getting worse and completely crossed my patience. There were so many of miscommunication and disorganize with this business and I think the owner need to improve himself. Im still waiting to get my truck back as they promise they will have it done next week. I am preparing for the worse situation that can happen at this moment since I completely lost my trust with this business. But I will see until I got my truck back and might update my review if everything goes smoothly.
This place is a joke the owner Scott put three rear differentials in our jeep commander and its still going out three rack and Pinions and it still going out and less work and money for nothing I would recommend him highly recommended would advise everybody in the state of Colorado stay away from this diss honest business and diss honest person
Contacted this company via their web form looking for a quote on rebuilding the 4.7L in my Dodge; this would have been pre-emptive work to replace seals/bearings/etc. That might be getting worn out, as its difficult to find V8 5-spd quad-cab 4x4 trucks anymore, so Im trying to keep this thing alive as long as possible. Absolutely no response from this company, so I can only imagine theyre not interested in pre-emptive work, only disaster recovery. Not sure; but I immediately ditch companies that dont respond to basic inqueries (at all).
Pretty good job fair price
Quick and quality work.
I told you guys if you do not back your service especially to veterans you will have a world of hurt now you have backed out of what you stood behind see ya soon
Total thieves
SCOTT IS THEEE BEST, HE DID A AWESOME JOB PUTTING ENGINE IN MY MUCH JIMMY !!! THANKS, SCOTTGOD BLESSS ✨ + ✨TINA BRISTOWE
