Well before my interview today, I had already liked this store and the environment. Now that I will be working here I think its going to be a great way for me to get some experience in the customer service field. Anyways, stop in, enjoy shopping.
Great selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories. Items are organized by size and color. Employees are very helpful and friendly!.
Everyone working here is always fashionable and so sweet. I find THE BEST clothes here. Ive bought Lf for under $15, retailing in the hundreds. They have top brands and styles. It is an amazing, trendy thrift store.
UTCS is a great little store packed with lots of great finds! I went in on a whim and walked out with a bag of great deals. The men’s section is of course smaller but still a good amount to go through. It’s worth the venture in! Shop small and local!
Love this place I find gems every tine I go it’s always unique !
Ive always been treated with the upmost respect by all girls employeed. Wether Im selling or buying. The prices are unbeatable and the wide variety of clothes to choose from, gets me lost for days. I swear i could go from Open to close and still wouldnt be satisfied. I will conquer this location sooner than later. Its on my bucket list for sure.
I love this place I always find something lovely to take home with me 😍It’s organized and they hace really cute stuff
Great service!! Helped me with looking for items and telling me the sizes!
I sold a bunch of clothes and got enough credit to get a good amount of nice clothing in exchange. I feel like it was a great value to use store credit. If I totaled it up I probably got more money worth than I sold with sales and everything. Will be going back.
Definetley my favorite thrift store! It has amazing brands for really cheap prices! I have found so much brandy melville from here so if you love brandy mel come here!
Super great second hand clothing store. It’s very clean and organized, prices are fair for both buying and selling. Trendy fashions and lots of shoes and handbags as well. Great customer service. I will definitely be back!!
Super nice! Some things are overpriced but I still buy it😍
I come here every two weeks to a month. I always stop here right after hitting the Goodwill across the street.Like any curated thrift store, its kind of like a thrift shopping speedrun, at the cost of higher prices. The higher end stuff behind the glass and on the shelf is pretty reasonably priced, much better value and discounts than the Forever 21/Zara stuff.Employees are super helpful, but if you have anxiety like me, you may need to wait until they notice you need help, or just ask for help.Employees all seem to be in high school, and it doesnt seem like they have a uniform or strict customer service rules. Which I LOVE. They all just help because they are nice people, instead of because they are forced to.
For years now, I have stopped in the shop every other month or so, and I typically buy a handful of stuff every time, no complaints! Ive only sold clothes with them once before, years ago, and the experience wasnt great (they did not go through one of my totes of clothes!).so this last visit I came to sell, with little expectation, and they still ruined this place for me. honestly, I dont think the staff knew what they were doing, and I could tell they had little or no knowledge of alot of my items. when they were done with the buying process they gave me an offer that was insulting, but knowing how this business works I took no offense. I had some questions and either the employee I was talking to knew he was ripping me off or he didnt actually know anything because he couldnt answer some basic questions I had. he literally avoided answering my questions and instead gave me random information that was clearly not the answer to my question. either way he shouldnt be buying if he cant answer some questions about the process.I brought in 2 totes of nicely folded, organized clothing, shoes and sunglasses. what I got back was ridiculous. Not a single piece of clothing was folded and none of the sunglasses were in their cases. Im not sure if its their policy to just throw everything back in the tote or bag, but come on. it was slow and I was the only person selling clothing there. normally, it wouldnt bother me, but the sunglasses were getting scratched. how hard is it to put the sunglasses back in the case?super bummed out with the whole experience and would not recommend selling with them.
My first time coming to this store was amazing!! The employees were very friendly and made sure I was taken care of! The clothes are very nice, they look brand new, and overall are very cheap for the name brand and quality!! I will definitely be coming back and bringing more friends along :))
Uptown cheapskate is a hidden gem. I can always find something great ❤️
They have closing here that look brand new designer Brands Calvin Klein Steve Madden Kenneth Cole Polo Hannah got the higher into Yeezys Versace is a nice place to check out
I get all of my clothes here. You can find some great deals
Good staff working here.If you ask and Listen to them and follow advice, good to sell clothes regularly.
Tess and alexia were so great. They were very respectful. They def deseve a raise. Thank you guys
Very clean and aesthetically appealing for a second hand store, and the first hand items sold are so cute and great prices!
I make every effort I can to come directly to this place even as “out of towners” for their local selection.-Perfect-LT
Very helpful staff, great selection, great prices. Got 4 complete outfits and boots+accessories for $149!!!
My favorite place. Not only for the great clothes at amazing prices but the vibe and atmosphere is amazing!! Jo Ann the store owner is awesome so sweet and so stylish she goes and get brand new on trend clothes from LA just for us!!
Kinda pricey for a second hand store.
Highly recommend not to sell your stuff here, highly inexperienced buyers. From brand new to barely used items, you will not get what it should be worth. Won’t be coming here ever again. Teenage buyers I don’t think so.
Everybodys always so kind patient helpful. I actually brag about this place to our guests at work and many of them have come back very pleased.
I always love all the clothes here! Always super t trendy. Great if youre looking for school clothes for middle school/high school boys and girls. ❤️
My daughter and I show up here all the time. We always have a pleasant experience. And tonight May 24th 2019 was customer appreciation with games and a giveaway. I won one of the games. So all in all we had a fabulous time.
Honestly I love buying clothes at uptown, but DO NOT SELL WITH THEM! huge rip off!! I brought them a basically brand-new pair of doc Marten boots and they offered me 10$. I understand they need to resell them at reasonable prices, but 10$ for a 100$ worth pair of shoes?! What a joke!
Usually completely totally love the store ever since they open but the other day we went there and it was atrocious the staff was all super young they used to do these coins where you could bring your own bag or go bag list and they would donate $0.05 to some charity staffed and even know what I was talking about they were super rude and not helpful at all and just I dont know what has happened to the store but they need to hire better staff member or something maybe some things a little older but the staff used to be amazing what happened. Did happen have a super good find a finding a pair of Converse for my son but other than that I mean the customer service was used to complete turn off.
So I never write reviews but I Went to sell clothes today at this location and while I was nicely greeted by one worker (the only good part of the experience) was told it would be a small wait since there were others in front of me! Cool no problem, a few random people came in and went directly to sell a few items vs a bag but got treated right away. Waiting longer... after the place got a massive rush and was significantly understaffed with the “for sale” counter put on hold for cash registers... finally get my clothing looked at (some brand new with tags still on, a few designer bags worth hundreds, brand new shoes in original boxes, etc) and as I’m awaiting my total for items “that we will take” a customer in front of me with dingy, very worn, and forever 21 and cheaper brands gets a whopping amount back! I’m like ok cool this place must be better than Buffalo Exchange and others that legit give you pennies! So my turn comes... and I’m told my items are worth maybe $3-9/piece?! An $80 pair of never used jeans with tags on is worth $5? And a $300 designer leather bag used once is worth “maybe a little more”. I understand that they have to resell at affordable prices back to customers but brand new clothes from legit nice stores get less than a brand like Forever 21? Boggles my mind! If you have nice items better off using an online service and selling at what your clothes are actually worth.
They are understandably picky on women’s clothing but taking my clothes, brothers, and boyfriends I can get great store credit to shop around. I live inDana Point but this is the closest place like this that I love. Going back again and again 😂👍🏻
Staff members are very nice, however when I went to sell, they didn’t tell me what they took and what they put back in my bag. I would’ve liked them to let me know the items and what each item was worth rather than telling me total is blank, sign here. I also expected the price a little more than 7 dollars for a Fear of God jacket. Overall friendly staff and good prices for what they have to offer. And the dude that helped me had a sick Guns and Roses tee :)
Okay prices but the quality of the clothes is good.Trendy and good brands.Quite organized and friendly.
Ive never brought anything in for Sale, only have made purchases. They always seemed courteous. I love the selection of absolutely everything fashion!! Always leave with something.
Really good selection, but you need to visit occasionally to see whats fresh in the store. The staff is friendly, helpful and seems to have a good eye about what to bring into the store.
I called twice to ask about details because I have never been there I was told things that was different from what happened there I had put two bags together full of things that she told me to bring. From flat shoes to summer dresses summer clothes anything thats casual younger generation type thing I get there and they take 20 minutes to look through them and then they tell me for six pieces theyre going to give me $28 first of all the pieces they picked one piece is at least $50 retail and they are all in excellent shape so its not just a waste of time waste of the drive and its a rip-off. No thanks !!!
Great store for teens but never acknowledged when we walk in
The service has been improving at this location. They have a pretty good selection of clothes, but I think they could be a bit more picky with what they buy to resell. It can be a bit overcluttered and a number of the clothes Ive looked at were stained or had holes so make sure to triple check before you buy! Returns are easy but are for store credit only.
So many great clothes at reasonable prices, could easily drop a hundo and get like 8-10 great pieces! Girls were super nice too!
Lots of selection of mens clothing, which is rare for a thrift store. Well organized, clean, good fitting rooms. I will definitely be back.
Love this little boutique! Always amazing finds, trendy AF, nice staff and seasonal options at an affordable price!!!!
One this store is disgusting. It smells horrible the minute you walk in and very muggy. They dont greet you and the staff is not friendly. Ive come in multiple times and they dont even bother to look at my resale clothing. I came in and I set my basket on the table for them to look at my clothing for resale. The associate looked at one item and decided not to go through the rest and declined my clothing. She said it looked too fancy and they are more casual. (I had casual items in there as well) I had clothes from Arden b, forever 21, and other cute and savy stores all in good condition. All clothing that matched the description they are looking for yet she didnt even bother looking at anything else.Im now taking it personal and feel like I am being judged by my look since I come in usually in gym clothes or soccer gear. I am Hispanic and this location is near an area where many Hispanics live.
Prices too high for quality of merchandise. Impossible to make any money consigning, better to donate and write it off.
If you like Treasure Hunting, time to spare, THIS IS THE PLACE! Came out with $120 worth pair of real Doc Martens for $25. Barely worn. YAY! My quest was complete.
Pls vaccum floor especially the fitting rooms. Thanks!
It has a good selection of clothes to sell and gives a good exchange rate for the clothes you donate.
This place used to be really cool, but I havent seen anything super good there recently. I get maybe one thing every now and then. They rip you off big time when you take your clothes in.
Brought $1,200 worth of clothes in 4 bags. Girls looked at 2 items and had me waiting for 15 mins, then said clothes has to be college age wear. Im 25 years old. Ill stick with donating to Goodwill and Salvation Army from now on.
I only give this place one star because as someone who works retail and hardly comes by enough hours and pay to live off comfortably, the clothing is reasonably priced to shop. As far as the shopping experience though, I have never come across an employee who was genuinely helpful. They are rude or make me feel less than and unimportant which as a retail worker I feel is not the standard of service that anyone should receive ever. A retail worker is not your maid or your servant, however, they should still act as though they have some respect for you as a person especially if you treat them with respect. I dont feel respected here as a shopper. As far as selling goes, I give 0 stars. Last time I tried to sell a few years ago I was told my stuff was too old, not trendy enough. Granted they werent wrong because although I am in my early twenties I have always preferred vintage styles but the service again was bad. I recently tried again with newer somewhat trendier items that were gently used, I had three full bags, and they took nothing. Told me they werent taking sweaters at this time and that certain nicer fabrics they also werent taking (I had also dresses and shirts and pants and gently used shoes and accessories, almost a full walk in closet worth of outfit choices that all my friends would take off my hands if they were the same size yet they found nothing... Okay, sure...). Upon lugging my bags out the door I noticed difficulty with items spilling out because they just threw things back into the bags carelessly. I sold some things at Buffalo Exchange and not only were they friendly and took the said fabrics that Uptown refused to take but they also were kind enough to take the time to attempt to refold items and place them into the bags nicely even though they had a line out the door. If you have things to sell, I recommend taking the drive to Costa Mesa because the service is better and youll most likely make money. I was disappointed that I wasted my time and the few times I have been to Uptown I have always left extremely disappointed wether buying or selling. I dont understand how they have stayed in business honestly. I never write a bad review but I feel others should be aware of what they are getting into with this place before they decide for themselves if its worth their time and effort.
Basic stuff. Sort of a forever 21
Im really disappointed in Uptown Cheapskate. For years, Ive considered them as one of my favorite stores, but they have really gone downhill. Shopping there today I could hardly find anything I liked. Im 22, yet their selection made me feel so old and untrendy! It seemed like half the things in the store were crop tops, onesies, or cold shoulder tops. It was very unorganized today, and the selection was really only suited for very young girls.
I’m really confused with this store. I brought in a bin full of clothing and accessories to sell and 2 bags full of clothing from my daughter. They went through my daughter’s bags and not mine. They told me to look around because it will take 20 mins. When they called my name, I’m surprised that they did not go through my bin at all. Everything was arranged the same way as it was given to them. I asked them if they went through it and they said yes. But I know they didn’t, because it will take a while to go through it. In any case, It was full of gently used brand name clothes. Too bad, in the bin I have gently worn dresses from Calvin Klein, Banana Republic pants, shorts and skirt, Tahari skirt that still has a tag on it. I also have Express Jeans, Express dress, Express leather jacket and many more. Not including a Dooney and Bourke Purse, Forever 21 purse (still tag on it), Forever 21 shoes (never worn). But then again when I was looking around the store the only brand names they have are Brandi Melville and Forever 21 clothing. The shoe brands they have are mostly Qpids brands (never heard of it) they are all booties of every style and some Converse. So the store is really geared for teenagers. They are trying to be Brandi Meville store that’s why they went through my daughter’s bags and not mine. My clothes are geared towards women with known name brands. In any case, I’m glad they didn’t take it because I can probably sell it online for more. I don’t think I will shop here because it’s not my style. I’m 46 yrs old and not 16. For what it’s worth, it’s too expensive for used Brandi Melville clothing. The price difference between a new Brandi and an old Brandi clothing are very minimal. I’d rather go to the real Brandi Melville store for my daughter. It’s not worth selling or buying here. Not to mention, there is a certain smell in the store. Old clothes smell that has not been laundered.
After an hour wait for my clothing appraisal, they said nothing was in style for this season and some were too worn. I wore my dress shirts maybe twice... thanks for wasting my time. 🙄 super annoying.
1) I wish they had a list of requirements for the clothing they are willing to buy. Trendy and for teenagers is a vague description. There are so many different styles these days and this store looked more like a used version of Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. I brought in a lot of Forever 21 and it didnt quite make the cut, but thats totally okay!2) I think Im giving three stars because the service was meh and the prices are almost (and sometimes are) at the same prices as Forever 21. Also heard the way another worker was talking to a woman with a lil bit of broken English and it rubbed me the wrong way, but might be a little bit of an overreaction. I dont know.3) Those of you who want to sell, remember that you need your license number. I also saw other people selling and the prices that they offered were meh. Better than nothing, but still a lil cheap haha.
Poor customer service. Unfriendly staff. Dont waste your time trying to sell here, they will not bother to even LOOK through your items. I would rather have the employee tell me initially that they are only looking for specific items such as X and Y than to PRETEND to look through 3 entire bags in 90 seconds (which somehow magically folded themselves back up exactly as I originally had bagged them, at lightning speed..😑).As far as purchasing, you are better off going to Goodwill or Savers by far. Though Ive found a few decent looking items here, they are very low quality and dont last long. Overall the unpleasant experience is not really worth it. The sunglasses especially are not worth $10. Poor quality lenses that always fall out..what a waste.
The prices were great sadly in this area they moved :/ hopefully they come back in style lol
Good prices and cute outfits
Im so tired of hearing about this place on my pandora station when its basically a good will for teenagers. Its not as great as they advertise it to be, so dont waste your time. Just pay full price for the same item that doesnt have armpit stains...
Good selection and nice staff.
Cutest high brand clothes for super cheap! It was a dream!
Great deals. selection for men could be better but its understandable why its not.
Good place to shop for deals normally but sale today was a little disorganized. No space to walk at all.
Great prices. Decent selections
Well-organized thrift store catering to the young adult crowd.
Love this store, great !! Service
Clean store but everything is WAY overpriced for secondhand. $15 for Forever 21 and Mossimo! I’d rather go to Goodwill.
Deals & Steals! Some of the items are brand new at half off! Crazy discounts and more sale reductions.
Always find great stuff here that is brand new
Not only is this place a joke but extremely bad service by teenagers with horrible attitudes. Their website and facebook arent linked and website says one thing and facebook page a different. They really need to get their pages in order so they dont waste someone elses time like they wasted mine. I had Michael Kors J lo and other top name brand items and they would take none of them. We arent taking jackets or jeans. I had shoes as well and they werent good enough even though they are brand new and still have price tags on them. Never going here again AMD telling all my friends and facebook friends and family NOT to show or sell there.
A little bit pricey for second hand clothing.
Fun store, great brands at half the price!
Legit like this place. They actually have some mens clothes (as opposed to other places) and the selection isnt made up of terribly old clothes.
Good clothing at a good price
Great store with cool deals :)
Overly selective buyers. Most merchandise isnt priced well enough to move.
Quality declined but the prices increased. I was disappointed by my last visit.
Cheap shorts. Got three pair for $33!
Big selection of vintage clothes
I love this store!!!
More of a platos closet type space
Okay staff and male selection limited.
Horrible service... 😞
Love this store!
