Let me start with - I have found my lifelong mechanic for my 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL.Steve was wonderful!! He is EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE!!I brought my Benz to him to fix anything that needed fixing. He went over the entire car and did just that - at a reasonable price ! He explained everything that he did, why he did it and how. I am thoroughly pleased with him and his shop. If you have a European car I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you call Steve .An honest mechanic doing an honestly great job!!

Thank you Steve! You helped me a ton in 2016 when I needed to drive home to my then fiancé from Jax as my X5 died due to a water pump and thermostat failure. You did a stellar job and got me on my way same day. Beyond grateful for your help that day.

I drove my Mercedes down for spring break and didn’t make it all the way. It was stuck and the head gasket blew. Steve helped me so much to get it to his place and get it checked out. He gave me no problem watching over it for me. Steve was very informative and helped me above and beyond. Very appreciative that there are still people out there like him to help in a hard time like this and not take advantage. Give him your business and I am sure you will be pleased.

I replaced the clutch pedal bushings on my 08 Cooper S, but after the job was finished, my air bag system and cruise control were in error or not working. I contacted Steve and arranged to drop off of my car. Steve went through the diagnostics and corrected all error codes and adjusted my brake light switch to correct the cruise control issue. His work was quick and neat, and even printed out a sheet on how to adjust the brake switch myself, if need be. Very polite and professional. I will not hesitate to bring my car to him in the future.

Brought my 1972 Triumph TR6 in for clutch repair. I originally thought the problem was a much more serious transmission problem but after I told Mr. Wheeler the symptoms, he was positive the problem was the clutch, not transmission. Bottom line, he could have made this a much more expensive repair but was honest and straightforward. When I tell any garage what I have to be worked on, they look at me like I am from Mars. If they cant plug into a computer and have it diagnose the problem, they do not want to deal with it. Not so here. Will definitely come back when necessary.

Traveling from Orlando our alternator died. We were fortunate to randomly do a Google search and locate Steve Wheeler auto repair. Steve and Matt not only replaced our alternator but were also concerned with our comfort during the wait for the part to arrive. We are very thankful that we found this auto repair shop and highly recommend their service.

My experience at Steve Wheeler Automotive was nothing short of outstanding. My car was brought there and immediately assessed. Mr. Wheeler shopped around on the computer to find the most inexpensive replacement part and quoted me an extremely fair and reasonable price to complete the job. All of this while treating me as though I was a member of his family. Mr. Wheeler and his Lead Tech Matt were very knowledgeable and truly professional. If I lived closer to Lake City, I would trust them with all of my automotive needs.

I highly recommend Steve Wheeler Automotive. My husband and I bought a used 2001 Jetta in September of 2013 and were referred to Steve by a mechanic in Mayo who did not work on European cars. Steve took the time to speak with us at length in reference to the repairs. Steve is honest, informative and I am so happy that we found him. He is truly the epitome of mechanics. Thank you Steve!Sincerely,Brigitte H. Wall

Very thorough when checking out my Mini Cooper.I had some unusual lights come on my dash, when I took it in to him, he was very kind, and within a few hours, he had figured out why the mystery light was on.There are sensors that were on the valve stems covers of my tires...Wow!The price was extremely reasonable, and we both learned something.

I was driving my friends F-250 pick up when it started making a terrible noise and running rough. I called Matt and told him what happened and he knew before I even got the truck to the shop what was wrong with it ( it blew a spark plug out) . Matt was able to fix it in a very reasonable period of time at a price that was less than the dealer would charge me. I highly recommend them even for domestics .

Im putting this review all over wherever I can review this place just to get it out there, I am writing this from my own personal experience as a warning! DO NOT go to this mechanic!!! I took a while after my visit to review to do some research and REALLY confirm my suspicions, and they were true! Dont let this mans Im a Christian man façade fool you, he is a lazy and dishonest mechanic that will not check your car fully, cut corners, or just straight up scam you. I went there with a suspension issue on a 02 S500 and he replaced the air compressor and the front right strut, air compressor was needed, but the car went down on the rear passenger side, so why the front right? Next day, SAME EXACT PROBLEM! man lied straight to my face saying it was always the front. SO. on top of all of that, how could it get worse? OH BOY IT CAN! and did. I took the car to my AUTHORIZED Mercedes dealer, and as it turns out, my ride height sensor was freezing at night *obviously, it got below freezing around the time at night* and thus, causing the side that the sensor is located on, to sag, my struts NEVER leaked, and the sensor was replaced for around 200 dollars and calibrated. CAR IS FINE NOW. and apparently always has been, just got too cold for the electronics, This man scammed me out of a few thousand and the ONLY reason I didnt sue him is cause its my word against his. I decided to take it as a learning experience to always do my own research as I urge you guys to do as well. NEVER trust these Im a Christian man people, they are more than likely just like this man and are trying to use it as a cover for their lies, scams, or laziness. TLDR: This man is a TERRIBLE dishonest mechanic!

I drove my 1984 Rabbit GTI from NY to Lake City, and I developed a couple problems on the way down that I couldnt pin down. I Googled for a VW specialist near me, and his name came up. I also asked some locals for shops near by, and Steves name came up also. I dropped my car off to him. I saw that he was busy with other work, and learned that his partner was off the entire week. I didnt expect to get a call the next day that he fixed the problems and that the car was ready! Fantastic.

My sons car broke down on the way back to FSU and Steve Wheeler Automotive was the closet service garage that worked on VWs. He was told by the tow truck driver that his wife and daughter both owned VWs and he would take them no where else to get services. The next morning I gave Steve a call and he informed me that the vehicles engine was damaged. He suggested I not make the investment into a vehicle that had 132k miles. His professional advise was extremely candied and provide me excellent information without charging me for the diagnostic process. I would highly recommend Steve Wheelers Automotive as a business with integrate. I would gladly suggest his services to anyone needing auto repair within the Lake City, Fl area.
