Hans deserves more than 5 stars. I brought in a Harmon Kardon Stereo Recital II Model TA3000X and a Garrard auto turntable type A mark II for repair/refurbishing these components were part of a custom stereo system my parents purchased at Hi-Fi Haven in Whittier, Ca in the early 60s.The stereo was built into a custom cabinet. Sometime in the late 80s it stopped working. When my mom sold her home I kept the stereo to restore later. Here recently Hans restored both of these components to their original luster. This system is married to two Wolverine stereo speakers. It sounds as spectacular as it did back in the 60s. Restorations cost and so I have to chuckle at prior posts about Hans pricing. What he did for me was worth every cent. My 99 year old mother now listens to her Tom Jones And Doris Day favorites, that is priceless.
I was very disappointed with my service. I called ahead because I’m so far away and he told me he had repaired hundreds of Spartan radios. It was my parents, the first piece of furniture they bought in 1941. I couldn’t wait to play their 78 records which I told him about. I brought it down in my car and he said he could repair it, put new handles, 78 player, repair radio and replace webbing on front, which I had bought and sent to him. When I got it home, there was no 78 on record player, only one handle replaced, no webbing but radio fixed and new speaker. I called him and asked for some money back but he laughed and said bring it back. We’re a hundred miles away and he knew that. I will not take it back and will not recommend them!
Hans & his son were nice & helpful. Maybe a bit quirky or eccentric, but so am I. So it was fun talking shop with them. At the end, they had the speaker I needed!
Brought my 30 year old Carvin guitar tube amp head in which was blowing horrific static/feedback; new tubes, reverb, and jack cleaning later, thing making that beautiful Nirvana ambience again! Neighbors and Family not appreciating the noise but I sure am, LOL.Thanks so much OC Electronics!
Good reviews nice people very knowledgeable on many kinds of electronics
Call the guy then ask if they can fix a vintage car record player and he said yes we can fix it but drove 25 miles just for nothing he cant fixed ( sorry thats not the story youre making other story but went to another shop and they listen to me very polite person not like you very rude!!!
A bit pricey however my amplifier has never sounded so great. Thanks,Guitar Doors
Great customer service!!!!! Hans was extremely knowledgeable on vintage items. I brought my Pioneer turntable to have it checked out, Hans service the TT with a new belt, new cartridge, stylus and lube all of the critical parts. Now the TT sounds like a real gem. It performs like a champ playing old vinyls. His knowledge and experiences in vintage gears are very impressive and he has been extremely helpful to the customer. Will definitely go back and recommend to others.
Dishonest Scammer!Sold a vintage 100% functional CD player to him via a popular online selling platform. I mean talk about instant red flags, shady (according to Yelp and Google) electronic repairman buying electronics with the seller at his mercy. He claimed to hear noises and opened the unit. Upon opening the unit, he noticed a cracked gear which he claimed will break in the future. He wanted a partial refund of HALF the total amount which included shipping. Knowing this crook was trying to pull a fast one, I offered $20 to get him the heck away from me. He decided to open a (as defective, so I pay shipping) return for a full refund. Few days later he decides to keep the unit claiming he can repair it. He claimed there were additional issues with it and he already made repairs (needed new belts, etc.) and now wants the $20 partial refund. Mind you, I did not authorize for him to open or any perform work to the unit. I refused to give him anything since I know he would be sending a piece of junk back. I would just take the return to the police and get all my money back like I have successfully done in the past. I did not sell him a working item to open it up, swap parts or make repairs. What an annoying buyer, blocked this crook and hope no one deals with him again.
I originally took a guitar amp for repair but I was in a rush and my amp wasnt working so I paid $150 to get it working. When I ask for the old parts he said he didnt have them. I started to pry more into what he did and I took it as that he just replaced a bad tube, for $150!!!A few months later I had another amp that needed repair so I left it with him to get a quote. He called me back saying it would cost $350. That concerned me so I went to go pick up my amp. When I stopped by he was asking me why I wasnt interested in getting it repaired. He then asked me why wouldnt I spend $350 for repairs on a $1200 amp. I looked at him, took my amp and walked out. Apparently he bases his quote on the value of the item instead of the actual repair. I finally found someone else who did the repairs for $165.This guy is crooked.
Overpriced services in my opinion. They charged me almost $100 to change a jack on a guitar pedal. At least get a quote before you drop your stuff off here- just a warning.
Great job!
