Excellent customer service. Called with 10 minutes to close on a Friday afternoon for a Saxophone sheet music book needed for Monday. Immediately the nice sales person put their hands on the book and held it for me until I got there. They just made a repeat customer especially since I didnt know they were so close to me! I love that its supporting an individual instead of a chain as well. Thank you very much!

This is my first stop for those times when my kids need sheet music or supplies for their instruments Their selection is beyond belief, and their staff is extremely helpful. If I’m looking for something, even if I have a lot of questions about it, they’ll take the time to answer my questions until I know I’m making the right decision.While I don’t have these needs currently, based on how the staff has worked with me so far, I believe Lafayette music would also be my first choice for instrument rentals and purchases. They have an incredible selection, and their prices are more than reasonable. I know if I had any questions or concerns, they’d make sure to stick with me until I was completely satisfied. That’s not something you get at every music store, but its here!

We have gotten multiple violins here. The selection and quality has been great. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They are also incredibly knowledgeable about all things music. If you have instrument or music needs, definitely stop by here!

This is a great music store. Especially if you play piano and guitar, Mark has an unbelievably good selection of printed materials and sheet music to choose from. I was very impressed with the selection of method books, jazz method books and fake books, as well as the enormous selection of classical and modern/pop sheet music! The staff is very helpful and every time Ive gone in they have greeted me and are always offering to help with any questions I have. Highly recommended.

Great music store! I was able to find everything I was needing for each instrument I teach: Flute, Piano, Voice and guitar and much more . The staff were extremely helpful while I was looking for Festival music! I LOVE that this music store also has FEDERATION MUSIC organized for piano. It was very, very helpful to a private music teacher like myself! Thank you Lafayette Music! I plan on being a return customer!

Their new location is a little cramped but only because they have so much inventory! Great selection of piano methods and repertoire collections for all levels. Highly recommend. Plus they have a 15% discount for music teachers!

Lafayette Music has moved to 400 W. So. Boulder Rd in Lafayette and now has much more space. Lafayette Music was just voted East Countys number 1 music store in the Yellow Scene Magazines Best of the West issue. If you havent visited the store since the big move your missing a musical treat. There are many more guitars to view, more percussion and tons of print music. You may browse to your hearts content!!!!

Well, I like this store because I there is usually the stuff I need, but business is a little slow. Not saying anyone who is reading these reviews shouldnt go, just be prepared to wait for a bit. Otherwise, the store is great. Lots of instruments and music books. I would recommend this store to anyone who is interested in learning music!

I can not believe the level of disrespect I received by attempting to shop in your store. You really should pack up and move out of town. You are only here to exploit the student musicians without supporting the actual musical community. The musicians in this community deserve a much better experience than that which is received from your failing business. Horrible!! So much for supporting local business. You should feel shame.

I hate giving bad reviews of local music stores, but in this case I have to. The sales staff was very helpful but a white haired woman whom I suspect is the owner, came over and insulted me twice. The second time she insisted I stop looking at the mouthpieces in the cabinet and look at them online instead. Earlier she had insinuated that I needed an employee to closely observe me, because of fear of theft. What a horrible customer experience. Ill never go back, and if youre so eager for me to go online then Ill buy from a company that is not asking unrealistically high prices. Dont waste your time, or make the drive to Boulder instead.

Very wide variety of sheet music and instruments. The new location is a little tight, but its nice to still have them around.

Clerk made a mistake, got into an argument over what he said, owners showed up and started in with Take us to court! rather than listening to the circumstances. No customer service whatsoever. Apparently incompetence runs in the family-owned business. Nice store from a product standpoint, but terrible customer service. Left feeling screwed and unheard, with venomous wounds from really cranky people who dont care to listen or do the right thing. Not sure how this store can survive with this kind of rudeness.

I had a very semilar experience just like Mark. Lafayette Music clerk sold me a wrong music book for my childs music class and I returned it. I only wanted to tell them how I got a wrong book, and the owner started to be very offensive and rude saying So what do you want us to do? Fire her (the clerk who gave me a wrong book)??? and she was checking the book as if there is any damage or tear...I thought it would be their benefit to correct their information so they will not get any returns again. I was not upset or anything. They treated me like I was making a such a big deal... so I tried to talk to them that is not my intension and repeatedly told them I was only letting them know the mistake they made. She would not listen to me at all and raised her voice so others in the store started to see what is going on and store. I am not going back to this store.

The owner was rude. I was trying to rent an instrument for my child for school. I felt like they were annoyed with my questions. It seemed that me trying to give them some business was an inconvenience to them. I will not go back.
