(writing this on behalf of my sister) a single mom, with a job... Needed my car checked and hopefully fixed. Showed up for my scheduled appointment at 4 p.m., nobody was there, the doors were locked and I could not reach anybody via phone. This place is absolutely un-organized and unprofessional!! If it gave me the option, I would rate it with 0 stars!!*After I left my review, I read through about a dozen other reviews. The pattern I noticed is that if youre a man or a female with an expensive vehicle, the service is great. My sister is a hard-working single mother with an in-expensive car. Just saying.....if you want good service, you have to be of the male persuasion or wealthy. So now adding snobby discrimination to my review. Smh

The people at Elston Auto are very helpful and considerate to all of the problems that come with getting a car repaired. When I was ready to pick my car back up they showed me pictures of everything they did along the way which further exemplified the accountability and honesty they showed. They go above and beyond and at a inexpensive price. I would highly recommend anyone who needs their car serviced or repaired to go here.

You will not find a honest, trust worthy shop like theirs in town. In my experience, they have gone out of their way to make my needs their priority.I needed headlight assembly replacement. I scheduled an appointment at my convenience to drop my car at their shop. They ordered a part and fixed it for a reasonable price.If you want to get your car fixed, call these guys, and I have no doubt they will earn your trust just like they did mine.

Took my 2007 Hyundai Azera to Elstons to have my new keys programmed to my ignition. They worked very fast! I just showed up (later then when I said Id be there) and they still got it done fast! very affordable and did a great job! Would and will recommend to anyone needing work done.

This repair shop is a real find and the owners are extremely accommodating and professional. I was having trouble with the electrical work in my 2004 MDX which the Honda dealer in town was not able to repair. It was diagnosed and fixed in under an hour which also meant them staying late to complete the job. I would highly recommend them to anyone as not only do they do good work but they were extremely personal, knowledgeable and the price was extremely fair. all in all, terrific service.

Elston took in my car after I had it in at another shop here in Lafayette. They took great care of my car due to overheating issues, and even looked at it again when it was acting up again a little while after the first visit. Would definitely reccommend to anyone in the area with their auto needs!

Ive been having detailing my Audi S5 for almost three years now, and they do an excellent job every single time! Since the local dealers mechanics are inefficient and does bad job, I go to Elstons for minor problems. They fix it and their price is really fair too! Definitely recommend!

Excellent, caring, service experience. Very competent analysis and resolution of a difficult electrical problem on my older vehicle.I was in West Lafayette from out of town and broke down on Friday night at 5:00. After calling several shops with only sorry were about to close I called Elston and received immediate support for a tow to their shop. My older vehicle had a difficult electrical problem which they were able to diagnose and repair. I am keeping their number for additional service when in the area. I also am recommending to family and friends who live there.

My wife and I were moving from Cincinnati to Chicago. After a few moving pains, we attempted to take the last car load from Cincinnati. Around Lafayette, the battery blew and the engine began to overheat. Luckily I managed to pull over before any real damage was done. I googled the top rated garage nearby and found Elston Auto. I initially dialed a 1800 towing number, who must have decided we were not worth calling back. Within 30 minutes the tow truck arrived. When we arrived at Elston, we were somewhat alarmed that they had quite a few cars they had no pulled into the garage yet. We began to scramble to make taxi arrangements, hotels etc. I explained to them the problem, that I knew the battery blew, and that it had broken a belt. There was also some minor heat damage on a valve.The folks at Elston stayed well after hours just to work on our car, and gave us the best auto customer service I have ever had! A few hours later they had us back on the road, (even charging us THEIR cost for the towing!). Needless to say, if anyone is in the area I would highly recommend! Their service was unparalleled with any auto service that I ever received in the Cincinnati area, thanks!

Run! Hide your vehicle! Without getting into the long and boring details of my horrible experience with these mechanics (I put this in quotations because every time I actually showed up at the shop it was only staffed by some kid who was definitely not certified in anything) I can tell you that it involves a three week wait time for a job that involved a starter, flywheel, tapping a bell housing, and dropping a transmission twice. I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to return my truck four days after they said it would be finished. When they did return it, which involved me going to the shop and yelling at them because they still did not have the freaking clutch in my truck, they reinstalled the clutch improperly. This led to dangerous driving conditions as my truck was becoming increasingly difficult to get into gear. They even left a grease rag in my front suspension. Their communication is also god awful. Most of the time their listed number is hooked up to a fax machine and when you do get through you get the pleasure of hearing terrible excuses for how slow their service is from a lady who has the personality of a door knob. I would strongly suggest that anybody reading this should find a different mechanic. Also, does anyone else notice the identical reviews by Charity and Brandon Gustin? Im seriously wondering if these guys pad their reviews.

I used to be a regular customer with Elston Auto when i was a student at Purdue University, and moved to the west coast of Florida the day after I graduated...i recently had car issues and to get the car (2001 Dodge Stratus R/T) looked at by a Chrysler dealership alone was $110, which was not feasible and did not work well with my budget. I called Elston Auto and talked with Jay, describing the symptoms of my car, and he was able to advise me what to do and how to fix it, and low-and-behold, the car runs and sounds great again! even a 16-hour drive away, Elston Auto is reliable, and Bless everyone that works within the company!

If you love being treated like youre trash and love being taken advantage of, then you have found the perfect auto garage.I would not recommend Elston Auto Repair to my worst enemy. They provide terrible customer service. If there is any sort of problem, they would find any way to put the blame on you and make it seem like it was all your fault. Instead of dealing with problems, they literally RUN away. RUN away. If you have gas in your tank when you take your car in for service, you wont have it when you get your car back. Want your mechanic to go through your vehicle? Elston Auto will make sure to snoop through your things.No one deserves to be treated the way they treat their customers. If you need to have any sort of auto service, please take your business elsewhere.

I have taken my truck here on multiple occasions for repairs on everything from ball joints to brakes and have never been disappointed. Elston Auto has been fair and prompt with the service of my vehicle every time its been here, and what was wrong with it has been well explained to me, as well as what is needed to fix it. The quality of service found at Elston Auto has not been matched by any other shop or dealership that i have ever used, and i would highly recommend their service to anyone that has an issue with their vehicle.

Well where do i begin? 1st they sold me a car for a cheap price told me all it needed was a new battery and some work under the hood. I bought the car and a week later i had to take it back because it was driving horrible. they held my car for another month fixing it now they told me my censors needed replaced. at this time my total was already at a 1000 dollars remind you i just bought this car off of them. now Im in it 2200 dollars. and them keeping my car another 4 weeks after i brought it home for a week.they are rude i felt scammed. and the worst service i have ever experienced i was robbed. Jay is his name and his wife who looks horrible was in charged. I suggest to not go here if you are new in town. You might get good service if you was raised in lafayette or no them but other then that it was bad. yes that bad never felt so conned in my life. you guys suck ELSTON AUTO MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE IN LAFAYETTE INDIANA

Recently I noticed some drive belt noise when driving my car, and one of my friends told me this place where he got his alternator replaced and he thought it was reasonable priced. So I drove my car here. They checked it and quote me $400+ to fix the problem. This includes removing the tensioner, and they estimate to be 1 hour labor. Definitely crazy - everyone knows this would only take less than 30min. I said I need some time to make a decision; and when I checked out 30min later, they charged me for this 30min as labor. They did not even do a thing to my car in this 30min. Crazy. Later I checked the belt myself (by spraying water - its simple and effective, just search on youtube) and found out it should just be a misalignment problem; yet they want to replace the pulley and the whole assembly which costs $200+ for the parts. Crazy. I felt I was ripped off. Fortunately that was only $70+ instead of $400+. Overall, I sincerely recommend that you do NOT service your car here. I was hoping that I finally found a trustworthy and reasonably priced auto repair business in Lafayette area; unfortunately, this one is not.

Not only are there prices very reasonable, they are knowledgeable and friendly. They explained what the problem was with my car, and what my options were.I had a few more minor problems - a tire sensor out of order and a brake light that were out - that they even fixed for free. I will definitely be back (but hopefully not too often!) :)

I am a Purdue student and have brought my Trailblazer several times to Elstons. I trust the people here just as much as I trust my auto care provider back home. I have had a lot of engine work done on my car as it has 180k on it. Each time I am given an exact breakdown of what is wrong and help me make the best decision as I am on a budget. I dont like big name auto care people and their service which is why I come here.

Took my Honda in here about 2 months ago after car stopped working on me while driving. Had it towed there, they said it was the timing chain and a $1500 repair seeing as thats how much the car was worth I decided to scrap it. They wouldnt let me get my personal belongings out of the car until after the weekend. .fine. after the weekend they proceeded to tell me I couldnt take anything out cause it would throw the weight off when they take it to the scrap yard. I got mad and called my own tow truck and had them remove my vehicle from the property. They also lied to me about very little things. Stay away from these crooks.

Took my car there to get my rotors and pads replaced on my car. It turns out that one of the calipers was seized on and the rubber was all corroded. they replaced the caliper, the hardware, and bled the brake system. They got the parts in quickly and even price matched them and had the car done the same day that I took it there. They provided great work and everyone that I talked to was very nice and personable. Overall good experience.

I had to have some work on my VW Jettas drivers side door recently. The employees at Elston were awesome and extremely helpful every step along the way. I definitely plan on getting any future repair work done there in the future.
