Really fantastic hidden gem just off Kingston Pike! Our group of 5 shared 2 delicious molcajetes (beef, chicken, shrimp, veggies, sauce - all in a giant bowl served with homemade tortillas) and it was more than we could eat! This location is also a mini-mart and butcher shop.

This place never disappoints! Tasty, fresh, filling tacos with all the fixings for less than $10.

Incredible! Simply Incredible!!! Literally the best legit authentic Mexican Cuisine I have had in the States in decades. Brilliantly delicious. Comfortable atmosphere. Polite staff. Clean environment. Everything from the fresh hot chips to the bill was the best. After the meal was complete conducted some light shopping in the market. Truly a blessing to find while traveling. Highly encourage and suggest a visit.

Was unsure where to go, but found the dining area to the left of the entrance. They didnt have any sweet tea, but I got an agua fresca, instead. It was delicious. The food was fantastic. I got a chimichanga with steak. The wait was a little long as there were no workers within eye-shot when I entered, but when I finally did speak with someone they were very friendly.Heads up, the server seemed to only speak Spanish- thankfully food is a universal language, so this was of no real consequence.

My family and I have been traveling for 9 hrs and wanted to rest here in Knoxville and we were feeling yummy Mexican Food. We were really disappointed.. we ordered an order of the chicken enchiladas and they were SO dry and barely any sauce. There was an order of 1 barbacoa taco, which consisted of 2 super dry corn tortillas and even DRIER barbacoa meat. And to top it all off, the rice had to have been old because there was over cooked dry clumps. I spent $30 on dinner that I had to throw away.The only thing that tasted right was the chicken and steak fajita meat. It was very moist and juicy. But my tortillas were extremely dry. The avocados were already gone bad in my container. I’m only giving this place 2 stars one for the excellent customer service when I picked up my food and giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were just having a rough day. But please don’t lack on the flavors and effort of making a statement to customers, especially those who are traveling through and would love to return to visit you.

Ive driven by this place for years and always though about going in. Tonight, needing some Chile de Pasilla and other ingredients, I decided to try it finally. I am so glad I finally did! Dont let the outside intimidate you. The people that work there are super helpful and so friendly in both the market and the restaurant. They even let me try some of their chicharone for free both in a dish they make there and the fresh chicharone after I told them what I was wanting to cook. Both the small bit of the chicharone dish, the fresh chicharone and the tortilla were amazingnight and day difference between packaged corn tortillas and fresh ones.Endedd up buying a pound of it and a pound of still warm tortillas. The chile and spice selection is also nice. Will be going back. Wish I had gone in sooner

Great Mexican food and spices

This place was great. Our server was phenomenal. I had the chicken fajitas and maybe several margaritas. Not sure if I remember the exact count. It is always best to go with good friends and family. Unfortunately Tennessee lost but the restaurant was one on the bright spot of the weekend.

I grew up around here, passing by El Girasol for years without stopping in. As an adult, I finally have, and its been worth it! Dont let the outside fool you; this place knows what theyre doing, both in the store and restaurant. Having lived in Southern California for two years, I can honestly say this is some of the best Mexican food Ive had outside of there. Its become a regular stop for me, all the moreso because I know my money is going to the families who run it, instead of a big corporation.

Although we found the music a bit loud (making it difficult to hear our guest at times) the Sopes were quite good, as was our sons Torta (sandwich)! Coupled with adequate service, if youre in the mood for less Tex-Mex and a more authentic selection, this should be an option for you! :)

Authentic Mexican food. The half chicken is moist and very tasty. The chicharrones tacos are a stand out. Our server was very friendly and personable. Dont be surprised if they only speak Spanish.

AMAZING tacos de chicharron. These are a must if you come here. Like you have to taste them, trust me. They are spicy and simply delicious. This is a very hole-in-the-wall type of place but it is one of the best eating establishments in Knoxville. Prices are very fair & staff is very kind. Authentic Mexican food. The store is also pretty cool & they have good candy.

Tacos are amazing with homeade tortillas good and authentic!! Gorditas were also amazing!! I chose asada (steak) and chicharron (fried pork skin) grande sope..the asada was good but the chicharron was more like super dry carnitas (the only reason i didnt give 5 stars) 💔💔 the sope itself was very hard on the outside to the point i couldnt even chew it...next time i will try the smaller sope as its probably perfect!! Horchata was delicious and perfect!! I love the fact they have a small tienda next to the resturaunt that you can get some amazing ingredients to cook your own meal at home or grab a few items before you head home!! The 2 waitresses were very quick & nice!! We will definitely be back !!!

This place was average. In every single way. The grocery with the packed aisles, and the little restaurant had average Mexican food. Even though the mesera was nice it took forever to get our meal and it was just tacos. I also bought some pan dulce, again it was average at best. Ill go back but I know what to expect. My first find in Knoxville that has authentic Mexican food. Restaurant is inside the grocery to the left side. The carnitas were flavorful and the asada tender with good flavor. They have barbacoa which was a nice find. Salsa was fresh. Tortillas were fresh. The enchiladas made with real Mexican cheese and are not smothered in grease and cheap cheese and excess sauce like the TexMex junk at most places. They also have other authentic dishes and selections I will try in the future. Prices are reasonable. Very nice food market as well if looking to buy some authentic Mexican items.
