I visited the store with my in-laws and my children. My daughter said I should write a review to say that Tom (who helped my kids choose hiking poles) is great! All the staff were friendly and helpful.

I recently purchased a new E bike from this store. Megan, in the bike shop, was fantastic! She was patient, informative and non-pushy. I really appreciated her taking the time to show me all the features and fit me to the bike. I would also like to give a big shout out to Veronica, the manager. Her enthusiasm and top-notch Customer Service is reflected in the entire staff! Proud to say that I am a very loyal customer.

We came here to get some clothes for very cold temperatures, and we had a great experience. The staff were knowledgeable and knew where everything was, and they had a good selection. The changing rooms were cleanly, and the checkout line was fast. A great place for outdoors equipment.

Absolutely adore this store and it’s staff. Parking is easy and they are dog friendly. We’ve brought our dog in to try on gear and they have been very accommodating. A couple months ago my husband purchased some gear for our car and the staff was kind enough to show him how to mount the items on our Subaru Outback with ease. The staff always go above and beyond to help you out. We will continue to not only shop here but remain REI members.

Well, well, well. It seems REI Knoxville will sell you material they KNOW is completely defective. Last week I bought 2 inflatable mattresses for $215 but didnt notice that they had printed does not hold air/deflates on the label in small print. They were right. It was a hard night. When I brought them back the manager said People like to repair things themselves. Thats why we sold them. I wonder what other defective equipment they knowingly flog off. Collapsing tents? Leaking boots? Exploding stoves? I wonder. REI=Repair Equipment Immediately

Usual REI experience. Friendly, helpful staff along with an adequate shopping inventory for a moderately sized store.

Obviously, this is the go to place for everything outdoors. If you can think of it, they have it. I just wish I had a bigger wallet for the goodies. Thats where the garage sale comes in. If youre not a member, join today! You want to be able to save a ton of money in the garage sale. Thats my 3rd trip there in 2 weeks and Ive bought stuff every time.

Loved this store! This was the wife and Is first time at an REI and we love it! The staff were amazing, helpful, and very friendly. They showed us where to find what we were looking for and helped us with sizes and the fitting rooms. We loved the store and the experience! Great product selection for hiking and excellent customer service!

I have taken my son with me to REI over a dozen times in the last year. He LOVES it there and asks to go to his favorite store on a weekly basis. I have always respectfully worn a mask and not once was my son asked to wear one. Tonight, we happily strolled in there (almost a week after the Knox County mask mandate was lifted) and were told that our son could not enter the store without a mask - even after explaining that he deals with sensory issues and has never worn a mask. Even to his pediatricians office!! The associate who told us he needed one didnt even apologize and showed no compassion. Very disappointed. Will be looking for alternative outdoor retailers.

So basically I could live in REI....no really! They have everything you need! I love everything about this place. Hiking is my passion and REI is my supplier!!!!

The Knoxville REI is such a welcoming place. The folks who work in the store are always willing to help get you outside. Ive brought in backpacks not purchased from REI and they still helped me with proper fitting.Ive taken numerous classes at the store and always learn something valuable for the trail.

THANK YOU ABBY!!!I walked into the Knoxville REI planning on buying my first Backpacking backpack thinking I knew what I wanted. Abby measured me and got me all set up in the pack I thought I wanted. After trying on the first pack it was uncomfortable and she knew it.She asked me what I wanted to use it for and asked if I’d be open to trying other packs. She set up 4-5 packs for me to try going over the pros and cons of each. I like 3 of them so she packed them with 20lbs of weight so I could get a real feel of the pack loaded! At that point I found a clear winner (Otmos 65) and I couldn’t be happier!!!!Thanks again Abby!

We’ve been lifelong REI customers. After a decade in Europe, return to USA REI was more than disappointing. The prices are not listed on specific items. Despite a posting of “50% off” during biggest sale of the year on the display (multiple displays through the store) the item was charged at full price at the register. Despite returning to the cashier twice to question it, including bringing up photos of the display, no price adjustment was offered. Very misleading - if not outright fraudulent- advertising. We will be finding an alternative for our future sporting goods purchases.

Very helpful and always courteous. The store is staffed appropriately and runs efficiently. I have made several smaller purchases there and rarely find things to be overpriced as one might expect from a large chain store. In some cases it is actually cheaper.

REI is a great place for the outdoors individual. Prices are as to be expected as they typically only sale the name brands you buy for quality and durability not price related. Sure you can get a sleeping bag for 20 at xxx-mart but dont expect it to do much more than be a sheet worth of comfort on a cold night.

Employees help without putting pressure to buy because they dont have to struggle for commissions. Very friendly environment.

I went into the store today looking for a jacket and 5 different employees helped me out. I have never in my life had such great customer service. I left the store with a smile on my face (under my mask of course).

Went in for a part for my bike. They brought me a used one. I asked for a new one but they didnt have one. So I got the used one i asked if it didnt work if I could bring it back. As I was walking out I noticed a bend in it so I went back to bring it to their attention. The worker with the long dark wavy hair told me it was part of the machining that it wasnt bent. Ok now Im OLD enough to know the difference between bent creases and the machining of a product.so I felt insulted by a worker that wasnt even helping me. The guy that help me tried everything he could to help.im rating that guy alone not the store.

This was my first in-store shopping since March 2020. It was a very positive experience! The staff and store are following COVID guidelines. The store is very neat and clean. The staff is very helpful. And I found my shoes with the first one I tried on.

Shopped for hiking boots yesterday at the Knoxville REI. Staff was extremely helpful in suggesting boots for my problem feet. We tried four different brands before targeting Merrells. Then tried on multiple sizes, in wides and regular; women’s, then men’s. Tried on at least ten different boots total, before deciding on a men’s boot for my arthritic feet! Staff remained attentive and helpful throughout the experience. So very grateful for these folks!

Brought my 4 year old and 3 year old into the store to buy new Keens. Was told that babies need masks. In the same city where you can bring maskless kids (12 and under) to jump jam, museums, daycares, etc. Even their pediatrician’s office.

Ive often wondered where chick-fil-a employees go when they retire.. Its REII have never had the customer service I have had from Tom. He answered every single one of the 10,000 questions I had about a new pack and he new alot about EVERY single item I picked up this was quiet adrive to go here for me but I wont ever hesitate to do it again. Everyone i talked to from packs, to shoes, to checkout was AMAZINGLY nice, I wish they had more stars to give.

After going around the gated shoe Dept, they refused to help/allow us to look at shoes without a mask on. There are plenty of other outdoor stores that would love our business other than REI!!

Love this store, was missing a few sizes for what I was looking for so had to get a different brand than I came there for. Besides that the staff was super helpful and found a different option for me.

If you are anti-covid. Do not go. If your mask doesnt cover your nose they will chase you down and ask you to pull it up, then follow up and offer one of their masks. If you need something order online!!!! Worse experience ever. They take wearing masks to a whole new level.

The store is overall really nice with friendly employees. However, you can find most of the stuff online for a lot cheaper. Still, if you enjoy shopping for items in person then REI has a great selection.

Overpriced branded camping equipment from Asia. Not convinced that it’s much better than Amazon knockoff stuff. Went there for the “big” Labor Day sale. No deals found and rude cashier made it tougher to swallow. Their Covid policy was over the top annoying.

REI is a great place to get unique camping supplies for that upcoming camping or hiking trip. They sell decent clothing and biking merchandise as well. I will say the price is a little high for certain items. You cant accuse them of selling products of low quality.

First time in there, Allen was supper helpful. We got fitted for backpacks and were able to ask many, many questions. He was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining everything, making sure we understood. Got our membership today and will certainly be back OFTEN!

I had my bike stolen from a campground in Oregon. Because I had previously brought it in for work at REI, I was able to get the cereal number for a police report and national bike registry alert. The staff was not only helpful during this entire process, they made me feel like I wasnt in this on my own. I would give them more stars if I could.

I love REI. Unfortunately, I have to avoid it because I love it a tad too much if you catch my drift. Was getting something for my mother for her birthday and of course I got the wrong size. They were quick to help swap for the correct size. Quality stuff for an AWESOME mom. The Bomb Mom.

I have been a member for several years and am glad I will finally have a better chance at redeeming my coupons.The real reason for this review is to commend the decision to allow their employees to enjoy Thanksgiving Day with their families and to not entice others into ignoring the real reason for the holiday. Thank you for this. It is consistent with my beliefs, the beliefs of my family and in my opinion a majority of this community.I look forward to many years of shopping with you, just not on Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter.

I just had the absolute best experience as a total newbie buying climbing shoes for the first time. Tommy was extremely attentive and helped narrow down their selection until we found the shoes for me. Ahlen was also extremely helpful as Tommy and I were looking at ATC devices. I look forward to coming back soon for their effort help in finding the rest of my gear.

Very cool place to find anything you need for outdoor sports. Super nice staff. If you need someone to help you fit a pack for hiking the staff will do everything they can to find the best pack that will fit you and help you get fitted for any occasion.

Finally went into an REI store today for my first time although Ive shopped on their website before. It was awesome! The variety of high quality gear, the environment, and the customer service were all on point. A bit pricey but on point nonetheless. Special thanks to Megan for being an awesome worker and showing/explaining all sorts of gear that my human and I were interested in even though she knew we couldnt afford it (yet). She was very knowledgeable and extremely kind. Thank you Megan for making our REI experience a great one.

Great staff and wonderful products. They really stand behind their products too. I had a pair of cycling pants to return because of broken elastic in the waistband. Not only did they exchange them for a new pair, they voluntarily refunded $$$ because they were on clearance! The membership is a great deal as well!
