Great frozen Custard! Love it! Watch a train go by, take your little one across the street to check Out the fire house. Walkable playground nearby. Walk around bustling downtown Kirkwood to window shop or burn off your dessert!

You get to see Amtrak and various Union Pacific Freight trains pass on the Union Pacific tracks.A great experience for young and not so young kids. The owner and the staff are as kindly as can be.Menu has many offerings! Great way to top off an evening in good ol downtown Kirkwood. And a great way to enjoy a midday luncheon.Better quality custard than nearby Andys Custard. Very Ted Drewes-like custard!Closes for the colder months. Open maybe 8-months through the warmer months. And i have no images for you. Try again later.

Cash only establishment. Tried chocolate shake and caramel something something. Icecreams are affordable but contain way too much sugar for our taste!! Couldnt finish any of the ice creams. Please reduce suger and increase flavour.

Great custard. Generous portions and low prices. Pleasant park setting, and kids might get to see a passing train on the adjacent tracks.

The Custard Stand has vanilla and chocolate frozen custard bases; you can order the frozen custard on its own or as a concrete with a bunch of different flavors mixed in. I ordered the kids size twist in a cup which was huge; the serving sizes seemed super generous.

The custard and concrete mix-ins are very good, and the place is very popular among those spending time in Downtown Kirkwood. In the past, I have had a few dip cones on which the chocolate did not fully freeze, which made for an unenjoyable ice cream cone. More recently, however, each dip cone that I have gotten has been great.

Third time trying this frozen custard place and first time getting a plain cup of vanilla.First it’s important to note: this is a cash only establishment - yes even during COVID.Second: Parking is not easy sometimes. The other times I’ve went we have always had to fight a little for a parking spot - street or in the lot - most of the time the street is where you will find a spot because their lot stays full on a normal day (it’s been more empty recently due to COVID I think)Third: I have been less than thrilled with the customer service here. Last season I came by and we bought ice cream for several people. I asked if we could get a cup of water as well. They said no... I asked if I could pay for it they said no.. but you can get it out of the water spigot attached to the side of the building...... no thanks. This time around I ordered a mini cup of custard for my dog along with our concretes. He is a big guy (110lbs) and his nose is bigger than the size of the mini cup. I asked if I could get a mini ice cream cup but in a larger container so he could get his nose in to eat it.. not only did she tell me no.. she wouldn’t give me a larger cup with the same amount of ice cream.. she smiled and laughed at me while she said “haha no......”. It was condescending at best and reminded me why the last time I came was over a year ago.Fourth: We can’t quite put our finger on what it is about this custard that is a little weird - it almost tastes like they cut it with the jarred marshmallow fluff you get at the store? The consistency is lighter and firmer than normal custard; usually when you take a spoonful off of a cup of custard it will create a peak of some kind or at least run a little bit and this custard remained upright and firm without filling in the spot you removed the custard from. It was almost a little weird and we didn’t really care for the taste once we tasted it plain. Although, Some people must like it because this place has been around for a long time.I appreciate them holding a small business during this difficult time, however, it’s not for me.

Old time frozen Custard shack.. a welcoming sight when it is hot and sunny... that frozen custard just goes down well.. nice little benches to sit on while you eat and watch the train go by.. And a nice shaded one under the trees.. a variety of flavours.. it is recommended if you are not on a strict calorie diet...

Best custard in my opinion. Great price, so fluffy. The chocolate is soooo good. My brothers and I used to come here after our train ride from KC to Stl, our grandpa would pick us up from Amtrak Kirkwood.

Fantastic, honey sweet vanilla custard! (The chocolate seems weirdly salty.) Strawberry cements are wonderful--especially with extra strawberries--and their chocolate-dipped cones rule. So many flavors!! The friendly owners keep a dog water dish by their water fountain and have a lot of places to sit. Always a relaxed, reasonably priced treat. Bring cash.

If you want the best frozen custard you will ever have in your life. Come to the Custard Station. I often use the nice weather as an excuse to take a walk down to the farmers market, or just go for a stroll. Then all of a sudden we’re ‘accidentally’ by the Custard Station again getting more. Can’t recommend this place enough. So. Darn. Good.

My family has been going here for as long as I can remember. The custard is very good (in my opinion the second best in STL after Ted Drewes), there are a lot of topping options, its very quick, and the cashier lady is very nice! Its also a fun place for kids as there are big areas for then to run around and the occasional train

There are many other things I would rather eat than this “custard”. Lard would be one of those things. It doesn’t even taste like custard at all. Whatever they put in there coats your mouth like some sort of paste and has made me throw up on multiple occasions. I recommend finding somewhere else (ANYWHERE else) to go get custard.

This place is one of a kind! It is a staple in Kirkwood and the best. Their portions are generous and also yummy. My girls love any of the special items on their board! The blueberry kit Kay concrete was incredible. You can share a small, because it is large. Their mini is perfect for everyone. Walk around downtown while are you enjoying some ice cream. This is such a quaint little place.

Sure, Ted Drewes is terrific, but they dont offer peanut butter as a mix in! Custard Station does!! I got peanut butter, hot fudge, marshmallow and snickers and it was pretty incredible. I wouldve liked the piece of Snickers to be a little bigger, but the over all flavor was exactly what I was looking for, so Id get the same thing again.I ordered a small and Im glad I did! It was the perfect amount having just come from dinner. My husband ordered a large and it was too much even for him.My mom is a woman of simple pleasures and therefore ordered the regular size (not kiddie size) chocolate dipped cone. She was very pleased indeed!

Lovely, lovingly, kind and civil, sweet creamery dreamery wot you can enjoy at the Custard Station.Yep, brings teh cash, as is cash only.Extemporaneously so.Update September 2019.Hugs. Yet go to the train station after 8PM most days as it is open and you can enjoy usually long freight trains on the train station benches with your Custard Station custard!Update 22 June 2018.Waaaaaay better than Andys Custard. On par with Ted Drewes. And a little less pricey.
