I brought in two new handmade knives to be straightened that were a bit bent. Epicurean sells knives from the same maker that I got them from. Epicurean has a policy that you also have to get sharpening if you want a blade straightened. About $45 later, neither knife was even attempted to be straightened, nor very sharp either. The edges were over-polished and the apex rounded over - I could easily run my fingers (lightly) down the edge of the blade without feeling any bite. I looked and saw they were still as bent as the day I brought them in, and said that I had wanted the blades straightened and they were still bent. The sharpener was called up, and he first asked me if I had said I wanted them straightened. Yes! Thats all I wanted! This was apparently not communicated to him, and I guess he didnt notice they were bent or didnt bother to try to straighten them. He then glanced at the knives and said they were as straight as they were going to get, and that the bend couldve been from impact or abuse (they were new). The thing is, the spine on one of the knives was obviously bent and able to be straightened. The other one does seem to have uneven grinding, but I am sure it can be made more straight. I resorted to watching a Carter Cutlery video on straightening knives and did indeed make the knife with the bent spine significantly more straight with a brass hammer on wood. It wouldve been nice if they attempted to do what I was paying them to do. Two stars because they couldve done a much worse job sharpening - though I didnt need or want sharpening.

Nick was awesome explaining knives to me, purchased $600 worth of goods from him. I find myself having a hard time giving a low rating to such an experienced place however the way they treat returns is really not appropriate for todays world. The packaging on an unused knife was opened, and after asking to exchange within a week to spend more for their business I am greeted with Danial which I assume is the store owner. Told me he cant take this item back, offering no means of mediation to the situation he asks why Im upset ... and says I dont understand retail.understand

I was looking for a first EDC in the $50 + or - range, so I came here. He showed me a few in that range and I bought an Artisan Cutlery model 1702PS for about $50. He told me about a few tests they performed on that particular knife and how they were impressed with its performance for its price. It is a nice knife and I am satisfied with my purchase. They have I great selection, so I definitely recommend checking them out.

Two high-quality Japanese knives were sharpened (and repaired) in approx. 24 hours with two easy options for contactless payment. All under $60. Anticipated wait time was about a week so they totally exceeded expectations. If you cook a lot and need to sharpen your knives this place makes it so easy to cross this off your to-do list without being out of commission.

I stopped at this shop just looking around for a kitchen knife to add to our wedding registry, but wound up spending almost $300 on a knife right then and there. They seemed very knowledgeable and trustworthy, so I felt very comfortable making the purchase, and have enjoyed using the knife every day since. We wound up moving back to Minnesota, and just recently sent the knife back to Kirkland to be sharpened. Great service.

Recommended but make sure to handle the piece that you are buying rather than just the display one. I bought 4 roughly $200 Damascus steel chefs knives here for Christmas gifts in 2018. The knife that they had on display felt great and the person that helped me was very helpful in finding what I was looking for and not trying to push me into a more expensive product. However, a day later I had to return all four of them. I chose a style that had western handles where the metal of the blade splits the two side blocks of the wooden handle. The materials are finished to each other very tightly and any shrinkage in the wood will expose the sharp non deburred edges of that metal. This was the case with all 4 of the knives that I bought. Its not that these edges will cut you, they are just a little uncomfortable and make the piece feel lesser quality. I took all 4 back and confirmed that I could not feel these edges on the display knife. I Asked for samples of other knives (in a similar price point) with the same style handle and they seemed to have the same issue (display knife felt good, boxed knives felt bad). They assured me that they dont prep their display knives before putting them up, but maybe the store is better temperature controlled than the storage space or something. I ended up purchasing 4 replacement knives with Japanese style handles (no exposed metal) to solve the issue. They took my return without too much trouble but did seem a bit defensive about it.

I buy a lot of items on line these days and am rarely wowed by a businesss level of customer service. These guys took my order extremely serious even though it was only a small one, they then went the extra mile to get my order sent off ASAP as well. Nice to feel that personal touch!

Knife store for people that really love knives, Basically a knife museum but you can buy all the pieces.Really great prices, especially for the high quality tools they keep in stock. The staff knows what they are talking about so listen and be humble (they probably know more than you),Nick was a great guy and happy to show me a few pieces that caught my eye and ended up selling me a sweet new flipper. Huuuuuge selection of some of my favorite knife makers from production, mid tech, to custom I could spend as much as i want in this place. These people have everything and more.KEEP YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF THE GLASS! (Your kids too)

BUYER BEWARE – SHOP AT OWN RISK. Short answer: Good products. Bad business. DO NOT order online, and do not expect the owner to admit mistakes or resolve issues when they sell you damaged products, or damage your knives during sharpening. Oh and raise an issue, and you will be blamed, and you might get banned from the store (even after a decade of loyalty). Learn here - buy elsewhere.

This place is absolutely amazing. Not only do they have a first-rate selection of knives (kitchen/custom/tactical and more), but they also provide an AMAZING sharpening service. If you have blades in need of help, dont even hesitate, get them sharpened here; its inexpensive and they come back with an edge you never knew possible. Fantastic that they are here on the Eastside.

Arguably one of the BEST Sharpening Service youll ever find! Anytime when I need a Blade Sharpened for Performance Ive taken them to Daniel & his Crew for Sharpening on my Knives. Daniel is very Knowledgeable Blade Expert to talk to when it comes to Steel and his Blade Sharpening is Best Ive ever had the Honor of utilizing in my 30 years as a Professional Martial Artist. I get my straight razors sharpened here and they do great work so if you need a straight razor sharpened this is the place to go on the eastside. They even have a nice selection of brushes, strops and razors. The staff knows enough about knives and such but as far as straight razors go they are lacking a bit, they have the general knowledge down but lack any detailed info on the products they carry so come with a smart phone to look up any details on products like grinds and such. The prices for their shave products are phenomenal, by far cheaper than anywhere online and I will continue to go here for as long as they are in business.

Was told to leave my soda outside, which is fine because its their business. However, the reason i was given was that the CO2 given off by the soda was damaging to the blades. Guess what humans exhale!?! CO2, better not breathe in there either... Also, dude that appeared in charge was condescending to other employees. All that said, great blade sharpening. But, too crazy pants to ever go back.

The whole staff at The Epicurean Edge are very friendly and helpful, Ive bought 5 knives from them (custom knives) and I highly recommend searching them out either by web search under the name bladegallery or bladeconnection or if you live within driving distance GO to their shop youll be amazed at the selection of quality knives, their friendly honest no pressure sales staff who are very knowledgeable and informative. Personally want to thank Moose for showing me a knife I noticed but didnt even consider until he had me hold it...well I bought it couldnt be happier. Daniel, the shops owner is very friendly and spent a great deal of time with me. The store is quite simply an knife lovers dream.P.S. Pay no mind to the review by Caleb Wilson, if you knew the whole story youd know why.
