Update: this place is STILL closed. Used to be so great years ago! Such a shame.
It is a little weird that you have to decide and place your order where you check in before you sit down because this place feels like a cafe that would have table service more than a coffee shop, but I understand how it probably helps with restaurant flow. The food we ordered today was flavorful, magnificently presented and delicious and the space is gorgeous. We ordered the veggie chips too because every table had them. There were many options for all types of dietary needs. And FYI the restaurant got very busy around 11:30am. Restroom was clean.
Really nice place and hands down the best sourdough you can buy.
We went for dinner after out small wedding and got spoiled rotten. Met us with champagne and congratulations. Our waitperson guided us through the menu and gluten free was a breeze. Had roast cauliflower, hummus, root chips appetizers. My meal was clams. Amazing quality and preparation, in a fun funky warm environment.
Absolutely love the atmosphere here — super high ceilings, tons of natural light, fresh cut flower bouquets, plants galore, and just a great gathering place. Both the bread used for the tartines (suuuuper crispy outside but not heavy) and the gluten-free seeded loaf are fantastic. I always get the poached eggs & herbs tartine, and add goat cheese (which is to die for—creamy and tart and the perfect base for a runny yolk).I’ve only ever had breakfast here, so would definitely love to try some of their lunch and dinner options. One negative: if you’re avoiding dairy and are opting for their cappuccinos or lattes with the house made almond milk instead, it’s not great... The consistency of it is way too watery, and it totally dilutes the flavor of the coffee. I had a cappuccino, my dad had a latte and my mom had a beet-root-latte and all 3 drinks had the same issue (though hers had the best flavor because of the added beets). I’d recommend going for an espresso/drip/cold brew if you’re trying to avoid dairy.
Very nice restaurant in the upscale neighborhood of Downtown Kirkland. About 10 minutes walk from the water. Modern trendy place with fresh, colorful appealing food and drinks. Excellent bread made in the house, great breakfast dishes, eggs, avocado toast, tomatoes toast, bowls, coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice bar, patio, usually busy and have to wait. The food needs to be ordered at the counter and the server will bring it to the table. Overall a great place to try, experience new different food and enjoy a casual pleasant atmosphere.
I love Deru Market! So when Little Brother had opened, I was eager to check it out and it is a little gem that is now on the must visit often list.To start, we got the root chips- delicious!!!! The lamb ragu for the main course - also yum! I got a non-alcoholic beverage with strawberries which was good and interesting. However, half way through it, I felt like I was eating drink instead of drinking it. Parking is easy and free ( underground garage right next to the restaurant). The service was wonderful too! I would recommend making a reservation closer to the weekend
Great food and wonderful spot for a really good breakfast meal too. And the service here is one of a kind too. I highly recommend you bring the family here too.
Fresh, seasonal ingredients from a Washington-based farm. Really interesting dishes that make your taste buds dance. They don’t take reservations for brunch, but you’ll probably get a spot within 20 minutes or so. The coffee is also really good, and the staff is super friendly!Had the salmon + broccoli + egg breakfast (this might not be available at all times since their menu is seasonal), wife had the salmon tartine. Both were delicious! The portion size is on the smaller side, so I wouldn’t come famished :)
Great place to get some high quality tartines or the heartier seeded loaf toasts. They have some creative options that can be served with soft boiled eggs and a very good prosciutto option.Service was a bit off this time around, I think they may have been understaffed this day. Otherwise its worth dropping by and trying out their food :)
Im slightly obsessed with DERU. This led to extreme excitement for Little Brother. Unfortunately, excitement turned to disappointment very quickly after my dinner there the other evening.Service: Awkward and slow. After being sat (without being given menus) we waited 5 minutes to even receive water. It was 5:30 PM and there was only one other party in the restaurant. It was very apparent that the severs/bussers are inexperienced when removing silverware, offering refills, etc. Everyone was nice, they just didnt have the expertise to make the dining experience smooth and fun.Drinks: They have a small menu and while they have all the liquors, they dont have a full bar. The cocktails we had were all pretty good. The gimlet was pretty standard, as was the dark and stormy. Nothing out of the ordinary. The strawberry smash was good, but on the too sweet for a bourbon drink side. The chefs drink was a gin a tonic with matcha. A little weird, but not bad.Food: We ordered several dishes to share between the four of us. Only after ordering were we told that two of the things we wanted were unavailable, this should have been prompted in the beginning. We ended up with the mousse, radicchio salad, spot prawns, lamb ragu, ravioli, and hangar steak. The mousse and radicchio salad were good. The mousse was pretty standard. Super tasty and the bread was great. The radicchio salad was good, the parm paired really well with the bitter leaf, but they did that thing where they leave all the leaves whole... which looks great for presentation but with a big, bitter greens, I would have preferred bit-sized pieces. The spot prawns and ravioli came out next. The spot prawns were well cooked, but the orange zest was overwhelming. The flavor of those expensive little prawns was totally muted. The puttanesca-style caper and tomato sauce was good, but all I tasted was salt and citrus. The ravioli was the most disappointing dish of the evening. the nettle pasta completely washed out the flavor of the ricotta and pea. Plus for $18 I would expect more than 3 ravioli. The butter sage sauce was underwhelming. Again, the butter didnt have that rounded flavor you want from a brown butter. I think it was literally just melted and not allowed to caramelize. The sage was there, but there was literally no sage flavor present. The final round of food was the steak and the ragu. Now, the last time I had ragu was at Spinasse, and maybe that just ruined all other pasta for me, but this ragu was some of the worst Ive ever had. They put a single sheet of the nettle pasta (again - maybe switch it up?) over a pile of braised lamb. All other components aside, the lamb was well cooked, well seasoned, but on top of all this was, literally, a full stick of melted butter. There was no ragu to speak of. A pile of meat, with a sheet of overwhelming pasta, coated in butter. Again, really disappointing pasta.I first took a small bite of just the steak - it was cooked well, to about medium/medium-well, but had literally not seen a granule of salt or pepper. It was totally under seasoned. When I took a bite of the steak with the mint, chimichurri, and greens, the components were great. Everything went really well together. So the dish wasnt a total miss.Overall, I want to see this place get better. I think it has potential, but needs some refinement of both the menu and the service. Id absolutely recommend going for a drink and an appetizer, but Id avoid the pasta at all costs. Also, Id love to just be able to order a gin and tonic and not have to put matcha in it.
Its a nice and cozy place. The food was delightful. If you get the poached eggs do have it with a slice of toast. Getting a cross section allowed the yolk to perfectly blend with the crunchy bread. The bread didnt get soggy and held onto its crunchiness. Then came the waffle, the waffle was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside making it so the combination of fruits and cream was light and refreshing.
Hits it out of the park on all fronts. Warm, friendly staff who greeted me on the way in (Im from Portland man, that throws me!), clean and modern atmosphere, and the real deal on what I came here for, the food. I got the poached egg with herbs tartine. Wood fired bread, topped with a perfect assortment of microgreens and herbs. Victrola French press ftw.
I live nearby and come once or twice a month for breakfast or dinner. Not the cheapest place but definitely worth it. In my opinion dinner has the better menu because of range and flavor, whereas breakfast is excellent if you want something light, surprisingly filling, and simple. Their coffee is dank. Not a place for people with boring palates. Superb atmosphere; simple and clean. The service is so good I feel like they are messing with you but they are just very polite and attentive. You can tell that this place was put together with intention and empathy. 6 stars out of 5
Great place with super interesting food! The service was great and the food was amazing (try the root chips!) I very much enjoyed the duck beast. The cocktails were all tasty as well. The price wasnt too bad either. It was a great place for a date night.
I’ve been to Little Brother many times and every visit has been a pleasure. Had my birthday party here in 2019, the experience and service was fantastic. You can tell there’s real effort put into making a nice atmosphere for people to be social and enjoy the wonderful menu. It’s one of my favorite spots for a nice sunny-day brunch or a relaxing evening dinner with good friends. Clean and upscale vibe, but no one would feel under-dressed in nice jeans and a t-shirt.
Gorgeous and delicious food, attractive space, and friendly staff. Our group of restaurant managers who had to have a meeting to vent about our own space loved everything about it.And, both our baker and our gluten free diner loved their bread.A wonderful addition to Kirkland.
Very friendly hosts and servers. Handmade stuff so sometimes they run out of things. My first choice of drink was out so they recommended the beet lemonade which was surprisingly good. Everything tasted very fresh - probably a new brunch place!
We had a breakfast at the restaurant.1. Visual part was amazing. The food was very beautiful and matched nice Google pictures.2. Taste and quality of food was good, but not amusing. If you like white bread in Cheesecake Factory, you can find it a bit bland here.3. Service was very bad. We werent offered a water and had to ask for it. We waited a lot for a waiter to make an order and eventually had to be more proactive to catch attention of one of them. We didnt have utensils and had to take them from another table, because of lack of waiters.Overall, if you like beautiful food and ok with not consistently good service, then it can be a good place to try.
What a great place to go eat! Atmosphere reminds me of cotogna in SF but different menu obviously. Amazing food and great service! The bread and butter were even amazing! Had to take some home too! Excited to go back!
I came here on my 21st birthday and it was the best breakfast brunch experience I’ve ever had. Exceptional service where our waitress guided my party and I the whole time (it being our first time there). They were so kind and patient. Then our food came out looking so aesthetically presentable, and tasted delicious! All of it! They even sang to me with a dessert and candle when I didn’t even ask! :) Love the homey vibes this business gives.
Had a weird experience there. Called and they said come on down but when we got there we were told they were packed though clearly we could see they were not.The hostess spoke to 3 different people, all looking up at us. Finally she came back and gave us a table. As we sat down, napkins were placed on our laps. The food was fine but we were charged extra for the additional butter we asked for to cover the original bit of bread that we received. Would not go back.
Food was great. The cocktails were delicious and strong.
Best food in town. Seriously. Hands down. We just can’t help it, and keep coming back for that amazing chicken liver mousse and chocolate cake with seasonal berries. Fantastic staff and stylish interior are just a cherry on top.
Excellent food. Super fresh! Inventive cocktails! Pork belly was outstanding. Outdoor seating provides great atmosphere, but this type of dining usually involves a more lengthy sit-down time and socializing. The chairs (steel backless stools) are not real accommodating for this. The indoor chairs are really no better - also steel, narrow, not padded, not comfortable for lengthier evening dining.
First visit but definitely wont be the last. For starters we had the Olives with orange zest, Hummus, and Crab appetizers. All were great but the warm olives were my favorite. Main courses included the Halibut, Salmon and Heirloom tomatoes and Lamb Ragu. Everything was cooked to perfection! Save room for dessert because the Double Chocolate Tea Cake and the Chocolate Mousse are both worth sharing.
Nice atmosphere and Maria, the server, was pleasant but !! The food wasn’t exciting at all. The almond milk Golden latte I had was tasteless and not a hint of sugar in it (good for others, but I’d prefer a latte, especially the one with turmeric, to be at least a bit sweet). And the gf bread with chicken liver was ... hmmm... weird. They put honey and onion on top. Well, maybe someone would argue with me, but I wasn’t impressed and even a bit disappointed. And the chocolate cake my friend ordered was way too simple for such a highly known place....
Unique and tasty menu— loved the chicken liver mousse! Staff was knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions. Great place for brunch!
This restaurant is a gem. Very comfortable setting. We had the prefix menu and every course was delicious and cooked perfectly.
We came here for brunch. The food was fresh and was really good. They have weird concept where you order your food at the counter and pay ahead of time. Its an upscale place so this concept just doesnt work that great. You are paying high prices so they should just give you full service.
Cool, hip, young. Good garage parking. A little pricey. Good for a brunch date.
Little Brother is delicious! Came here with my wife for brunch and had the salmon tartine, my wife had the breakfast bowl. Both were great and decently filling. We also had the fresh squeezed OJ. Definitely would want to try their doughnuts one day but we were in a rush and didn’t grab any.
Lovely service. Farm to table food. Perfectly seasoned. Beautiful presentations. Will be back for sure.
Absolutely amazing place with great food, very good price / quality ratio! Will be one of my favorites now!
Outstanding food, wine selection, and service at an excellent price. One of the best values around.
This place has the best coffee in the area, hands down. The bread is simply decadent and the food is delicious. I have tried the steak and it was perfect. I would come here just for the coffee it was that good.
They are awesome.... Great customer service. Clean like home... Good food
I keep going back to this place! Super good, a bit on the pricier side for lunch but well worth it. Their beet lemonade is fantastic! I dont even like beets. Try it if you go! Also, Ive gotten the salmon bread every time and highly recommend it. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The only negative that didnt really bother me much is that it is pretty loud. If youre looking for a place for a first date I will steer clear; itll just be hard to hear.
I enjoyed it but my less (food) adventurous fiance didnt. I didnt like that my latte was served in a bowl though. Can I get a coffee cup with a handle 😂
I think this is the best service Ive ever received at a restaurant. My new favorite place to eat.
Delicious pies... Toasted seeded loaf with cured wild salmon and goat cheese, poached eggs cooked just perfectly - is my favorite breakfast here... Modern interior design: quiet pastel colors, concrete floor, industrial windows, modern industrial lightening that not shooting in your eyes, open wooden shelves with glasses, fiddler fig, mandarin tree, simple white tile - all together bring clean elegance to intelligently organized open space.-love this place
Little brother is a great experience! Its hard to beat the quality of food anywhere else in Kirkland! They use he freshest ingredients in the Northwest and its very apparent their chefs put lots of love into the food they prepare! These people are passionate about what they do for sure!
Always a good option for a heat night out. You are missing out if you skip the paté and the sardines. Their old fashioned is also one of the best in town too. The staff are fun, interactive, and know when to approach the travel and when not too.
Little Brother is now my favorite spot to go in Kirkland. The space is incredible, and the staff is so attentive and welcoming. Multiple team members have gone out of their way to simply remember my name. Great food, space and staff!
Food was good, but the service was horrible. We had our two year old with us and they didnt have a booster seat or high chair. In addition, it wasnt very busy and they wouldnt allow us to push a few tables together to accommodate a party of six. If the service matched the food, I would give this place a 5 Star rating. I thought I would have an amazing experience based off of the other reviews. Unfortunately that wasnt the case.
One of our favorites now in Kirkland, we are so happy Little Brother has come to town. Highly recommend. Great service as well as food, and we love the ambience theyve created.
Great food. They are going through a kitchen upgrade at the moment so the menu is working around that, but its still well worth the visit.
Ive been to Little Brother several times since they opened. The food is SO GOOD. The menu is simple in that they list out the ingredients and what you see listed is what you get. Yes, it is pricey for brunch or lunch. However, the quality of ingredients is top notch and the consistency is stellar. The service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is also immaculate. My dad is on a low-fat diet and they were able to make suggestions to accommodate him.
Wonderful modern industrial feel to the decor of this restaurant. I had breakfast (poached eggs on toasted country bread with herbs) and coffee. Good place to meet friends or business associates. Great coffee!
Ordered beet salad with side of prosciutto and a beet tarragon lemonade. Goat cheese was awesome as well as most coponents. The beets couldve been done a little more for my liking as I needed a knife to cut them. I also wish chicken was a protein I couldve added. But overall good food, good locale, and friendly service. I will come back for more.
It’s a beautiful space. Good food options. Strange counter ordering set up and way too loud for gathering with friends.I’m sure they will figure it out, it has potential.
Great, interesting food (toasts are always good!) and super delicious espresso drinks, served in a... bowl?
Really unique for brunch. Wonderfully crunchy breads and completely eclectic presentation of inventive food.
The food was great, but the serving size was definitely too small for the price.
Funky new place in downtown Kirkland. Super “east side hip”. Pricey and the food is a bit random. I like adventurous food, but the flavor at this place just wasn’t amazing.
Not family friendly. They dont have high chairs and theyve been open long enough to know there is a demand. The fact that they dont have one feels like they are purposely discouraging parents with kids. I love the food and the ambience, but Ill take my money elsewhere. Alternatively, if you want to go somewhere with fewer kids, this would be a good choice for you.
I don’t know how are poached eggs like in but as far as I know, I’ve never had hard “poached” eggs in a restaurant, on toast. Clarified with staff which he seemed really confused with my request of soft runny poached eggs.
This place is overrated and overpriced. The food portions were small and the bread was stale and really hard to eat. The staff seemed disinterested in providing any service. $14 for a stale slice of bread with some topping on it is just a joke.
Absolutely amazing bread, food, and service! Not much else to say.The salmon tartine is my favorite, I usually add a second poached egg. They are NOT open on Sundays However. PLEASE OPEN ON SUNDAYS!
Bravo LB! I came to Little Brother to celebrate my birthday with my mom and my sister. It was a Friday. We made reservations for 5 pm in January. It was not too busy at 5, but by 6 pm most seats were taken. The service was perfection. Our server offered pillows for our backs and blankets (January = brrrr). We ordered a bottle of CabFranc and salad to start. We took our time and enjoyed a lovely atmosphere with just the right about of check-ins to keep wine and water flowing, but not intrusive. I ordered the short ribs. There was nothing left in the bowl by the time I finished. The side of bread is totally worth it If you like to seep up every bit of the Au ju sauce. We also ordered the salmon, which was good as reported by my mom. Another unexpected touch of hospitality (pillows and blankets) was the warm towels they bring after the meal We brought in slices of cake from their sister restaurant Deru, and the staff graciously plated the slices and stuck in a birthday candle which was a nice touch on the celebration of another year of life. Not only is the food delicious and the staff very kind and hospitable but the restaurant was very clean and blankets and pillows were tidy as well. I will be back! Thank you!
Food is excellent but their service is horrible. I have to think twice to go there again. When we went there it was only my friend and I who were there, and it took them a long time to serve us. When they did they brought one egg for my friend and my egg took 15 minutes to get ready (we both ordered poached egg!). If you wanted refill on your coffee forget it they dont even look at you once you paid. I hope they improve their hospitality to go with the food!
Amazing customer service and great food!
Food, service, and ambience were all stellar. The short ribs were super tender and flavorful. The Panna Cotta was surperb.
