Today I stopped by to get a book I ordered and visit with my long time friend Dr Glen Moody..This is a bookstore really a library where you can find anything you are looking for and if Dr Glen Moody does not have it, he advertises most of the time he can get it for you. I love this bookstore and you will too.Stop and see this wonderful man of God located in the Kingsport Fort Henry mall.
Went in the store with my daughter to look for a certain book. The owner was very rude and sarcastic to us . We will never go back in there.
Was able to order the Scofield Reference Bibles I wanted. Lots of stock to choose from at this location. Owner told me hes retiring in a couple of years though so you better get them while you can.
Lots and lots of books . Very nice, clean and organized .
Very knowledgeable and helpful
This store tried to sell me a book online through the Barnes and Noble Marketplace program, but never shipped it or even communicated with me. Eventually asked for a refund, still never heard anything. Since Barnes and Noble wont let me review them, Ill do it here.
Great selection of loose leaf and bag teas - a tea connoisseurs delight. Also a variety of tea widgets. The tea maker cup we purchased is a must for making loose leaf tea. Also can purchase local honey and jelly/jam products. Large selection of used paperbacks especially sci fi/ fantasy. Found a couple of classics.
Very interesting bookstore with widely varied out of print books. My wife and I visited the store on a date after eating dinner. The gentleman in charge asked if we were looking for anything in particular. I asked the gentleman if he had a particular genre and he directed us to the appropriate section. The store attendant was hovering the 10 minutes we were in the store. While stocking his shelves he knocked over 10 books when the shelf flipped. We were then told we needed to leave. My wife and I were interested in browsing on a Tuesday night to enjoy such a nice store. Guess that book sale cannot proceed.
Great place,I went in and found a great book that I cant wait to read about Tennessee. It smelled really good
The best bookstore in Kingsport. If the book is not already in stock the helpful staff can order the copy right away.
Great bookstore. Today was my first time visiting this one. He had a large variety of new and used books and at good prices. If you havent went go check this bookstore out. Its good to support our local businesses.
I love the store. The man by the tea counter was very helpful and kind. We bought some books, some natural things by the front window. And never felt like we had to rush out. The price is very good. And the tea is yummy. I got the chocolate earl gray
Great selection of books. There is a huge local section that Larger chain stores relegate to a shelf. Also local honey!
My husband was looking through some Kingsport books that featured our Grandfather. He called me to come upstairs and look at it before buying it. He was told that this wasn’t a Free library and not to look through the books. My sister and I were coming up to buy them for the family. When I learned he had been so rude we made our older kids put back the record and comic books they were buying and then didn’t buy the 6 books we were going to buy. The one star is for the sweet lady who worked there and was kind! Costumer service goes a long way. Hopefully this new year the owner can work on getting costumers rather than pushing them away. Otherwise change the name to “Don’t look at the books bookstore” and post a sign that says “Beware of Grumpy Owner”.
Went right to what I wanted looked at them gave me a good deal bought two books made my day and walked out the door happy as can be
I hardly ever give out five stars;however, I do believe that Mr. Moody and his retail concept deserve it. He is friendly, insightful and gets off his rear to assist. I would not, however, abuse this hospitality by saying that the book is some shekels (pennies or dollars) less expensive at Amazon or any other competitor. I buy an enormous amount of books per month and could easily buy everything wherever I chose. Yet, I vote with my dollar to give Mr. Moody and his store profit dollars to keep the bookstore open. I hate globalized concepts such as Amazon, etc; yet, the flesh is weak. That said, I would never go into a GREAT independent bookstore with honey and aromatherapy to state the obvious. Congrats Mr. Moody. May the flock come.
Best bookstore around. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They also had a huge selection of different teas, local honey, and essential oils.
Love this store for a lot of local books AND the assortment of Aura Cacia Essential Oils! The owner is super knowledgeable, also! Highly recommend visiting this store!
It is always great to go to the bookstore. They have so many selections. If not in stock, they order and have in usually within a week.
I love the book store, the have every book you could want to read, old ones and new ones, plus honey, cards, calendars and the guy working there is very friendly. I could spend all day there.
I love this store. If they dont have the book I need, they get it for me pronto. Great store.
I love this book store and while I dont really know the owner, I have spoke to him several times while visiting his store. Im shocked by these some of these negative reviews. My teen daughter and I have done all of the things that others said they have done and was never treated badly, felt uncomfortable or have been asked to leave. Sometimes we just look around and other times we buy books. This is a great bookstore. Dont be put off by the negative reviews. These people had to be up to no good or they have nothing better to do than write false reviews.
I like this book store. They have some out of print books and some others that you could possibly only find on Amazon. Its a local bookstore so youll have to just go in and look. I think itd make a great date night that id have with a nerdy girl that like me.
Warning - if you are under the age of 30 and have spent more than 10 minutes in the store, the owner will expect you to gush wads of money from your pockets or get the hell out. Located in the Kingsport Town Center next to Italian Village, I Look Books Bookstore and Teas gives off a welcoming vibe. The setting is quite nice; books are stacked here and there, nothing is quite too formal, and everything is laidback. For the most part, malls are meant for browsing. Sure, you might have to go to one and visit a specific store, but usually, when you are bored, malls are where you go to walk around and see if something new and exciting catches your eye. This practice in modern society is known as browsing. When one browses, they are - generally - not looking for anything in particular but in some cases there are ideas that will pop up here and there. Ive been to I Love Books Bookstore and Teas before, and its usually been a pleasant experience. But the last time I visited the store was a very uncomfortable experience. I was hanging out with a buddy of mine and we decided to go there. He was apparently looking for nothing in particular but had a few specific subjects - or genres - in mind. We had been in the store for maybe six or seven minutes. He pulled a book off the shelf. I though it looked interesting, so I pulled an additional copy off too. My friend sat down in a chair behind him that was - again, a chair - located directly behind him, obviously meant for sitting. After maybe eight seconds, the owner literally rushed over to us and loudly shouted that if we werent going to buy anything, then wed better get out of the store. We were embarrassed. I, for one, felt ashamed as if I had done something wrong. So we decided to look around for maybe a couple of minutes longer - all the while the incident in the back of our minds - and decided to leave before all Hell broke loose. This was an hour before closing by the way, so theres no professional reason as to why the owner would be rushing people out of his store. Anyways, my friend decided to return back real quick to check the details of a book he was looking at so he could purchase the thing in the near future. He was greeted at the door by the owner who apparently did not want to admit my dear friend entrance. He questioned him, almost in an interrogative style, before allowing him to go on and do his thing. Really upset the two of us. We have not been able to get over this. I can easily say that this was the worst experience Ive had in any kind of store regarding the owner. Maybe hes been doing this all his life, maybe hes a good guy deep down inside. Maybe this is true, and maybe running a business just isnt for everyone even if they think theyre the most down-to-earth bookstore owner the world has ever known. Unless you want to be ambushed by a man shouting at you to give him money, avoid this store.
Large collection of books, and lots of teas that smell wonderful.
Excellent store. Great service.
I love that they have essential oils and stuff
Seems rather messy. Employees not particularly helpful
Wide variety, helpful staff (owner), piled high and cluttered with incongruous juxtaposition of genres. A real bookstore! With tea!
