I purchased my first engine from Skip White Performance about 4 years ago and gave Skip and his crew a 5-Star rating. It was a 434 that dynod 629 hp, the torque numbers were equally impressive. This was installed in my 84 El Camino project car. I say project because what initially was going to be a daily driver just to work, my daily thrill to and from work. Well, enough is never enough when it comes to fast cars so my daily driver slowly transitioned into a dedicated drag car. Im telling you Skip knows how to build a quality engine without breaking the bank. I raced this car on the track grudge racing, and winning!The 84 El Camino, all though Texas tagged its a track car with the potential for street action. SWP 434, T-400, 4000 stall, Ford 9, spooled, anti-roll bar, serious chassis work, Rack & Pinion, tube arms, Willwood drilled rotors. It was gutted, rewired, lightened, all metal except the glass hood. Everything new. Everything done right. This car looks good, sounded good, an eye catcher that drew arrention and won many races!! I couldnt have been be happier! But...I contacted Skip personally January 2020 this year and shared with him some desires and goals I had for the car. In a nut shell I wanted faster, quicker times. Im asking Skip what should I do? Go turbo, go Procharger, big blower up top, add stages of Nitrous? After sharing everything with him he replied, Dave you need a 572. That will give you exactly what youre looking for.We weighted options and upgrades and the end result is my second SWP engine. I placed my order and it was delivered to me faster than expected. Like the first engine it was created very well. I wanted my wife and I to attend the Dyno personally but I couldnt get away from work and Covid-19 was making its debut across the USA.As always Skip videos all engine Dynos for his clients and posts on YouTube. My 572 cranked out some impressive numbers that I couldnt be happier and slightly exceeding our target which yielded 860 hp and equally impressive 753 f/lbs torque.After contacting Skip I ordered it Feb 7th and actually received the engine first week of April. Skip, Misty and the entire SWP crew, Thank you so much!!! This is the second winner youve built me!It was impossible to find tuned headers to match up to these heads. I finally gave up the search and had headers fabricated specifically for the El Camino. Used 2 1/8 to 2 3/8, tuned, equal length headers. It just took forever to get them finished up and back to me. But worth the wait. This 572 absolutely screams. Ive added Nitrous, Skip made the necessary adjustments in the build. Dont have any time slips yet. Still testing and tuning the entire set up going from SBC to BBC.5-Stars for Skip White Performance!

Purchased a 421 small block for Skip White. BIG MIKE was great and helped with suggestions for my build. Engine came in a pallet and NO ONE packs an engine like this crew. Dropped engine into my 1980 monza pro street! Engine runs strong great torque and excellent power. Drove the car 200 miles taking it easy on her and we had an issue with an exhaust valve mildly and SKIP WHITE STOOD BY THEIR WORK!! The team quickly asked for photos and sent me another cylinder head gaskets and my car was back on the road in less then two weeks!! Thank you guys for STANDING by your work!!! I will buy another engine from you guys and recommend you as often as i can!!!

Their support is awful. No one answers the phone...BUT...Their motors are flawless. When it arrived I was very impressed with just how quality and solid it looked. Once it got into my boat, oh man. Its quite a beast.Purchased a BBC 555 740hp/740torque v8.You cant beat the price or the quality.

Great parts, fast delivery, good communication, and that equals a customer for life.So far so good, I purchased Heads (nbk) 200cc sbc, for a 383 stroker build, and the power is amazing.Got a 6.0 Im doing, will be getting my heads from here.

Purchased complete engine with dyno tune. Used recommended oil and even removed dizzy to prime engine before startup. Set dizzy back in same spot it was in when I got it. Started engine and kept rpm down to 1000. I have a FiTech FI on this engine to keep fuel ratio in the correct spot. After 10 minutes run time we noticed oil leaking at the rear main. A spot the size of a half dollar on the floor. Then after stopping engine to check oil level again the engine was restarted and a few short blips of the throttle not exceeding 3000 rpm, the engine started making a very faint knocking sound. We pulled the valve covers and checked the valve train and then pulled the oil pan to check lower end. As it turns out there was a loose rod cap and cylinder 5. We stopped at that point and that is when I started calling and sending emails. It has been 3 months and still have not gotten a response of any kind from them. We pulled the engine and disassembled it to check everything and the one loose rod cap was all that was found. I never got a piston noise so those were not removed from the block. We got a new rod bearing and reinstalled all the rod caps and torqued to the fasteners recommended specs. Installed a new rear main seal and reinstalled engine. Engine runs fine and has no other issues. I guess we got lucky but still had to fix a product that should have not had the issues in the first place. I own a shop and understand human error and faulty parts all too well in my 40+ years of working on cars but my real issue is the lack of customer service from Skip White. I get short handed at times but I still take the time to answer all emails and respond to all reviews. We have an answering machine and all calls are returned in a timely manner. I am looking to buy a 496 big block and a 427 for acouple of customers and cannot soundly use this company. I will buy the parts needed and build them myself and will have only myself to blame if something goes wrong.

There was a small challenge with my build, and Skip White was quick to make it right. I purchased a 434 SBC from them. The quality of this motor (components and build) is very impressive. It started right up, has incredible power and torque, and is everything I was hoping for. I highly recommend these guys.

Ordered from them two weeks ago and STILL havent received an invoice for my buyout report. They said they would send it day 1, then dodged calls for a week, then said they would send it again, and went right back to dodging calls. Customer service is non-existent here, its nearly impossible to get through to them -they never return calls if you leave a message, and if you do get through they make promises they do not follow through on.Poor experience over all. Will not be using them ever again and will probably be forced to dispute the charge and have it reversed since they cant provide a simple invoice (required for business card purchases). And thats fine by me, plenty of professional companies out their I can source parts for my customers for in the future.

Ordered my motor via eBay, I was sold on the description and options of a 383.When I ordered the motor the wait time was 6 to 8 weeks. After waiting over a month I called, which it took them a dozen calls to get someone to pick up. Then I was being told it’s 12 weeks wait time.Had to ask on multiple occasions to get a final build sheet of the motor due to multiple options on the cam, rods, flywheel and dyno tuning I wanted good records. Well I was being told they couldn’t provide that please see the ad on eBay.After all said and done I cancelled the order. No one wants to spend $8,000 on an engine to have unreliable customer service, imagine trying to get a warranty claim if you had to it would be terrible.As far as the wait times it was understandable to wait longer to begin with, however it’s unreasonable to keep changing the date of arrival.COVID or not there’s no excuses for the poor business experience

Big Mike was extremely helpful and informative on the engine I wanted built. He took the time to go over some of the differences between builds. He even told me that if I sent in my brand new Edelbrock Pro Flo 4XT, they would install it, set it up, and dyno it. He also took money off because I wasn’t getting an intake manifold through them. On top of all the help and info came an excellent price! I would definitely get another engine built by them and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a great engine. I first bought a 505 CID 640 HP BBC stomper for a car I was building. Then I replaced the SBC in my other 69 Camaro with a quick and easy 383 492 HP rocket. Wow, nice motors!

Ive tryed for a week and a half to talk to someone to order a set of heads they in their own way showed me why i shouldnt buy from skip white performance they have no customer service at all so i will be buying from jegs or summit ive left messages and even messaged on facebook and no response

I caught Skip one Friday night after hours a couple of years ago. We spoke for about an hour about the motor I wanted for my 68 Camaro. 5 speed tremec with 410 moser rear end. he matched me up with the 2.2 383 stroker . Quoted me a price and told me to call the shop on Monday and they could take the order and start the build. I did that and once I spoke to the shop they said I must have misunderstood Skip on the price. I said thats what he said! They got Skip on the phone and he honored the price!! And I am not talking pennys either as it was a substantial misquote for what I wanted. Several years later and the motor is running great and I get complements on the sound all the time. What a great motor 550 hp dino tested 383 stroker. Smokin good deal and fantastic motor. No issues. Pulls like crazy! Well I am back for my next build checking on motors for a 40 Ford. I do recommend Skip White Performance to everyone I talk to about an engine build.

Overall, the engine is strong. Issues I had were the engine came here was oil all over the out side of the motor, I had a bit of a antifreeze leak between the head and the Intake, even after re-torqueing the manifold, and the oil pan. I have a very tight fit into a 32 Ford truck to fit a Big block, which meant tight headers and exhaust. This was explained during the order. Oil pan has the drain bolt sticking out the side which caused a lot of work to get the headers to seat properly. Engine does sound strong and I am looking forward to getting it out on the road. After finally getting the motor in and running, the rear main oil seal is leaking pretty bad. Also, the chrome starter I bought with the engine fell apart. Had to order a new one elsewhere. I am also experiencing problems with the quick fuel carburetor draining fuel from the bowl while the car sits. This is causing a flooding issue. I am having to rework many things. Too expensive to take truck apart and ship back for these repairs. Also it seems no one wants to answer the phone there.

Id much rather pay a few more bucks and have someone actually answer the phone or reply to emails about orders and issues. Sent an email probably 2 months ago about some missing hardware, never got a response. Ended up buying another set if guide plates from my machine shop.

This is a review in process. I have not done business with skip white, I have seen several bad reviews regarding their bad customer service and warranty practices. After looking for a new rotating assembly to build another, motor I found Skip White Performance. Looking at there prices for short blocks, rotating assemblies, I decided to just buy the complete motor. The reason I bought the complete motor is for the price. I couldnt buy the parts separately and build it for what they were selling the complete motor for. I live in Hawaii and shipping anything here is fricken expensive!! They worked with me with on shipping, and the crate was solid and well packed. Another reason I went with Skip White Performance is that they had lots of options and upgrades you could add to your build for a fraction of what you would pay at another retailer. After making all the changes for the new 434 sbc,in my S-10 and hearing how responsive the motor was, I was extremely happy with the purchase.

Dont go by there till you call. They have a sign out front you have to call in a order. Now thats not a big deal, but would have been nice for them to have put that on the website or there voicemail before I drove 45 minutes and still no call back.

After talking with skip white and his engine builders they have come through in such a big way to help me out with the build of a new motor. We purchased a Skip White 406 for a 67 Camaro build at the end of Feb. and had the car ready for the install on May 7th, firing it up for the first time. Along with the engine we had SWP include a CVF serpentine belt system complete with water pump, a/c compressor, alternator and power steering pump which was installed by SWP. Had a problem with the water pump leaking and called Skip White Performance (SWP) starting on 5/7/2020 along with multiple emails. To this date, 6/16/2020 we have yet to hear one word from Skip White Performance. It is understandable that during the crisis there might be some delays in returning calls and emails... but to NOT RESPOND AT ALL in over a month is totally unacceptable. I have kept a log of all contact attempts and a log of all the calls with CVF who, by the way, were very helpful in working with us on this problem. I dont care to hear excuses about how busy SWP is or was... theyve had time to respond to low scoring reviews, but not to respond to customers so low scoring reviews wouldnt be necessary. I would MUCH rather leave a great review, and if I receive help from SWP to resolve the issues Im having, Ill be glad to make mention of it in a forthcoming review. As for now, Id spend my money with someone else who has concern for customer service.

I bought a 434 back in 2019 and the customer service was terrible for me never answering my phone calls hardly call me back. Finally got the motor. Ended up having a rear main seal leek it already was installed they expect you to send it back in a crate so that they can fix it and then send it back to you after youve already installed the engine. It ended up costing me $1800 to fix the rear main seal. On top of the $8000 I paid for the engine plus the $3000 install I couldnt pull it back out again so we had it hovering in the air. Im having issues with my MSD fuel injection I called them up to get some advice on a carburetor they would not call me back this places is ridiculous I would never buy anything. From them again.

Service was great in the beginning until I asked about a warranty issue.called them 2 weeks ago about blown head gasket I was told to disassemble it and take photos.well I did and tried to see if they were received .big mike told me I would have to wait until Joey seen them and would get back with me .still not knowing if they received them .I have Called one to two times a day and no one will even answer the phone. Its been over a week now.

Had a fairly good experience when dealing with Skip performance, their website was very informative and i got to speak with the man himself. placed the order, only issue i had was a longer than expected delay for delivery.Received my new SBC Chevy race engine and all is as expected so far, havent had it on the track as yet but we will be within the next week, at this stage i would buy another engine from Skip Performance.

I ordered a rotating assembly plus a block for a SBC. Had balance verified and it was spot on as advertised. Clearances were perfect again as advertised.Needed to speak with Skip with an issue that I had. Turned out to be my fault but Skip asked all the right questions and got me turned around in the right direction.I would recommend SkipWhite Performance to anyone looking for a great product at a reasonable price.

If you want the right parts, a friendly accessible staff, and fast delivery do not buy from skip white performance. They sell a balanced assembly that is only externally balanced. The flex plate and balancer must be bolted to the crank in order to be properly balanced. all my parts were new and had no tool marks showing to be ever installed. They sent a phony balance sheet that makes no sense. If you are able to get someone on the phone(good luck) and told them this I was hung up on. I ordered close to $1500 worth of parts I was told it would be 3 weeks to receive my order. When i told them I couldnt wait 3 weeks and i wanted my money back I received most of my parts in 3 days. Still waiting on my intake manifold. Then had to pay to ship back the wrong parts they sent. Ive been doing this a long time and have ordered thousands of dollars worth of parts and work in the automotive business. Worst experience I have ever had.

Great Engines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have purchased two engines from Skip White Performance. The first one was a 383 stroker turn Key at 467 hp after dyno. It was a great engine that I seized do to a oil leak from the oil sending unit hose coming loose. I then brought a 406 turn key engine at 518 hp, and I am very pleased with it also. I had gotten confused when i called for my second engine, and I got the other guys at White Performance. After talking with them and knowing some of the information from the past, I knew I had the wrong guys and called the right guys Skip White Performance. There engines are built as stated on their web site. They are professional builders. I am well satisfied with my new 406 crate motor

After suffering through some confusion between White Machine and Skip White Performance, I read through the expert descriptions, the top quality parts, and the outstanding service info and gave Skip White the call. I was happy I did. From the first few minutes, I knew I had chosen right. After describing what I had been looking at, a 383 stroker with the full front end and all the accessories, the technician, a person named Dakota, took detailed descriptions of the car I was going to install my new engine into. He recorded the make, model, year, vehicle weight, type of transmission, type of rear differential and gear ratio, and what I intended to do with the car once built. 80% Street and 20% strip. Dakota took all that info and turned it into a package custom made for my car. Just the right cam, the right intake, the right distributor, the right carb...everything was perfectly matched. On top of that, he added the accessories and additional parts I would need to make this a true turn key engine. He briefed me on what I would need to do to prepare the engine, install it, tune it, and maintain it down to just the right oil to use.For the weeks afterwards, every time a question popped up, all I had to do was to call Skip White Performance and my questions were answered in great detail, leaving nothing to chance. I ordered a 383 SBC Stroker at over $5000.00 and 3 or 4 things were different from the contract I signed! I should have sued then but, all I wanted was to get my engine working so, I paid extra for the already paid for items (CONTRACT STATES fUEL pump PROVIDED IN THE DEAL BUT, LATER, DIDNT GET ONE AND HAD TO BUY IT ANGAIN)ran hot half the time! I went back to Whites Place and absolutely NO HELP! Told me carb was bad but, Holly said NOT but, rebuilt it anyway! Stated in writing it was perfect! Rebuitlate last year (after only 756 miles in almost 2 years) and many niggling problems showed up along with Piston Chambers! This is how it read TOP #1, 4.035 Thousands-#2, 4.036-#3 4.036 -#4, 4.036 - # 5 -4.037 -#6-4.037 -# 7-4.036 and # 8 4.037 THEN Bottom it goes #1-4.036-#2 4.036 #3 4.036-#4 4.037 #5 4.037 #6 4.36 #7 4.036 and #8 is 4..036. Space between Cyl Wall & Piston is--sreet .002-003 Thousands BEST and Racing is .003-005 Best when using 4.030 Bore on all 8ylanders?? After a large sum of money exchanged, my engine is running at its best and NO HELP, even a phone call from any Skip Whites people. Usually, they wont even answer the phone and damn sure wont call you back! I WOULDNT PISS ON SKIP[ WHITE OR HIS HALF-ASSED EMPLOYEES! YOU SEE WHITE ON HERE ADVERTISING HIS ENGINES AND WORK, RUN!!!

Terrible customer service paid for Fed ex got a wrong tracking number and no FedEx shipment when I called back they can’t look up the order because it’s a website order it needs a special person in the office to look that up. And the lady hangs up on me while I’m still asking questions about the order. I’m calling from overseas because I’m on a trip and she needs to have some respect for their customers.

Did not follow their own warranty protocols. My motors rings were gapped very tightly and I did not know it. I did install a supercharger but was running efi for fuel management and lead substitute race fuel at the time. Rings touched and broke a piston. Skip white himself all but cussed me like a dog and refused to even have the motor shipped back as the warranty states to confirm what happened. Dont use them trust me.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a business! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! No body will ever answer the phone. The big block motor that I ordered from them that I was quoted would be on my door step in 4 weeks took almost 9 and there was zero communication from them about the delay. You call over and over again and they just never answer and when they do you just get sent to voice mail then they wont answer again. Not to mention the motor I ordered didnt come with all of the stuff it was supposed to. And of course cant get anybody on the phone. SO AGAIN DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY BUISNESS. Bought the stage 2 Hyd. Roller 383 for my 1969 Camaro RS convertible.From my first call to the last for changes and additions Allen Powell treated me with respect and prompt responce.I was invited for a tour and watch my engine be dynoed. A late model short track racer from the 50s through the 80s came with me.
