So good! Hubby and I were in the mood for home cooking that we didn’t have to cook! We decided to try Steffens because we’d heard many great things about the food and the service.We are so happy that we tried it! True southern cooking ~ SO GOOD! The service was terrific and the prices are unbeatable. I had the all-day breakfast and hubby had smothered pork chops, cheese grits, mashed potatoes and veg. Everything tasted amazing! I have to give a special shout-out to the cornbread and whoever made it, because it was so moist and yummy. If we could have fit dessert into our overstuffed stomachs, we would have, as all the food is prepared in-house, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. And I bet the ice cream is delicious.Our new go-to restaurant! Thank you, Steffens, for your wonderful people and fabulous cooking!
Nice place, a little quirky, with some really good Southern style food.Seems there has been a change of cooks recently, but the basic menu is still carried put most capably. The additional items for the day are on blackboards hanging from the ceiling, a fact I was not aware of until after we ordered, but didnt matter as I was wanting breakfast.Flavors were good, food was hot, etc etc, but two things really stood out:1) the home fries... chunked potatoes fried to dark brown around the edges and perfect inside. Just enough outside crispy goodness with a soft interior. How good? My wife raved about them and shes not a home fries sort of person!2) the biscuits... I came to biscuits late in life due to having grown up out west... at least to the kind biscuits that is meant in the South when the word biscuit is used. And this may very well be the place everyone meant at first! Savory top, steaming hot, and wonderfully dense, moist, and soft inside. How good? I ate mine with nothing at all. When asked if you want a biscuit here, your answer needs to be yes!
Going from Jupiter Florida to Raleigh North Carolina for a family members 100th birthdayTrying to find a place to stop and eat in the middle of nowhere, we saw this little diner on Google and said its got nice reviews, family Southern cooked meal lets give it a try.SO GLAD we did.First thing the order was onion ring love them we also ordered a couple pieces of French toast and two chicken fried steaks with sausage gravy and over medium eggs.The food was fantastic the conversations with the folks who work in the place and customers was absolutely beautiful, we had a genuine marvelous down-home Southern perfect event!Thank You Steffens team. 😊You made our day!
Second visit. Good down home cooking at reasonable price. Had fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cream corn. A little salty but still good fried pork chop. Everything weve had is good, well be going back when we visit Kingsland again.

Just a wonderful little diner near the Florida-Georgia line. I ordered the bourbon steak tips with the eggplant casserole and collard greens as my side options. OH MY GOODNESS....I cannot compliment the eggplant casserole enough! Wish I could eat it everyday. We were a large party of ten, 6 adults, 2 kids, a toddler and an infant, that they were able to easily accommodate when we arrived which was around 11am before we headed back to Florida from camping for the week in Townsend, GA. It was full once the lunch cried started coming in. A true gem for the locals to have close by for some southern, home cooked, made to order deliciousness. Definitely recommend even if it takes you off route, even then it has very close access to interstate and fuel stops. LOVED this place and highly recommend it.
So glad we found this diner on our way to Jekyll Island. We arrived for breakfast but one of us wanted a patty melt and they had no issue making it for us. Everything was delicious and staff were friendly. Will make this a must stop when in the area! We bought one of their coffee mugs to bring home as well.
Great home-cooked southern meal from a local spot that supports their farmers by offering local ingredients when possible. Need more places like this. And some of the best fried chicken ever!
Absolute perfection! The food and the service could not have been more impressive. We had a group if five and we all shared and sampled everyone elses dishes and there was not one dish we didnt think was spectacular. And those homemade biscuits are the best weve ever had. Do yourself a favor and stop in!
The food was fantastic Nicki the waitress from New Hampshire made my first visit there a terrific experience. I cant wait to go back and try something else. All the homemade food was just like grandmas.
It took us about 4 attempts to get inside for our 1st visit as this place tends to stay busy and for a good reason! Good food and friendly service.Country fried steak and Limas were perfect! Very good burger but fries were a little soggy.We will be back to try everything!

Just stopped by this place. Found it on Yelp. The real deal of southern comfort food. Fresh and homemade, we give it a 10. All 4 of us had fried onion rings 😋2 of us had fried catfish fillets. Collard greens, Lima beans and Mac and cheese. 2 had country fried steak, Potatoe salad, green beans and mash potatoes (real potatoes). All was great.The hospitality and southern charm was also very good. We will be back.
Looking for a local place while traveling? This is a hidden gem. Route 66 diner feel. Made from scratch, good size portions, friendly service and great prices! Well worth the trip off the beaten path. Biscuits and gravy, hush puppies, and breakfast burrito were delicious. Also had to have a piece of the peanut butter pie to go but ended up eating the whole thing before we walked out the door. Lol. We will be back!

We ordered through Door Dash.The fish, and the biscuits & gravy were yummy!The rice with gravy, and chocolate cake were HORRIBLE. Inedible. Cake was dry, way too sweet. Made even worse by the fact we didnt order chocolate cake, we ordered peanut butter pies. And my husband hates coconut.The french toast was missing the gravy, and was limp and sad.The chili had cheese, even though we ordered it without.The shake was runny and tasted like milk, not ice cream.Disappointing first dining experienced. But I do know everyone is short staffed here at covid central. Still, sad I didnt at least get pie today.
Homemade turkey, stuffing and sides! Weve been going here for 17 years. Many homemade entrees/sides/desserts. And many icecream flavors!! Good sweet tea! Friendly service. Worth the drive from Yulee, would even drive further.

This was a very cute diner that is definitely a ‘mom and pop’ experience. We made a 6 mile detour on our road trip to stop by this place. To be honest, the food was good, but nothing special or unique. It may have just been because of the meals that we ordered, a chicken sandwich and a Philly steak sandwich. We didn’t get to hear about the specials or ask what the diner was known for, but did overhear the waitress telling another table that they were known for their fried chicken, hamburger, and country fried steak. We didn’t realize this until after ordering. If you swing by, it’s probably worth noting and ordering one of those entrees. In terms of the service, we felt our waitress could have been a bit more friendly and attentive. She never refilled our drinks, and we had to stop her to request for a couple of requests. She seemed almost annoyed, but given the diner is fairly small, we did hear some arguing near the bar/counter when we first walked in. Perhaps she was still annoyed or upset by that interaction, but it showed with how she acted during our dining experience.
I felt like I had been to Grandmas for dinner. Everything was delicious! The staff was great! I will definitely eat here again when I am in this area.
It was good. I wish my pork chop was a little thicker it was very thin. The collards tasted a little to sweet and in my opinion needed to be cooked a another hour or so a smoke flavor from a ham hock instead of sugar would have been more enjoyable.The Mac and cheese was good it reminded me of a Sunday or holiday dinner.. The chilli was very good! As was the bisquets.Gator bites app was worth the price . A big plate. Some items are pricey like the hot dogs but I never ordered them so it may be they are huge and are beef or something it doesnt explain why 2 hotdogs would be $9.00 maybe it was $8.00. . All in all I like the atmosphere and the service was courteous and prompt. I will go back. Im interested in the squash casserole I seen on the black board stuck in the middle of deserts. Awe yeah cant wait to get a ice-cream dessert.

I pick up orders from there all the time. Waitresses and hostesses arent very friendly unless you are a tipping customer. You just lost a tipping customer because I will never eat there again. Customer service isnt just about tips. So much for the southern hospitality.
Stopped for breakfast on way to Savannah. Super friendly, and excellent down home cooking. Fresh ingredients and not greasy. Amazing biscuits and gravy.

This is not a cracker barrel. It will have you a little second guessing when you walk in but the service was on point, the food was great and it is your quintessential small town breakfast spot!
1 small slice of turkey on the club sandwich, burger was less expensive and had more meat, was forgotten about ! And took 40 mins to get food, barley got drinks refilled, nice people though !
This is an old school country diner. If you go in knowing that, expect to have your tastebuds dance. Everything I’ve had there has been some of the best country cooking available in this area. Highly recommend if you’re looking to destroy your diet/gains for the week.

This was such a spectacular find! Our car broke down off I-95 and we had 3 hours to kill. Our mechanic (who was also amazing) brought us to Steffens to grab some lunch and we were absolutely blown away! It was packed (always a good sign) but we were seated quickly and food came out in the blink of an eye! The classic southern cuisine was delicious! We sampled everything from chicken and waffles to fried shrimp, veggie omelette and burgers! They served a plate of biscuits and cornbread that were heavenly and everything was clearly made from scratch! Our server, Nicky, was beyond courteous, very friendly and accommodating! And I nearly fell over with how reasonable our check was! While a breakdown is never pleasant, Steffens made it a great family memory!! I highly recommend, for the phenomenal food and fantastic staff!

We visited this place during a tour to the USA from India and we experienced the original American culture and ethnic food taste.It was a lovely place with fantastic service.The food tasted very good and the people were great. It was our first experience to taste alligator meat. The price was extremely reasonable considering the quantity and quality of the food. You will leave the place feeling fully satisfied. If you ever tour around on a road trip,take a break here for sure.

We love to try non-chain local places as we travel. Located near the border of Florida In Georgia, we set to trek to this highly rated restaurant in the area.As we arrived, the parking lot was full and when we walked in, it was find your own seat/table kind of restaurant.We sat on the bar, thinking we we going to get served, it was actually used as a holding stage for clean-up and no one gave us a menu. I decided to look for a table and voila, we find an uncleaned table as the previous guest just left.I was super eager to order, I saw everyones food and I was getting hangry! The server was cheery, busy and nice. Menu choices was amazing and I ordered beef ribs hubby ordered fried chicken. The ribs were good but kind of too sweet for my taste. The fried chicken was perfect.I enjoyed the continuous busyness of the restaurant and people knew each other. As we left, it continued to be packed.

This diner is awesome!!! Definitely make the stop! The food is so good you will not be disappointed, the portions are more then plenty, its impossible to leave here hungry! I ordered a vegetable omelet made with egg whites, it came out cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were spread evenly throughout. The biscuits are old school scratch biscuits and so moist you dont need to put anything on them, not that you wont be tempted to as there is Apple butter on the table just waiting for you to smother them with. The pancake was great! My husband ordered eggs, bacon, homefries and toast, all which were cooked to absolute perfection! The service was great and efficient, everyone is friendly. The whole restaurant was clean, including the restroom, the door knob was even clean. The atmosphere is neat, like an old hop sock diner.

We frequent this place. Theyre usually FANTASTIC! However, the last few times we went the food has been subpar at best. Cold sides, small portions (which isnt normal for this place), and has become expensive for the amount of food. The service though has ALWAYS been spot on! They just need to get their food game back on track and they will be 5 stars again. I still suggest this place, again the service is impeccable and go in the AM because breakfast is always good.
Home cooking at its best, you cant go wrong on any dish here. Since its made from scratch you might have to wait a bit but it is well worth it. Servers and staff are are so friendly and helpful.

Some of the best home cooked food on our entire vacation. The fried tomatoes are to die for, the sausage is wonderful, and the biscuits are just this side of heaven. You wont be disappointed.

Steffens is usually very good! We were there this morning upon request with some friends and family weve bragged about to about the quality of food and service. This morning however we arrived about 9:15 which is usually an extremely busy time for Steffens. We were seated immediately, totally great! The young lady who wiped off the table left it soapy and grossly wet, with no way to dry it. She immediately took the same wet used towel over to another table to clean it.Food quality was good, but not to their normal standards. The quality of wait service was subpar! After dropping off our meals we asked for refills on coffee (the one and only refill we were able to receive) after that, we only saw our waitresses when she dropped off our bill.Weve never had an issue here being checked on or having any drinks topped off, especially coffee.Not the same FOH crew as usual, sadly! Until today the entire crew looked out for one another, not today... on a rather slow day, with plenty of staff. Hopefully this will change, for the better.

We just completed our after Church lunch at 1:49pm on June 6th. My son is 7 and they gave him a “kids” drink. This meaning his sprite was in a styrofoam cup with a lid/straw. My son dropped his gum ball (from the .25 cent machine) on the floor. He wanted to keep it so I figured I would use his sprite to rinse it off. To my ABSOLUTE HORROR I opened the lid to his sprite to find an ENTIRE bug in his drink. He had been drinking this drink all meal and because it had a lid on he we never thought to gee I don’t know check for bugs 🐜??? The first waitress I attempted to tell completely put me off and didn’t even let me finish all she said was “let me get your waitress”. Our actual waitress although nice did absolutely nothing to solve the problem. Basically, our child drank bug water throughout his entire meal and all we got was an “I’m so sorry”. In the service industry when the company is in the wrong it’s the responsibility of the company to make it right. No manager was sought out to resolve the issue. No discount was offered. Nothing was done. We paid our entire check without question, as well as left a 20+% tip. For a small town, word of mouth is everything. Basic hygiene and cleanliness should be standard. How beyond nasty does a kitchen have to be for an entire bug to be in a drink that was freshly handmade/poured moments prior???I’ve never been more disappointed in Steffens or their lack of care regarding this issue. Whoever is in charge of “managing” this establishment needs additional training in customer service. We’ve been eating at this restaurant since the early 2000s when we were first stationed here. I would appreciate if someone from the establishment would reach out in an attempt to resolve the issue.Thanks,Unsatisfied customers

Traveling through Georgia on my way to the Smokies and stopped at Steffens for a bite to eat. Always good when a restaurant is 75% full at 3:30pm on a Saturday. My wife had a delicious salad (I know - lame). Regardless, I had some gator and it was the best gator I have had in a long time (maybe ever). My son had chicken, but tasted my gator and love it.I can recommend this place to all travelers. I did not give it 5 stars but considered it.

I have driven by this restaurant so very many times and every time it has been busy. I decided to stop for breakfast to see what all the hubbub was about. I was surely not disappointed. I ordered the Philly cheese steak omelette and it was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will go again.

Passed through and had the ham club sandwich with onion rings and a salad with Grannys Vinegarette dressing and it was the best club sandwich that I have EVER had, hands down!
Took my friend to this place since my daughters always rave about their biscuits n gravy. The helping is HUGE so technically could of just ordered 1 biscuit, were told 3 was a bit small so thats wht we ordered the 3. Big mistake. Too much to eat. Very good though. The fried green tomatoes are extremely good as well. Would def go back again
Amazing food every time I go! I’m a local and have eaten here since I was a kid with my dad I love the milkshakes and still come here to this day from time to time to eat with my dad and get milkshakes every time I come. The staff has always been amazing and the locals are very friendly! Just hate that the area has so many good restaurants so I could eat here more!

On a road trip this is the exact place we look for. No Chain restaurants for us. This is a Diner first opened in 1948. The traditional Bar and stools, and of course Booths. The food is prepared fresh, so dont be in a hurry when you stop by, just bring your appetite. The Corn bread and fresh biscuits were 5 stars themself. We had the Open Face roast beef, and the Chicken with Biscuits and sausage gravy, also 5 Stars!! Wait...... save room for the Homemade Cherry Cobbler, Omy. We also tried something I havent had since I was a Kid..... Huckleberry, Ice Cream. This is a must stop when in Kingsland, St Marys or just passing thru. Its just a short 5 minuets west of I-95

Small little country restaurant packing a huge and great variety in the menu! Loved the atmosphere. Really enjoyed the superb service and attention to detail. Food was delicious! This is a favorite of the locals with many travelling from far away to eat here. We really enjoyed having breakfast here. UPDATE: Dinner was incredible too... Lobster!!!!
