This place is super cool and eclectic. Filled with old chains, graves, the Hanging Tree and an assortment of patrons dollars and bras. Great live music as early as noon.If youre looking for craft cocktails, go elsewhere, but if you want a cheap, cold beer in a super interesting atmosphere this is your place!!

We were pleasantly surprised at the ability to shoot pool and smoke in the bar. The staff was friendly and great to chat with. The band playing at the time we stopped was great. It was a great divey bar to stop into while exploring the ins and outs of Duval Street. If we stop down in Key West we will definitely be visiting this bar again. I definitely recommend stopping by for some bar billiards and live music. Dont forget to look at all the pictures and history lining the walls. Look down and check out the tombstone as well.

Great food, prices, service, atmosphere... and PARANORMAL! We went to Captain Tonys a couple of times while we were in Key West. Once during the day, and back again later at night. The manager at the time was very informative about the paranormal activity that takes place within the bar. What a great experience at this historically haunted location. You can find out a full review of Captain Tonys on our blog site and YouTube channel.

When people say the Keys and Jimmy Buffett ate synonymous with each other they arent lying. This is where he got his start and where the song Last Mango in Paris is written about. If youre a parrot head, you have to stop here. If youre not (you should be) then you should still stop by here because the drinks are good, prices are right and its just a great atmosphere to begin with.

If theres a song where Jimmy Buffett sings about it, then you know its gonna be a great dive bar. If youre in Key West and dont stop by Capt Tonys youre doing yourself a disservice. Yeah it may be the most touristy dive bar but it doesnt matter, I was born and raised in Florida, going down to the keys and I still make it a priority to stop in here for a drink and some live music.

We got 2 drinks ( a beer and vodka drink) and our bill was $17.50. The specific bartender we dealt with was extremely rude and unprofessional. Every other place we visited on the island was upbeat and polite. I didn’t feel as though this experience was worthy of a tip due to lack of hospitality. Upon checking my bank account after the charge processed, I was still charged for a $10 tip I never left. Better watch your bank accounts and make sure they charge you what you actually leave as the total on the bill.

Great place to escape the heat in what I refer to as a Museum Bar! Check out the grave stone by the old hanging tree. Stolen from the cemetery by her husband and placed at Capn Tonys beer garden. Turns out he discovered after she was buried, that while he was out fishing for a living, she was meeting her lover at Tonys all the time! Love letters he found confirmed this, so he thought since she loved this place so much (after drinking all night), that her head stone belonged there..... true story. First bar in Florida to get an alcohol license!

Great key west bar. Dollars, pictures and business cards adorning the wall showing the history of tony and the people ahead of us. Laid back, good music and you always see someone you know! Being from California I must say I was refreshed by the pricing. I ordered three drinks and the bartender said that will be 11 dollars. I assumed that meant per drink but Ive been wrong before. If youre on a mission to have a good time in Key West, Captian Tonys Saloon should be a stop that you make. This old bar is an open-air old-timey blast. When you first walk in the door, youll notice how dark it is inside versus the bright Florida sun. After your eyes adjust, you think youre seeing things, namely all the cash lining the ceilings and walls, but I assure you, youre not. One favorite activity of the patrons is to attach $1 bills & business cards to the building. They attach them everywhere they can, even on top of other cards and other peoples money. There is another cool Tonys tradition: Feeding the fish. Above the entrance sign, there is a large fish with its mouth open. The thing to do is throw quarters at the fish with the goal being getting the $.25 piece in the mouth. Whar do you get when get it in? You get bragging rights and lots of high fives. And after all that fun, you can play some pool and enjoy the live music that they routinely have there. Dont forget to grab a tshirt on your way out so you can remember the shenanigans of Captain Tonys Saloon.

What a shame...the current manager really has failed this bar. Have seen it go from a delightful, historic landmark to a dirty, grimy place. When we were there the manager was rude and condescending to guests, shouting at people and using profanity. It was terrible. Nearly everywhere else on Duval Street was packed...only a few at Capt Tonys. Our local friends told us that theyve stopped going there and that recently the reputation has plummeted. Shameful for such a historic place.

Well what can you say Captain Tonys is the oldest bar in Key West. And with longevity... especially in a drinking town that is rich with written word and music ... It is also legendary. I did as Jimmy Buffet did many years ago, I went in to Captain Tonys to get out of the heat. The beer was cold, bartender friendly, and a beautiful lady was setting up to play music and entertain us all. The celling was papered in dollar bills and bras. There are a couple of stages, pool tables, bar stools, and some tables. It really is a must see for the Parrott Head, or a aficionado of Key West. I enjoyed my time there and Im sure you will to. Heck they are even dog friendly. The bartender poured a water for my little dog. I will stop in again.
