Went on a Sunday Morning for breakfast around 10am(wasnβt crowded), first time there. We walked in & wasnβt sure how the seating worked but we ended up just going to the bar. The two bartenders were very attentive and answered all of our questions. I ordered a Grand Mimosa ($6.59;fresh OJ π―) & my fiancΓ© ordered a crown & sprite($8.29). For the breakfast entrees I ordered the Chorizo Tacos($10.50) & he ordered the BIG plate w/ French Toast($15). I highly enjoyed my plate and so did he. Food is great and the atmosphere was very nice. Will definitely go again whenever weβre in the area! π
This was my first time here. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. Very spacious place. Food is cooked to order. I ordered the kids meal chicken tenders..for $7 it could not be beat. This plate would have been sufficient for me. I had a burger and fries..I enjoyed the entire meal and the setting. Ill definitely go back.
Jessica the bar tender was super nice. Mimosa flight was perfect! You have to wait in line and order. Go get a table and wait for them to bring it to you. Kinda different. Not kinda.. Very different. The food was Fantastic!! I got the Mediterranean chicken. It had all fresh ingredients, not from a can. My husband got the avocado bacon Benedict. He says it was delicious. Lemon cream pie was a bit dry on the ends. Why 4 stars?? 1. We had to wait in line for like 20+ mins to order and there were no directions as to what we had to do. As we were leaving, there was a kid opening the door to say βhave a nice day!β And that wasnβt necessary. Iβd rather see him walking the line, answering questions about ordering and how it all worked. Definitely will go back. Food and drink was worth the strange ordering and the wait.
Love the food and atmosphere! Great menu, I had the grilled shrimp Alfredo pasta and a side salad! Topped it off with a slice of humming bird cake! A1 food and service
The place looks really cool on the inside sort of designed like a British/Scottish pub with a bar in the middle. My wife and I went to have a Sunday brunch. It was a bit more crowded than we expected but thought it would was a good sign that the food would be good. After waiting to order and finding a place to sit, it took about 45 minutes to get our food. Meanwhile, I was trying their $15 bloody mary flight which contained four different styles. Three of them were pretty good, but one of them had whiskey/bourbon in it instead of vodka and had to be one of the worst things Ive ever tasted. Thats fine though. Maybe others enjoy that flavor. We both ordered different styles of eggs Benedict with grits, breakfast potatoes, and pancakes. We had to ask for silverware, water, and napkins as our meal came with only the plates and the waiter just left. The pancakes had a smokey flavor like maybe the cook top it was made might have had some burn residue that was picked up. The grits and potatoes were very bland and no salt, pepper, or ketchup available to help that. The eggs Benedicts had the same smokey flavor as the pancakes, but we were pretty hungry having waited so long and ate most of it. I would say for the price and experience we would not be making the 20 minute drive back to Frisco any time soon to eat here again.
Response to the reply: ahh hot chicken is literally hot (temperature). Not spicy. Thank you so much for clearing that up. I was so confused by this. I would suggest maybe calling it warmed chicken (or maybe I am the only one to encounter this confusion). I wanted clarification and I got it, so I appreciate the response! Please add blackened as an online option! Itβs the best and I prefer to order it that way in store.I absolutely love the Santa Fe salad here and have ordered it multiple times. I placed an online order and selected βsub spicy chickenβ as i assumed this was the blackened chicken option. After seeing the chicken in my salad, I kindly pointed out that I paid extra for the spicy chicken. She replied βI watched the cook make it, it is spicyβ. I am very confused by this as the chicken is very bland (even for regular chicken). Also, I did not receive the garlic bread that comes with the salad. I would like some clarification on exactly what is βspicy chickenβ. Nothing on the menu contains spicy chicken, but there is an option to blacken chicken. Obviously blackened chicken would be black and is not what I received. The salads quality does not look or taste as great as usual. Is there a new cook? Or has the menu changed?
Honestly we waited nearly an entire hour for our food to arrive. After standing in line to order, thatβs just a lot of time spent waiting rather than eating or enjoying each otherβs company. Not sure Iβm into this concept. There was plenty of staff and it wasnβt actually that crazy busy so Iβm not sure what the deal was.
This is definitely below average. The service abysmal we ordered and they forgot one meal even though you actually order at the register. This was doubly a mess when we advise the order is missing they then bring the wrong order. The pot roast was like chunks of Dinty More beef stew at best. Food is terrible.
Good experience overall. Great meal options to choose from and also nice space to connect with friends/family.
A little pricey but worth it. The staff was very friendly, offering to make us drinks multiple times if we didnt like it. There was a bit of a wait (20-30 min) but the food was great
Delicious food! They are very careful with gluten free. There was something for everyone in our group of 10 adults and kids.
Good gelato and corn. Not many vegetarian/vegan options though.
Today was my first time ever trying this restaurant. Iβve seen different locations before but I actually stopped trying to find another place to eat ironically lolβ¦ anyway I just have to give a shout-out to the wonderful bartender that serviced me and my daughters, I believe his name was Erin. He was sooo AMAZING!!!! He made me and my girls feel so welcome and provided TOP NOTCH service! The food was good as well but his service is what really sold me. Iβll be sure to come back to this specific location just for him and the food! Iβd definitely recommend this place for sure. π
We waited in line for about 25 min one cashier and 2 ladies for what ever reason didnt know what hell they were ordering, which is crazy cause yr standing in line with menu long enough to know what hell u want. While other staff just stood around, with line out door, that was not cool. Will try different locations next time. Food was amazing, daughter wasnt to happy about grits running and to milky for her taste.
Usually we get pasta dish from here and its pretty good. Today we ordered our usual chipotle chicken pasta but no garlic bread came with it even though in the description it said it. The lobster tacos which are $17 dish came with stale corn tortilla that broke apart. I couldnβt even eat it as a taco. It was sub par my expectation and totally not worth the price they charge for it. It seems like the lobster was taken straight out of a can and slapped on a taco. Very salty and chewy. It seems like their quality of food has gone down yet prices are still high. Wouldnβt recommend it.
The food was ok. The extra star is for the nice employees. Historically, weve eaten at a different location before the pandemic and it was very good. This one was just ok. Basic food with one person describing their food as bland. Mine wasnt bland but wasnt above average. Pretty much just par for the course. Comparing this with our favorite restaurants in the area, this doesnt come close. With the massive amount of restaurants in Frisco, we probably wont be back. I do think people should go and try this place to make their own decision, but weve made ours. Thanks.
The place is beautiful and the food is just one of the best served, lets get to the staff the they are super friendly.
Wow! Great place with a nice atmosphere. The salmon Benedict was amazing. They have wine and beer, a coke freestyle machine, deserts, baked goods, and gelato in addition to the full menu. Iβll Definitely come back. My only critique of the food I had is that the bottom inch or so off the asparagus should have been trimmed, they trimmed the stalks but it could have used more.
My husband and I visited from out of town and loved the charming feel of Black Walnut Cafe. The build out is gorgeous and the menu has tons of delicious options. We had a small issue with our order and the manager, Kris, went above and beyond to make it right. We could not recommend this restaurant more!
The good was delicious! I had the breakfast croissant sandwich which was delicious! The house potatoes are delicious! I would definitely love to visit again to try more menu items. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere. It was clean and the staff was nice.
I picked up a late dinner from curbside tonight and I was very disappointed. When I got home I realized they had not put the garlic bread in with my salad and I also ordered a different salad dressing than came with the salad and they didnt put it in. But besides that I guess its the portion size and quality that really got me. There were 3 little pieces of meat, tough tenderloin (found out tonight that does exist) and 3 artichoke hearts, a few candied walnuts and tomatoes. Not enough bites to go around with all the lettuce they put in the container. Chalk it up to experience. A $24 salad lesson
I was expecting a cafe with greasy eggs that closes at noon. Nope. This place is more like a European cafe with post, rustic ambience, an eclectic menu (bacon jam burger, chicken n waffles, pasta, breakfast all day. Pancakes in the a.m. only, but waffles any time. The New Orleans noodles are superb, a bit spicy. Just right! And the coffee bar seems to be good. I just got an Americano, but it was great. You decide, order and pay first and seat yourself. Very convenient with kids. They also serve wine and beer and are family-friendly. Really a good dining experience.
This is such a unique little eatery. I first found it before COVID because they were open late and I needed a place to go where I could study late. They are a coffeehouse, dessert bakery, lounge bar, and cafe all in one. It is a great place to study. Meet friends for lunch. Or stop for a quick dinner.
The delivery from this place is pretty mediocre... the salmon was dry and pretty burnt, the risotto was almost crunchy sitting I a pool of fat.The tuna poke that came with my colleaguesβ avocado toast tasted dry like its lost its freshness or was thawed from frozen portions, giving it a unpleasant smell. In all fairness these were dishes that does not translate well into delivery food, so Iβm almost hesitant to give a low rating. However an honest review is an honest review, my recommendation would be to visit the place in person for a much higher quality experience.
Avoid Sunday brunch, we waited almost 2 hours, they just let people in without considering if their kitchen can handle the volume. The thing is you paid up front, tip given ahead of time. If you donβt want to ruin your precious Sunday schedule, avoid this place.
Incredible food, love that they have Brunch until 4 on the weekends
Love trying new breakfast places! You can get bacon and eggs anywhere, its nice to go to a place that offers new and different options! You order first and then they give you a pager to notify you when your order is ready. The food was really great considering the concept if different. We ordered Migas and a Healthier Than The Rest omelette, we both enjoyed each of our options. I order GF toast with mine and it was great bread!
The food here is so unbelievably tasty, and the staff at the bar are always so warm and friendly!
The pot roast is to die for! A flavor explosion in your mouth! Staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very cozy. So happy to have discovered this place! Ill be back!
So I was invited to this location. The food was good but the service was not what I was expecting. They should advise people of how their system works so people wouldnt be so confused
My husband and I were in line for over an hour before we could even sit. After sitting for over 30 minutes we decided to leave. The place wasnβt crazy busy or anything itβs just ran poorly. There were people who got there before us still waiting on their food.
Place not busy. Waited very very long at sign for wait here for cashier. Was told to seat ourselves. When food finally arrived an hour and 20 minutes later after complaining to manager (4 orders of egg breakfast dishes) each dish was cold. Waiters either did not know what they were doing or just rude. My pancake was not delivered with my meal, came about 10 minutes or so after complaining where is my pancake? It was barely warm as if rewarmed.
Wow! Not one aspect of this restaurant experience was redeemable. Walked in, said kitchen was behind, so quoted 20 min to wait to then get in line to order. Place was half full at best. Took 30 min. Then waited another 10 min to watch 3 employees take an order for 2 ppl. We finally order, takes 25 min for food. All cold and 2 entrees wrong. What was right was nothing to write home about. At least Mgr comped food, but this place might be most inefficient run restaurant Ive seen in years.
Carmen and her staff are awesome! I had a last minute planned party for my mother in law there. Carmen made the evening perfect!
Short staff has an impact on quality of service e.g food wait times, cold food and... flies.Otherwise solid menu, good vibes and creative drink options.
Great food and drinks. Love the atmosphere!!
Queso was good but chips tasted like grease. Nice drink list. A solid choice for brunch but I didnβt really enjoy what I ordered.
Delicious food, great customer service. I dont know about prices because I was invited and first time coming.
Good service and delicious food. I recommend the Chorizo Taco Breakfast.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant. Jessica is the KINDEST person over the phone and face to face. She is efficient, happy and polite. Canβt wait to return and wouldnβt hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere friendly with fresh food.
Great place for lunch with plenty of options that run from pasta to sandwiches to salad. Leave room for some great desert options too. Friendly wait staff and a quiet and subdued atmosphere.
Walked in 1.5hr ago and still waiting for food. Not that busy, something is wrong. It is not what it used to be. Managers attention is required.
Great tacos! I need to go back for a milk shake next time.
I first went to Black Walnut a few years ago and really liked it. Stopped in while running some errands in Frisco and it was just as good as I remembered. I would probably go more often if there was one closer to where I live.
Everything we ordered was great. Definitely recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice.
The avocado benedict was delicious. The logistics are: you stay in line to order, took us about 20 minutes to reach the cashier and place our order. We sat at our table and the food arrived not long after that. There was a minor issue with one of the eggs being overcooked but Savionn and his manager went above and beyond to resolve the issue quickly. It happens! Within a couple minutes everything was sorted beautifully and we enjoyed one of the best benedicts weve had anywhere. They offer delicious fresh pressed orange juice, and the coffee, which Im always super picky about, was fantastic! Will be back very soon!
We had a great experience at Black Walnut Cafe. My wife and I decided to have a date there and the staff and manager spoiled us. The food was excellent, the facility very clean, and everyone was so nice. Prompt and friendly service. Will definitely go back! More people need to know about Black Walnut.
GREAT food and service! We showed up around 7:45 at night, this was our first time here. I ordered something that had an ingredient I am allergic to. It wasnβt listed on the menu in the ingredients section, and when it came out I asked if I could switch it and they did with no hesitation. My meal tasted great and everything was hot and fresh. They also took off the meal that I first received. Everybody was super nice and understanding. We will be back!
Had a great time at this restaurant w/my mom on my last night in Frisco....met the Chef and GM and had a very nice conversation....my cheeseburger was not cooked to my desire and right away the Chef offer to cook a second one w/no hesitation.Only thing I can say great food and awesome service along w/helpful management!!!U305God Bless....
I never ate here but i came here for a pickup order and wasnβt greeted, had to 10 minutes to even be approached.
Yall, I had to start writing this review while halfway through eating this french toast because its so fantastic, I didnt want to forget a scrumptious detail! The challah bread is soft & delicious, so no scratches on the inside of your mouth from crispy toast corners. The dish is bursting with flavor, a fantastic combination of cinnamon, caramel, & a slight hint of lemon in the cream frosting. Im not normally a fan of lemon, but this was delicious ! I ordered the Frenchie & got this featured french toast as an upgraded side. Totally worth it!
Best customer service I have had in a long time!! The girl at the register was so sweet and kind. Even the bus boy stopped by our table to say hello to us and our 1 year old son. The staff and food here are amazing!!!!
Great food and excellent customer service. I had the Croissant Club and you could tell the ingredients were as fresh as could be. Great menu with Eggs Benedict, Cuban sandwiches, Chicken and Waffles and so much more. They have the best Gelato Ive ever had. I will be back.
I loved this place. Hope to go back my next visit to Frisco.
Breakfast was not great. Bacon was undercooked and egg whites were very oily. Was viaiting from out of town and was expecting more from the atmosphere of this restaurant.
Always a great dinner here!
Consistently delicious choice for our family. Quality is there and for fast casual, surprisingly upscale without being formal.
Kind staff. Great chocolate croissant. The table & booth smelled sour. But the environment was perfectly quiet for my Microsoft Teams meeting.
We used to go to this location about once week pre covid. The food was still as delicious as we remember and the staff was very friendly. It was close to closing time when we arrived but they still did a great job of taking care of us. The soda machine was out of carbonation but they substituted very smoothly with bottled drinks.
The one in Allen TX we went for dinner and I order salmon but it wasnt cooked and we eat here a lot, so I was very disappointed plus its not as friendly. The staff have changed numberous times. I will go back just not far awhile.
Always yummy and more food than you can eat! Special place...will miss my bff. This was her favorite place to meet in Colleyville and Frisco. RIP, Pat ππͺ
50 minutes for a salad AFTER the lunch rush!!! Thanks for wasting my time. Now I donβt have time to eat it since I have to get back to workβ¦..hungry. Wonβt be back
The food is delicious, the ambience is relaxing, and the service is amazing. One of the best breakfasts I have had, definitely worth a repeat visit.
The pot roast grilled cheese is the grilled cheese of my dreams. Thank you for using real butter- everything is better with butter! πThe tomato soup with it is equally as good. I finished off my salad last and Im now also in love with your ranch dressing.π€£ I will be back.. again and again. Officially one of my fave restaurants now.
Their food is kinda salty but they have one of the best cocktails
Wonderful staff. Very nice and helpful.Partner had the pot roast grilled cheese. And I had the Cubano. Both were absolutely delicious. We tried the mac and cheese and while my partner thought it was too garlicky and I dont think there is such a thing, it tasted more like parmesan Alfredo sauce. Not really a mac and cheese in a traditional sense. Fries were hot and crispy. Not soggy at all.Would recommend taking a look at the menu to make sure their neo-American menu is something you actually want because they do change things up.
Absolutely great atmosphere, friendly and professional team, and amazing food and cocktail selection. I look forward to making this my new favorite Cafe.
Today was quite busy. We received our food but who likes to eat cold eggs bacon and potatoes. The flight of mimosas was a hit tho
This place used to be good. Not only food but service. We have waited for almost a full hour for cold food and flat drinks and when I let a member of the staff know and she wasnβt even sorry, βwe are trying our hardestβ she said didnβt even offer to help get our food or drinks. Understanding would go a long way if at least she was polite. We even ask just to put our food on the microwave instead of remaking it but I guess we are not understanding βenoughβ
I could not find a mediocre or bad restaurant yet in the DFW area. Black Walnut Cafe offers excellent options. The grilled shrimp pasta is my go to menu every time I visit Dallas.
Take out service is terrible, food ok.
Pretty overpriced for what you get... ordered online and wasnβt given food until 10 mins after the order pickup time. Other people in the restaurant were also complaining about slow timing. Food tastes good, but staff is mismanaged.
Delicious food. Nice atmosphere.
Great food and great service! I love coming here! :)
Chicken Quesadilla was very good. Great atmosphere and a great corner booth to smooch my girlfriend
