I called up Friday Afternoon around 4:45pm (15 minutes before close) asking if they have a size 235/16R60 tire. The guy on the phone said they did. I told him I would be there the next day to get it.I called back Saturday Morning around 9:15am to verify they have that tire. Unfortunately the guy on the phone said they couldn’t find a tire that size.I told him that I called yesterday and was told they did have a tire that size in which he said that they looked but couldn’t find one.Either the guy yesterday misunderstood the size I needed, they didn’t look hard enough or some how it got sold within that time frame.I’m not really happy because I really need to get my tire changed and I’ve been driving around slowly on that donut tire for the past week and it’s impeding my ability to use my car effectively and get to places.The only reason I am giving them a 2 star rating and not a 1 star is because the place offers good affordable deals.

This place is incorrectly named. We were in the area from NC and was given the name of this company and Mike Baker for potentially replacing our bum landing gear leg on our RV. I called and they said they had what I needed (thinking a PARTS store), but I had to make a quick decision since the location was an hour away from where we were, and I had just enough time to get there with about 20 minutes before closing. So I rushed off to make it in time. When I arrived, I referred to my call to the guy at the desk, and ended up speaking with Mike to ask about the part. Sarcastically and rudely he stated that he didnt have time to go out in the rain and look, but showed me the area on a screen where a flatbed trailer was located and sent me out to look. (It actually wasnt raining but just cloudy.) What I encountered was a huge SALVAGE yard, and I came back in after not seeing one RV on the entire lot. Thinking I should just leave, I went back in to the counter and he then sent one of the assistants to show me where the drop down flatbed was located, which was nowhere near what I had described when I had called. Biggest waste of time and fuel Ive ever experienced. However, the shop kitty was sweet. I wouldnt refer anyone to this PARTS store, namely because of Mikes rudeness. However, if someone needs to search a SALVAGE yard for a rare part et al, this place may be of help. I strongly suggest they rename it ACME SALVAGE as the word salvage would communicate what it actually is, rather than a false idea of an auto parts store like unto NAPA or Autozone.

The location was a bit tricky to find considering a distance off the highway, the customer service was good and no issues, locating the salvage car I was trying to find took some time . Would like to see a inventory of cars and lot rows to have better access . Otherwise I had no issues and the part I got worked ( trunk lock actuator Nissan Altima 2003 )

Been going here since i was a teenager. Recently went through them for a new motor for our 96 jeep. Had a few hiccups but overall they did a amazing job. Was a great price also. Sean was very knowledgeable and Mike is always on the front lines. He always remembers us when we see him which makes it easy when finding parts. Highly recommend.

We took our van there to fix our windshield after I destroyed it getting into an accident and they were real nice guys and really helped us out! I recommend everyone go there to get there windshields fixed!!

When they were smaller they used to be more attentive to the customers. I called about a part and was told that they had some pulled. When I arrived they went to get the part me . 10to 15 minutes later guy return without part. So I question him very polite concerning the radiator. I was told to relax and not be in such a big hurry. I asked about how much longer should I expect to wait and was told about 10 minutes... After another 30 minutes I asked another salesman and was told basically the same thing. He said when they say 20 minutes you can expect to wait 45 minutes. The owner heard our conversation and asked what was the problem. After telling him every thing that had transpired he was kind of condescending,and he said that he would just give me my old radiator back and I could go elsewhere. A word to the wise; What goes up Must come down. So be careful how you treat people on your way up cause you might see those same people on your way down.

Went in today to get some parts for my mustang (got a wing and a piece for my center console in my car) paid a very fair price for the items the owner i spoke to Mike was his name knew exactly were the cars were parked very civil man i would say and also the staff walking around were very nice and helpful but i would recommend getting out of the yard before 5 because 1 it gets very dark and 2 the staff would like to go home . but other than that its a great place to get parts for your car and they gave me a like i said fair price for the wing and console piece

Horrible experience got my car towed her over a month ago almost 2 months now and still haven’t got my car back. When I called they kept saying it would be done by a certain day just to tell me that they ordered the wrong parts. Won’t be bringing my car back here again.

To fix 1 window they told me to come drop my car off now which it’s al and they said it “may” be ready by 3pm! A 6+ hour wait for 1 window!!! It’s a quick fix. 🤦‍♀️ That means u have to drop off your vehicle and then pick it back up. Very inconvenient!!! I like to stay with my vehicle and I let him know that but he told me it’s not an option unless I wanted to wait there all day. Getting rides to and from places isn’t always the easiest and not everyone can give up their daily driving car for such a long period of time! They should at least offer appointments so that way we can bring our small repairs in and get them done and be out the door. A small repair shouldn’t require you must drop your vehicle off

Just called to inquire if they carried a particular part for my car. The man on the phone mumbled for most of the conversation as well as had an attitude with me because i was unable to answer a question he asked me because I have very little knowledge of cars. If you cant help a customer find a part they need with the year/make/model of the car provided why work at an auto parts store? Also the condescension and attitude were totally uncalled for.

Went there to get a couple interior door handles for my car. Got inside waiting in line to get to the desk. Waited for about 5 minutes then these 2 other guys walk in and the guy at the end look at them and ask them what they needed. VERY RUDE that we were waiting before these guys even got here...Then when I get to the counter with the blonde hair guy and told him what I needed. He then said I think we have some new ones in the back, hang on. I asked how much they would be, he said $10-$15 (each). He came back with none and said he could order some if I wanted.... HELLO, I was there to get some out of a car in the junk... He then told me to go out back and see if I could find some. I found what I needed (two of them).Got back inside and he asked how many I have and said 2. THE GUY wanted $20 for them! I looked at him and told him I could get NEW ones for that price! He came down to $10 quickly after.Rude service and tries to OVER charge you!

Please dont waste your time with giving this company any of your time or money.I have been leaving messages with Acme Auto Parts,Inc since August 2nd for the poor service I had the week 17th of July. The service started as we looked for a truck part. This company said they had a good one and would sell it. ($100s) It was 3 hours away. When it was picked up it should have been all good. As Acme said it was a good part. Again 3 hours away. Once back into town, truck on the lift and ready to make it happen. Remember the part was sold as a good part and ended up being worse than what was getting replaced. Now a trip back up there and service of not caring they wasted days of getting a repair done. If you extra time and money go ahead use them. But I wouldnt if I were you.

Decent scrap prices. Have only ever dealt with the owner, nice guy if you understand his sense of humor. Got a brand new front bumper for my daughters nissan versa for 175. Then had his people prep and paint to match her car for another 100. I couldnt find the same new part for less than 400 anywhere else not including the cost to match the color of her car. Will be taking my used truck that I bought there to have some rust cleaned up and painted to protect the skin.

Mixed feelings here depending on which experience I base my thinking on. Reading through other reviews I can agree with most.. I often felt talked down to when visiting or calling for a price. Snobby responses were common. However, there was also a time that I had a windshield replaced at a fair price, even when they broke 3 trying to remove them from cars in the yard. It took longer than expected but they ended up putting a brand new windshield in. Try to have patience with them.. theyre a business that tries to do right by themselves and the customer.

This place is horrible, the owner is a low life, egotistical prick who thinks his asscrack does not stink!!! The front counter sales staff are complete idiots!! Unprofessional group of people!! These are the type of people who should have been swallowed at conception!!No manners! No common sense! No business sense! No professional courtesy! Uneducated! And employed by a man that cannot do as he says and does not keep his word! Bottom line is they dont care who they screw over.

They told me to call them when I got to the place where my car needed towing, so I called at about 9 am. I waited for 3 hours and 15 minutes until I decided to cancel it. The car was at a Walmart so I spent my whole morning there. I wouldn’t have minded so much if they had just given me a time estimate, but they did not. I ended up calling another business to buy and tow my junk car.

First time I went there I bought 2 used tires and left on an 245 miles trip to Michigan. before we got to Michigan, I had to put air in one of the tires. The next morning in Michigan I had a flat tire. Took the tire to Dallys tire service to get it repaired, costing me $16.00. Yesterday I had a major blow out on one of my other tires. Do to the fact that Im on social security I cant afford new tires. so I called acme asked if they had an tire the size of mine, they did. so I asked if they had an kind of an warranty on their tires, the person on the phone laughed so hard that my wife heard him. Thanked him for his time, told him I was glad he found humor in my question. I will never go back there. I felt he was being very unprofessional.

Told them not to do the work on my car after having the run around with when it’s going to be finished a few days turned into 2 weeks and I told them I was having it towed to another shop after the fact they tried to get over on my girl friend saying they going to charge $176 for a alternator that I specifically told them I didn’t want one from them they put it on anyway and trying to charge me $350 for a job I told them not to do

My fiance and I had broken down on Christmas night when our rear passenger tire had hit something in the road a tore the tread down to the belt seeing as we live several hors away we were worries about having to find a shop open when we were able to return and get our car we called one place Acme auto parts and even though they were closing in roughly 3 mins when we arrived they took our business and fixes our tire on the spot and for cheaper than quoted they were a true life saver and genuinely nice people I truly suggest stopping here for and auto needs if you break down or live in the Kankakee area!!

I have been going to ACME for over a year now, to pick up the occasional used part, but not all of my experiences have been good. Personally, if the owner checks me out, I get reasonable, sometimes really good prices, however, if you get any of the other workers as your cashier, they are going to ask 30% higher or more for the same stuff.A fine example is one that happened not an hour ago today. I arrived, checked in and went on my merry way to the imports, being familiar with the layout. I picked the part I needed and went to check out. I saw that the owner was busy elsewhere and thats when it went down hill. This guy charged substantially more for the same part that a relative had purchased recently, which was an ECU. My relative got two ECUs and a speedometer/tach cluster out of a 99 Chevrolet Cavalier for $40 . Quite a nice deal! However, I had ONE ECU from a 92 Mazda Protege and this guy was going to charge me $50. Not a chance! I can get that ECU for $14 on a half off day at Kankakee Auto Recyclers! Plus at KAR they offer 30 day exchanges if the part is wrong/doesnt function properly. ACME doesnt offer this on ECUs.I also do not like the lack of a price list. I believe they have it this way to get away with scams like the one mentioned above. I like knowing exactly what they are going to charge me, with no fluctuations between workers.Im pretty fed up with this and am almost tempted to take all of my business elsewhere, but they have more selection that most places close to Kankakee.Take my advice, unless its something small that isnt worth much, or you want to take the chance of getting the owner as your cashier, take your business to Kankakee Auto Recyclers. Theres a $2 admission fee but their prices are good.If this was my only experience here I would have given it 1 star but Ive had great experiences as well as bad ones so Ill meet in the middle at 3.

The place is very shady and the work they do behind the scenes is just as bad. Would not recommend going there for anything unless you can pull it yourself and pay less than $20 for it.

I will be the first to admit that I am a thrifty shopper. I will hunt down the best deal for something. That being said, I went to Acme Salvage Yard looking for a few parts for my vehicles. I made sure to ask how much each part was going to cost me prior to me going out in the 10 degree weather to take the parts off myself. After asking for the price on the second part I was looking for, the owner (I know he is the owner from his picture on their website) looked at me and said in a very condescending and demeaning tone, Has anyone ever told you that you are really cheap? I was taken back at the fact that an owner of a salvage yard of all places is insulting and calling a customer cheap. It was not even like I was trying to barter with him. I was simply asking the prices. What kind of customers does he think he is going to get at at a salvage yard. There is one primary reason why his customers choose salvage yards. Because they are trying to save money instead of taking the easy route and going to a parts store or the dealership to to pay for overpriced parts.Then to add onto it, while I was there the owner quoted me a price for one of the parts that he had to look up in his system and would have to order for me. He said to call back if I would like him to order the part. So, a few days later, I called and another worker answered the phone and I told him that I had spoke to the owner a few days back and that he quoted me a price, and I would like to order the part. He took down the part number and said he would place the order and call me back in a few days when it had arrived. I waited a week and never herd back. So I call them back a different worker answered the phone. I filled him in that I spoke with the owner who quoted me a price and that I had placed and order for it with another worker a week ago and had not herd back. He put me on hold and then came back to tell me that it had not been ordered and no one had ever herd of the order (or in his words, At least not fessing up to dropping the ball) but he assured me that he was going to take care of it and it should be in within 3 days and that he would call me when it arrives. Well...I waited again another week and never herd from them, so I then called back. That last worker I spoke with answered the phone again. I reminded him of whom I was and he said something to the fact that he remembered me because I first talked to the owner, then I talked to (here he named the second guy, the one who was not fessing up earlier), and then I talked to him last time. I asked him what the status is on that part and he said, Oh, yah, everyone wants $10 more than what you were quoted for that part, plus you will have to pay the shipping. I responded by asking, So your telling me that you all will not honor the price that the owner quoted me in person? I received a simple, Yep! from the worker as if i was bothering him by talking to him on the phone. At that point, I was so fed-up with and done with this joke of a company. I said Ok, Thanks and hung up.So once again, it had not been ordered. Again, no one bothered to call me back- even to tell me that they are not ordering it because it will cost more than what was quoted. And the lastly, and possibly the worst, they did not honor the price that they acknowledged the owner quoted me.I will never go back to this place and I would also recommend anyone else that values respectable business practices to do the same.

Brought in 42.3 pounds of wire and they weighed it at 20 and mixed it in their pile to where I couldnt even get it back if I wanted too. Oh well looks like Ill be bringing my 200 pounds of copper and brass elsewhere their loss not mine
