David was a nice genuine guy! My friends and I enjoyed the time on the scooters. A great way of transportation to enjoy what Maui has to offer. Would recommend to anyone who is thinking of renting scooters to rent from David. He even drove an hour and picked us up to bring us back with the scooters one night. Hope the best for David and his company!

I navigated to the location via Uber after arriving from out of town. The staff person treated me with unusual unkindness via phone because they don’t have a brick and mortar location to visit. Ubered to an appropriate location address before they would consider taking my business.

This company is amazing! Not only are their rentals affordable, they are also extremely well maintained and ride smoothly. He delivered and picked up the mopeds for free and was always quick to respond when I had questions. I can’t say enough about my experience with this company. If you are in need of a moped look no further.

Very punctual. Scooter has safety and anti theft features. I liked the drop off and pickup part.

Great price and customer service. David was very communicative, brought the scooter near the airport and picked it up in Wailuku which was so convenient and helpful. I was able to call him when the battery seemed low & he was ready to come help me. Seems like these scooters are very efficient too as I was all around the island for 8 days and only used 3-4 gallons.

I never write reviews, but I feel that future customers of Hawaiian Scooters need to HEED THIS WARNING before they decide to rent from this place in Maui. The rental is $50/day for these scooters up front BUT BEWARE that the scooters you will be receiving are VERY CHEAP and are HIGHLY LIKELY to BREAK on you. Not only is it UNSAFE to ride, BUT YOU WILL PAY HANDSOMELY FOR THE DAMAGES. The first sign of this was when he was 2 hours late to deliver the scooters because of a repair issue from PREVIOUS customers. This is a red flag. Not only was there poor communication about the ETA but he was unresponsive. This was a sign that the scooters already have a history of breakdowns and we did not realize it.As we were riding, the welding joint of the kickstand fell off mid-ride and the metal started dragging on the street, we had to tie this back up with a shoelace in order to just make it back home. As we were trying to fix the kickstand, the other parked scooter was blown over by strong coastal winds causing scratch marks on the body. The headlights also decided not to work because of a wiring issue that the owner admitted and we were forced to ride in the DARK without any lighting. IT WAS NOT TESTED BEFOREHAND AND THIS IS DANGEROUS. As Im reporting these issues to David (the owner) in real time, he disrespected us and called us liars for no reason and only looked to protect himself in the case that I was going to sue for his faulty scooters. Not only was this unprofessional but extremely rude.David maintains that he verbally told us that it was illegal to take the Honoapiilani highway to Lahaina and that we were not allowed to go a mile over 30 MPH. This vital information is not written on any of the documents I had to sign nor is it posted anywhere on their website. It is unreasonable to assume that a visitor to the island will know which highway is off limits and which is not as google maps only labels it the HI-30 unless you know where to zoom in. The scooters can glitch and go over 30 MPH and you will already be going at illegal speeds. David threatened to file a police report with his GPS data on the scooters when none of these rules were written anywhere. He later charged $200 dollars for the damages on top of the $100 rental for two scooters totaling $300+tax. When renting these scooters, your credit card will have a hold for $750 dollars per scooter and David will have the full liberty of taking as much as he wants for the FAULTY Scooters that he decides to rent to you. This entire experience was a nightmare. PLEASE, PLEASE BEWARE.

Not really sure why they were so rude over the phone. Just wanted to get more information about the rentals, and we were told our research should have been done before calling! Kihei has multiple great rental companies, it’s worth the time to go elsewhere

David our host is a very patient and gentle person. He is very knowledgeable about the island history and all parts of the ride. The trip around the end of the island was very scenic and awesome. The scooters are newish and in great condition and when the mirror came lose, David fixed it immediately. My only suggestion would be to stop a few more times just to check if we need to break more as part of the tour was a bit longish. For the women, you’ll have the ride of your life! We would highly recommend Hawaiian Scooters and will certainly pass his name and company along to our friends and family.

So glad I came across this! I was so worried that because it was Memorial Day that all of the scooter rental places would be closed, but David came in to save the day. He was such a chill guy, explained clearly the rental terms ($7 an hour!) and the controls and features of the scooter. Even though the hours for Memorial Day were a bit shorter I definitely got my moneys worth- Id argue its safer than a car for driving parts of Route 340! If you are in the Kahului area and need a scooter definitely rent from David!
