My family and I love coming to this magical place. I first came with my mom during their Christmas showcase and it was absolutely beautiful! Recently I took my husband back as we were on the hunt for a new fountain for the front of our home. Their prices on medium sized fountains are unbeatable! (Compared to the Henri fountain we have in our backyard) The only downside is that many fountains have to be made to order and can take up to 3 weeks. We live 4 hours away. But that didn’t stop us!
Love it!Be sure to stop...They even have Christmas! The food smelt great too.Only problem is you will find something you can go home without it.
I love the atmosphere of the shop, restaurant and gardens. Just give me a bench out there and some of their citrus tea and Id be happy! Love the huge doors and ironwork. It reminds me of something from the Secret Garden.
Loved the smells of the greenery and especially the food. They have so many beautiful treasures to look at and the Bistro was amazing. The waitress was really knowledgeable in the delicious food offerings and was very attentive. Finally someone who knows how to cook good food. Thank you!!!
Excellent stop when traveling. Very nice cafe with great menu of salads, soups, entrees, sandwiches & specials. Sometimes run out of specials. Wonderful, unique, large decor items. Can find good priced items & furniture, but lots of high-end pieces that cost a pretty penny as well. Need to take your time to browse carefully & you will find something you cant live without or replicate for DIY @ home & save $. LOVE this place.
Amazing place, full of anything you can imagine for your garden or home. Dont forget the scrumptious food and wine. Be sure to visit during the holiday season. So many lovely things to make you smile.
My wife and I travel the 80 miles from Springfield to Joplin every so often to visit this place because we love the Bistro. The people are awesome and the food is great! We like to browse the décor section and have bought quite a few seasonal items over the years. However, the staff in that area is very unfriendly and make it difficult to purchase things. We bought an item last week and when my wife opened it at home, again 80 miles away, it was defective. She called the store and they showed no concern that it was inconvenient and costly for us to travel there and said we had to return it to exchange. We drove the 80 miles today and the one they had set back for us to exchange was also defective. The manager came over and was very condescending and rude and said to give us a gift card. I said absolutely not, I wanted a refund. She said it was store policy and I said I didnt care, at which she got ruder yet, and they grudgingly credited my card. I was appalled at how rude and uncaring this manager was. Apparently, they dont understand that they survive on their customers money. They wont get any more of mine!
Nice place but the staff are extremely rude and degrading to the customers. They followed us around like we were criminals and inserted themself into a private conversation. I brought a small concrete statue to the check out and was told they were only for display (maybe the staff person following us COULD have told us!) but then proceeded to ring up and wrap the display statue. They must be able to stay in business with one time out of town customers because I cant believe anyone would endure that type of treatment more than once.
Great restaurant. Awesome desserts. Unique gifts you wont find elsewhere in Joplin, for yourself or someone else. Want stone work for your garden or porch? Check here first.
I felt compelled to write a review after reading all the bad ones. I visited Sandstone this past weekend with my boyfriend because I wanted him to try the food. He ordered the reuben sandwich and said it was the best sandwich he had ever had. I ordered the chicken salad as always and loved it. The portions are big and everything Ive ever tried there is really good, so the price you pay for it is worth it. I have never had any trouble with the employees there. I only visit once or twice a year and look forward to seeing all of their Christmas stuff each year. The people that wrote the reviews about employees following them must have given them a reason to do such. On our recent visit I noticed they had blocked off the section with the bedroom displays with a notice stating that an employee would have to accompany anyone wanting to browse that area because of customers using it as a changing area for babies, things being stolen, etc. I could not believe that. There are three bathrooms in that place that I know of for customers to use and these people chose a public area with merchandise to do that on? This really isnt a place for kids anyway. I will continue to visit Sandstone to buy holiday decorations and especially to eat at the bistro. For the people who have complained about this place, maybe you should learn to act appropriately in public and at a retail establishment and you wouldnt be treated in the horrible manner that you thought you were.
I have not visited there in well over five years. The shop was as interesting as I remembered. Found a bit of statuary to bring home. The restaurant was just as delish as ever. My friends may have enjoyed it more if they could have a gluten free bread available and also more vegetarian choices. The only downside was not the grounds showed that they have not been well cared for.
Beautiful interior showrooms. The outside could use a little work as everything is a little dirty and not displayed as well as it could be. Very reasonable prices.
I went here for the first time this past weekend with several of the ladies in my family to celebrate my aunts birthday. We shopped and had lunch and LOVED it! Beautiful place! Everyone was super nice and helpful and the food was delicious! And I have to brag on your ranch dressing!! We were all saying how we wanted to spread it on everything we ate! Next time Im in town, I WILL be buying some to take home! Never tasted anything like it! Thank you for a great afternoon!
Beautiful place! So many items to see. Lots of fountains in all sizes, antique furnishings, clothing. A little pricey but also not too bad on some items. Lovely bistro for lunch too!
If you are going to see Gardens as showing on the web don’t go.Was so disappointed, the grounds look as though they have not been cleaned in years and there are no paths to walk over grown weeds. If you go for lunch and visit gift shop you are in luck.
Cool place. Lots of items for a garden-starues etc, interesting goodies for the house. Glad I stopped in.
A truly beautiful icon. So sad that flames took it away from the public. Your return is in our prayers.
This is where me and my husband got engaged. Lovely place. Lovely merchandise.
Im sorry to say this today to everyone reading this but we just drove by in this place was fully engulfed in flamesit will not be open for a while or forever so sorry to see this wonderful place go we will always remember.
I love to go to Sandstone Gardens. I am followed every time we go in. I just ignore them. Most employees are kind and very helpful. Yes,they have a large investment in inventory. Sounds like the person who dropped the overpriced votive was immature and irresponsible. But,to be followed, does make one feel like a second class citizen. Mostly, I worry when I am in the garden area alone and the male employee comes out there . No one else around, I just try and go back into the main place. He does make me feel uncomfortable. But,all in all the food is excellent when they dont run out of the items on the menu!Yes,the statues are over priced and some are cracked. They do have a area for mark downs.|Love it so much,I am taking my company tomorrow!
Stopped to shop and noticed the cafe. Service is top notch and menu selection is perfect. Food was mouth watering delicious and desert put the edge on everything.
I love visiting Sandstone Gardens and wandering around getting ideas for my home and garden. The Bistro is worth the trip from Broken Arrow by itself and it is great to get to enjoy the store as well. Friendly and helpful staff finish off the experience to make it a great day trip destination.
This is one of my favorite places to visit. Over the last few years I have brought a lot of my friends to come shop and have a wonderful lunch. My sister and I make it point to visit every time she is in town. Yesterday (Aug 6th) my sister, a friend and I came to do a little shopping and to have lunch. Now we are all in our 50s. We were all truly disappointed in the behavior of your staff. We were followed through out the whole place, which made us feel like thieves. When my sister did find a very lovely vase that she wanted to buy, she was caring the vase around trying to decide what kind of flowers and greenery she wanted. We found the flowers that looked the best but still needed to find greenery. The clerk came over and took the vase out of my sisters hands and put it on a counter back where we could not get to the vase. As we said we werent done looking at it. The clerk said we could look at it from over her on the counter. We let it go and continued to look for greenery. We found just what she was looking for and asked the clerk to bring the vase over to another counter so we try the greenery. Only to be told DONT BEND THE GREENERY. We all understood the reason for not bending the greenery. But please and a softer tone would have been a much better way to have said it. My sister did buy the vase, flowers and greenery. Over all we have a very nice lunch. I am sure we will come back in the future. But this was truly disappointing and if this behavior continues. I will have to think long and hard about coming back.
Heads up for potential visitors. I just drove by on the highway and its surrounded by fire trucks with a huge column of smoke. Might be closed for a bit.
Really enjoyed this place.....great selection....I will certainly be back!
We recently moved to Joplin and we truly enjoy Sandstone Gardens. They have unique, artful, and affordable garden stutuary. We have populated out sitting garden with a collection from Alice in Wonderland, and still love it. Not the least bit kitschy. Their garden fountains are also well designed and affordable. I personally get a little sensory overload when in their interior store, but my wife likes it very much. Similar to Nell Hills for those of you familiar with the Kansas City area. We have never had trouble with customer service, and have returned several times.
Sandstone Gardens, in my opinion, is def worth the stop. I had not been there in several years (since their original location). Its pretty to wander around in, muse & get ideas. From a very logical, realistic perspective; the food is mediocre, but its an attractive spot, the customer service is def lacking but you can still enjoy the site, the prices are comparable to any gift or lawn decor type specialty shop but if u r a bargain shopper, you can find these items @ better prices. I would go back again but I wouldnt go out of my way. And, u should call before going to ck hrs as its not easy to get to.
Wonderful place to eat and shop! Beautiful things to look at.
Pretty awesome if you enjoy awful waitresses, canned drinks, and frozen food that they heat up in a MICROWAVE. Best part? All for 12 to 15 dollars!!!! Wont go again.
The lunch was excellent. The staff members were very helpful at all times. A pleasant place to shop.
Great place to visit but burned down recently
I love Sandstone, I will not go through Missouri without stopping to shop. I live in Texas and will go out of my way to visit his fabulous store. If you deal with the public your going to have some bad days. Although the employees are not the most friendly, I have never been treated poorly. I can say that coming from Texas where we are overly friendly. I have never met the owners, but they have a beautiful place. I consider Sandstone Gardens a delightful experience and if you miss this place you have missed out.
We took out of state visitors there, six of us, and were followed by an employee everywhere we went. My daughter asked the owner why we were being followed and that it made us feel like criminals and she was told if we didnt like it we didnt have to come there! We never went back which is a shame because I love it there! Others I know have been treated badly also!
Delicious food friendly staff. Wide variety of gift items, garden vases, even a small clothing boutique. Prices good Takes a few hours. To wind your way thru
You have to try the quiche! All of the food and desserts are good.
SHOPPER BEWARE!!! I visited Sandstone this afternoon with my brother, my two sisters and our mother. We have shopped at Sandstone for years and have spent quite a lot of money there over that time. We have always noticed and even commented to each other on the lack of customer service and even rudeness of the employees. Until today weve endured it. This time though we were followed around the store by numerous employees. They answered questions that we were asking each other, stood very close and watched us as we shopped, and generally made us feel like second class citizens and thieves. Mind you I am a grown women in my 40s and was shopping with my siblings and our mother. We in no way warranted a security detail. After decided that wed had enough, we headed for the door. I decided though, to go back and ask an employee about our treatment. I calmly and quietly began to explain to an employee that we had felt as if we were being followed while we had shopped. Before I could even finish my sentence she interrupted me and said she would get the manager. She did call the manager and I guess he arrived. I can only guess that this man was the manager because when he walked up the employee said this is the lady. He did not introduce himself nor ask if he could help, he just walked up and stood in front of me. I then proceeded to explain that we had felt as if we had been followed and that made us uncomfortable. He stated that they had a large investment, I said we would like to come back and asked if this was their normal practice, he said that it was. My brother then said that it felt unwelcoming and the manager then stated, without batting an eye, Then I would respect your decision not to return. It was shocking to say the least. Needless to say, whether the manager respects our decision or not, we will not be returning! I believe that if you do decide to shop here it will only be a matter of time before you too are figuring out how to sign up for Google so that you can write your own review in hopes of saving another fellow shopper from suffering through the rudeness that is Sandstone Gardens.
This business burnt to the ground in 2019. There is no longer Sandstone Gardens in this area.
Always the best...just sayn
DO NOT STOP HERE! Staff are absolute jerks. They were very rude to my sweet momma who was so excited to stop on our road trip. Online it says the close at 5pm we arrived at 4:15 and the immediately informed us upon walking in that they closed at 4:30. As my mom walked around (she had 15 minutes) one of the ladies followed her around! Then when went to check out the cashier stated in a harsh tone if you don’t hurry up we we lock the gates on you. Just a bit much ladies. Very unneeded rudeness and an easy way to lose customers.
Sandstone Gardens has the most beautiful statuary and home decor at great prices!
It took us an hour and a half to get our food, and once we did my food was frozen solid in the middle. They took it back to warm it up, and it was still cold. By then I just wanted it to go. The food is too expensive to just be food that is just put in a warmer to unthaw. Our waitress only checked on us once the entire time and did not give refills. She also seemed to seemed frustrated that we were disappointed and said she was sorry but could not do much about it. My grandmas food was also frozen. They also were out of cool whip so most of us couldnt get our dessert, and at that point we just wanted to leave, so we skipped the dessert. This was the worst dining experience Ive ever had.
Other than feeling followed it was great. So beautiful. Room after room of beautiful things.
This place is lovely and full of beautiful merchandise! So much to choose from! The food was delicious and our server was great and knowledgeable :)
So much variety! Fun to browse. We were too late to try the Bistro food, so another visit.
Love this place....so peaceful and pretty ... Beautiful fountains and statuary....
The best place to get lost in, so serene! We had the chicken salad and tossed salad with basalmic dressing, the best!
Beautiful Atmosphere! Food was not good! They were out of Salmon, out of fruit salad, the cobbler was a frozen cobbler like you get at Walmart, and it was served cold with icecream on the side. The Coconut Cake was so dry you choked on it. We ordered hot tea, which was good, but not hot. Wont be going back anytime soon!
Amazing food! Very friendly bistro manager. The shop could work a little on being more kid friendly...but look forward to stopping here every year while traveling from Missouri to Oklahoma!
So much to see...takes almost a whole day to see it all...loved every minute of it
I love the concrete yard ornaments, but they are WAY out of my price range
Beautiful items but a bit pricey.
My family just got home from eating lunch at Sandstone Gardens. We decided to go there because some of our family was from out of town and we wanted to all go somewhere special. Two people in our party decided to order the special, which was a 2 Chicken Enchilada plate for $12.95. We also had 3 toddlers that ordered the Mac and Cheese, which were brought out about 5 minutes after the rest of the plates had been served. We all waited until the toddlers received their meal and then started eating. This was a little bit frustrating but not a huge dealWhile we were eating, we noticed that both of the 2 chicken enchilada plates that our party ordered had only 1 enchilada. We brought this to the attention of our server and she told us that they recently changed the special from 2 enchiladas to 1, but they put 2 enchiladas worth of meat inside 1 tortilla. This answer didnt seem satisfactory to us because it was simply 1 normal-sized enchilada, so we asked to speak to a manager. While we waited for the manager (about 15 minutes), we finished our meals and started to eat our dessert. Finally, the floor manager came to our table and told us exactly the same thing as the server, and emphasized that she didnt have the authority to do anything about it. So we requested to speak to her manager. She said that was fine but we would have to walk over to her desk which was in the shopping area of the attached store. So my brother and I walked over to the store manager and explained our frustration with the situation. She offered no sympathy and reiterated exactly what the floor manager had told us. The only solution that she offered was to cook us each another enchilada (keep in mind this is after everyone had eaten their meals and already had dessert..we were all ready to go and felt that we should just receive a few dollars off of our ticket because we didnt get what was advertised on their menu board). We both felt a little insulted that this was her response. She said that is the only thing she was authorized to do. So we requested to speak to her boss. She called in the owner (I believe) to speak with us (By this time, my brother and I were getting pretty frustrated with the whole situation and couldnt believe that 2 managers didnt have the ability to take care of a customer). The owner came out and again offered no sympathy for the situation (which was all due to the false advertisement on their menu). The owner offered no solution to the situation. This really angered us. I have personally worked in the customer service and food industry and have never encountered something like this. She became very defensive and proceeded to say, what do you want me to do about it? At this point, I said I would like to receive 1/2 off the enchilada plate because I only received 1 enchilada instead of the advertised 2. She said, fine. As we were walking over to the register to pay, I said to the owner that I couldnt believe that this is how she would treat a customer. She replied, Do you have any more insults? I said, Ya know, this is the first time I have been here, and it will definitely be the last. She replied, thats fine. As the waitress ran my card, the owner circled back around and asked me if I was from the area. I said I did indeed live nearby. I could tell at this time that she may have finally realized how stupid and mishandled this whole situation had become. I signed my receipt and we left.
Love sandstone! The employees are always friendly and right there for you if you need help
Wife and I visited and was greeted with great customer service by Pam.
Sandstone burned right before Thanksgiving. Hoping to reopen retail store soon!
Bistro was lovely. Shopping area had extremely rude staff and owner with no customer service skills.
Great place to shop for garden and home decor and nice restaurant but not open on Sunday.
Absolutely the most fantastic place for home and garden!!! Beautiful, unique and great prices!
We love visiting! Super sweet staff and always willing to help!
A treasure to find (with GPS) near Joplin Missouri. Huge selection of both formal and informal decor items for home and Garden.
Wow! A lot to look at.. Recommend as a stop while visiting Joplin
Neat little place. Definitely not a place to pass by.
Yummy, and fast when I asked what would be quick. Friendly service!!
Food is a bit pricey for my budget but good. Neat place to shop afterwards.
Very elegant, yet reasonably priced. Beautiful items for sale
Neat restaurant to take Mom to.
Large selection of quality concrete statues at a fair price
Wow so many unique things
The food was great but the carrot cake was to die for!
A lot of selections, but all are upscale. Was not in our budget.
Amazing food and awesome gift shop
Lovely luncheon spot, phenomenal garden pieces and home decor!!!
Great service! Delicious meal!
Sorry this place is no more. This place catching fire today at 3 am (11. 24.19 )
It a cute little shop for picking out that original piece
I was there with a few other people and we came up to this section with a bunch of pie plates that my grandma was interested in and was looking around at all the different sizes and styles and was comparing two kinds. And the lady who had set up the display for the pie plates saw that she was looking at them and picking some up and putting them back (keep in mind not messing anything up) trying to figure out which one she liked best. While she was doing that my mom caught a glance at one of the workers (small with red hair) do a motion to another worker that symbolized that she wanted to strangle us for looking at the plates. Like who does that. While we were still looking at all of pie plates the lady with red hair came along and said do you need help with with anything in a disrespectful way and we said no we are good thank you. And she said well just pick one and move along they are all the same meaning like get out of this section. She just wasnt a great employee. But dont get me wrong every other employee there was great and very helpful.
Beautiful store. Love the decor!
Interesting place. Lots of different things. Pricy.
Neat place to walk through with a vast inventory. Little pricey.

Hidden gem! Martha Stewart meets Cracker Barrel.

Nothing too exciting, unless you have tons of money to spend on cheap looking concrete sculptures that will just sit in your yard.
A nother place to hang out
