ShopRite Of Metro Plaza is probably the only supermarket in or near downtown Jersey City. This is a 7-10 mins walk from the Grove Street path station and about 12-15 mins walk from the Newport path station. You get everything from biscuits to meat to fruits to Vegetables here. They have a wide variety of spread and the vegetables and fruits are always fresh. It has a bakery where they bake fresh muffins and different breads. It also have a section for fresh meat and this sometimes had a pretty long waiting especially on Sundays. The liquor store is the life saves and the prices here are comparable to Super Buy Rite and had a lot of spot offers which is great. Overall we can get everything here for our day to day needs.

ShopRite of Metro Plaza is downtown Jersey City’s only major supermarket and meets that responsibility handily. This grocer’s strong suit is it’s excellent value and great selection. It’s shortcomings are long cashier and deli lines during peak hours.Located only minutes from the Grove St PATH station and downtown area, and with plenty of (free) parking, you won’t have a hard time getting to or from this spot.The store can get quite busy but if you can avoid Sunday afternoons, or the few days leading up to a holiday weekend, then you‘ll meet little resistance. They’ve recently added self-checkout lanes to address cashier congestion, and it’s done a good job. Expect to occasionally encounter above average waits at the deli or seafood counter.The store offers a wide selection of pretty much everything, as you’d expect from a major supermarket. They also have a generously sized liquor store, as well as a whole food/healthy food aisle.Overall I highly recommend this grocery store as it’s the only truly affordable option in downtown Jersey City. While boutique spots like Sprove (a few blocks down the street) routinely mark up items as much as 100%, ShopRite is almost always fairly priced. Just be prepared to wait a bit longer in return.

I feel like every time I walk in it’s always chaotic. They do have a good variety of food, such a halal meats and some ethnic foods. Their workers are either incredibly helpful or they tell you they don’t know because they are new and walk away. There are also police officers at night time which I had never seen in a supermarket before. Different experience but I get what I need.

I bought from them online however they didnt deliver some of the items, charging everything on my credit card and want neither to refund nor to deliver!!!!! I called them several times, and they only made fun of me! Please can someone advise what I should do in this case? The amount is low, but it is not right!

The cashier treats people badly for reasons of race. He got angry without any reasons. I just asked about the price of the product. He had to explain, but the result shook his head in anger and treated me in a manner as if he was going to pay me for my purchases. Its just the staff having fun, eating snacks and gum, and they dont care

If you come after work, youd better be prepared to swipe all your own groceries.By itself, that wouldnt be so bad but the shoplifting detection AI is the worst technology Ive ever seen, and every 3 items you will have to wait two minutes for an employee to let you continue. Just awful

Good prices, diverse and well stocked selection and friendly staff. Each week they feature a few local produce items which have been fresh, tasty and fairly priced.

This a great place to shop for veggies, fruits and all other grocery items. The prices are also great. The only issue I faced was that the overall store is not very organized and it gets difficult to find the items you need. Also the surroundings of the store is not very great and kept clean.

I go to this Shop Rite regularly and its normally a 5-star experience, but I had to rate just now because Loni (I think? It was a man) gave exceptionally poor service over the phone.I had to call four times to fix a simple error in my Shop From Home order. Every time, Loni would put me on hold briefly and then drop my call. The third time I called, he actually hung up as soon as I said, Shop From Home please. The fourth time I called, I faked a more attractive voice, and was successfully transferred. Please explain. This place is terrible. the bathroom is a dirty. The staff has no cutesy. The deli staff is overall the WORSE. They spend 1/2 of their time talking about their life with their co-workers instead of doing their job while customers wait 20-30 minutes to get 5 slices of ham. What a joke

As the main grocery store in JC, this location has a good selection of food and produce. However, it’s difficult to find shopping carts, lines are long and mainly self checkout, and the customer service is unfriendly (had to wait 15 mins for a free shoprite card and also had to show ID). The card is usually passed out at checkout lines for grocers like Kroger.As a monopoly, they have little incentive to provide better customer service.

Samples are back! Yes, a return to some type of new normal. It was a pleasure to just walk in the store and feel the energy and excitement of the return of something free, even though it was ice cream. 🤗 This store also had self check out and COVID safety protocols are still in effect.

I go there every morning to get my cup of coffee & my bagels & my Boston cream donut.... ShopRite has the best fresh baked everything bagels & the best donuts in jersey city...no one can say anything about them until u tried them and u can see for yourself...love it...

I rarely go to this shoprite and theres reasons. First, I dont want anyone to think its the staff as Ive never had any issues with the employees here. My issues tend to be the selection they have on various products. I understand that there are supply chain issues now, but the shoprite in Hoboken doesnt seem to have these issues. As well why are all the shopping carts a disaster and its a problem trying to find a good one.

Worst home delivery experience ever.. terrible service.. ordered a second time after a few months, hoping things got better.. nope, they still find a way to mess it up. calling store to find out about your order is futile.. ugh..

This is for CDL drivers making delivery to this place. Its easy place to make delivery. Roads are wide enough to maneuver. Also docks are easy to back in if those small delivery trucks are not there.

The lines are always long. But the deals are always great.

Shoprite offer the lowest prices, also special discounts every week.Meat, bread, drinks etc are fresh.The location is also excellent and most of all the employers shows great customer service training.

My mother and I find Shoprite to be one of the most incredible supermarket in town. They have everything you possibly need. Prices are great and location for my mother is a plus.

The prices are low vs the rest the of the area and the store is usually well-stocked. Otherwise, it’s overcrowded and understaffed. Not my first choice, but it will do.

This will be my new Shoprite since the move. Its a big one with a great selection of stuff. Not one of the smaller stores. Shoprite Liquor on-site right by the meat department. Best part about it was the short checkout lines. Theres also a BJs connected to it, so that may draw some customers away from it. Shoprite was busy, but not overcrowded.

Its got pretty much everything you need. Clerks are nice. The only downside is that there are always so many people.

The grocery shop has so many things that I need and I love to go there to buy snacks. They strive to provide us the best service that exceeds our expectations. I will never forget to tell my friends and colleagues about this grocery shop for sure. I will surely drop by here again!

Shoprite been around a long time, I gave it 4 stars because they need to do much better in the Seafood Department, the fish look dried out all the time and its never sitting on ice!!!

Shoprite in downtown Jersey City is nothing short of excellent. One of the workers there named Paula made my day. I accidentally left my card home and she was kind enough to hold my groceries so I can go get my card to pay. Also my interaction with her was pleasant and wholesome.

They dont have enough people to keep the lines moving. Im constantly having to wait 30+ minutes just to check out

I had a delivery scheduled for a certain time, not only were they not on time they took an extra 2 hours to get me my groceries because they were backed up on ordered they didn’t fulfill the night before. This is absolutely ridiculous !! Then to be told they brought it back to the store & are gonna have to deliver it to me tomorrow. The online department is deplorable, and has no organization.

The worst store ever. Even a manager doesn’t know how to manage! Luck of respect. I will never give my dollar to this establishment. Needs serious staff here. Run the place the way it should be. I tried to talk to a manager about an issue, he didn’t even acknowledge me or even look at me. He just denied me a whole. I left and I felt very disrespected. No cool at all.

Good collection of fresh produce, canned goods and frozen items. Reasonably priced, and a separate isle for organic snacks you may want to experiment with. The only downside is I feel it is always crowded.

Good store, fruits and vegetables are mostly fresh and prices are reasonable. Dairy section is well stocked most of the time and they have a great bread selection including Pita bread. Be careful with pricing cos sometimes the scanned prices at the counters are different than listed prices!

They are open late, which is awesome. However its an older store scheduled to be obsolete in the next year or two. Consequently they havent improved or renovated it in a while. Sushi is hit or miss. Liquor store inside had different opening hours. Self checkout is one of the worst I have ever seen. The reusable plastic bags are worse than the self checkout. Not only are they borderline thin to meet the JC requirements, but they are also tiny and everything falls out.

Similar to people, grocery stores and supermarkets tend to be a product of their environment. I dont think they offer free delivery like other supermarkets. Im not sure but they definitely do regular delivery and online shopping. Their staff is mixed some are super friendly and the rest can be very rude. Either way they are helpful. Im mostly impressed with the cold cuts department. They are just phenomenal at their job and offer great service. I havent dealt too much with the baking department so I cant comment on it.

NEVER order from their delivery service! They alway find away to mess up your order. The people managing the delivery service should be fired/replaced! I placed an order about two years ago and had a problem with my delivery, I decided maybe to give them a second chance and try again. WRONG same problem. LAZY workers in this department. Get it together Shoprite, Amazon will take you out of business.

I do not know what it is about ShopRite but it is hit or miss with their customer service. The cashier who was apparently speaking to the supervisor next to me, whose eyes widened a bit then potentially rolled, very loudly in my direction said What is this?! TWICE!! In my direction, after I said I do not know what it is, its not mine, she proceeded to very rudely say Not You, Not You!! Well how am I suppose to know who your speaking to, when your looking in my direction? Lets try using words not in your vocabulary, such as excuse me or pardon. Not sure any location could be worse than East Orange but this one is close. I do not speak to people rudely, so I do not expect to be spoken to rudely. I will say she was very friendly to the customer she was ringing up.

I ordered home delivery at this location twice. First time I ordered, one of my item was out of stock at the time of my delivery. Same thing happened on my second order ( one item was out of stock again) and when I got my second delivery, I guess they just throw them around inside their truck without any care in the world . Because as I was looking and watching the driver unloading my stuff by the curb, one box of Pepsi case was open and messed up and i saw at least 4 cans rolled out of the box on the floor. One of them was empty ( I guess it spilled inside his truck) and the driver just left without apologizing and no word at all. Never going to order again. I paid for delivery and my order and this isnt what I paid for. I immediately called their customer service and she sounded unsympathetic and rude. I was told I will be refunded for those items. I guess it happens all the time at this location, that she is used to it already and say the same thing everytime like a script. Never gonna order again. I will put my business somewhere else.
