Great repair work on both my guitars ....was impressed by shop and caring folks there ....Jerseys best in my opinion
I used to love this place growing up but attention to detail is gone. I guess i didnt know as much when i was 17 but i am 30 now. Everyone ive sent here to get their guitars worked on had a complaint after. if you need to get your guitar set up go somewhere else.
Brought my guitar to change strings today. The clerk is very nice and gentle person. He helped me changed the strings professionally also help me lubricate the strings and oil the fingerboard. It was a very nice experience and glad to know there is a great guitar store near my home.Definitely will come back again if needed.
I needed guitar picks and they had guitar picks. I bought the guitar picks. Played guitar with the guitar picks. Five stars.(Inspired by the drum stick comment!)
Great service. Great atmosphere . Very helpful.
My kids have been taking lessons here for years and I give them the highest recommendation! Amazing, knowledgable and motivating teachers, excellent service, friendly and cool atmosphere. We love Metropolis Music.
I have been going to Metropolis for years for music lessons and instrument repair and purchase and I couldnt be happier with their services. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Metropolis is a neighborhood institution which I always look forward to visiting. Their teachers are always the best and Mark (the owner) is an expert at repairing and maintaining instruments. If you cannot find a particular instrument in his shop, he is happy to order one for you. I also enjoy browsing their selection of music instruction books. To anyone looking for a rock-solid music shop and/or music lessons for children or adults, I cant recommend Metropolis enough. It really adds a huge amount of value to the neighborhood, and has for years.
Nice local music store, and the owner is stand-up guy. If youre not sure what you want or have something that bothers you about your instrument, ask him what he thinks. He really helped in customizing my guitar with suggestions of things I didnt even know about. Ive been setting a course for adventure ever since!
A great music store, friendly atmosphere and I could not be happier with the customer service. I had new strings put in my violin and it was ready in no time. If you at the store, ask for Hector - he`s very knowledgeable and will patiently answer all your questions and give great suggestions. I have just started my adventure with the violin and he was a big help to me. The store also offers some classes which I may be taking in the near future. Also, the prices are reasonable too! Highly recommended! A++
Wonderful local music store. We have purchased instruments, had repairs done and taken lessons at Metropolis. Good prices and great service. Nice folks.
Actually 1.5 stars because the guys behind the counter are usually pretty cool. This store ripped me off on a repair, and I feel needlessly risked damaging my instrument as well. I brought in my acoustic because of fret buzz. I was basically charged $40-50 for them to carelessly over-adjust the truss rod. The action was so high the instrument was unplayable. Such a careIess adjustment of a truss rod in a short period of time can damage a guitar. I will never again bring in an instrument here for repair. oh yea, the older guy who i assume is the owner was pretty rudeUPDATE: thank you for your response. the action was so high when i received the instrument back such that i found the instrument to be unplayable. after getting the guitar back, I re-adjusted the action myself to a point where the instrument was playable and fret buzz was mostly gone. it was obvious that several turns had been unnecessarily made on the truss, and IMO an instrument should never leave a shop in a state where the user must readjust it to make it playable.
Great job on helping me find the perfect piano for me. I have no idea how to select the best type of instrument but the people here assisted me.
I needed drum sticks and they had drum sticks. i bought the drum sticks. played drums with the drum sticks. five stars.
Still waiting too hear from Metropolis
I had a guitar set up here and i have to say everything was perfect! i highly recommend this place! very nice!
Great service. Great prices . I highly recommend .
Thank you Jared for scheduling help and Neville LGreen for great lessons.
Friendly neighborhood music store. Did a great job replacing some electronics in an old guitar for a very good price.
Had my guitar tuned. They told me it will be done in 3 days. Ok fine, third day I called, they have not worked on it yet., ok fine. Picked it up the third week. I paid 60 dollars. Went home, played it the following day. To my shock. It was still buzzing and not setup. I say booo.... my fault not checked it when i was in the store. Trying to patronize a local store and this is what I get. Should have brought it at guitar center. 😠😠😠
Great shop, great service, great teachers, great long time staple of the neighborhood!
Ive been meaning to write a review for metropolis music for quite some time. Being a student here on and off for the last two years, with a stellar attendance rate, its the least I could do.First off, how cool is the name metropolis? If youre not immediately thinking guitar super hero, then read no further for we will not get along. So like I said, Ive been taking lessons here for a short while now and despite having a very hectic work schedule and being too old for parents to force me to practice consistently, and a husband who now probably hates guitar music because it really wasnt music for a long time, I kept coming back. The store owner Mark is super cool, he has all sorts of different interests and I could spend hours just chatting with him about vintage cameras or when I will finally buy my first real guitar. (Walden, anyone?)Ive taken lessons with eddie, art, alex, and now finally with dan. I think you just have to find the right teacher for your style, but they were all rock gods in their own way. Very intimidating to jam with them and especially embarrassing when you didnt practice. But they are all awesome and even as an adult, I highly recommend checking out the store if you want to take lessons, buy an instrument, or just learn something new!Cant recommend this place enough!
I got ripped off on pro mark hot rods. I needed them today, so its great that the shop exists, but they were 27 bucks without tax. At Guitar Center they are 14 bucks. I told the store clerk and he told me that he didnt have a distribution deal with Promark. Ok- fine, but even if they are buying them from Guitar Center at regular consumer prices Metropolis would still be making a 93% mark up.I love small shops and would love to support, but the price was outrageous and they gave me a kind of BS excuse too. Not happy.
Awesome, home town spot. Great selection of instruments and talented teachers.
Great people. Quality Service.
Very bad experience. DO NOT TAKE THEIR CLASSES!! They ask you to prepay the class and also a 24hr notice for cancellation, yet when they need to cancel the class they only tell you 3 hours before the class.
I did not appreciate +200% markup for violin strings. clerk: yeah, well, weve had them for awhile.., I can see why!
Ive been frequenting this store since i was in highschool when it opened. The owner (Mark) is the MAN. Cool ppl, reasonable prices.
A solid music shop in downtown. Ive taken lessons, bought stuff, and gone in just to check stuff out. I like this place. Staff is very friendly and helped me choose the right pick up for my acoustic. Not many music stores around so its nice to have a local spot.
The lady that works there was utterly unprofessional and rude. And the Oud strings that were repaired snapped after one month..
