I had a pre-paid package. Whenever I try to book an appointment, it is already full.Twice, they have cancelled my appointment after I reached there. Once citing that the wax specialist had an emergency ( I had to go to a wedding that evening). The other time was because they were double booked. They have never been able to find any suitable replacement appointment.On cancelling my appointment (after I reached there), I had to call them to get it rescheduled. On the call, the lady at the front desk kept me on hold 3 times (after already having wasted my time by cancelling the appointment after I showed up). They should atleast have the respect not to keep me on hold after having been at fault. The wax specialist in the next appointment tried her best to accommodate all my services in the limited time she had. They charged me for all the services and I even tipped generously at 25%. However, after coming home, I saw huge patches if hair that had not even been touched. It was the worst wax job I had ever had.I will totally not advise getting a pre-paid package from them as that is when their show their true colors.

The staff that attended me was great and full of beneficial information of self-care for my waxed areas. Definitely returning, and recommending. Thank you, RP

Worst job I’ve ever got done. Wax all over, powder all over .why won’t you tell customer to roll their shirt up or take it off if you see it gets on their clothes. All over my clothes, everywhere . Leftover hair wasn’t plucked at all . She didn’t even bother just smh not to mention that she was late for 20 min👍

The staff is never friendly or compassionate when I come. This is the last time I come here. I just had a newborn 2 months ago, my third baby, and this is my first time out to get a lil pampered. My Lyft driver dropped me off 5 blocks away so I had to walk making me 5 minutes late to my appt after “the grace period” they turned me away. Covid still hasn’t humbled businesses, has it ?

As i was being checked, Valentina at the desk said i just missed the 9 min grace period. So not only did they lose my business for that one service, they lose for future visits. Ive been going to this location for a while. And while the rest of the world is in a pandemic and making exceptions and empathizing a little, i guess this place doesnt care about that.Thank you,A health care worker

I used to go to EWC in the city and loved the service. I had a good experience here the first time but then I have been trying to reschedule for more than 3 times and either my appointment gets cancelled last minute or the person I have scheduled with doesnt work there anymore.

The last couple times I was with Ariel in Jersey City location. Shes great! So happy with her!!!

These five stars go out to VANESSA SANTOS!! If anyone is looking for a professional yet personable specialist, she is your girl!! Always a great experience whenever I get my wax from her. My 2nd visit with Lilly. She is a phenomenal waxer. She has such gentle hands that your experience is painless and seamless! I’ve been an avid braz waxer for over 10 years now and this is by far the best wax ive ever experienced!!! I’ve gone to almost every spa/waxing salon in NY/NJ and EWC is hands down the best!! And Lilly just makes it so much better!!! She will be my go to from here on out! Book with Lilly you will absolutely love her and her services!!

I arrived ten minutes late to my appointment, which was my fault, and I apologized the moment I arrived. The front counter attendee made it clear that I had missed the 9 minute grace period, and acted extremely put out. She said she would check with my beautician, but after repeatedly pointing out how late I was, she decided not to check and told me to go. Overall the attitude of this attendee could have been improved. At a minimum she could have checked whether they could accommodate me.

Love the wax. Hate the difficulty in getting appointments. Just need to plan ahead, thats it.

Well since it has been three weeks since my complaint was made at the salon and I leave a message for the manager every week with no call back, I had no choice but to write my review. I started about a year ago at this location when I moved here and there is ALWAYS a scheduling issue. I do not know if the front desk staff is not trained properly or if the salon is greedy and overbooks their wax specialists but at least every other time I arrive for my appointment, they are running late. I am already on my third girl in a year because of high staff turnover is. The past two out of three times I have gone, they have run 20-30 minutes late for my appointment. There is even a note on my account to call if they are running late because I am only five minutes away. A few days after my last appointment, the assistant manager called me and told me it wasnt her problem that the employee ran late and that she would not credit me for anything. That is when I requested to speak to someone else and after 3 weeks, no call. Its sad because the front desk and techs are so nice but the horrible management shows right through.

My experience has always been amazing. I had Shelly twice since they open back up after the pandemic she is pretty good. Before Pandemic I had Gloria for the 3 year I been getting a wax.......I really do miss her 🤗

Was little late and they cut most of the services. Also burnt my eyebrows.

The holy place! Very happy they’ve reopened now. They do contactless check in and temperature checks and the place is always clean and sanitized.

The amount of stars I’m give is not to the place itself it’s to a worker that I unfortunately had. Place itself is 4 stars. I love this place so clean and smells great. However I’m seeing some reviews about a Shelly saying she’s amazing, which means there must be two shellys cause the Shelly I had (she had glasses and dreadlocks) ripped me apart she was SO ROUGH and pretty rude my waxing pain is normally gone an hour or two after but I am still in pain 6+hours later. She made this experience so horrible for me that I just never wanna wax again. I’ve waxed so many times and never did I ever feel like this. I’m so upset!

It helps to make sure you keep on schedule, which is important to aid the hair in growing back slower and more fine.Tip: Your appoint will be CANCELLED if you do not make it within 9 MINUTES after your appointment. If there are available slots to cover your services, you may be able to have your appointment rescheduled.

I love my time here, getting waxed is sometimes the only type of self care that I get to do that week and always leave feeling clean and smooth. I usually go to Gloria but all of the waxologists(?) are great and professional.

My first experience at this EWC location was incredible! I was nervous to go back due to the pandemic, but the team took precautionary screenings/checks to ensure it was safe to visit the wax center (i.e. texted me a day prior to check for symptoms, contactless check-in, checked my temp upon arrival, etc). The team was wearing gloves + masks, and had plenty of hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies on deck. Felt very clean/safe!My wax specialist was Amanda K - after reading a ton of incredible reviews about her, I am SO happy I was able to see her! She was so kind, sweet, and professional. The appointment was quick and precise, I left feeling fresh and clean :) would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a great waxer in the area!

Arrived on time for my appointment and had to wait over 20+ minutes for the receptionist to tell me that there had been some confusion with my appointment and I would have to wait 45 minutes outside (due to covid) until the next availability. Terrible communication and customer service.

I had a very bad experience back on Valentines Day 2021 - I was running late for my appointment last week and I was calling the Wax Center multiple times! They always pick up on the first call and is able to still accommodate me because life happens.Sadly this did not happen on that day - I called again and a girl picked up with an attitude rushing the greeting. I explained I just pulled up and I have been trying to contact them about this. She gave me a straight attitude saying they are busy because its a holiday, there is one 2 people on calls and checking people in & that will not try to accommodate me with my esthetician.The way she handled that call upset me so much I was about to ask for a manager but I didnt.... I ended uo hanging up and rescheduled for this Sunday. A week later!! This is not how customer service should be! Usually I get the bet customer service from the men & women who work there but this woman who took my call dropped the ball.This has made me consider not reactivating my wax pass once this current one I have is used up. My service today was wonderful like usual and the people at the front desk were great! Its just very unfortunate that last week was not the same.

Very clean and friendly but very overbooked when I went and my appointment was about an hour late.

Every location Ive been to has been excellent. But this location is my favorite. Friendly, competent front desk staff. And my favorite waxer who Ive been going to for years. In fairness, all the waxers Ive tried (when my favorite has been on vacation, etc) have been very good - no mishaps! I just have my personal preference. They also have good deals on packages.

Amanda is amazing! I’ve recommended 3 people & they all love her. She is funny, makes you feel very comfortable & conversation is great with her.

The overall wax service was decent at best. She left hairs but I wasnt even truly upset by this since it wasnt completely noticeable. My issue was with the receptionist. The gentleman who answers the phone and think hes the boss. My mistake was not getting his name but hes the reason Im not coming back. I needed to return and item and he acted as if it was coming out of his check. Giving me a bunch of excuses why I cant return it until I checked him then miraculously it was returned. No apology, no see you soon. Just his attitude! Get better front desk staff. I live in walking distance to this place, but I will take the 20 minute train ride for the wax center in NYC. Since, they actually care about customer service, and my eyebrows are always slayed!

I had a great experience here.Work was done very well.Professional.Super clean.Very friendly.Worth paying the price vs the small beauty stores.They do not reuse the wooden stick like most unhygienic places do.

Sherry was great, but the overall management was poor. I went in as a walk-in guest for underarm waxing which was advertised as $18 everywhere . After the service, they said it was $22 and that they had raised the rates just the same day. I told them that they should have informed me when I checked in (since all their material still shows $18 as the cost of service) and all they could do was say sorry and try to sell me a package to bring down the cost!

Amanda is AMAZING. Sweet personality with great convo, quick and efficient. It was my first Brazilian and it will not be my last. Highly reccomended!

Came to this location several times and each time was worse than the last. Ive had the staff tell me different information each time. When I booked an appointment online I called in two hours prior just to make sure I was in, and the receptionist did not see my name in the system said I had booked it for the next day, when I called in the next day they said I have booked it the day before. Another time, a technician seem to rush the process and forgot several areas then afterwards at checkout the gentleman ran my card twice and charge me double then I had to ask for a follow-up appointment. This place needs a staff make-over very rude and unfriendly to customers. Avoid this location. I live 5 minutes from this place but I rather go to Bayonne, that location is very customer friendly and the technicians are wonderful.

I love EWC of JC, but since Veronkia left, I am not happy going there. Shelly is great when you can get her. I tried Isabel and Destni not happy with their technique of waxing at all. Not sure, if I will be going back. Coming from the Ironbound in Newark to JC used to be worth it.

I give this place a no star. The only way to post i had to put 1. I went to this place today and got a very bad burn from wax lady Gloria ( older lady with short hair) who tried to cover it up and say I had a hemrod that is why I got burnt. The specialist Amanda ( long brown hair) confirmed that she burned me to then in turn told her manager this was because of a hemrod. By the way Amanada I have UC not hemrod. I was bleeding on the table for over 20 minutes. Manager try to blame me that my meds caused sensitivity meanwhile Ive been coming to their center for over 3 years and website acne meds will cause sensitive. Manager didnt say sorry and told me I just walk in and didnt put my stuff down. Smh I am in so much pain and she is worried about her stuff. Bottom line this place needs a evalution on manger and employees.

So I’m a frequent Wax customer who ALWAYS goes to EWC in Edgewater! Due to some life situations I would have to come to this location or the Queens, NY location. After reading reviews I decided to give JC a try. I booked with no preferences. I was a bit nervous because it’s my Brazilian and I just gave birth to a baby boy 3 months ago. It was a c section on top of that. So imagine my anxiety. The front desk was friendly, kind and looked sharp. My Waxer was Ally. Ally was WONDERFUL. She spoke to me throughout the whole process. She explained all the steps etc. Not only was she polite and very communicative she was gentle. I was in pain but of course I would be, ive been away a while. She mentioned some products to buy. I mentioned I have them which I do. Once I walked out the front didn’t pitch their sales pitch. Tbh I would’ve bought the body was Ally told me about but since the front didn’t push it I didn’t buy it. So I would say front desk needs to be more commutative with customers not only say hi and check people in.Anyways I hope this review can help someone that can be in the same boat I was an hour ago. The staff always has a good attitude. The part I dislike is that the waxers are a bit pushy with product selling and when I finally gave in and bought some I was really amazed that the slow growth lotion really really works!! So well that my usual every 3 weeks waxed had to be rescheduled and pushed back another week in hopes that maybe Ill have some hair by then. Products actually work!=)

I like that they gived me a 50% off for the brazilian wax because it was my first time there and the girl who did the wax was very nice and friendly. However, the receptionist (female) who first recieved me was unfriendly, and had an actuttud. I didnt like the work the costmetologist did because she left hair in the vikiny lines, and the back. A brazilian wax should removed all the hair from the vikiny, inside the lips and the pompies. Then after is done the girld should had give me a mirror for me to see if I liked what she did. I asked for the mirror and she said they dont do that. Unfortunstelly, it was my first time there and it is going to be my last. I didnt like the work or the service. .... just want to add tge male receptionist was very nice and friendly.

I came in here to get waxing done wt Corina. She is very professional, calm n will talk u thru the whole process. I have low tolerance of pain but she is very quick wt it.. Pain is manageable that lasts for seconds.. Make an appointment n bring cash because they dnt accept cards.

Great waxer, nearly painless best waxer I have had so far and she is very personable. Great to talk to and just over all awesome.

My initial experience was pretty good, there was little to no pain, the staff was friendly and I left feeling very good about the experience... a little to good to be true.. its been about a week since I had my brazilian and now it looks like I have RAZOR BURN all over my area.. the hair thats growing back looks and feels like I shaved.. (which I havnt done for the past 4 years.) I am pretty confused about why, do they not wax properly? I feel like they didnt grab the hair by the roots so I am pretty uncomfortable and pretty unhappy about my result..

Some of the staff on the front desk are super rude. They don’t even put an effort to reschedule or accomodate the customers. The only reason I keep going is the services. Its not a nice experience to deal with the front desk people.
