Good place to stop in Journal Square and get necessities, as we do not have a decent American grocery. Excellent for dairy, eggs, staples like rice, flour, sugar, oil, baking powder. As with most Indian stores they dont have meat or fish, nor any typical American foods like bacon, bread, cereal, coffee. Fairly good selection of vegetables, mediocre choice of fruit, no quality ice cream. Soda and orange juice.Excellent and reasonably priced fresh spices.Be careful of produce freshness, its not always the best but they do always have great potatoes.

Enjoy this multi cultural supermarket. Some of the aisles are labeled by country.. Extensive seafood department. Excellent butchers with a more diverse selection than your big supermarket chains.

Irresponsible worker during pandemic situation. I was there on a weekend and noticed 1 worker was stacking grain packets on shelves and was using a push pin to puncture the packets to release air from inside. He was putting the push pin inside his mouth while taking grain packets from box and using the same pin to puncture them.I told him not to do that for hygienic reason and the pandemic situation. What do I get in return? He got angry for telling him and was yelling at me.You can decide whether to go to this place and encourage these kind of irresponsible behavior or not.My suggestion is DO NOT go to this store.

This place is good but the Manager name Maharishi is very bad and unprofessional. He doesn’t know how to treat customers. Last week I went to shop and there was a sign showing lime is $1 for 10. After I packed them in my bag and put it in my cart he comes over and sees the price and said it is incorrect price he will not owner this price I said it is not my fault you should be giving the price that you displayed he was very rude and said that is only in American stores not an Indian store. He should not be working there. He needs to go to school and learn what call discipline. If you are owner of this store and reading this comment please be serious this guy will make you lose in your business.

Big Bazaar is a well known supermarket to my family and I. We shop there regularly and find fresh fruits and vegetables for low prices. The staff is real welcoming and are happy to answer your question. If you’re looking for a local super market, I would recommend this place. They also have real good samosas!!!!!

This place came recommend by my neighbor who visits the place often. They had everything my wife asked for and the shoppers and staff were helpful in finding everything I needed. By my neighbors suggestion I visited before 5pm and I can see why. Being a city store its tight quarters so I can only imagine how crowded it is after work gets out. Id definitely visit again now that Im have a better handle on where to find things.

Its cramped specifically in the veggies section, the billing line doesnt have space. Its difficult to follow social distancing .But if you are there dont forget to grab kulfi Falooda icecream 🤤

The customer service at this store is beyond reprehensible. I have been a Jersey City resident and customer of Newark Avenue Shops for over 40 years, I have never received such poor service then I have at this store. I recently purchased some fruits, vegetables, and coconuts from this store for a pooja and realized the coconuts were completely rotten! I called the store to inform them of my discovery and was hung up on after lodging my complaint. For $2 this owner has lost my and my families business for life. I will never shop here ever again and I will advise all others to shop elsewhere. Buyer beware!

Big bazaar is ine of the better Indian grocery stores on the block. Cleaner than Patel and less busy than Apna bazaar. Sometimes they dont have an item, but that doesnt happen that often.Go Saturday for better fresh veggies. Sundays havent been that good.The store is a bit narrow, bit manageable.This is our go to store.

We bought some essentials during our trip to Jersey City. This place is like few other supermarkets, stored most popular items, was a bit disorganized and had expressionless counter staff.

July 23, 2020So today I went for my regular grocery shopping and while entering the store I saw 2 buckets of Rakhis at the left side of entrance. The bucket was labeled Rakhi $1 (3rd August). So I started looking through them and picked out 5 rakhi (took me 10 minutesto find pairs becauseof the messy buckets). Finishing my groceries I went to the register and boooomm the Rakhis I bought are priced for $1.99 each. I told the cashier I picked out from the bucket labeled $1. She is like no but this one is $1.99. In the whole store there was no labeled for Rakhis being $1 or more and even $1- $1.99.I asked to speak with the manager but cashier told me manager is not here. Like you run this big store without a manager. The cashier lady started rudely behaving and told me if you want buy it or leave it. The other guy working there started to separate the Rakhis according to their prices when I was leaving the store. Like I just buy groceries worth $50 every week from your store and you teaching me what to do.I have nothing to do with your selling price, I would have bought them even if they were labeled $1.99, but get your management upgraded. Literally no items are labeled all over the store. With some rude and absent minded staff there.Respected owner if youre reading this do check the cameras for Register 2 at 5:57pm.

Super expensive. Recently this store has started selling its grocery through thefactoryfresh.com. that website has Apna bazar on it as well. Big bazar keeps $ 4 to $5 more for the identical products. I noticed that and mentioned it to tthe factory fresh.com, they said its not in our hand. store decides the price.

Since, few years I have been shopping at Aapka Big Bazaar. My overall experience was very good with them. Staff are very cooperative and friendly. I had also placed online order several times and received my stuff accurately and on time. Best place for shopping groceries in store oronline. I always find fresh produce at reasonable price. My favorite grocery store ever !

Store is good but in the current situation they are not following social distancing policy. Everyone is on top of everyone. Store employees and managers should enforce social distancing to everyone.

Its an okay place nothing great or extraordinary. Vegetables and fruits are not so fresh and the age old indian store problem of less cleanliness is very evident. There is almost nothing in this store that cannot be found in patel brothers. Remember to carry bags :)

It’s a pretty big and spacious store for a business that’s located on a very tight and congested street. I actually found a few items here that are actually cheaper in price than if u were to get it from the infamous patels across the street.

As Indian grocery stores go, this is at the top of its class. Best quality, many options, clean, well kept, easy to find things there. The people working there are all friendly and helpful. They take ownership of their work and it shows. Also, affordable price than most of its competitors.I definitely recommend this place for groceries and fresh vegetables.

Good place. You can find almost all Indian groceries here. Most of the famous brands are available. No parking available as this is a busy street, but paid parking are at walkable distance. Good deals on snacks and biscuits. Frozen paratha section is well stacked and has good variety.

Nothing special about this store, but sometimes you will get better price on specific product. I will prefer this store over patel brothers and apna bazar. One thing I like here is staff better than any other stores.

A good alternative to apnabaazar and Patel Brothers. One may not find the collection of organic pulses and rice varieties here but for Indian veggies and snacks they are good. It is a lot cleaner than apnabaazar and Patel brother

Some Indian grocery items are only available here among the 3-4 Indian grocery shops on Newark Ave at Jersey City. Produce could be fresher.

Similar to patel brothers but sometimes we get the things here cheaper than Patel brothers so we go groceries from here as well. Till now we havnt had any issues with the vegetables taken from this store so we are good but sometimes i have seen that they keep the tomato prices very low but the quality is bad so i have not purchased it but they do it to get it sold as quickly as possible.

Good place for Indian groceries. A bit congested and crowded but lots of choices of groceries. No parking. Quick check-out. Place is generally clean. Wheelchair access may not be possible since the place is crowded. Dosa, idli, etc. batter is available. There is minimum amount limit to use credit card. People are helpful. The place is well lit.

The Bazaar has every possible food & spice an Indian can ask for. Groceries, vegetables, greens, anything. Frozen breads, cottage cheese, dinners & anything u can think of. Its always very busy in here almost like a fish market, but the availability compensates.

I used to like this place until i decided to try out their online service. For an order sent on Saturday, it them 4 days to get my grocery and that too after following up everyday for the last 3 days! Finally when my grocery arrived some of my items ordered were found missing. I am never again shopping with them again whether online or in person after such a bad experience

One week ago I bought a bread here. when I opened this bread it had a big hole and mouse poop in it. It is very disgusting that you guys don’t check the things that you sell. I do not know if you have a sanitary problem there including that there are pidgeons inside the store. It is so sad to have to write this review but something like this never happened to me. I certainly won’t come here anymore.

Highly disorganized, queue at the checkout is really confusing not sure where its starting and where it is ending. But good thing is they have good collection but difficult to find no clear signs or nothing for departments.
