The guys down at Tanners are amazing. Saturday night my vans Transmission blew. And in less than a day i got a quote and a plan of action. I cannot recommend these guys enough. They have worked on all of our vehicles for the past several years and our entire fleet of 12 work trucks doing everything from oil changes to transmissions replacements. They stand by their work and are extremely professional. I have never had an issue with them. Go there to get it fixed and it will only need done once.

I’m not sure how I managed to get to Tanners reviews when I was looking up something else but I was not disappointed by the replies to the reviews section 🤣. I personally think they’re excellent, always friendly and always willing to explain everything. Never have they ever done something extra without my permission and they’re always on time with appointments.

I took my car there about a week ago for inspection after getting ripped off at another shop. Secretary was very friendly and helpful. It needed some work they called and gave me a quote I told them I needed a week to pay for it. They were willing to help me out and trust me and do the work. When I picked my car up they did the work that was needed and my car is running great. Highly recommend mike and his staff! They definitely know what their doing and they are not out to rip anyone off. This is where I will go from now on if I ever have any car problems

Tanners Garage saved my butt when my car broke down in Jamestown this week. Im not from the area and would have been stranded without them. Mike is a great guy. Love the staff he has there. I had an issue come up with my vehicle and even with them having a busy schedule they got me in and taken care. These guys are the best.

Cost me $7900!So, Im am out of towner that went there for a pre-purchase inspection on a private sale. I was expecting to pay $75-$150 for the service as most mechanics do. They were cordial and nice enough. They take a look at the vehicle, give it a once over, get under it. Didnt run a full diagnostic though. They gave the vehicle a clean bill of health. Well, I get back around my neighborhood, fill up the tank before heading home, park. Next morning I have a big leak under the SUV. Finally found out there was a fuel system leak. There was a brand new plate installed under the car that my current mechanic has noted. In all probability was installed to hide the fuel stains that were, and still are, plaguing the SUV. Should have been caught in the pre-purchase inspection.Now, they didnt charge me the service fee, which was weird. I would have gladly paid, of course. But now that small sum saved is going to cost me thousands if I want this vehicle in full working order. I purchased a lemon. Did everything right as far as pre purchasing goes. Makes me wonder if they knew each other....

My car needed a lot of work to pass inspection as usual and I was surprised they were able to complete the repairs so quickly. I feel they went out of their way to make sure I was happy with them.

Nice staff and decent work, but, when I got my tires done, they put my old dirty tires on my seats with no barrier. When I went to walmart they wrapped them up with plastic and put a paper barrier on my seats to protect them. It was disappointing and thoughtless they didnt do the same.

Very trust worthy owner/mechanics. He knows what hes doing and doesnt try to fix things that dont need fixing! Reasonable rates, inspection done there. Usually same day work is complete. Very busy place, would recommend calling ahead.

We called to see if we needed an appointment for inspection for an out of state car...the nicest woman in Jamestown answered the phone and all our questions. When we took the vehicle in, we were treated to incredibly fast service and repairs at a VERY reasonable price. They now have customers for life in us! Thank you for a WONDERFUL experience!!

Have chosen tanners for my vehicle needs for over a year now. Will always continue to go back and help a local business. Their mechanics are knowledgeable and quick, and Ive never had an issue there. The new service Writer Margaret is very nice and personable. Quick to answer questions and get you the best service!

Mike and his crew help me in a pinch I had. Hedlight out, go to work at 2pm. Buy headlights at another. Cant get the boot off to do myself. Its the winter,say enough. In and out in 15 min. Thanks guys!

My only complaint is that I can’t give more than 5 stars. My car needed towed, and my tow truck driver recommended this place. We arrived after hours and dropped it off. The driver gave me an old business card of theirs to call the next day, Saturday. Unfortunately, the card was old in stating they had Saturday hours. They haven’t had the hours for three years. By some fluke, the mechanic came to the shop for something and returned my voicemail. Even though this man had the day off, spending it with his children, he still took the time TO FIX MY CAR AND GET IT RETURNED TO ME THE SAME DAY. I’ve never been so impressed with this kind of service. I will forever make them my go to shop for all my mechanical needs. I highly recommend them.

Professional, courteous and great staff! These people are literally life savers. Went in to get my A.C. recharged. They explained their process in detail and answered any questions and now my car is cranking out ice cold air. Much needed on a long road trip on a 90 degree+ day. Cant say enough good things about this place and its my new go to shop for sure.

They always find time to explain everything even if they are crazy busy. Everyone is always pleasant and Mike is extremely hands on. Its wonderful to see an owner who gets into every part of the business and is so personable as well as professional. My Saturn Vue always gives them a run for their money but they keep the old girl in tip top shape.

Never been to this garage but it is a good friend of mines and he would never steer you wrong I miss ya Mike and glad your doing good if I ever end up there I will use ur garage first :)

Great place and amazing staff! Only went in for a state inspection, but they were welcoming and efficient.

I took my truck here for a broken e-brake cable, leaking fuel tank, replacement clutch, and state inspection. When I dropped it off, Mike cautioned me that a replacement tank and clutch may take a day or two to arrive. I appreciated the warning so I could make arrangements to get to and from work. He called me later to confirm the fuel tank and broken cable needed to be replaced, but he talked me out of a new clutch because he felt it had too much life left on it to warrant replacement. He recommended some brake work I already knew I needed, but I declined this because I can do it myself. The cost of the work he did was reasonable (I had paid for a new e-brake cable once before on this truck at another shop, and the cost was similar), and the quality of the work was excellent. The replacement tank was thoroughly undercoated, ensuring it will last the life of the truck. His shop appears very well-maintained and equipped, and the staff I dealt with were all polite and professional. This is an excellent garage, and I will deal with them for all of my future needs.

Been bringing my cars and trucks to Tanners Garage for more years than I care to say. Dave retired and I was concerned about who I could trust to maintain my vehicles. Luckily Dave was as careful about who he sold the business to as he was about auto repair. Five stars to a life long friendship and one of those things we take for granted an honest auto repair shop.

I was so impressed, I called to see if they could fit me in for an inspection on my 80s 3/4ton this afternoon, and I was told to hurry down. I arrived there, told them I had just called and they had me pull right into a bay. I was able to get drive across Jamestown, get and inspection, drive back, and still had time to eat on my lunch break! These guys are the best!

They charged me for a new battery and ended up leaving the old one in it..

I decided to take my vehicle there and Im so glad I did. Margaret was an absolute sweetheart and explained everything in detail. The owner even offered to find a bracket for me to put my front license plate on before I told him I had brought one. Every single customer that walked in the door were all greeted like old friends and that showed me this place does something right. My alternator died while i was in Jamestown, NY. I am from Buffalo, NY and was only there for the day on a work related venture.Not only did the Tow truck driver assist me by calling around to local garages, all who were busy for a few days, but he also called Tanners Garage who not only immediately took me, but shopped around for the best part, put it in and even spruced up my battery, by cleaning and lubing it.Needless to say if it wasnt for Tanners I could have potentially been stranded in Jamestown, NY.They had wonderful customer service, did a great job and at a fair price.I highly recommend them!

I called Tanners on a short notice, about a ignition problem. As it was I was from out of town and being worried about being taken advantage of. After explaining my situation, I was told that it could be done and I would get my car back the same day. Mr. Tanner evaluated my car and called me, with a price that surprised me. I would recommend his staff and service for all of your auto needs. Very trustworthy, excellent pricing and auto center to keep in your phone.

I had appointment today to have 4 new BF Goodrich tires put on Chevy 05 silverado 2500 HD today. Bought the tires else where but we go to tanners exclusively because of the friendly manner, expertise, honesty and sublime work. However today, it seems they have changed for the worse and makes me sad.Everyone has that one place they trusted, but tanners is not it anymore. They put the new tires on as requested, however took over 2 hours to do it, which confused me. Appointment started at 10 am which I scheduled days ahead. During the 2 hours I was waiting a lot of times I would go see how its coming, and my tires are leaned against a stack of tires and no one around working on my truck. around 11 am no one around. Saw one worker working on another vehicle.I was thinking, hoping they are not charging me labor by the hour. I sit back down and wait. Around 12 pm they are finally done. What really makes me angry is that they order lug nuts to replace my other ones on a tire because they are rounded WITHOUT asking me first. They charged me 31 dollars for that and 69 dollars for labor when the tire mount and balance is only 8 dollars a piece. No one came to tell me why or what they were doing, they just did it. Breaks the heart. 69 dollars for 2 hours labor when most of the time I looked no one was doing anything? I am afraid I may have to look for another mechanic.Even the nice guy that use to greet everyone and help seems to have been replaced. We really liked that guy. Made us feel like we were in good hands.

Mike the owner is honest and a man of his word!

While visiting Jamestown for the Comedy Festival, the air conditioning in my SUV quit working. I asked two festival volunteers for the name of a garage and they recommended Tanners. I met Mike the owner who was friendly and willing to help. Although all the garage bays were full, he started diagnosing the problem right away. This could have been very time consuming and a major expense but Mike found the problem, explained it to me in detail and proceeded to fix it! I paid the very fair price of $60 and was on the road in under 40 minutes. Three days later on the 300 mile ride home the a/c was cranking out cold air! Mikes love and knowledge of cars and his honest and upfront way of doing business is an asset to Jamestown. I only wish I lived closer- Tanners would be my garage for everything!.

My car needed some major work done on it, I didnt know what to do, I usually take my vehicles to Barmores but wasnt impressed with their work or price, Ive gone to Monroe awhile back so I went to n had them estimate what how much it was very pricey so I looked around for a better price, I had heard about tanners garage but never went to it, I then heard that they had opened up another shop in cassadaga so I thought to myself that they must b doin something rite to open another shop so I made an appointment at the cassadaga location to get my car looked over. When I got there I met the technician (Chris) n the service writer (Roger) they seamed like pretty nice gentlemen, Chris then took my car into the garage n looked it over, shortly after Chris comes out n tells me what was wrong with my car n him n Roger looked up what the cost of parts n labor was gunna be, they tell me the price n it was like a 3rd if not less then what the other shops had quoted me. I asked them how long it would take to fix it, I was expecting him to say a day or 2 to get my car legal n safe, he then told me it would take no more then a couple hrs, it was done in no time they were very helpful n explained everything in detail of what they had done, which is very good cuz I had no idea what a lot of the work was til Chris explained it. I would definitely recommend this shop to everyone. Tanners is now my new mechanic, they did Incredible work n the guys were friendly n very helpful.
