Really rude people. Need to go to customer service training or something. First, the place looks closed. Then you get in and its all dark. The young woman at the counter acts like youre bothering her when you ask for stuff and want to pay for stuff. Nobody comes to talk to you about how much the stuff costs or what it does. This is why small business fails and big business thrives. I really want to give my money to a local small business more than Lowes or evil Home Depot, but more than that, I need good customer service. This place needs a serious wake up call. Ill go back in about a year and see if theyve gotten their act together.

When this placed opened up roughly 20 years ago they actually cared and had good equipment for sale, now theyre all about money with trash equipment that continuously breaks down. So now when it breaks they fix it and youre back in the next week or 2 getting it fixed again. Buyer beware...

I spend a total of over an hour there today getting parts?that I needed took to long getting the parts and supplies that I needed and then were out of stock on common parts for anyone need a simple part. I was too lazy to sharpen the blades from my mower. Called and spoke with a friendly rep who confirmed they provided that service and provided a ballpark price. Took the blades in and the sharpening work was performed and the blades returned to me while the cashier was still ringing up the sale. Fast, friendly service for just over half of what the near-by shop I usually patronize charges.

I had the best experience just the other day. the sales rep Hunter went out of his way to make sure he sold me the right mower for the work I do. I went in a week earlier and had my old mower serviced and it was 10 years old. unfortunately the motor was shot. I was not expecting to have to buy a new mower, but Hunter made me feel very comfortable with the process . Hunter explained all the safety features and let me demo the mower so I can feel comfortable with the mower. I cant say enough how well I was treated. Will be coming back for all my lawn products and services

This is a great shop. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Easy to deal with and competitive prices on equipment. Only negative would be the only work in the brands of equipment they sell. I guess that could be a positive too since they are very knowledgeable on those brands.

I have ordered parts parts for a mower that I purchased from them 2 weeks ago James said they should come in about 5 days it is now 14 days no phone calls communication is poor! I am very unhappy!

I stopped by today, while preparing for hurricane Dorian, to see if they sold generator parts. The response was, “We are not selling generator parts TODAY. We are just selling complete generators.” I then went to Northern Tool and they said they would check to see if they had the parts I needed and would GIVE them to me if they had them.

As a home owner with a fairly small yard I had never seen the need to invest in quality equipment until I found Tools For A Time. Instead of buying cheap equipment every season from the big box stores I’m saving money in the long run and a lot of headaches by buying the best.Whether it’s my Honda generator, Echo Backpack Blower, or Chainsaw, they start the first pull every time I need them. Had my Honda lawn mower repaired. They were honest and open about the repair costs and they gave me a good time estimate- 2weeks compared to 3-4weeks at other shops. Every person that helped me was courteous and knowledgeable.

This place is awesome! I met the owners about a year ago when we moved here. They are life-long residents of Jacksonville who are heavily involved in our community, extremely charitable, patriotic to the core, and committed to their values and beliefs. I purchased all my lawn equipment (non-commercial) from them and they were amazing! Even though much of their business is commercial, and the few thousand dollars we were spending was relatively insignificant, they were highly professional and helped us navigate the lawn care purchase world. I love my Exmark and we actually have a family rotation because everyone wants a turn cutting the grass.I’m sure there are times they can’t repair someone’s mower in an hour, or get blamed for inoperable equipment, or actually charge for rentals. And yes, they’re closed on Sundays (a decision I highly respect and support). But get to know the Tools For A Time family and you’ll see a great group of people who know their products, take care of their customers, and live out their mission. Original post with update....I used them for some time and thought I had a good relationship with them. I wanted to buy a new mower and had saved up the cash. When I went to buy the mower they asked me if I wanted to apply for credit and make small payments on the mower. I needed to up grade some of my other equipment so I decided to try even though I knew my credit was not in the greatest shape. When the application was denied they lost all interest in my purchase and walked away to help the next person. They never asked or even considered that I had cash to buy my mower. I turned away and went to Agpro for my New mower. At that time I gave them one star. Please read forward.Update..I recently went back for a couple of reasons. First, their price on Weed-be-gone Pro is the cheapest Ive found in Jacksonville. Ive even looked online and they always have the lowest price. Second they are still the closest shop to my side of town, Westside. I currently own a Scag and this shop doesnt carry a lot of my parts. But I will give them this, I went in there today to hope to fix a front wheel caster problem. Now they couldnt fix my problem because of my mowers make and model but...the manager remembered my name from a couple of years ago. We spoke about the older review and asked why I hadnt gone to him. I told him that I was put off from the salesman attitude and I walked out. He apologized for the way I was treated and just by him remembering me he made me a customer again. Thank you, I wish I would I could have purchased my mower from him. Maybe the next one.

I’ve done business with TFAT for the past 6 years, from purchasing quality brand equipment to just simple bags of mulch. I’ve always received 5-star customer service and exceptional “service after the sale” on all my power equipment. Roy (General Manager) and his team are experts in the business. I’ve been around business and industry long enough to know you don’t and can’t make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try or make things right for people. There are some who are just out to “get something for nothing” and that absolutely disgusts me to no end. No matter how long you are in business there is always someone out there lurking to be an opportunist and try and rip-off the honest, long-standing small businesses like this one. What a shame! But, thankfully there are those (the majority) who appreciate and support local establishments like this one who support their communities, First Responders, Military and most of all their employees and their families by being closed on Sundays so they can attend church or just spend quality time with them. Like many, I stand with Tools-For-A-Time...keep up the great work!

They had a sale going on and the prices were very decent.

I had a terrible experience. Took my mowers in for service and they called said it was ready. I get there and my mowers are broken with another issue and this happened 3x and they kept charging me. I never even rode my equipment off the lot. They said things can break my just sitting up. This place is a scam.

I am certainly not a regular customer by any stretch, nor am I affiliated with them in any way, but, every time I call, or go in (usually very low $$; eg, sting replacement, replacement part, rental, etc...), I have ALWAYS been treated like a valued customer. Further, I am not even in the industry (read weekend warrior), and they always take the time to indulge my questions, and, provide solutions or parts, that are usually cheaper than any where else Ive looked. I live in PVB, so its a bit of a haul there, but IMO, its absolutely worth it, as theyve very reasonable, and have stood behind everything Ive bought. I have never been up-sold, or treated with disregard. Also, love that they are hard working Americans, that love God and country!

Neg 5 star when the warranty on the mower is up will never go back or purchase anything else from what tops it off i spoke to the GM that just was trying to hurry up and get me out the store the mower was bought in march of ladt year and is in the shop alot very very unprofessional and by the way it is a $7000 mower tells me that theres recalls on it and lets me take it away instead of keeping it and fixing it
