This place is AMAZING! The Reuben I had was the best I’ve ever had in my life! They make their a thousand island dressing from scratch. Their breakfast tastes delicious and their pancakes melt in your mouth. You will not be disappointed if you ever go here, the staff is so friendly and personable. And Mason is the best!!! He will leave you laughing the whole time. If you want to try a new place or become a regular somewhere, this is the place!
My cousin was visiting from out of town and we stopped in for breakfast (first time for both of us). The atmosphere and service was incredible. Mason and Justin both made our experience wonderful. We both were very happy we chose to have breakfast here and plan on visiting again next time he’s in town!

The staff are incredibly nice, so accommodating, and delivered such friendly hospitality. We truly enjoyed our experience. The food is delicious!!! Mason is hilarious!! If youre looking to have an excellent breakfast, this is your place. The best French Toast in the world is served here. If you think you like French Toast, try theres and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The food, the service and the people are amazing. The cook knows his way around a kitchen. Really great little 50s style diner with great energy. The employees are always super friendly.I moved to Jacksonville from Cleveland a couple years ago and Ive been on the lookout for a good corned beef sandwich. A friend recommended this place and they didnt disappoint!My boyfriend really enjoyed his omelette, too.

This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in all of Jacksonville. The owners like to chat and get to know all their customers, very very reminiscent of the diners my parents would take me to when I was very young. Great food cooked to order, everything is hot fresh and delicious! Cant recommend this place highly enough!!
I really like the home town, or local restaurant. The big chain restaurants can never capture the special atmosphere. Friends having coffee, great conversation and fellowship. The staff know what you want and who you are. Breakfast was made to order and fresh. I ordered a veggie skillet, with over medium eggs, English muffin and a coffee $11.00. Service was great, staff friendly.
Mason is THE BOMB. Tomatoes tasted like tomatoes. Bacon was thick and tasty. My brother in law got the turkey sandwich pita hot and he loved it. I highly recommend it. GET OUT AND SUPPORT THIS SMALL BUSINESS.

First time in Florida, ever, and this Diner treated me as if I was family. The food was so good that it makes me want to move to Florida to have food that really whacks California diners out of the park. True southern dining, one of the best that money can buy. I am not one to write reviews. I only usually write them to warn you to stay away or to let you know its a MUST go to place. This is my first and last time ever going to Deerwood Diner. I thought it was going to be a small gem by reading the reviews. I ordered a patty melt (medium) and asked to upgrade my side to corn nuggets. The menu advertised cajun street corn nuggets which sounded amazing to me. But there was nothing cajun about them. They were over fried, hard as a rock, that came with what tasted like ranch dressing mixed with ketchup. No cajun at all. Super disappointed. I moved onto my patty melt and saw it was so little and over cooked. The burger only took up about half the bread, it was mostly cheese and burned onions (not even caramelized). The patty melt was almost as hard to bite into as the over fried bland corn nuggets. When I was handed my bill, I was taken back to see my total was $18.89. The patty melt was $10 and I asked to upgrade my side to corn nuggets and did expect an upcharge for a few dollars, but not $8!!! The menu lists the Cajun Street Corn Nuggets as an appetizer for $8 and I would have ordered that had Id know the upcharge was so high. At first I thought I was given the appetizer corn nuggets but if that was the case, then were was my side that came with my patty melt? As the menu states each burger comes with the choice of one side. Just stay away...
We found this wonderful place while looking for an American icon to celebrate our son-in-law’s special day. Today he is officially an American citizen. But, this deli and diner ROCKS. Great food, plenty of it, topped off coffee and the best server Razor and can’t forget Mason. Thanks for making this part of celebration one we alway remember.
We were in the Jacksonville area in a part of town we were not familiar with and needed to find a place for breakfast. Based on the reviews and the menu, we picked the Deerwood Diner. What a wonderful surprise! All of the food was delicious; the corned beef hash was the best I have ever tasted! Hash browns were yummy, and my wife’s vegetable omelet was outstanding. Unlike some diners, there was no excess grease in any of the food. Atmosphere was very pleasant-Justin Razer and Mason made us feel very welcomed and took great care of us. We got to meet Chef Dreauh and thanked her for the wonderful food she cooked with love for us.Now that we know about this gem of small town hospitality and delicious home cooked food, we will no doubt return regularly going forward.
Bums hang out in front of restaurant and harass children for talking to their ducks. Total wackos. Stay away.
By far the best experience at a restaurant/diner ever. Not only is the homestyle diner food IMMACULATE but the service and staff is beyond friendly and welcoming! it makes you not want to leave/immediately come back. Been wanting to try this place for weeks and so glad i finally did. Mason and Razor made the experience an 11/10. By far the funniest and nicest staff ever. Youre a lucky one if you get to hear ANY of Masons one liners, the stories are even better. Highly recommend this place for breakfast/lunch.P.s. get mason a stack of blueberry pancakes, on me.

The food at Deerwood was amazing and the service was impeccable. The French toast was to die for and is a must have. We will definitely visit Deerwood any time we are in the area.

I have been coming here for years with my grandparents. They like it, but I really never was a fan. Not until recently. The food was always sub par to me, personally. Lately, the food has been absolutely fantastic. Not sure if they are using better ingredients or if their staff finally learned how too cook well, but keep that up and I will be here more often. Complements to the chef.

9 dollars for scrambled eggs and some nasty looking and horrid tasting cornbread hash. I dont even know what the corn beef was, but it was some kind of gross hashbrowns mixed with the hash. Horrible mean that was way over priced. Will never eat at this place again

Very good food, had a rueban and a vanilla milkshake and fries. My friend had a Philly with fries and a Dr pepper float. The staff is extremely friendly can sometimes talk a little too much but no big deal, the younger girl and guy working here are very nice. So no issues with food or staff.Now the restaurant does look like it needs a good refurbishing and cleaning. Seats are tearing, the walls have some food stains and it is too cluttered with photos and nic nacs, needs some updating while also keeping the classic look. Also was watching a staff member unload vegetables into the storage bins out on a dining room table which I thought was strange.All in all for the food and service I recommend you atleast give this place a try.

This place is a joke. We walked in and no one spoke to us. A young man cleaned the table did not say anything to us about taking a seat. Sign said seat your self. So we sat down and waited almost 10 minutes and no one came over to give us a menu. We left and found another small diner to eat at. We were so hungry for breakfast because we just ran a half Marathon.
We have been coming here for years. Specifically Saturdays and Sundays for breakfast. We love coming in to see Mason. He can lift anyones spirits! He always makes time for a joke, a smile and a hug. We wouldnt want him to be any different. Now, if we could just get Miss Sally to smile once in a while.... And to at least greet us, as long time regulars.Amendment: Miss Sally smiled AND spoke to me!😄

Today we drove over to the diner . The as we walked to the door we noticed a new peice of paper stating there closed on monday.and the person in side walked up to the door and locks the door. Should of shown respect and talk to customers. We will not come back . Good day sir

Food was great, good prices. Chilli tastes homemade, biscuits and gravy was good as well. Pancakes were very good and they have options for mini pancakes if you don’t want the huge ones. Will definitely eat here again.

Came across this diner by accident, and ever since then, a year ago, this little diner has always been my go to for comfort food! They are ALL super sweet, and even though youre a complete stranger, they treat you as if theyve known you for years. I will always recommend here!

My wife and I retired and moved here 7 months ago. We came upon this cool 50s diner by chance. Reading some of these reviews, I feel that some may be comparing this diner to the big corporate diners. Weve never had a bad experience at the Deerwood Diner. The atmosphere is laid back and the food is is diner perfect.We recently had lunch there on a Wednesday and Ally (our favorite server) and Mason were working the dining area together. Dynamic Duo. Mason greeted some of the guests by name and seemed to be doing a little bit of everything while Ally saw to the orders. These two working together was exceptional.If youve not tried the Deerwood Diner, we recommend that you do. We also suggest having lunch there on a Wednesday when Ally and Mason are working. We know youll be amazed by the service AND the great food.Were not sure what Masons position is, and weve asked ourselves a time or two... Why isnt Mason a server? Great guest service skills Ally & Mason!!!We have become regulars you will too.

I have never had a bad experience here, it’s a “mom & pop” diner with great food at reasonable prices. Their food is good but the pancakes are probably the best I’ve had in Jacksonville. The corned beef hash also stands out. Worth checking out if you’re looking for good breakfast food.

This place is wonderful, trashy and home all rolled up. If youre the type that wants your food to look like the menu picture or you are picky this is not the ace for you. But if you want to be welcomed with open arms and a smile with food that tastes great then come on in and say hello to Sally, Gerry, Patrick and Mason to name a few of the fabulous folks that make you feel welcome.
Quaint and interestingWent in on Sunday at around 11:30. Was busy but not crazy. Waited about 3 minutes for a table. Waited 10 minutes before anyone came over with menu or acknowledged we were there. Gave our drink order. Received in about 5 minutes. No silverware yet. Told silverware was just being washed. Waited 5 minutes before we called over someone else for spoons to mix our coffee with.. Spoons brought in a few minutes, but still no other silverware. Gave our orders. Waited, waited, waited. Asked where was food was and was told soon. Asked for more decaf coffee and was told it was brewing. 10 minutes later still no coffee. Asked again was told still brewing. Waited another 5 minutes and asked again and was told Im going to make a fresh pot and get to you asap. Finally got some but it was obviously not decaf. Food finally arrived about an hour after ordered. Food was decent but not worth waiting an hour for. Glad I didnt order anything complicated or I might still be there. Kitchen needs a lot of help- wait time was unacceptable. Wait staff leaves a lot to be desired too. I had been here a few years ago and it was very good, was looking forward to returning. So disappointed this time.
