Glad I came here after being long overdue for an eye exam, the Dr. and staff were all very friendly and make you feel comfortable. Very price transparent and great selection of eye glasses to choose from. Office was spacious and clean which is an added bonus.

Office has a habit of over selling and then under delivering on that promise. Was told one pair of glasses would be ready in one week the other pair two weeks, contacts would be ordered and delivered to my home in two to three days. After calling for an update, I was told the lab was behind and both glasses would be an additional two weeks and the contacts order was not placed. While in the office for my appointment I overheard other patients being made similar promises; pair that with the receptionist on calls telling people the lab is behind and it paints a picture. Would prefer this company just be upfront and honest with expectations.

Absolutely an amazing experience from start to finish! With this being my first eye appointment, ever, I was a little nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. I had no issues in making the appointment. The appointment was handled with great care and they made sure to walk me through everything they were doing. I then was helped by all three fabulous women in picking out a new pair of glasses. They were very helpful, and honest in if it looked great or not, which I greatly appreciated! We found the perfect frames, and the glasses were ready much more quickly than expected! I absolutely love my new glasses, and I can’t believe I waited so long to get an appointment!

Went here for the first time and was very impressed! Really appreciated Dr. Shearer and his staff taking the time to chat and explain everything to me. Will be back.

Deerwood Family Eyecare is great! I have had nothing but great experiences at this office, you can tell the staff truly cares about their clients. I would recommend them for all your eye care needs, they have been absolutely wonderful!!

We initially were pleased with this office until I canceled my boyfriends order of glasses .This was the next day. He decided to get Lasik revision. The staff was rude and did not greet us moving forward. The doctor tried to talk my boyfriend out of getting the revision. I would not recommend this office due to the lack of professionalism and poor attitudes. I dont allow companies to take our money and then treat us poorly.

Felt at ease and treated well. Eye exam went well, then the dreaded part of deciding on glasses. They have several options and they walk you through them. consider your concerns and felt like they were taking care of the eye patient. Ill go back.

Terrible service. Dr was incredibly rude, wouldn’t let me choose which types of contacts I wanted with no valid reasoning other than he “thought it was gross”. I made another appointment and they for some reason had to cancel all appointments that afternoon. They never bothered to call me to offer to reschedule the appointment or even let me know that it was being cancelled. I would’ve driven across town having no idea if I hadn’t gotten a heads up from someone I know who had the same issue that day. There were maybe two nice employees that helped me out, the rest were just rude in general.

I always enjoy my visits with Dr. Shearer and his staff. They always provide professional and caring service and make me feel like family. I love them so much that I even made a cheese cake for them a couple months ago. No one wants to go to the doctors office for anything, but if you have to go, you may as well go to the best. 5 stars for Dr. Shearer and staff. Sincerely, Terence O. I am so excited that I found Deerwood Family Eyecare. Upon moving to Jacksonville I was not sure where to go for an eye exam. A friend recommended Deerwood. This is an amazing facility with very friendly staff. They truly care about the patient as a whole. They took the time to walk me through all of the information. I highly recommend this place to any and all in the Jacksonville area.

After waking up with vision loss in my left eye, Deerwood Family Eyecare accommodated a last minute appointment right before a long holiday weekend. They did a thorough examination to rule out anything serious and treated my eye. The staff there were all friendly and knowledgable. Dr. Shearer was so nice and walked me through all of the scans and images, and he made sure I understood what he was seeing. They were even wonderful with my 10 month old baby girl. The staff helped to entertain her while they checked my eyes, and Steven even gave her a toy to take home (which she loves!) They were even accommodating with my expensive bill (due to the serious testing) and gave me sample drops to save me money. They went above and beyond. I would highly recommend Dr. Shearer and his amazing staff.

I recently moved to Florida from Virginia and needed a new doctor. I called around to the nearest place and was surprised when I could be seen that day. I now know why, After a 30 wait, with no apologie or explanation the doctor came in and tried to up sale glasses, even trying to use scare tactics! I ended up with practically the same contact lens prescription I had. I paid over twice the amount that I usually do, they had the nerve to say you get what you pay for and I am getting the same I always had. The staff was really nice ladies.

They make you feel comfortable and dont hurt your bank account. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. You cant go wrong by choosing Deerwood Family Eyecare.

Ryan is every personable and knowledgeable which is a great combination. I have found a new eyecare center for my family!!!

If there was an option to give NO stars I would. This review is based off of an employees mistreatment while only being there a short period of time. Doctors are supposed to teach right? Not belittle & flat you treat someone who is learning STUPID. The doctor and his staff only care about the money that comes in. All reviews are from family & staff.. they probably delete the bad ones. Take your money to a place with heart for helping people, instead of this greedy place.

I am writing this review on behalf of my aunt Beatriz Crossman since she doesnt have gmail account. What a poor service from Misty . She didnt advise me professionally or gave another alternatives to choose my glasses based on my insurance coverage. The ones that I got based on her advise were very poor quality they broke less than a month since the lens were too heavy and out of the frame. She was just limited on put in the formula right not on providing the best option for me, or my needs. Horrible experience and customer service. Now I am dealing back with having glasses repaired which if I wouldnt got them from Dollar tree store would have lasted longer.Customer name: Beatriz Crossman.

We walked into the office after going to a dental appointment and the staff greeted us and genuinely seemed to care. They helped with the paperwork and they got us into the back almost immediately. The staff was kind and they held real conversations. Ive been going here for the last two years and well be going back next year as well.

My wife and I have been going to Dr Shearer for almost all of the sixteen years that weve lived in Jacksonville, and wouldnt consider going to anyone else. The doctor, and his entire staff, make every visit a great experience.

First let me say just AWSOME! I traveled to Jacksonville from Baton Rouge a week ago to watch my oldest daughter perform in the USATF Jr Olympics. While in Jacksonville I decided to enjoy the sights while wearing my Cazal 856 sunglasses. At some point I noticed that the Cazal logo came off the left arm of the glasses, so I began to panic, Im thinking where am I going to get these fixed? So I went on Cazasl website and sent an e-mail explaining what happened, 2 weeks later Cazal has yet to respond to my e-mail! So I googled Cazal retailers in Jacksonville and Deerwood Optical came up. Upon entering the store I was genuinely greeted not the kind of fake hello just to get you to purchase something but EVERYONE in the store was genuinely nice. Im an Professional African American male and since I was in town for the Jr Olympics I was really dressed down, tee-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes and the staff never raised an eyebrow nor did they watch me as I walked around the store. Upon explaining my disaster with my sunglasses the young lady (I hate I forgot her name) that assisted me looked at the glasses and said Give one minute and Im going to call Cazal, and that she did! Not once did she say You didnt purchase these from our store so there is nothing we can do! She didnt even say You need to contact Cazal. After speaking with Cazal she said Theyll be sending the logo sticker in a week, just leaving the glasses and just pay for the shipping. In my mind I was willing to pay whatever to repair my $500.00 sunglasses, $20.00 for shipping and thats it? Got my glasses back yesterday and to my surprise I had an additional Cazal logo sticker included, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This business is a class act and their collection of Cazals is the best Ive ever seen from Cazals website to the many sunglass boutiques that Ive visited from NY to New Orleans!
