Got some awesome comics for my beginners into the comic world. Got booster packs at a decent price. Great customer service, despite having a good crowd on new comic day.

One of the more welcoming comic shops Ive been to. The staff treat you the same whether youve been into comics for 20 years or 2 months. They have a larger trade selection than back issues, which I personally dont mind. They also have a nice indie section. I would definitely recommend!
Chock full of goodies, nerd heaven with comics, board games, RPG’s (the paper kind, not the explosive kind), some manga, and other accoutrement such as dice and and accompanying soft carriers. Think of the montage where soldiers are slapping mags in the weapons, strapping knives to their boots, layering thick black paint in their faces... except here you have the click and clack of dice laden bags tied to the belt, ruffling pages of the DMs guide, and the slipping sound of awesome comics sliding into their protective covers. Yah this is the place.

The staff seemed irritated to have customers browsing and were short with us when we asked questions. On the plus side, the amount of manga old and new available here way impressive and the prices were fair.

Very chill atmosphere; very chill employees (well Ive only ever met one but hes got enough chill vibe in him to assume the other employees there are too - nod to the guy with the long silver fox hair). Would recommend to anyone into comics and/or MTG cards.
Alakazam Comics is always a treat. Been doing business with them for at least 15 years. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I couldnt ask for better partners in all things comics!
This is my fave local comic shop. I mostly collect trade paperbacks; they have a pretty god selection and whatever they dont have they offer to order for you. However, my favorite part of the shop is way in the back. Alakazam has the bighest pre-owned trade paper back section in OC. Cant beat the feelig of hunting down little known treasures. They also have a section with discounted hardbacks at 50% their jacket price. They folks in there are kind of quiet but always helpful, and the store is always clean and organized. They also take great care about Covid-19 precautions so it feels safe and at ease while shopping there. Definitely recommend it. 👌🏼
Nice small store. Great selection of Comics, decent amount of Magic the Gathering and other games including Dungeons and Dragons. Marvel & DC heros and villains gift ideas.

A nice little store with a decent selection of books and cards.One of the main gentlemen that works at the front is a bit smug with an attitude that suggests he resides in the higher echelon of nerd culture and ware. The bearded man offered me $3 dollars store credit for 4 hardcover comic books that were in phenomenal condition and $1 for a few rare foil cards. I understand that a small place needs to make a profit and cant shell out eBay prices for every person that walks into the store, but do not insult me with those prices especially when I just want store credit.I probably wont be returning to the store anymore due to the poor exchange rates, which is shame because the place is nice and the owner is a really nice guy.

Love the place! The newest and the most popular editions of every comic is well organized, and the backroom is top to bottom full of treasures of comics with low prices.The employee named Ryan was amazing and super helpful. I was not able to find the specific issue I was looking for, but I definitely left with a big smile on my face.

If youre into gaming, D&D, Magic so forth, its 5 stars... but thats not my deal, so I have to kind of balance it with being a little cramped, but the fact it exists where it does and the staff are 5 stars, but I am trying to be honest in my critique... and overall for me its 4 and 1/3 stars, but a very cool shop - like I said...
Went the other day with my sister, she wanted to get into comics. This place was a great place to go. They had a good variety of new and old comics and the service was amazing, definitely coming back again.
They ordered exactly what I wanted and it got there in good timing. Super knowledgeable and kind. 10/10 would go again.
Amazing selection! This place is awesome with 3 separate sections all full to the brim with new and old comics. Boxes and boxes of comics to dig through with a huge variety from the big ones (DC/Marvel) to the indies (Image/Dark Horse) and tons of other brands and series. Sandman, Superman, X-Men, Thundercats. I couldnt get through it all in one visit.Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to add to their collection!
The never ending store!Happened to find this comic book store by pure accident. But it was a treat to explore, between the selection of comics, action figures, and rpg gaming supplies it made for a fun visit.The store has three rooms to search through, the back room had discount comics and collections.There were a lot of interesting items tucked away to find.If Im ever in the area again, I would definitely stop by.

These guys are great. We left the area and they still order comics for us and mail them out! Places like Alakazam are few and far between. A rare gem with fun popular culture items and classic comics. And great service!
Employees, barely worthy of that titles, are rude and appear burdened when asked for any kind of customer service.
We started coming to this place about a month ago and the staff is always helpful and funny. We tend to spend a pretty penny when we come here for our monthly Magic the Gathering card packs but I think that just ranks us up in the customer favorites XD this place is great to get lost in games, meet like-minded nerds and geeks, and get some pretty great cards from the booster packs!
Best comic book store this side of the Mississippi. Your friendly neighborhood comic book store clerk, Ryan, is so knowledgeable about anything and everything there. You will always walk away with something you will enjoy. The place seems small up front but has a huge rear with tons of comics in the storage area. Additionally, Ryan is good at telling a good story. Even if he hasnt read everything there, he knows all about the characters, authors, etc. to hold a great comic conversation. Be careful, dont try to outsmart him, you might not work 😀 this store brings back good memories from when it was at the UTC by UCI. Oh the good ol days. Enjoy this store. Enjoy the eats in the same shopping center. What a great location!
A very small comic shop, but they upkeep the place very well. Due to size restrictions in stock, Id recommend pre-ordering items you want, since theyre not likely going to be able to get everything released. But the workers at the shop are very helpful and their pull-list system is easy to work with. Its also nicely located near the UCI campus for quick jaunts during a lunch break to pick up weekly releases.

Atmosphere is just like a comic book shop should be, the dude who was working the day I went was friendly and greeted me when I walked in.I was trying to buy some MTG singles, they have a good amount of singles folders. It was Wednesday when I went in which means new comics came in so he was busy.He was unloading some books from a box on a table in front of the MTG folders of singles. When I asked to see the singles folders, the dude made the box an excuse not to be able to reach the all the folders.He could have easily reached over the comich book box and got them, I got the feeling he didn want to bothered when he was doing the comic book pull lists.The other thing I didnt like was the prices!! The store boosters were way expensive, over $5.00 some more than $8.00. And tye pricing on their singles was a bit high too, even on damaged cards or hp cards.This is why I gave them 4 outta 5
Great Comic shop! The guy who usually works there is gives great information. Easy to talk to. The new place on main st is waaay better than the old one. More space to read and not feel rushed when a lot of people came in.

When its new comic book day they dont allow everything to be available to the customers (MTG singles, etc). They falsely advertised price on items (cards marked 25 cents then they charge internet value of $1+, etc). They shut down for a day due to a power outage. Sometimes they open later than whats posted if they have their weekly events but may not have event out of nowhere so its schedule is inconsistent. Parking sucks (spots are narrow and not enough spots close by) But its a nice store with a lot of product, tcg singles, nice employees on the most part, they let you bring food in, the have talked areas in the back for gaming.
Marco is super friendly and hosts fun and well-organized Friday night MTG booster drafts and pre-release sealed and 2HG tournaments. Love the play mats he gives out at special events, which are well-attended and usually have pre-registration opportunities on his Facebook page. * Check store hours before stopping by, as he opens a bit later than many retail stores.
A great comic book shop. They care about the customer and do their best to provide the best experience possible. Its a small shop but they do a great job with the amount of space they have.

When my LGS closed, I was worried that I wouldnt find another place to play. But then I found Alakazam. Friendly and courteous. Has comics, tcgs, boardgames and other nerdy types of things. Will be coming back for a long time.

This is the go-to place for fun and entertainment! If you enjoy playing anytype of card game, they have it here! Its welcoming to all ages, I frequently bring my son with me and we have a great time playing cards. The staff and clientel are all freindly and welcoming.
