The worst experience Ive ever had with a shop!! Dont make the same mistake I did in trusting them with my vehicle as they are not honest at all. They are clearly only in it for the money and dont care who they screw over.Charged me over $2000 to replace my heater core that didnt need to be replaced. Said that my car would be done on a Friday. I had to call them myself on Monday to find out what was going on. They gave me my car back without the heat working as if I wouldnt notice. I had to take it in two more times for them to realize that it was a $23 dollar part that needed to be replaced.Only now my heater core is leaking and my air conditioner is barely working. It worked just fine before I brought it to them.Sooooooo disappointed with the service I received. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone for even an oil change.

No love. Spent 4400 on an engine swap. You would think that for that much you might get some loyalty. Something like “Thanks for your business, we did a full inspection and noticed your windshield washer doesn’t work. We fixed it, for you” White Dog Auto doesn’t care, so I will be bringing my business elsewhere.Seriously, I could have bought another used car for 4400. I’m very dissatisfied with the service. There are other mechanics who would appreciate my business. Please consider other services before coming here. You’ll pay top dollar for mediocre work.

This is The kind of place where you never have to worry about getting screwed over or sold things you dont need, and you never have to worry about the quality of the service. They recharged the AC in my Passat a couple years ago and it still blows ice cold, and recently they did timing chains on my other car and had it done that same day. Great people to work with

Thank you for quick honest service on our 2006 Saab 9-5 Sportcombi (A car that tows 3,500lb ;) ). I have been convinced after a few service trips to Whitedog over the past couple of years that they are Honest and High-Quality. When I was new in town, I had to find a new mechanic. At first they were great, then one time I feel that there was a miscommunication and felt I was being charged for something that served no purpose since we didnt mention it at all. While the dollar amount wasnt even that high, I hold principles like that high on my morality list. After that experience, I have chalked it up to a simple miscommunication as they did everything they could to provide us with great, ethical, high quality repair services and made that situation right. They continue to be great and good at their jobs every time.Thank you for being knowledgeable about Import Automobiles, you have earned my business for as long as I live in this area for many more years.

Been looking for a good independent shop in the IC area. Brought my car there after noticing some oil drips on the ground, thought it was going to be an issue much worse as BMWs are notorious for leaks. Honest place that said it was only a minor $100 fix. Brought it back as the issue was not completely resolved and fixed it for no cost.

On a recent drive from Phoenix to Boston for a new job, I was planning on stopping in my hometown of Iowa City to catch up with family for a few days. My Volvo XC90s check engine light came on a bit outside of Iowa City, and the Cedar Rapids Volvo-specific garage I first stopped at was entirely unhelpful. Since I am originally from Iowa City, I called around to a few friends who vouched for White Dog. So, I called White Dog and they were able to squeeze me in at a moments notice, working around my timeline for leaving for Boston to be on time for my new job. They diagnosed the issue, ordered the necessary part and had it fixed within two days for a reasonable price, just in time for me to drive on to Boston as scheduled. I was initially hesitant to go to a garage that didnt exclusively specialize in Volvos, but the techs there were very competent, professional and timely. Thanks so much for your great work!

Friendly staff, great customer service and detail oriented. They offer key drop off and shuttle to/from wherever you need to go. Whitedog staff cares about their customers and are not pushy about recommending other preventative services. They are very knowledgeable and I would recommend them to my friends and family.

White Dog was able to diagnose my car and fix it in a timely manner. Kevin was generally patient and non condescending when speaking to me.I was very weary and cynical of getting ripped off and lied to after an awful, down right unethical experience at European Motors in Cedar Rapids.White Dog gave me my wings back and as yet my car is driving great. I would recommend this company to my female friends that are scared of getting taken advantage of.

Love taking my car here. They are so transparent with you and never really try and push you into getting a service done. They are right to the point people and I really appreciate it. They have a nice little waiting area and a very convenient shuttle service. Pricing is okay, but then again I have not gone to a lot of places so I cannot compare. Will not go anywhere else!

It is like having a family member care for my automobile pet, with the actual expertise needed to keep my car healthy, safe and running in this cold. Ive taken various vehicles to White Dog for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and knows their stuff! Above all, they are honest. Theyll let you know what needs to be done now and what can wait. The only downside is that they are so good theyre busy all the time! A little wait is a small price to pay for the best service in town, bar none.

Staff is very nice & helpful.Their prices are competitive & they take the time to explain any costs you may have questions about.They are honest & will help you put a game plan together in regards to urgency & importance.Only downside is their location & demand.When I have a scheduled appointment I have to plan on NOT having my car for at least 1-2 days.Location is a little inconvenient (east side of Iowa City)Wish they would expand to other areas but they dont want to compromise their quality work by hiring mechanics & staff members that may not be up to their standard & caliber (which I understand & I respect)

I have been to White Dog several times over the past 5 years with my Audi and Subaru. They have always been upfront regarding wait times, provide price estimates on all repairs, and take time to explain necessary vs recommended repairs when asked for details.When your car breaks down, and you have to get it fixed, its never as cheap as you expect. Thats real life though, and the folks at white dog help you get through these speed bumps with relatively little stress. They are down to earth, they treat their customers fairly, and they are consistent with their repair quality.Its a pleasant experience when I have to come to white dog for an oil change, tire rotation, or the occasional major repair. I trust these folks and prefer them to the dealership. They also welcome visits from my dog which is a huge plus, she enjoys the free water and dog treats.

Whitedog worked on my 04 Range Rover after being turned down by every other mechanic in SE Iowa. They are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, affordable and timely on repairs. I will not waste my time looking anywhere else for repair work, in the future, on import vehicles. Keep up the good work guys and gals. Whitedog is an extremely professional shop that strives to be friendly and helpful for their customers. I found out about them when I bought my 2003 Audi Allroad. I did not know what I was getting myself into as that car has many unusual problems. I am from Muscatine and there are no shops here that would/could work on the Audi. Thankfully Whitedog was able to help me fix and maintain the car. They were able to tell me what was going on with the car, unlike other shops I had taken it to. They kept the car running until its untimely demise at the end of this last year. Unfortunately, the car got totaled and I have moved on to a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. I will continue to take my car to Whitedog because of how helpful they are. I am very impressed by the detailed reports they give on both quotes and receipts. I would recommend this shop to anyone that has a foreign car.

Cant recommend these guys highly enough. Ive brought several different vehicles here for a number of years, and in every case I was thrilled with the results. In one instance, I brought in a vehicle that another shop had said needed $800 of repair - only to have Kevin and the Whitedog crew tell me that the repair wasnt needed at all (and sure enough, it has never once been an issue).This is what you always hope you find in an auto repair shop - integrity and lots of technical skill, all under the same roof. Highly recommended.

Great help finding a new used car, very happy with vehicle and service

I have several Saabs, recently I took one in for a Key error. They ran some tests and said it would be $1200.00 to fix it. Gave the ok on it and awaited it to be done. I got a call the next day it needed a $500.00 part to complete the repair. I gave the ok on it. Picked it up and drove it for the weekend. Went to drive it a few days later and same key issue? Towed it in a second time and it cost another $200.00 but its fixed.. My thought is that maybe it did not need the $1700.00 repair and only needed the $200.00 repair. A couple weeks later we had the same code on the other car. Towed it in, they ran diag and said it needs the same repairs as the 1st one. I was able to start it and drive home, the bill for diag was $200.00 got home, could not start it after thst. I replaced the parts they recomend at home. I did some research and found a shop in Cedar Rapids that has a tech that specializes in Saabs. So I had it towed in there. After a very short diag he asked me about what the other shops diag was. He had found a wire at the key that was broken in the harness. Fixed it and its all good now. Reprogramming and repair under $200.00... Needless to say I have found my new go to shop in Cedar Rapids. I cant trust the repair work at Whitedog, sorry guys. Thats the 3rd car I have brought you that was not quite right. I really wanted to like this shop. The people are friendly, seem caring and knowledgeable. But, If you can not trust their tech why continue to go.

I took my Jetta here on a recommendation of a friend and got the actuator for the climate control fixed. Evan is very knowledgeable of all foreign cars, and is really fair in his pricing and service. Kevin helped me out over the phone, and everything was just as expected - in fact they replaced some interior panels that I had removed when I was looking into the problem. Will return again in the future!

I got my Range Rover Evoque serviced several times here. Very friendly place. And they give free service to small issues such as pumping air to tired and exchange coolant. Very decent service and warm your heart. Recommend!

Terrible Experience!!! I brought my wifes Subaru Tribeca in for a routine oil change and look over. This place came highly recommended, but it turns out one of the techs knew me from my high school days and didnt like me. So he took it out on my wifes car, by unhooking the hood release after he was done with the oil change. We couldnt open the hood the next day to check the oil. When I called Whitedog they said bring it in and they would fix it. The next day the wife drove all the way there from Cedar Rapids to be told she would be charged $120 for them to fix the problem, they created. She said no. We drove the car to another mechanic in North Liberty. When he looked at it, he could tell that, YES, somebody had pulled the pin out of the hood release. I called and spoke to the owner he denied any wrong doing and gave excuses for his tech. We will never go back!!!!

They were able to diagnose my cars issues quickly, even without an appointment. Everyone was very friendly, and Ill be back next time I need help!

Watch them. After being a satisfied customer for many years I got badly overcharged this time around. Not only that, the staff was rude and made me wait 2 hours. I had to finally ask when my car would be done and found out the car had been ready for at least a half hour. No apologies were forth coming...After fairly good service for many years I am left wondering what happened. Later...took my car to another, out of town shop and found out that the nearly $400 of the $800 in White Dog recommended repairs are not needed. Also my brake pads have 4mm left on them not the 2 mm White Dog reported.

Very friendly and they are great at customer service. Example: We had some work done the other day on my wifes 05 Mini Cooper, One of the guys told me he estimated with everything (include tax, labor, and etc..) it would be $750. I went in the next day and went to pay for it and the gave me a bill for $790. I was a little confused at first. Talked to the guy, they worked with me and took it down to what i was quoted and apologized for the mistake.

Just moved here from Miami, FL where there are expensive specialty shops for my kind of car. So naturally, when I came up here I was hesitant to take my baby to the local small shop.These guys are PROFESSIONALS, make no mistake about it.I could not be more impressed with the quality of the work as well as the service.Feels great to have a reliable place to take care of my 2006 WRX STI!Definitely coming back here.

You know how hard it is to find some one that you can trust to od a job that is worth doing well? Justin and his team at White Dog answer that question, par excllence. If they were to advertise their services, it only need to be one word - TRUST. They kept me informed of their progress and discovery of the project of replacing my car engine. I never give any vendor a 100% rating because there should always be room for improvement. Although, I would say Whtie Dog is close to perfect.

Wow! What a wonderful experience at Whitedog! My day began on a sour note with my 9 year-old Volvo not turning over and stuck in the garage. I telephoned White Dog, feeling anxious and late for an appointment, and Alec calmly diagnosed the situation. My anti-theft ignition was the problem!Luckily for me, the car started later in the day, and Alec advised a visit to White Dog to replace the faulty ignition piece - in less than 1/2 hour after arriving, the work was done and my car is now back to good order. All with a smile.Thanks Whitedog!!!

I have family in Iowa City and recently had to have my sisters 1.8L Turbo Passat wagon repaired and driven 800+ miles back to Atlanta, GA. My sister tried numerous times, spent big dollars and got ripped-off at other local dealerships in her attempts to get the vehicle repaired.I contacted White Dog and spoke long distance with Evan and Kevin, explained the entire situation, including my desire to safely drive the vehicle back to Atlanta with confidence. They immediately diagnosed the issues, put it those numerous driving condition tests and fixed the problems for 1/3 of what other local shops would have.I drove the vehicle straight from Iowa City to Atlanta in 12hrs. No problem(s), period. I placed my trust in White Dog and they delivered. I would not rely on or trust another area repair shop-dealership with my personal safety. I wish I had the same reliable service here in ATL. I would like to thank you to the entire staff for getting me home as promised
