Recently got new tires and an alignment at their shop. Only took them a few days to get the tires in. Dropped my car off in the morning and it was ready to pick up at the end of the day. Smooth driving for me now, no more vibration. The quote they gave me included all the taxes and fees, no price tricks, and they didn’t try and sell any extra un-needed services. Honest people, would recommend.

I have only great things to say about Accurate Automotive and their team. Years ago, we bought a gift certificate for an oil change that they had generously donated to a silent auction. From that moment on, weve been loyal. They are always available for oil changes, basic repairs, and most important for our family - details. I had a crisis that included spilled tequila in my brand new minivan and they worked their magic, you couldnt even ever smell the spilled margarita again. I took my car only to Accurate Automotive for the past 4 years.The first time I went, my brakes had been squealing. I read up a bit and was sure my brake pads needed replaced. I stopped in there and told them as such. I said sure they could diagnose, but go ahead and replace them.BUT, they didnt replace them! Instead they said the pads were fine, they just needed to be cleaned a bit - so they did that instead. It saved me a bunch of money that I wouldnt have blinked twice at spending. Going here, you never once have to wonder if theyre doing the right thing - they are, and they will try and save you money while theyre at it.Every experience I had there is top notch. They even have a clean waiting area to sit in. Ive now moved to a few states away, and wish I had them near me still.

Courteous, quick, honest. Little pricey but worth it if you can afford it. $70 for a tire patch and oil change, only took an hour.

I know nothing about cars and I am always leery about going to automotive places. A good friend recommended me to Accurate and I was very pleased with the results. Took care of my wifes car and told me they would take care of my needs in the future. Will use these guys forever in the future and will wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in the future.

Daughter lives in iowa city and we needed her spark plugs and wires replaced. Called them and asked about pricing. Was given a price range based on it being a mini van and the difficulty in getting to the back plugs. When they called to let me know the work was done they explained that it took less time than they quoted so my bill was less than the low end of the estimate. Very pleased to find an honest business that provides good work. I highly recommend this shop

I just popped by to have them take a look at my power steering today because I had been told that I needed to replace it....well they looked it over and within 15 minutes they had it back out front and said that their was a bolt missing and the belt needed to be tightened...they fixed both and sent me on my way for FREE!!! Efficient, hardworking, and honest. 3 words that can be hard to place on a mechanic shop.... thank you!!

Very professional and friendly place. I was in a pickle because I couldnt afford the full repair procedure, and this company worked with me to find alternatives in the forms of used parts and more specific targets in repair.This saved me about $200, and they made it very clear to me the decision I was making was short-term until I could afford to get the less-pressing issues fixed. Only took a star off for some communication issues, but this place is great; One of the best.

I’m so happy I found this place!I just moved my daughter from Florida to work at University of Iowa. I had a 2002 xterra I sent her with thinking it would be a good choice considering the snow. Before I left I fixed a valve cover leak and replaced the a/c compressor, expansion valve, hoses, evaporator and the a/c belt.I should have replaced the power steering belt but figured it would be ok. On the way, the alternator belt started slipping. I didn’t bring any tools so when I got to Iowa city I considered buying tools at harbor freight and taking care of the belt.But I was flying home and would be stuck with the tools. So I saw this place right as I was about to go into harbor freight and decided to give it a shot and got a price for them to do the work.The best move I made the whole trip. Not only were they super friendly and helpful, but they got me in right away.The best part; THE FINAL PRICE WAS LESS THAN THEY QUOTED!An honest mechanic is almost a unicorn these days! I didn’t know them from Adam and the treated me fairly. If you have car trouble, this is the place to go.Thank you guys! You are amazing!

Very friendly staff and very quick, however they might add more stuff to bill if youre not careful. They added an oil change to my boyfriends bill without his consent and without trying to contact him about it.

Weve always received prompt, courteous service each time weve needed their services. Just recently, I was stranded in Iowa City when my starter went out - they had me back on the road and on my way back to northern Iowa before the end of the day. Highly recommend!

I called on a Thursday morning about battery trouble and possibly more to see if they could get us in for the afternoon and they were prompt and courteous on the phone. They were able to check our car and repair everything by the next morning on Friday. Our problem ended up being the alternator, which they replaced, and they were also able to fix some issues we had with our battery. The cost wasnt terrible and they did quote us on a price before starting any work. We would definitely trust Accurate Automotive with our vehicle again.

I lived in Iowa City for 4 years and always took my car to Accurate Automotive when it needed to get fixed. I always felt that the people working there were honest about what was going on with my car and did a great job of fixing it. I have an older car, 1999 Bonneville with over 240,000 miles on it and nothing they fixed every needed to be addressed again. Even after I moved out of state, I called Accurate Automotive and asked them a question about what another place told me about my car and they helped me find a reputable shop to take my car to. I highly recommend Accurate Automotive, they are honest and do great work.

I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT (Turbo). I had previously replaced the spark plugs (myself and a friend) and the week before had four exhaust leaks fixed at a muffler shop. (They were also excellent by the way!)It developed a ticking sound suddenly. I thought maybe a manifold exhaust leak. Accurate Automotive diagnosed it as a loose spark plug. In less than 30 minutes they had checked all four and one was very loose. I got it back and it runs beautiful!They did everything right possible - good diagnoses, quick, and price was perfect.Anyone that knows about spark plugs on a 2.5 turbo Subaru knows how much of a pain that is.

Accurate Automotive for the company name doesnt do justice. It should more like Excellent Automotive or Exceptional Customer Service Automotive or We Care Automotive! Now why do I say this? Well, my daughter goes to college in Iowa City and has had a constant issue with the car dying. Shes jumped the car several times and recently had the battery checked. This last time it wouldnt jump. Since I dont live near the I called my motor club and found she wasnt on the account for drivers. I added her, but it takes a day or 2 to process through. They said to use my name to arrange a tow. I need to find a place to tow to so searched the internet. Accurate Automotive had the highest ratings on Google and Yelp, so I called them to see if they could take the car. I talked to Jason. He said dont get it towed. He would go to the car and try to start it first, just in case so not to spend money on a tow. He went there, started the car, and my daughter drove it to the shop. They did testing on the car and all and it turned out to be the battery. He asked if we had a warrenty on the bad battery, I put all the warrenty papers, etc. in the glove compartment, but couldnt remember if this had one. He searched the glove compartment, going through the documents but didnt find. He said theres an Autozone across the street if we want to get there, always buy from there, or they can put in. I asked him to put their Interstate battery in. Cost for all this? Just the price of the battery! Unbelievable! I asked how much more do I owe, and he said just the price of the battery. Now that IS treating the customer right!!! Went above and beyond and charged just for the battery! Great job Jason and Accurate Automotive!!!!!!!!

My daughter goes to University of Iowa they have had her Jeep in there several times for issues and have done an excellent job very reasonable easy to work with and then extremely honest in and out quick they were able to get her Jeep repaired with the crankshaft position sensor so she could come home for Thanksgiving they did it last minute Ive always been very happy with their work, and I want to stress this again their honesty

Easily the best mechanic experience I have ever had. Everyone I talked to was very friendly, knowledgeable, and proactive in solving the problem. A special shout out to Jason, my older (95) car had some break issues, and it could have been a lot of things. He was incredibly thorough in explaining things to me, and the options I could choose and up front about the pricing, which turned out to be exactly correct. I randomly went there due to googling mechanic near Iowa City, and if you are reading this and in the same boat, I 100% recommend going there. Great, great experience. They have earned themselves a loyal customer going forward.

I visited Accurate Automotive on 7/1/2015 for an auto pre-purchase inspection. They totally deserve a 5-Star rating. The mechanics here were very professional, courteous, and mostly know that . For a very affordable price, they gave a very thorough and detail inspection. The car I was about to purchase from a big dealer around the corner turned out to be a potential lemon. They saved me so much money and headache in the future.

I called on a Wednesday and they were able to schedule me that same day, which was great! On top of that they ended up tightening my timing belt for free which was totally unexpected but its always wonderful to know that a business is watching out for its customers.

I went here to get a pre-purchase car inspection.The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. The check was really thorough and they gave a really detailed description of the parts that require immediate attention. They explained everything is detail as well. I never write reviews, but I had to after going here. I had my car go in for an inspection after hearing a weird noise while driving. They checked it out and found nothing wrong. They didnt charge me. Awesome guys. I will definitely be going here in the future! I should mention that a lot of car places would try and fix the car by adding things to it or replacing things that dont need replacing, and they specifically said they dont do that.

I was passing through Iowa City on 6/13. My vehicle was sputtering and failing on 218. I stopped into Accurate Automotive. Within 3 hours they had me back on the road. They could have charged me anything they wanted but they were fair and gave me priority so I could back on the road. I really appreciate what Brad and his team did for me.

I brought my car in to have the brakes looked at, and during their routine inspection they found that something was wrong with my clutch. It lead to them having to order a new replacement part for my clutch (without which I couldnt drive), which was a little expensive on my tight student budget. However, the guy who I think is the owner overheard what was going on, and had my car lifted, and literally tried everything he could to get it in driving condition. Even though he told me warned me that it should be replaced soon, he was able to at least get it running for the time being. So, I had no work done so I dont want to rate them a 5, but the next time I bring a car in for service I will definitely bring it here, because you can tell they care about the customer and arent just out to get you like a lot of mechanics. Would recommend!!

One of their mechanics, I think his name was Brad, actually stopped by my house south of Iowa City during his lunch break to look at a problem I was having with my 93 Mercury. He diagnosed the problem and they had it repaired the next week. Who makes house calls anymore? Accurate Automotive does. Kudos.

Not the best experience. I asked them to check my car for possible transmission issues. I told them about the situation and they told me its not a transmission issue. One week later my transmission was messed up. I dont find them knowledgeable, I wanted to try someone different and the reviews were mostly good. However, from personal experience with them, they arent that experienced. Even after finding the transmission issue after my car wouldnt go on drive, I towed it to them since they were the closest mechanic and their response was that the transmission is bad and they can fix some sensors for $600 but theres no guarantee and then they were going to order the parts just in case. So even after I towed the car back, they are still not sure. They arent accurate or experienced. I wouldnt trust them with anything serious with my car.

I had a break down while traveling to a wedding. They got me in that day and had me back out and on the road that afternoon. Ive gone 2,500 miles since the repair work with no problems.

I walked in with an issue with my charging system. The problem was such that I was afraid to turn the car off for fear that I wouldnt be able to start it again. The gentleman working the counter took the time to talk with me about what my ideas about the origin of the problem. We came up with a plan for diagnosis and fixing the issue together; Ive never had a mechanic shop treat so well! Ill definitely be back.

They are good mechanical and if they make quick work but the parts you sell 150% of the original valve that in not honest.

Very disappointed with my last visit. I brought my car in asking to get rough idling checked out and was told that some spark plugs and cables needed to be replaced along with a hose. I gave them the ok and went to pick up my car the next day. When I got to the shop there was no one at the desk and I waited in the lobby for about 20 minutes before I decided to call and let them know I was there. I paid and drove home and my car was having the exact same problems as when I dropped it off. I called the shop and asked if they could look at it again, then was told that my engines timing was off and I would need a new one. This was the first time they mentioned anything about my engine having issues. So I basically paid $500 for nothing. Will not be going back.

Came on a suggestion from a friend that said his repair bill went from 500 at another location to $80 when it was more accurately diagnosed at Accurate Automotive.I called when my 96 ford explorer started leaking coolant and I had a 100+ mile trip in 3 days. He said he was super busy and wouldnt be able to handle it that day....I asked about anywhere reputable I should go to....he said, well, come on down...Ill diagnose it for you and give you a quote on what I charge....you can leave it here and if I can do it in time, I will. Or you can take it anywhoere and at least know what a fair price range is to compare withHe educated me on the problem (bad water pump), gave me a replacement cost for him to do it that was almost half of the quote when I went right around the corner.Finally, after hearing him state that it was a quick job and not too hard on my type of vehicle....i asked how hard it was to do myself....he said it was a realistic repair to do on my vehicle on my own if I was feeling confident and could folllow Youtube directions really closely. He printed out the tools I would need to rent to get to the water pump, educated me for a good 15 minutes on the process, and even offered to lend me a clutch fan removal tool if autozone didnt have it.The guy gave me a huge chunk of his time and didnt ask for a penny. I fixed my water pump for 70 bucks after coolant, parts, and supplies and 2hrs of work (i was slow and careful as i did stuff).Im a customer for the rest of my time in IC for sure. Accurate automotive is awesome...saved me several hundred already!

Im from out of town when my husbands car starting making a noise being a female by myself and couldnt get in touch with my husband i was very upset and went somewhere that couldnt help me i was reffered to jason at accurate automotive. He not only took me right away, he gave me two options for the repair, and made sure i got on the road safe and sound, also at no cost. He also talked to me which helped me calm down through the process. I would definetly go back there and would refer anybody there. they were wonderful and really care about who walks in their door!
