This makes me very sad, since I live down the street and do all that I can to support local businesses, especially the shops at 56th and Illinois.Yesterday, I got a new watch from an online company that needed a link adjusted on the watchband, so my first thought was to take it to Petite G. Jewelers. The woman who waited on me asked me if I was a repeat customer and I did mention the purchase at the Sidewalk Sale. She looked at the the watch and wrote out a work receipt and said it would be ready the next day.As I was walking out I noticed that she had written $20 on the receipt! $20?! So I turned back and asked her if that was really the charge to which she replied Well, we might be able to go a little less, but....yes. I quickly asked her for my watch back and said I would try to do it myself for $20!I took the watch to another jewelers and had the work done for a $10 donation to the Humane Society.UPDATE!Both my wife and I received a call almost immediately after I posted the above review from Eric at Petite G Jewelers. He was very cordial and professional in addressing the concerns stated and we had a very good conversation.I am so very impressed with this kind of quick response to a customers review and with a business that takes action to make things right and explain, in detail, what happened and what will be done to make sure it does not happen to customers in the future. I now understand that the employee that wrote up the repair ticket for $20 was not familiar with the store policy of money for services of that nature going towards supporting school sponsorships and support in our area.The conversation with Eric absolutely turned my opinion of this business around. I bring all my jewelry repairs to Petite G. I have quite a few pearl pieces and they all have to be restrung eventually. I like that Petite G inventories the item and takes photos before it gets sent for repair. And, of course, it’s perfect when it comes back. They’ve also had to repair my antique wedding ring twice, resized a couple rings, and found us some beautiful watch bands in unusual colors. All done at a reasonable price and look fabulous when returned to me.

I appreciated the service I got. However, I wish I would’ve have asked more questions about resizing my ring and/or tried on the sample size at that visit. My ring was still too small when I picked it up. I’m so glad the jewelry repair staff was available today as the sales rep was able to ask them to make my ring a little bigger. I love the ring!!!
