One thing I didn’t realize throughout the process is how seemingly tiny changes can make such a huge difference, whether it’s making a sleeve a half inch longer or pulling a seam in a centimeter. Throughout all of the minute changes Leila never made me feel like I was asking too much. No change was unimportant, and they were affirming throughout the entire process, truly caring as much as I did about getting it perfect. Please, if you are a bride treat your self to the empowering experience of making your own dress. I was married on 7/3 and I wore a dress that Leila created from scratch. The entire experience was so awesome…. From sketches to fabric swatches to fittings to edits…. it was an awesome part of my entire engagement process. I am not a “must have custom” person….. probably the farthest from it, but I realized that I wanted someone else to do the leg work on “finding” a dress for me. It was affordable (the thing fit without added expensive undergarments and I had NO alteration costs) and I just got to stand and enjoy the experience. I would recommend that anyone getting married at minimum consider the option of custom made AND top of my list is Leila at CCB!

Couldn’t recommend Curvy Custom Bride more! She saved my dress. I had originally taken my dress to a different seamstress due to a recommendation from the store and I totally regretted it. Curvy Custom Bride saved the day! She helped fix my dress basically as soon as I called her and explained what happened. I had to have it done ASAP because it was 5 days until my wedding! Scary, right? The other seamstress had my dress for 10 months while Curvy Custom Bride met with me and fixed my dress in only 30 minutes. How does that happen! She is an absolute miracle worker and my big day wouldn’t have been the same without her. Seriously, she’s the best seamstress in town!

I cant write enough about how lovely our experience was with CCB. Leila took my 1992 wedding dress and made it into my daughters dream gown. She even took on the challenge of designing and creating my MOB dress! I was sad when our months together came to an end! Working with Leila might have been my favorite of all my wedding planning experiences. She really becomes your best friend the second you walk into her adorable little studio. She listens to all of your concerns and even watches your body language to be sure that you are 100% satisfied and confident in your dress. My dress fit like a glove all day and night even with it being pretty low cut. I was never worried about “the girls” making an appearance. The best part, Leila added pockets to my dress! I honestly cannot express how I N C R E D I B L E Leila is and how amazing the work is that they produce.**Story time** I first met Leila when my sister stumbled upon their studio for her wedding dress alterations. Shortly after finding myself engaged, I was at my childhood home and my mother pulled out her old wedding dress and her mothers old wedding dress. My grandmothers dress was gorgeous and fit me eerily well but since it was well over 60 years old it desperately needed repairs. I figured if I was going to seriously consider wearing my grandmothers dress for my wedding, there was only one person for the job: Leila. So we set up a phone call and some amazing ideas were cooked up. I brought the dress in for them to take a look at and see how badly the lace had worn away.Leila painstakingly and gently took apart the dress and brought new life to it-- she made a new bodice for the top that mimicked the original but also gave it a modern spin and changed the silhouette of the skirt to match the picture I had in my head. The outcome was gorgeous.**end story time**A couple of notes about why you should have Leila design your custom wedding outfit:1. She is not afraid of hearing that you want to change something along the process, in fact she lives for it2. Leila is super helpful and competent and makes you feel like everything is under control and well work together to make sure its perfect. There are three fittings to make sure things are going in the right direction. I dont know what other places cost, but mine was $500 for altering the top to fit, adding cups (Im small and flat chested) and adding straps. It fit perfectly and I have no complaints!

I wont be able to put into words how happy I am with Leilas services. I came to her at during a pandemic while all of my other wedding plans were starting to feel uncertain, so I waited pretty last minute to get my dress altered. Finding the perfect wedding dress is a very personal experience- asking a stranger to chop up said wedding dress in hopes of making it fit perfectly is VERY personal. From the moment I met Leila, I knew I was in caring, capable, wonderful hands. She took her time at every appointment, no detail was too small, and she made me feel SEEN. it wasnt about the dress, it was about ME in the dress. I cannot express enough just how much my experience with Leila at CCB added to my wedding process. Leila is incredibly professional, timely, detail oriented, communicative, and INCREDIBLY talented. She added so much joy and love to my wedding preparation process. Her favorite thing to say is that the dress fitting/ making/ alteration process is a dialogue, and so she listens and encourages you to speak your mind, all with the goal of making sure every bride feels confident and beautiful on their day. COVID-19 derailed my original wedding plans, including the plans for my original dress. In a matter of weeks, Leila stepped in, designed a custom gown from scratch, had several fittings with me, and had my perfect, unique dress ready before my wedding day. She also made me and my then-fiance custom masks and also tailored my then-fiances suit. On top of that, she framed her sketch of the gown and signed it for me to keep as a keep sake. I have that beautiful sketch hanging in my bedroom as I type this. I had no idea when I started wedding planning that my alteration specialist was going to be one of the best parts of my wedding, and yet here we are. If I could give 10 stars to Leila at Curvy Custom Brides, I would. My biggest fear with my wedding dress was having to change my weight or body to have the dress look the most flattering. Leila is not only incredibly talented, but she makes you feel comfortable during an uncomfortable and stressful time. She has so many helpful and creative ideas to make any dress unique to you. She was super easy to contact and was always willing to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I would like to add that Leila makes completely custom bridal gowns. Had I found Leila and Curvy Custom Brides prior to purchasing my wedding dress, I would have had her help design a custom look for me. Again, she is incredible and does everything in her power to make sure your wedding dress is what you’ve always dreamed of.

Leila is an absolute dream to work with. I could not have had a more positive or better experience while working with her. I felt like a celebrity at every appointment because of her personal touch of learning my personality, picking up my quirks, and assuring me I looked beautiful in my dress. She spent a great deal of time describing the process to me and explaining how my dress alterations were progressing at each appointment. I never felt rushed or unimportant at my visits. My dress fit like a DREAM. I danced all night and never felt like I was coming out of my dress. I had a verrrry long and verrrry heavy train and my bustle held up most of the night (and I really put it to the test on the dance floor). I believe her prices were fair for the quality of service she provides. She even altered my bridal shower dress. She made a $60 dress look like a million bucks. I am seriously sad that I dont need anything else altered right now. I cant thank her enough.

Leila was AMAZING. She was so kind and open. She was so welcoming and worked to get to know me all so she could alter a bridesmaid dress for me! For my pickup appointment, I brought my daughter and Leila was so fantastic to her (my daughter loves to sew and fashion design) and let her look at her designs. Leila was so amazing with altering my wedding dress. Originally the dress I had bought didn’t fit me exactly as like I wanted. I loved my dress but it didn’t look good, seem to swallow me. I never thought Leila would turn it into my very own dress to fit me perfectly! I had a series of 4 fittings and Leila was very attentive to what I wanted and if I was happy with the dress. Her recommendations made everything perfect, and at my last fitting she even made sure I had something borrowed and she let me borrow a veil she had made. That meant so much to me and I was so proud to wear it with my dress! Definitely recommend going to Leila when it comes to wedding dresses she knows her stuff!!

I wish I could give 100 stars. I dont even know where to begin to say how amazing Leila and my experience with her was. From the beginning, she validated every fear I had and always, always, always, made me feel so beautiful and seen. She *actually* listened to me when I told her what I wanted from a wedding dress and gave me the literal dress of my dreams. I am forever grateful and will shout from the mountaintops (or google or whatever) how incredible working with her is. Leila was such a joy to work with! I was NOT a fan of wedding planning whatsoever, but I always looked forward to my dress fittings; chatting with Leila while she worked on my dress was like getting bonus therapy! Plus, at my last fitting, my sister, friend, and nephew got to hang out and drink champagne while I flounced around in my dress, and it was so much fun 😂 But since this is a review of a business, and not just Leilas awesome personality: shes also ridiculously talented at what she does. I bought a designer dress off-the-rack, and while the dress was gorgeous, it had definitely been...well-loved? (Tried on a LOT, very stretched out, and a bit worse for wear.) Im also bustier than average, and knew it would be impossible to wear a bra with this dress. Leila fixed everything! Not only did she get it to fit me properly (whether I was standing, sitting, or flouncing), she installed (?) an elastic/hook system in the dress so that we could tighten it during the wedding day; the wedding was in Costa Rica, and we knew the heat would make the dress expand the longer I wore it. The dress looked perfect when she was finished with it, and Im so glad I got to work with her!

I cannot say enough good things about Leila at Custom Curvy Bride!!! I found her after buying a wedding dress I liked a lot but didn’t love just yet. It was just a *little* too simple. I kept envisioning taking the back off and replacing it with lace. Another seamstress had told me it was impossible, but Leila wasn’t scared to take on the challenge!From the minute I got on the phone with Leila, I felt so reassured that my dress and I were in good hands. She listened to my ideas, walked me through her plan, helped me pick out THE PERFECT lace—and finessed every detail until my dress far surpassed my hopes for what it could look and feel like. She made the dress fit like a second skin, made sure I could dance in it, and even made a custom veil that matched my dress!I felt so happy and confident on my wedding day, and when I look back at photos, I just keep thinking that the dress was the second best decision I made about that entire day (first best decision was my husband). It made me feel beautiful, not because I was dressed up but because I looked so much like myself.Leila’s not only crazy good at making every seam perfect; she’s also patient, caring and understanding. I am so lucky to have found Leila to tailor my wedding dress! She was so welcoming and inviting right from the get go. You can imagine the level of stress that would ensue when you try on your wedding dress 6 months before the big day to find that the back zipper is not even close to zipping. You have 2 options at that point, only one was viable for me --scrap it and find a new one (nope, not when this one was my dream dress!) or find an incredibly talented tailor/dress designer to make it work (yep, thankfully I found Leila!). In addition to the challenge of making it fit (& it ended up fitting like a glove), Leila also added a beaded belt that I know took a ton of work. Gorgeous! She also worked with my mom and sister to surprise me with a fabric heart from my late grandmothers dress. Not only did she clearly lay out her plan of action, she made me feel so comfortable about the situation. After the initial consultation I knew I was in good hands. I had 3 fittings, all of which were extremely professional and had me feeling confident. I was an out-of-town bride so Leila was also very flexible and understanding with my schedule. In all, Leila had her hands on a lot of outfits for our wedding -- including my dress, my nephews ring bearer outfit, my sisters bridesmaid dress, my brother-in-laws usher pants and my dads jacket! Every. single. article. that had tailoring turned out impeccable. If youre looking for a cheap alteration, this isnt that place, but it shouldnt be - prices were very reasonable for the task, especially since this was the biggest day of my life and I couldnt be happier with the result! All in all, great experience and I highly recommend Leila to anyone who is needing either a custom piece or a wedding dress alteration!

My daughters were both flower girls and asked to wear dresses that matched the bridesmaids. Leila not only sized down a dress to fit my 5yr old daughter, she also made a custom dress from scratch to fit my toddler. The dresses turned out perfect, and Leila was a pleasure to work with!

Extremely difficult to work with. long story short, my wedding dress was a mess, didnt fit, and with two weeks to go before the wedding, I had to hire someone to rush fix it (costing another almost $900). I never got my wedding dress back until 11 am before my 2 pm wedding. Extremely unprofessional person. When you call her out on her mistakes, she snaps back and doesnt apologize. Does not take responsibility and makes excuses. Even when asking a simple question on her availability she snaps back and gives you her whole life story. So unprofessional! I asked for a partial refund only to cover the costs of alterations I should never have had to get done and she refused (my new seamstress even sent a very nicely worded invoice too with pictures as proof of the disaster she had to fix). A $2000 custom dress should have fit me like a glove. Instead, I received a dress full of mistakes that a different seamstress had to work very hard to fix. She had to replace the lining and all the red fabric (my wedding dress had a lot of red). Total cost was close to $3000 when I was originally quoted almost half that. New seamstress said it was a miracle I had a dress to wear at all. And still, the lace and beads on the sleeves FELL OFF during my ceremony and reception. Terrible and unprofessional quality. Brides should stay FAR AWAY and save themselves the stress. Weddings are stressful enough, dont add Leila to the mix.

I honestly have no idea where to start with quite how amazing Leila is. I could start with the disaster she saved me from, or the fact that my fiancé called her and less than an hour later I was in her studio getting the most understanding and caring hug (when she was supposed to have left an hour prior for vacation) or that she made me feel drop dead gorgeous on my wedding day. I could tell my whole story, but it’s honestly too much of a fairytale. Long story short, 3 weeks until my wedding day my fiancé called her in a panic because I went to pick my dress up and was so upset by how it fit. (Yes my (now) husband wins) she immediately changed her schedule to get me in and not once made me feel like a burden. She welcomed me with hugs, she sat me down, and she made me feel comfortable. She listened to me, took notes, made suggestions, and an hour later my crisis became pure wedding bliss. I saw her for 3 fittings, and when I went to pick it up for the final fitting, she had remade my entire dress and I was in love. She is so calm and patient and never made me feel like I was asking too much. WARNING: if you go to her, you will end the process wanting to be her best friend!!! I couldn’t recommend a better place for anything sewing, but especially wedding!!!!
