It was recommended I go to this location to have my propane tank refilled by my closest haul location that did not refill propane. The sign says Fast Fill Fast Pay. It was NOT fast. I rang the bell as instructed at the pump and waited five minutes. Went inside to make sure they knew I was there for propane and was told to continue to wait. I rang the bell a few more times over the next 30 minutes and went in to ask the desk staff again. They said surge manager is the only one who is trained to do it and he is aware. At that time, he walked through the store and immediately into the break room. I decided to spend my money elsewhere. In addition, during the 40 minutes I waited, three other propane customers waited and left. No bueno.

The associates at both pickup and drop off were knowledgeable, pleasant, and helpful. I was a concerned because of all the negative reviews but I had a completely positive experience. I would use this location again.

I try to only leave positive feedback and say nothing if the experience isn’t great. In this case, however, I am compelled to leave one star so that others may be on guard. I have rented Uhaul trucks for many years and in multiple states. This is, without question, the worst branch I have ever dealt with. I’ll also go as far as to say that this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in my entire life (and I am in my 40s). While the story of their shamefully inadequate handling of my rental could be pages long, I will try to only provide the highlights:1. Despite my reservation, it took over an hour to ready my truck.2. I attempted to call the branch prior to arrival and as I was returning the vehicle at least six or seven times - not one time did someone pick up the phone. I had to call Uhaul corporate who was also unable to generate a response from them.3. Upon returning my vehicle, I had to wait 20 minutes to speak with someone because there was only one person working at the counter. The attendant told me she could not help me and I would need to speak with the manager, but he wouldn’t be at work for two more days.4. I took the number of the manager from the placard on the door prior to my leaving. I allowed him a full day past his scheduled return to call me, and when he did not, I called and left a message for him. He never returned my call.5. I am still in the process of closing this rental out and have invested an inordinate amount of time and energy.

So...I just arrived at the Uhaul to pick up the truck, my pick up time is 9 am, and the office is closed. We were told that they will not open for another 45 minutes, because theyre are behind checking in the trucks that were returned overnight.Yeah... save your time Do not come here!!

I rented a truck online, to drop it off at a different location, as you supposedly can do when you rent a U-Haul, and as is advertised, but the day I went to pick it up, the seller told me the contrary in a very rude way. He was not nice and told me: you get it or leave it. I scheduled an specific day for my move, I could not afford to change the day and I ended up paying more than the doble budgeted, according to the website.

I was going to use a u-haul from this location. It was a very painful time dealing with this staff. Upon calling weeks ahead to create a reservation with them for a Friday pick up, the man on the phone was adamant that he would not take a reservation on the phone and that I really didn’t need one if I wanted to pick up one on Friday. I asked if he was sure if it was all right if I just showed up and got a truck, that there would be one there, and again, rest assured, there would be one here, he “didn’t need to take a reservation, there was no need” After calling the location again at a later date to just verify what he said (because that’s weird), when I explained what the other man had toldme a different man then explained they get a lot of trucks on Friday and it would be absolutely no problem, I won’t need a reservation. I trusted it, two different people telling me it won’t be a problem, it’ll be fine right?I show up 10 minutes after opening and there’s no vehicles available, despite the assurances. I wasn’t told this until after waiting about 30 minutes in line. When I explained what happened, how I called that exact location multiple times, how they said I shouldn’t make one, they couldn’t even give an explanation. If I could give zero stars I would. Moving is stressful enough without poor management. Why call when they won’t even give you a good answer

This is a very bad U-Haul, very disorganized, poorly managed. They couldnt find the keys to the truck the day after I returned it. Said they didnt know who checked me in. Also, they charged me for two carts that I left in the back. Watch out, scammer and shady vibes here.

I wish I could give negative 100 stars but unfortunately I am obligated to give 1 star to make this review. I tried calling customer service but unfortunately with my circumstances I do not have time to wait on hold for over 20 minutes to speak with someone. I apologize now because this is a long story and a review of the “service” I received on Sunday April 18th 2021.I received news on Monday 4/12/2021 that my youngest brother passed away unexpectedly from unknown causes. He was very young and lived in the Hyattsville area. When a close family member passes away, one of the things you must do is collect their belongings and clean up where they were living. Hence why I decided to reserve the uhaul from the Chillum Road location.I reserved the uhaul online on 4/17/2021 for a pick up time of 10 am and to have the uhaul for 3 hours. I had my other brother with me and I couldn’t add him to the reservation because you must provide a drivers license. Other people who I know that have rented uhauls have told me this shouldn’t be a problem.We were 10 minutes late arriving because my brother had hit some traffic coming from Calvert county. We walked in, I had my reservation number. I had completed everything online, I just needed the keys and to add my brother on the reservation so he could drive the truck. I had selected the “check in inside” option specifically for this reason. I didn’t receive any phone call but I did receive several emails. Not one of them assigned me a truck number. I wish I remembered the “gentleman’s” name who was working because he was rude from the beginning. He told us the internet had just went down 5 minutes prior to our arrival (how convenient). I told him I had my reservation number in my email. He told me I should have had someone call or email about what truck would be assigned to us. I told him I did not receive any information and that I had been diligently checking my email, voicemails, missed calls, etc. that information was never given to me. He basically had a nonchalant attitude, he shrugged his shoulders at me, told me he couldn’t help me. I asked for a manager. He told me “there is no manager.” Really??? There was no manager?? I asked him repeatedly if I could phone his boss or if his boss could phone me. I explained that I desperately needed this uhaul today. He said “nope. Nothing I can do.”I did get angry and cursed at him. Yes I did. I have a lot on my plate with my youngest brother’s passing. I was already emotional about having to go to the room where my brother took his last breath. I understand that internet servers go down and technology is not always reliable. Uhaul should have a system in place for when things like that happen, as most places of business do. I was so angry that this employee had completed disregarded and disrespected my brother and me. He showed no interest in providing customer support that day and also turned away another customer who was behind us. That is UNACCEPTABLE. I will never use uhaul ever again in my life. And I will tell everyone I know to not use them and about my horrible experience.So Uhaul.... here are my suggestions. First of all, you must have a system in place for when the internet or other technology is unavailable. It happens. Most businesses have a system in place for such cases. Also, your employee that was working the desk that day needs to be trained in customer service and empathy. I am sure other customers that will want to use Uhaul may be in similar situations as my family. I have never in my life experienced service like that. Also, I am writing this review because I do not have time to wait on hold for an hour waiting to talk to someone regarding my experience. If someone from Uhaul would like to reach out to me, be my guest. I will never use uhaul ever again. Luckily, my late brother had some very kind roommates who helped us come up with another option and it worked out. But I would hate for someone else to experience what my family and I experienced that day.

Be careful going here for propane refills as they either dont understand fractions or they purposely overcharge their customers. Got 3 and 1/10 gals outside and rep insisted to the cashier inside I got 3.5 gals. I dont know about anyone else but its pretty simple. 1/10 is not 5/10. Not the end of the world, its only an extra ~$.90 or so for nothing, but getting overcharged is getting overcharged, folks there wouldnt be happy if they had to to pay extra for their products and services so why do unto others, you know? Anyway watch the meter closely if you go here for propane refills. God bless.

Arrived at U Haul (Hyattsville) for pickup of a reserved trailer; reservation was completed three days prior. Unfortunately, no staff member could locate the trailer. I was told the reservation was completed properly online and in the system correctly but could not be physically located on site. Since my reservation was for one-way travel (apparently local and one-way rentals are coded differently?) U Haul couldnt give me a different unit in their inventory. Eventually, U Haul located another trailer 45 mins away (Columbia) which I had to retrieve. I would recommend calling the U Haul pickup location to ensure your reservation is correct...

I arrived at the location at 8am 7/17/20. I located my truck with the code that I see in my phone. I checked; it was ready. But when I was about to get in, I was harshly stopped by a U-Haul employee saying that they prepared it for someone else. I show him my reservation and the matching vehicle code on it; he said does NOT matter and made me do the check-in again manually, on-site, without a face covering. This alone caused my very precious 30mins from my move-in window.I finally picked up the truck arrived my move-out address only to realize the utility doll I ordered is not in the truck! Meanwhile, I am having sms arguments with the move helpers (MoverHelper) as they want to change the time from 9am to 11:30am. After some argumentation, I had to agree to that as I had no other option. So, I carried everything on my back alone and manually with no utility tools! Move-out supposed to be done by 10am but I could only complete it by 11am. Then, I had to go to the U-Haul store again to get the utility doll because it is actually a must for the move-in to a 12 floor building (move-out was from a single family house).It was 11:45am when I arrived at the move-in address. And again, the move helpers want to change it to 1pm this time. My move-in reservation ends at 12pm/noon. We ended up treating each other in sms!!! Because of all this complications, I was under a huge stress and rushing around, scratched the front top of the truck to the wall of the loading deck. Thankfully we bought the SafeMove in insurance, right? Wrong! I completed the move-in 10y old daughter and pregnant wife (lucky, the move-in scheduled after us was late too, so I could use the deck till 1pm). Then I took the truck back to the U-Haul store to only hear that the insurance they sold me does not cover the over-head damage. None-sense, it says it covers accidental damage which is exactly what happened. Then they say; except collusions with over-head objects. I had not energy left in me to argue with them; just I do not accept the responsibility; you do you! Came home; checked the website; found the bullsh*t exception statement only 8 clicks away from where I bough the insurance.Later they send my $1169 bill, none-sense! I will not pay anything and I am ready to defend myself at court if necessary!

The Uhaul website listed this place as opening at 8am on Sundays which is why we chose to travel out of our way to pick up here. Got there at 8 and they didn’t open until 9. Sat and waited while employees were there but wouldn’t assist me. I checked in online and was first in line when opened and got my trailer hooked up and they made me come back in and get back in line to finish up. There were lots of very unhappy people standing in a very long line. They moved very slowly and showed no concern that the line was long and made no attempt to assist people timely. Just a very poor uhaul experience.

This review is based entirely on their availability of a propane filing station. It is really nice to be able to bring propane canisters by and only pay for what you purchase. Much better than the bottle exchange systems. They fill up your tank and you pay by the pound of propane.

I was misinformed of pricing and truck availability by one of their neighborhood retailers. Contacted this location for clarification, and was given completely different info. I told the female that I was speaking to that I wanted to cancel my reservation. She proceeded to just hang up in my face. No confirmation that my reservation had been canceled. This site is trash. Save yourself headache, AND miney!!!

Unprofessional staff. My cashier let someone behind me cut the line just because they were friends. We waited 30 mins even though we arrived early to pick up the truck. Not only was the staff casually joking and blatantly ignoring the customers, my cashier failed to inform us that the truck we were given was a manual. Never going back here again.

Would strongly advise not using this company for any services.Moved from CT to MD and returned van to Hyattsville location. Since return have had numerous attempts to charge my credit from this location.Called customer service over 6 times, with 45 mins wait each time, no one willing to help.The store general manager apparently is the person continuously running my credit card for charges that are all different prices.Will unfortunately have to contact consumer affairs and BBB it appears, as this has continued for over three month .

I mean their is other 1 star reviews here only came here to drop off the truck there was a small line but was quick and painless for me. Showed me where to leave it and that they will checl it out after I personally took pictures just in case something shady came up. But now it has been a month and can safely say it was smooth.

Probably the best service Ive received at a Uhaul. I was triple charged from the place I moved from when exchanging a smaller truck for a larger truck. Instead of charging my card, the lady looked at my total and asked me if that seemed right. She managed to get it fixed after a while and was super friendly about it all.

This location was a nightmare to rent with. They hid damage from me, and I didn’t realize it until the roof was leaking rainwater and getting my contents wet. Luckily I bought the optional insurance, but they noted it and did not tell me. They were also not helpful when getting the truck, and sold me a wrong lock and I didn’t realize it until I had finished loading my truck. I went back to this location and arrived right as they were closing. The doors were locked and I kept knocking because there were emoloyees visible in the store. They then yelled at me and started to mock me when I wouldn’t go away. Finally a disgruntled employee came to the door and swapped out my lock for me. Then as I was attempting to leave, another disgruntled employee had a case of road rage and almost ran me over in the parking lot. Stay away from this location at all costs.

Dont rent here! I dropped the truck off after hours after completing a routine move. One hour before the store even opened the next morning, my card was charged over $800 without my permission for damages that I didnt do. The manager, Henry, refused to speak with me or even show me pictures of this damage. It turns out they also own a repair shop and will charge you obscene rates for anything they want. This place is a scam. I wish I could give them zero star.

Their 24 hours renting is dead. Could you imaging, the guy is trying to call a friend i put his information for him to verify @ 3am in the morning. who will ever pick his/her phone at that time.At 5pm, I inform them of the time I will pick it up (3am); they should have verified everything before I pick it up by 3am. First they allow me to drive straight from my place of work to their site, that was 2:30am. Secondly, they kept me waiting for almost 2 hours trying to find the truck. Thirdly, their unprofessional online staff by name ARNICE said he wasnt convinced of my headshot and the photo in my Drivers License. The other mistake he did was calling someone at 4am to verified if the person knew me. They didnt deserve this single star I gave them.THEY WILL MESSED YOUR SCHEDULE UP IF YOU EVERY TRY TO WORK WITH THEM AFTER HOURS. THIS GUY/GIRL CALLED ARNICE NEEDS SERIOUS TRAINING. Great location, but horrible staffing. I reserved a uhaul for Saturday morning and was waiting in line for an hour to retrieve it. They need to have more people helping during times where they have more people coming in for reservations. Wish I could give more stars, but I cant.

This location sucks! In line now waiting to rent a reserved truck. There are 30+ people in line and at least 10 u-haul representatives in the store but the line is moving at snail’s pace and no one seems to care. Zero customer service!!

I made a reservation and used the express check in. I arrive before they were open, but six people were already in line. Only one cashier showed up. I waited for an hour to get my truck. No apology for the lack of workers. The cashier had no sense of urgency, though all in line expressed their frustration. Very unprofessional.

The staff at this location are a terrible mess. I had a reservation, but I had a question about my one way drop off so I decided to drop in and ask. The lady at the desk was up front containing about the length of the line and how she just got back from lunch and shouldve came back. Then she proceeded to tell the story about she just got back from vacation in FL and she wished she did not have to come back to this job. It was just so unprofessional. If you hate your job so much...quit. And she also took the time to ask the customer in front of me in line did she need an assistant or hiring at her business because she needed a new job (BTW, who would hiring you while your currently at your job complaining and bashing your job).Just not a good look U-Haul, get it together...

Do not ever go to Chillum Rd, Hyattsville Md. The manager Henry is Racist. He will stalk and harass you and charge fraudulent fees if you are not Hispanic or White. Corporate does not care because he supposed to stalk you, quote Karen the excutive manager. Uhaul will never get my business again.

Sold us a unit but did not take their lock off, so we dont have access to store our items. If you rent a unit from this facility make sure you walk back to the unit with them and watch them remove the lock before you leave. It is now after hours and the number left for us to call for assistance keeps going to voicemail. Do yourself a favor and choose another storage facility in the area!
