They carry anything and everything youd ever need from n scale to oscale. Highly recommended.
Very very nice people. Very helpful they take time to explain how things work or what part you need probably the best model train store that I’ve been to.
I come to this hobby store every Friday and as soon as you walk in, it’s all trains. Lots and lots of them! Ranging from beginning starter train sets to the most popular high end locomotives in N, HO O, S and G scale. There’s also rolling stock, accessories, track pieces, power packs, scenery products and much more! Oh I almost forgot, they even buy collections and used trains from a by-gone era! Highly recommend it!!!!
I was very impressed. Russel (sp?) was very helpful and even poured me a cup of coffee. I live in South America, but I will visit next time I am in town. Thanks for the positive experience.
Russell was amazingly helpful and pleasant to talk to. Prices seemed very reasonable. It’s really great to have hobby shops like these around and this one doesn’t disappoint. I recommend you stop in and take a look. I can’t wait to go back
This train shop gets better every time you go
Friendly Place, Great selection. A bit of a unicorn these days.
I visited the store a couple times and really was impressed with the selection and variety of model trains. The owner was helpful and friendly and I found a number of great items. I recommend this shop.
They haves a huge selection of products and building materials. Some of which are hard to find locally. Very nice staff.
Russell was very friendly and helpful. I very much enjoyed my first visit to this store.
Model Yrain Crossing has a variety of trains, cars, trucks, people, buildings etc. From standard to n-scale including super-o tracks. Try them and I can guarantee youll be there for an hour or two. Very knowledgeable staff as well.
Popped in 15 minutes before closing and didn’t have enough time to see all if their great inventory, and it’s a small shop! Can’t wait to be back in the Dallas area so I can go back.
Im not an expieriance modeler. But felt like I was treated like a beginnger. I wanted to get into dcc. Buy a large steamer. Had some questions. But what i was handed instwad was an outdated book on how to build a layout. That didnt have any information I needed. I already have books. What I wanted was a throttle and a bigboy. But what I felt like i was getting was a brush off. The impression I got was. Here you read this book first . When you become an expert. Then come back and Ill sell you what you want. No! dont think ill be back. Instead of selling me what I wanted. And getting the help I was looking for. When I came in there. I went to Tonys trains.com instead and got what I wanted. Dont wanna make a sell. I took my business elsewhere.
I have been going to Model Train Crossing since I was about 10 years old. Im now 30 and have just found out about Buddys passing. He was a good man. When I was home off the road as a truck driver, Id take him out to eat from time to time, help out around the store and also take him home after closing time. All around, this was a great place to browse and purchase model train products. Very cozy, small and quiet place to shop. I hate I didnt get to see him with my busy schedule.. I would highly recommend this place even though I havent been there in a while. If the original owners family is as welcoming and loving as he was, I would continue to shop there. My condolences to the family.
Loved this place. I started taking my son there when he was around 4 years old. He’s 30 now and had still been going to visit Mr Buddy, the owner up to about a year ago. We’re just learning of his passing and so sad. Mr Buddy was always such a nice caring man. He always kept me company as my son would walk around the store to shop. He always helped my son a great deal with the trains and other items we purchased. My son is a truck driver and whenever he was in town, he would often go to take Mr Buddy to lunch. We had planned on going by to visit him this weekend. So saddened that he has passed. Prayers for his family. He was such a nice man.
It was a great experience. The Store had a complete 180, its clean, organized, and and smoke free. I must say I do miss buddy tho, may his soul rest in peace . All in all the store is in great condition. Anybody will love to shop there. 😀👍
I will be back when Im in town to visit. A great train store!!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great place to check out and purchase your model train needs.
I’ve been shopping at Model Train Crossing for 5 years now, ever since we moved to town. He almost always seemed to have what I needed and that’s no small feat considering the breadth of the hobby. Buddy will be missed. He and I flew the B-52 back in the old days (near 50 years). Super guy and the consummate gentleman. “Radar and Gunner, you have AC power and cooling air!” Fair winds!
These guys are awesome and their love of people and model trains really shows in their customer service! Glad we visited today!
The service the selection and the prices are great
Yesterday, I went to MTC to get my train fix . I was very saddened by the unknown fact that the old man was gone. After 38 year of buying and discussing trains with Mr. BUDDY I am deeply sad of his passing. He will be remembered for being a expert of trains and railroads. But, I will remember him for facing a sickness like a true MAN to the end of track. May u rest in peace...
Bought my trains.
Very helpful, this is now my official train store. Everyone should check it out!
A charming old fashioned cozy train store with a lot of nice options. If you expect costumer service in the modern sense, you will be disappointed! Upon my entrance no one greeted me or even came forward to ask if I needed help, BUT, the store owner (I think he is the owner, not sure though) was an older gentleman, extremely friendly and nice, had a long conversation with me and even gave me advice, it was classic old school shopping! The prices are reasonable and even in some cases competitive compared to online prices (esp since there are no shipping fees)! Overall had a great experience here, found everything I needed for a reasonable price.
Excellent service in finding a gift!
Awesome selection and the employees know their stuff
Very knowledgable, huge selection.
Great shop, very friendly, very helpful. They have a big inventory. I’ll be coming here to get everything for my Christmas train set up.
A whole bunch of Kato track and add on sets . Nice and knowledgeable staff. A tad pricey but they stayed after hours to let me shop .
Love this store! Owners are very knowledgeable and helpful!! Great selection and prices!
Always fun to see whats new and see some of the really old trains too.
The owner Buddy can be nice if your lucky to be there on that day. He has quite a bit of inventory but he wants pretty much MSRP for it. I guess he doesnt understand its 2017 and folks can buy online now with lower pricing. I want to do business with him but I just refuse to pay retail. His store is in dire need of some actual merchandising and he needs to consider having a sale once in a while.
The owner passed away in April. The family is working on reopening the store. Great place to buy train stuff.
Old fashion service. Owner Buddy was very patient with me. I’m a beginner win o scale trains. I order a steam locomotives and a Diesel locomotive from him. He is very old school man just be patient and you will get very good old-school knowledge on model trains
The place reminds me of some movie. And the guy that runs it, hes always so happy. I admire that.
If your into model trains this is the perfect place to stop at the employees are friendly 1 of them is even a retired union pacific employee and enjoys talking and helping out with any questions we have visited many time and lots of purchases always good competitive prices
Good selection of N scale and larger. Prices are reasonable. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Had everything I needed and more. Wish I would have gone here before buying and selecting my set. Ordered parts from a big name, franchise hobby shop, its been over a week and nothing. I could have bought what I wanted at the Train Crossing and had my layout up and running by now.
Loved the store and have 5 amazing pentrex videos to watch!!
After calling the store and being told they could order the parts I needed. I stopped by some 6 weeks later having heard nothing. When I asked the owner what is the status of my order I was told I didnt bother ordering it. No explanation at all.Do you think they need an explanation why I will always take my business elsewhere and tell anyone I meet to do the same.In these hard economic times no business that wants to remain open can have such a bad attitude to its paying customers.
Had everything I needed theyre a little over priced but Ill still shop here.
This Train Shop hobby shop has always been a good place to go the guy who owned it was pretty good guy sorry to hear he passed away I hope they can get it reopened one of the only ones left I like to touch what I buy not order it online
My fault for not calling in advance, but closed when I arrived at 4pm. Store looked interesting from the window.
I brought my toddler to see what the store had in inventory, and we showed up on a Friday at 11:15 am. The front door was locked and the lights were out. We knocked on the door, and even waited about 10 minutes for anybody to show up or be there, but nothing. We called the phone and there was no answer, with it going to a voicemail box. We were incredibly disappointed.
I was in Fort Worth on other business and hoped to drop by on a surprise to pick up some metal wheelsets and drill tooling for a few freight car projects. I was caught in traffic and running late and called right before closing if they minded staying open for a few minutes so that I could make it in. The store owner agreed and said hurry on in. I was able to get pretty much all of the parts that I needed and appreciated the excellent service.
Great place...all types of models and accessories for your train sets.
Love it great store

Nice store, reasonable price and good selection
The owner did not approach me when i came in the store. i even calmy said anybody here? heard the owner come from the back so i appraoch him and all i got was a scowl and WHAT DO YOU NEED!! i gave him the track that i was looking to get about 40 feet of for my train around the wall of my room project. was very short with me when shwowing were it was and angerely said he didnt have that much. he did if anything gave me a price on ordering the amount and quoted me $150...........looked at the trains and walked out. went to hobbytown usa and bought the amount for less than $100 and was able to get other supplies and almost a locomotive for the set up. i would not recommend this store to anyone im amazed the place is even still in business.

Great indoor hobby for the family
