Carmax is always the place to go to get your a valued correctly. Sometimes I take their offer, sometimes I dont (This time I took their offer). Either way you are a winner. You need to go by and get their appraisal before going to trade in your car. You get a no games evaluation and a 7 day price guarantee. When the dealership offers you less you can say match this or Ill take it back to Carmax to sell. Carmax is way easier to deal with the dealerships for valuing your used car fairly.

Dont need an appointment but expect them to be busy on Saturdays. Also, your car isnt worth what you think it is. If you want retail money for your car then take the time and money to advertise it yourself. Keep in mind, CarMax will cut you a bank draft on the spot. This is by far the easiest way to sell your car and the convenience of that is built into the offer.

Went in with no appointment, but only waited about 10 minutes to see someone. Very honest about how they work, the price theyre going to offer is wholesale value, based on data from recent auctions for your exact make and model features etc. Even with that, the offer came back higher than I expected. The man that helped me was very polite and helpful through the whole thing.

My mother and I went to Carmax at 12:30p today to sell my dads car. He passed away a couple weeks ago and it was emotional seeing the car parked in the driveway when coming home. We didn’t have to wait long and got an offer. While still in the building I had to call my sister to make sure she was good with the offer. This took 25 minutes before I walked to the window to say we were ready to proceed. In that 25 minutes the room filled up. The Carmax employee stated we would need to sign in again and wait possibly 2 hours. This seemed unreasonable since we didn’t leave. My mother became distraught so we left to take a break since we had already been there for over an hour dealing with this. We came back 30 minutes later and signed back in to wait another hour.I get people coming in and out and waiting. But today was hard when it didn’t have to be. And that sucked.

I call corporate, crying in their bathroom, he said they would fix this and someone will contact you Never did until I did on the day the 2nd car came 1050 am is when they contact Me 😩watch salesmans there . Appraisal was faster than expected. We got in & out of there in less than an hour with a check in hand. This was the second time Ive done business here and both times I thought their offer was very fair. Also, the bathroom was very clean! A tip for the ladies: if the name on your car title differs from your current name - your maiden name is your current name, bring your marriage certificate, it may save some time. The check is issued according to the name on the car title. Keep that in mind if you think your bank may not cash the check with your previous name. Great experience with the helpful & knowledgeable staff.

They tell me the they get their value from KBB and auction, I advised him we are not in an auction environment, we are in a trade in environment, just because you normally buy cars at one place doesnt mean the price is the same everywhere. I normally buy cars from private sellers but if I buy from you I know Im paying more because its not the private part environment. He claims KBB told him the car was worth about $1,814 less then KBB told me its worth, REALLY??? They are screwing people. I know you will be reselling it so you must have margin left to make a profit but you are LOW BALLING people and hoping they are too stupid to know what their car is REALLY worth in trade in and retail. You also lied about what you would resell it for, if you would sell it for $4K less then its worth you would not be in business. THEY LIE!!!!!! KNOW WHAT YOUR CAR IS WORTH, BOTH TRADE AND RETAIL!!

Try to get an online appraisal switch the CarMax application advertisers, I got all the way to the internet tells me to drive to Dallas with all my papers. Uninstall the app.

The agents act professional, review the vehicle and access the price they can pay for your vehicle in a relatively short time. Their lobby is comfortable, you can watch tv, read or purchase snacks to eat while you wait.

Offered me way way below what I can get at a dealership. I have been shopping around for selling it outright at different dealers. What I have found is that dealers from different manufactures will often offer you more. So if you have a chevy try ford. Or if you have a ford try chevy. Dont know why that is. Now if your trading in it might be a different situation. Also the reason they said the quote from car max was so low is because they only give you the price they can get from auction. My car is only 2 years old so its in mint condition. Maybe if you have an old junker it might be the place to stop at. Not for anyone who has a car of value. Either try the dealerships or sell it outright.
