Great place if youre just getting into guns or if you are looking for something more tactical. Oakland tactical also offer CPL classes for new time pistol carriers who want to conceal carry. Walking into a gun store can be a real hit or miss experience solely based on who receives, and helps you at the counter... these guys not only know what they are talking about, but they all are welcoming to any and all levels of experience with firearms. It’s hard to go finding what you’re looking for when the sales reps are exploding within their own ego. (I personally deal with Tyler G whenever I need to pick a brain and know I’ll always get nothing but his best customer service and advice every time based on what I AM looking for, not just what he likes) the employees at OT are all just as friendly and knowledgeable across the board. Their selection is pristine. They do in house silencer applications. Have Ammo when you need it. And are always happy to help anyone through any type of build or modification!One of my favorite places to go in general! I give them and the whole team a 10/10!

I have shopped at Oakland Tactical several times. Even being new to the firearm scene with little experience, my questions were addressed with sincerity. Simply the best firearms shop in South east Michigan. I live ten minutes from Dundee (where the is another retailer that sells firearms) but have found that the 1 hour drive to Oakland Tactical is well worth the time. If youre looking for firearm advise I would go to Oakland Tactical, if you need a fishing pole then go to Dundee.

Ive been to 20+ gun stores in the past five years some people swear by this shop or that shop and others cant say a good thing about the same place. Oakland tactical employees treatment to me as a customer was professional, fair, and very knowledgeable. I know opinions are like (yep) everyone has one but they will have myself and my family business in all my firearms needs in the future.

OaklandTactical.com sold me a New product (SilencerCo 3-lug mount) that had clearly been opened and tampered with. The factory seal was ripped off and the installation tool was missing. When I called to inquire, Mike tried to tell me that the missing tool was not included, when it most certainly is. He also explained that the part had most likely been installed on a silencer at some point. Not cool Oakland... You sold me a used part with a missing tool. I expect the tool or a partial refund to make this right.

One of the best FFL’s in lower Michigan. These guys sell the guns that you WISH you could buy, but thought they only existed in video games. Most fantastic selection of unique arms I have ever come across. Also, their precision experts, so go to them for a rifle build

Honestly the best spot Ive found to cover my needs. From random fun plinkers to top of the line firearms, and every accessory in between. This is the one stop shop. Ive only had good experiences in here. Highly recommend from the awesome inventory to the staffs knowledge. It didnt matter how much I was spending, staff always had time to answer my questions and made me feel comfortable with my purchases. I now frequent there about 2-3x per month even if its just to checkout the badass guns!

Used to be my favorite stop when visiting Michigan but no more. I get covid, I get the hike in ammo but when you stop to get a box of hollow points for your armed security job, which mind you they claim they are essential to Leo and civilian, well Im both and you refused to sell me a box of sig sauer vcrown 9mm unless I bought a 9mm gun! What a joke, lost my business and I did spread the word to all my coworkers in ohio and Michigan to by pass your lil store

I called Oakland Tactical and gave VERY detailed instructions that I wanted to have my binary trigger installed in a Kalashnikov KP-9. They were very confident and said Id have to leave it a few days because they were busy. So, I got in my car and drove the 45+ miles to their shop. As I entered a man who had helped me a week before asked to see my gun, made sure it was clear and put it on the counter. Then he proceeded to tell me that the gunsmith probably thought I said the gun was an AR. I guess hes either a mind-reader or he was the one who took the call. So, I packed up and walked out. Nobody was about to apologize. After all, it wasnt their 90-mile, 2-hour venture. You know why you call places first? Thats right...so you dont make a 90-mile drive for nothing. Unfortunately, the people on the phone also have to listen to what youre saying. Okay...so scratch Oakland Tactical off the list and delete the bookmark.

Traveled to Oakland Tactical from Lansing. Could not find anyone who was able to service us the way they did! Very pleased with our first visit. Super friendly staff members, and great variety within the store. It was a little bit of an inconvenience that their credit card machine was having issues, so we did have to pull cash from the ATM next door. But we didn’t mind much. Will definitely be back for future services/purchases!

Oakland Tactical is a place I have been meaning to stop at for the longest time, finally made it in and just as I suspected they are not your typical store by any means. Nice selection of factory new, customized - mild to wild and entry level to exotics, accessories and optics galore but the key is their staff. Nice, polite, respectful, highly informed people who know their products like Casey who I worked with. He was excellent start to finish even while handling multiple customers and transactions. Casey had answers as well as insight and practical experience with everything I inquired about and purchased.Hard to go wrong here, with a fabulous inventory including really tough to find AMMO as well as a myriad of shooting platforms. I made my first purchases with them yesterday. Being a serious 1911 Shooter since age 7, I am not easily impressed by most brick and mortar stores, but this store was impressive - no pressure and great people to do business with. These are all the reasons why Oakland Tactical is still in business while other brick and mortar stores are not.Thank you guys, looking forward to my next visit and purchases.

Will NOT go back to Oakland Tactical, I purchased parts to build a complete AR upper and being that I was purchasing all the parts necessary to assemble it they offered to put it together for no additional cost while I wait, after paying for everything they informed me it would be an hour or two before they can get to putting it together (not while I wait) and I dont live close either, after killing enough time I got the call to pick up my upper fully assembled. After getting it home I noticed that the upper receiver had a scratch in it, the muzzle device was not properly tightened and the hand guard was missing the locking assembly! A few days passed and I drive back over there 40 minute drive just for them to find an extra hand guard lock in the back to put on, wouldnt do anything about the scratch or the inconvenience even though it was all failures on thier part. Moral of the story is if you are going to spend almost $1000 on gun parts DONT do it at Oakland Tactical and take your money to someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Phenomenal experience here, and experience is the appropriate word. I have been to many gun shops where it feels as though the owners are collectors, and they have bestowed upon me the privilege to come view their collection... oh and, Please dont disturb the collector.The guy I spoke to, Barrett, was awesome. He wasnt pushy nor did he talk too much, but he answered every question I had (there were many), and added some relevant pieces of advice/points of view I hadnt considered.Needless to say, service was awesome. Inventory was crazy considering the space... some of the nicest firearms I have ever seen in person. Prices were good -- at least on par with what I have seen around, with some significantly lower, and some a touch higher.Some of the best collection of Class III stuff I have ever seen in a brick and mortar shop.

Everyone at Oakland Tactical is so kind and helpful. I just ordered my first AR parts kit and they helped me put it together and taught me how to do everything. I had a nice long conversation with the owner’s wife and the owner. Such amazing people.

Store was slammed with customers when i went in 2hrs before close, and the staff were short handed as it was a holiday weekend. Despite all this, i received prompt, professional service from the staff. They made sure to address any questions or concerns i had. They had a nice selection and were knowledgeable about what the store had in stock as well as what else was on the market. Their prices seemed to me at least to be fair. I was very pleased with my experience and will be returning for future purchases.

I have been in there quite a few times, with and without friends. All of which has been to discuss/ask questions about an AR build I was doing, and one a friend was thinking about. Each and every time they have answered our questions, and more often than not, been able to SHOW us the solution or something better. They have always had an answer for me, and I plan to take a lot of my business there. Working in retail I already recommend many of my customers to these guys because they know exactly what they are doing. Many of them have come back and told me how quick they got his....or how much they helped out with this. Never heard a drip of sour rapport from these guys(and gal if I remember).

Oakland Tactical was a great gun purchasing experience. Unlike many gun stores Oakland tactical is actually very helpful and informative. I have purchased from many other stores, and I will admit that Oakland Tactical is my new favorite. Their selection keeps growing and their prices are the best that I have found in the area. When I went in I was searching for a specific rifle, they had something similar, really better, but not exactly what I was looking for. They made a phone call and said that they could have the rifle I wanted there the next day. I was very impressed and I bought the rifle when it showed up the next day.The first time I fired the rifle I had trouble with it and brought it back in to the shop that night. The staff immediately took ownership of the problem. No talk about calling the manufacturer or sending the rifle back and seeing what someone else had to say about it. They owned it.They shot the rifle the next day and sorted out the problem and returned to me that night.These guys are the reason you dont want to buy guns or accessories online. When you buy from them, you are their customer and they take care of you. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful when you come in.I cant recommend these guys enough. I walked in and was greeted immediately, they really took there time in explaining the different products to ensure that I am making the best choice for my needs. Ive stopped in twice now to look around. Once before and once shortly after the move. I was not greeted either time by any employee. There were quite a few people in the store, but not even getting any acknowledgment really put me off. I stood around for a while (10-15) minutes and looked at some prices without once getting greeted or even eye contact from an employee. The prices were fairly high as well, which you can expect from a shop that has a lot of overhead. Price and employee greetings aside, I can say that the old shop was nice and the new one will be nice once they finish getting it together. They also had a nice selection of AR parts, which is what I was looking for. If you are looking for local AR parts Im sure you can find what you need, just expect to pay higher prices and you might have to grab a sales person by the ear to show them that you exist. I will likely give them a third chance, maybe it will be better after all they settle from the move.

Went into multiple shops for a handgun. No dealers had it in stock nor did any offer to order it.Called Oakland Tactical and they said they had it in stock. When I reviewed the handgun there were some options I did not like (My fault for not asking over phone). They offered to order it then and there for only a deposit.The gun arrived the next day and they called immediately.I picked it up the following day.The staff was knowledgeable and funny. Only they will get the funny part.

Called today 12/3/16 and talked to a good salesperson--Cant remember his name but inquired about a used gun. All questions answered and if he did not know he asked the owner which I have no problem with as long as we get the proper info. Very nice and helpful. Oakland tactical is unique. They have nearly everything a precision shooter could ask for in stock. If they dont have it they get it quick and make life easy. They now carry Dewey rods and cleaning accessories to perform precision weapon maintenance. Ammo prices are good and staff are subject matter experts in their respective fields, not YouTube certified tacticool wannabes. They practice/compete in what they preach.

I was glad to see a new gun shop open in the area but Oakland Tactical is not like the other gun stores. I dont hunt much but I love military hardware and I prefer shooting with tactical style guns and equipment and that is what this store specializes in.The experience is totally different than at other gun shops where you wait for a relatively disinterested employee to notice you; at Oakland Tactical the friendly and knowledgeable staff seem glad to help you as long as you wish and can direct you to a firearm purchase that fits your needs. Whether you are a first-time gun purchaser or not, the staff at Oakland Tactical will genuinely make you feel comfortable there. They also have access to professional training for beginner to advanced shooter which I have also taken advantage of.Oakland Tactical is a modern gun store that is well-lit, organized, and has a large inventory of very high quality rifles, pistols and accessories at reasonable prices. I personally know several people that are very pleased with their shopping experience there and I too recommend them.

Just purchased a 1911 from OT. Very helpful and friendly employees. Ordered the gun and it came in a couple of days. If they dont have it in stock they can get it. If you want tactical, this is the place to go. I will definitely be buying from OT again. They also have pretty good prices and are willing to deal. Great Store!

Really enjoy this store. Very nice and non- pushy staff. Prices are on par with other brick and mortar stores, but there sales are great. I often walk in, ask whats on sale, and end up buying something. They have a little bit of everything for everyone...home/self defense, tactical and hunting. I came in the other day asking for a specific holster for a specific use...which they didnt have on the shelf. Instead of selling me something I didnt want or need, they recommended a customer holster place to make sure I got exactly what I was looking for. They wanted me happy in lieu of making a sale....thats why Ill keep supporting them and other local stores.

I went to four different gun shops this past week to compare prices, service, $ offered for a trade, and overall feel. Oakland Tactical was the best overall of the four. Their service/helpfulness in explaining the differences between different pistols was the best Ive experienced. The selection was decent. Their prices on new and used handguns was mixed (some higher, some lower) than other places. The only item that O.T. didnt come out best or 2nd best was the priced offered for my potential trade - but it is a business and they obviously want to make the most money they can. Would definitely return.

They are over the top helpful and will spend as much time as you need to explain anything you may wish to ask. I am impressed with their positive attitude, professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond!I live close to several other larger gun shops that have been around a lot longer than Oakland Tactical but I was never impressed. I still have a hard time with gun stores with attitudes, what is the deal? With Oakland Tactical it is a family run, hard working group of people who dont give you the gun store attitude, they give you sincere customer service.I would highly recommend Oakland Tactical. It is a bit of a drive for me but it is worth it.

High end quality selection for any price range. If you have a question expect a non snob answer from some cool gun guys. No hardcore sales pressure here! They even have firearm financing :) I highly recommend Oakland Tactical.

I honestly dont know a lot about guns, but they are very helpful and, I feel, honest about their knowledge and opinions. They didnt seem like I was an inconvenience and they were very patient with my husband and I. Great customer service and professional. Virgil (?) was especially great but everyone was knowledgeable. Just found them on google.

Went here when I decided to build my AR. Staff was very helpful and talked me through the whole process, what I would need and showed me options for my build. There prices were fair. Went in another time to look at optics, there guy that knows the most about them was not there but they offered to stay open late if I wanted to come back and could not make it during their normal hours. Only reason took a star was because they do not have a lot of variety, this may be because they are fairly new. I would definitely recommend stopping buy if you are in the market or just to look.
