Directron has changed over the many years they have been in business. 10 years ago, they used to sell almost everything you need for your computer with the best prices in town. Today, they barely sell anything and Micro Center has become my go-to place for what Directron used to be. I miss the old Directron; they have reduced their operations down to almost nothing and this company is a shell of its former self. If you restore your store back to the way it used to be, I would shop here again.
Tried calling no once would answer. Decided to go by... walked in and walked out. No one to be seen, from what inventory I could see was disappointing.
Staff from top to bottom have no issues lying directly to my face. There is no reason not to go to Microcenter when it comes to price, selection, honesty, and expertise.
Did not think the staff was very friendly. Drove all the way to this place thinking it was like a discount frys electronics. NOPE. Nowhere near. Absolutely nothing in the front store area and you have to ask sales person if they have in stock and its not sold at discounted rates. The only refurbished items they have are old keyboard. Save the drive for better choices
Really great place to go to get computer repairs and very honest with good prices. They go above and beyond to solve your computer problems.
I would suggest them to anyone. Fantastic price and quick shipping even being a custom build and the operating system installed. Excellent company to deal with and I absolutely love my new PC. It doesnt get any better and the staff was a pleasure to deal with. Two thumbs up all the way!
The absolute cheapest prices and best selection for electronics that I have ever seen anywhere. I built a very fast computer for under $500, and I bought all of the parts here. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good deal on electronics.
Directron has everything Ive ever needed when it comes to the rare parts and top-of-the-line hardware I need to make my computer run at top performance. The staff has always been brilliant in helping get the right parts and will even do delivery. Ive used their website several times and found it to be very organized and well constructed. I highly recommend Directron to any computer enthusiast and I place them top notch over every other computer distributor out int he market. Better than Frys and so much better than those morons over in Best Buy.
I have been purchasing from Directron for years! They have great customer service and the best prices around, especially in Houston! Knowledgeable staff, large selection of products online and the amount of wait time for pick up orders has improved. Only suggestion, bring back the free donuts and coffee! Keep up the good work!
I bought a PC case for local pickup 7/3. Luckily I tried to call for faster pickup. I could make no contact by phone nor by email. Evidently they decided to be closed on 7/3 and not tell anybody.I would do business with Directron if they would act like adults.
Never fails me.... When i need somethings its here at a great price...
Used to love this place whole sales price sold retail. You dont need a tax ID. But they have gutted the store and lost interest in retail. They are focused on the school district business. Leased out half the space to another business. Not sure how much longer they will be open.
I should have posted this years ago, but better late than never.I was in college and I needed an external hard drive asap! I planned to purchase overnight shipping so I could get it faster. I didnt realize they were based in Houston, but they saw that I was just up the road. They called me and said it would be just as fast and cheaper to just send it at the standard shipping rate. I felt like they really had my back! Returning customer for sure!
This is where I get most of my technology gear. Very inexpensive. Best bet for Houstonians: order online but pickup at their Harwin location. Save even more money (no shipping). They even fixed my laptop screen.
Tried to order a part from this place through their website and it was a pain. Website is not user friendly. drove down to picked up my order and the customer service was very bad. The staff member was very rude to me. Two more customers came behind me another black person and a white person. He was very nice to the white customers and rude to the black customers. Which confirmed my suspension that he was a racist. Asked for my refund and went to microcenter to buy what I needed and it cost a little more. but I rather buy it from them then from racist people. Ive already informed my boss and he will be taking care of this when he come to the country after the holidays. One of my friends informed me that I had made the best choice because their products are mostly crap and cheap knock-offs from China.
When I registered for an account, I got a confirmation email that included my password in plain text, which is a huge security problem. Then I didnt get an email confirming my order or letting me know that it had shipped. I assumed it was backordered or something, so I emailed them and asked for an update.I didnt get a response, so I emailed again and asked for the order to be canceled, at which point they responded and gave me the tracking number. (It turns out that it had not only already been shipped but was out for delivery that day.)And today, two weeks after I placed my order and a week and a half after I received it, I finally got the automated email confirming my order and letting me know that Id get another email with a tracking number when my order ships. The price was fair, and the shipping was actually reasonably fast too, but Im completely unimpressed by their IT security and customer service.
Excellent service, and products. I use them a lot and we get all of our packages next day! Thanks again! :)
A but smaller than they used to be, but still a good place to shop. Recommended.
They have a good selection and prices. The customer service is really the worst though. I was transferred to voice mail and hung up on several times. Also when I was on my way to pick up an item they closed early after I had called ahead. 1 star customer service, 4 star price and selection.
I have been dealing with Directron for years and they never disappoint. Although the online ordering system could use some improvements to make it more competitive like Amazon or New egg.
This place has significantly reduces its operation. Hardly anything available in the entire store. What was there was used and overpriced.
Have been a customer for many years. Have purchased several laptops and desktops. Great prices and fantastic service. George is excellent!
I cant understand why they are in business, other than just being greedy mean-spirited people with no function in life. They tend to not care about you or the reason why you grace them with your presence and money. After over a decade of doing business with them, they still treat their customers like they are dirt.
The best electronics store you can find in Houston.
Calling to get any type of customer service is a joke sounds like your talking to some who doesnt know and doesnt care that you know they have better things to that talk to customers.Perhaps they should make it clear that on communications they want email only.
This place used to have more selection and better pricing. Now the lines are slower, attitude is the same, and the overall experience is just not worth the time and effort.
Friendly staff, reasonable prices.
Good soft wires nas services
Best place to build your own computer and accessories!
This place knows how to compete with other businesses prices. They had everything I needed and were very helpful. Why would I spend $35 - $50 bucks for an HDMI cable at BestBuy when I can just go here and spend $10 for the same one?Their website kind of confused me but this place has it all so its okay :)
Great prices! Selection is good too. Wont have the selection of Frys but they do have top brands such as Western Digital, Seagate, Gigabyte and Asus. If you order from in Houston you can go pick up the item on Harwin Rd. Just take your order number and enter it into the pickup system when you arrive.
Only one person can value your computer to potentially sell it and he is always away doing something else. The only time he is there is a small one hour window on random days during the week. Very annoying, but i still sold my laptop to them for cash.
Fixed my computer fast
Meet all of your computer needs at a great price
Customer appreciation day is like their mini black Friday. Honestly, the only time I buy something here is during that time, since that day is the only days they can beat newegg prices.
TL;DR version: They wouldnt take my order, then they did take my order and didnt tell me, then no one would answer their phones for up to 18 minutes past opening time, then they sent me fourteen confirmations that my order had been accepted. Then they charged me, and then sent me an email saying they wouldnt send what I had just paid for until I printed out, filled out, and faxed in paperwork authorizing the order.Long version:Attempted to order a motherboard through their website. Total cost would be $180.Tried to use their payment system, kept getting rejected for not entering the phone number I had entered at least twice already.Tried to switch to Amazon Payments, and their system kept insisting that the phone number I had on file in my Amazon account wasnt actually there.Switched back to their payment system, got rejected for the phone thing again. Then I used Ctrl+F to search through their entire website for references to phone, found the (very small) third field they needed my phone number a third time and were trying to point it out by a very small red asterisk. My order went through, and the email confirmation didnt come. I used their websites oddly designed order tracking system (you can track anyones order if you know their email address!) to try and get them to resend me an invoice. Twice. Failed.Waited until they opened the next day (their website says 9AM). Called. Were closed! Business hours are... Tried again. Were closed! Again. Were closed. Waited ten minutes. Were closed.Around 9:18 I tried and actually got through to a human being (on the first attempt, which was apparently going to be a unique experience with this company). They said Hold on, Ill send it to you manually.... got it? I didnt have it. Okay, well give it an hour, and if you dont have it call us back.An hour later? No invoice or other order verification. Nothing to show that I had even bought something from their company.I called back. Pushed the number for customer service. The phone rang, and rang... and then dumped me into a voice menu saying that the person I was trying to reach wasnt available. So... apparently Customer Service isnt available at 10:18AM!Called back. Got a human! Very friendly, worked hard (called me back on two separate occasions) to get me my invoice. The only high point of the entire experience, and I suspect he might be the only good employee working there. Though he might not actually be working *there*, since his accent was distinctly foreign, but hey, everyones people, everyone needs to work.A day later, I got fourteen invoices, with a badly worded form letter wedged between them (glad I didnt bulk delete those invoices) rambling on about how I should print out, fill out, scan, and email a form back to them if certain conditions are true.I dont have a scanner. I dont have a fax machine. I dont even have a printer hooked up to my computer. (Hell, lots of people these days dont even own a PC, and do everything on their phone! What are those people supposed to do?)And is this the 90s? What year is this? Since when do we need paper signatures for a simple single-part purchase? What are they going to do with my signature? Its not like they have the physical card to compare signatures to.I call them back, push the button for customer service and (surprise!) get told no one is available, and that I can either speak to the operator or be bumped back to the main menu. I loop back through the customer service option a few times before finally getting a human being who tells me that the email wasnt some silly joke, and yeah, they actually need me to find a printer, print out the form, fill it out, and drive somewhere to get it scanned or faxed.I dont shop online to have to drive to a store to fax something.Asked for the order to be cancelled. They told me Id get my REFUND on the card. They had charged me! They had charged me and werent going to send the part unless I did paperwork! It should be paperwork first, charge second!
Been doing business with them locally and online for years. Good service, good prices and also is a Lenovo repair center.
I cant believe theyre in business still. Horrible customer service. They almost never answer their support number and when you get them theyre incredibly rude.I was trying to buy a large quantity of equipment from them and the gal I spoke to was incredibly rude and didnt even seem like she wanted to help me, even though they had the equipment I was looking for. She transferred my call and it rang what seamed like 20 times and then the line cut out. Ive now attempted to call back about 4 times a day for the last two days and no one answers the phone.I should have cut my loses quicker, but Im now moving on and working with another vendor. I only hope their management team reads reviews.
DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.I received my Logitech B530, but the speaker was faulty when I tested it for the first time.I contacted Directron to get a return shipping label, they said I had to pay for shipping and they dont pay for shipping. .Just to make everyone aware, return shipping should always be free on a fault item.I own a web design company and we work with ecommerce companies like Directron and these guys no nothing about selling online, they put themselves first before the customer. Also their customer service dont have any idea what theyre doing.SAVE YOURSELF HEADACHE AND DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.AdamPhiladelphia, PA
Since I built my first pc in 2005 Directron has provided me with the best prices and support for any of the many gaming rigs that followed in pursuit of my hobby. When I need an new component, I always check their prices and compare them with the competition ( Frys, Newegg, ect) and I usually end up making that familiar drive down Harwin to purchase something new. I never had any complaints about their products or service in my years of dealing with Directron. I suggest that if you live in Houston to order what you need online, drive there and browse around their lobby area while waiting for your order to be processed. Usually you can find a special offer on cases, cooling systems or whatever they have displayed. Also try to take a quick look at the free section before you process your order, you might be able to get a gift with your purchase!
I had a nasty virus called Crypto Locker on my PC. I knew a format re-install would be necessary and Directron could get the job done at a good price.Well, the tech support did perform a format re-install and attempted saved my files. However, my files were still encrypted. When I called in to just to gather additional information about the next step, the tech CSR was rude and chose to hang the phone up in my face upon asking to speak to another CSR or the manager. O.o (This is why I rated Directron 2 stars)Naturally, I called back and management, Mr. George, swiftly returned my phone call. Mr. George was prompt, direct, professional, and extremely helpful.Honestly, had it not been for Mr. George, I would have never done business with Directron (located off Harwin in Houston) again! Thanks Mr. George for your A-1 customer service and PC expertise (you get 5 stars)!!
This place sells junk parts! I baught a Patriot 64GB 2.5in SATA 22 days ago and all the sudden it stopped working. Went back to Directron to get it replaced, they said that its out of warranty. I said, I have a receipt that shows I just purchased it 22 days ago. The guys says, who barely speaks English, it doesnt matter, we dont warranty our products. I then went to Frys to get a replacement and showed theit technician the part that broker. They said that the one sold from Directron was not an original part. Its a cheap imitation from China!
I am happy with Directron. .Keep in mind when you go here, this place is more set up for techie people looking for certain components or systems in mind. Although they will sell you the public, they are not really a retail store setup like Frys Electronics, or Best Buy, so if you do not get the customer servicem thats why, however, I have been to both bestbuy and fryy and have had crappy service there as well. If you are looking for good prices, this is the place. Remember, it is a warehouse, not really a store setup. I like Directron. I am happy.
I build and work on computers frequently and this is the place I go to when I need parts sameday. Otherwise Ill compare their prices with newegg and tigerdirect. Normally I find that many of the components are cheapest at directron, even without taking in to account shipping. As other reviewers have said, customer service isnt their forte. If you dont know what your doing and get one of the less friendly reps then you may feel like an idiot afterwards.Returns do stink, but if you know how to negotiate then you can work something out.
Terrible service, messy floor, limited selection. The employees cant be bothered to deal with you.
Poor customer service. If youre in a hurry go elsewhere I got there ordered a single part amd it took them 30+ minutes I was #2 on The list
Really bad service.. They sold me a processor with broken pins. I took it back for a exchange and they took no that i did it.
When I visited there was no computer available for sale.
Had everything, great service
They are ok.
I dont go to any other store to buy whatever I need, everything is here. They have it all!!!
They failed to send the order the first time and then they sent the wrong product the second time around. The sales people at Directron arent courteous and everyone acts as if youre a burden on them.
24 hours smh went on a Saturday not even the lights were on 1 STAR
I haven’t been here in a long time but I believe it’s place where you can get a computer case and other things
This place has changed a lot
They have a lot of stuff that is hard to come by.
Place had nothing to offer
Are they still in business?
Ok
Are there any chance for us to cooperate?
Nothing to see here
Good place
Going down...
Took my laptop for a change of my keyboard and the technician broke part of the case that holds the fan, saying it was already like that, dont go there save your money and go somewhere else!
Sad, bad attention when you enter they do not see you as a client, they see you as thieves
Sale of items for electronic computers in this place!
