The best espresso I have ever had, period. I had been searching for a good espresso bar for years now, just moved to Houston and discovered this place. I was served a bright, central-american single origin coffee and it was amazing. Plus I didnt have to pay a premium for genuinely good food. Their home-made savory pastry was amazing too - and it tastes like it was scratch made. Made my day.

Cute, little coffee place. The inside is completely closed off and you must order through a window and get your coffee through another. There are tables and chairs outside to sit at and you can go in the back underneath the tent if you’d like. Coffee was great... a little on the pricey side, but nonetheless I loved mine!

We like to eat at local places when we travel and spotted this place not far from our hotel. Ate breakfast on labor day and even though there wasnt a seat empty we got in fast enough. Its diner faire and good portions of it! Service is fast and friendly. I tend to judge a restaurant too quickly based on its coffee and fortunately theirs is good, diner coffee. My wife and I had basic breakfasts and agreed they were both great, course I think mine won with the homemade corned beef hash which is almost as good as they think it is!

Normally I don’t leave reviews, but I stopped in today to try their coffee before work. People are very friendly which was awesome! But unfortunately the cold brew I ordered was terrible. I am not one to waste food or drinks but I took about 2 sips thinking maybe I’ll be able to drink at least some of it.. I could not, it just made me nauseous. I’m an avid coffee drinker and I’ve had my fill of okay coffee but this one was not good. :(

So if your looking for gourmet this is not for you. If your looking for a fantastic diner that is consistent in making you the best breakfast, this is your place. I have eaten here almost every morning of every stay in Savannah (its a high number :) ). The wait can be a bit long on the weekends, because its a tourist attraction, due to the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Go just an hour before or later than the usual meal time and you will be fine. The portions are filling. The staff is sweet. And you have to try the eclair at least once and be prepared to share it! Oh and the prices are so fair!

Love this spot. I’ve been coming here since the start. They have great coffee and little snacks. They give students and bike riders discounts so that’s pretty cool especially because students are broke. After doing all my home work I like to walk down to axelrads to finish my d at with a nice cocktail. On the negative note it literally is starting to smell like sewage in the back. Second time I come and I can’t sit for to long because of the bad smell. I would never put that on a review but man it smells and it’s been a while smelling. Fix it.

After visiting the Mercer-Williams house, we walked around the town, and what a surprise when we found the Clarys café . We wanted to go there because of the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, we were very satisfied with the food and the service. My daughter who happens to love biscuits, named this place Biscuit Heaven. I had a BLT on a croissant,it was delicious, gyros were good too.Overall very wonderful food and of course the ambiance is amazing. Dont forget to look around for pictures of the mentioned movie.

This place is great! Located in one of the first gas stations in Houston - the vibe is sweet. Baristas a super friendly and the coffee is at a solid third wave level. They use a great local roaster. Also have a good amount of alternative milk options. If you like good coffee this is one of the top spots in Houston. They also offer walking, biking and student discounts... but in the end it’s the coffee that matters and they care... which is worth it!

Nice little shop for coffee and tea, and a few other things. I had a simple cup of tea. Pretty expensive for a small cup, but thats expected, I guess. Either way, the area is nice and has a good vibe. Pretty cool for a casual date or meet up of that sort.

Review №33

The vibe of this place was unexpected but nice. I had a couple of hours to wait for a friend, so I googled the closest coffee spot and this place popped up. When traveling here, I did not realize that it was actually a bar - I know, thats bad on me. But so many places uses words like bar and bistro so loosely it never occurred to me that it would have a walk up window and only outdoor seating. On the other hand, my Cafe de Olla cold brew was weak and lacked flavor - in my opinion. There was a decent crowd while I was there which leads me to believe I just made a poor choice in a beverage. So I will revisit and update once I do.

This is a great local coffee shop! The building is an old gas station and is super cute - everything is outdoors at the moment, but the patio is really nice! Retrospect Coffee Bar gets 5 stars for meeting or exceeding all of the things I check when trying a restaurant for the first time. I consider the following items when rating restaurants: facility/location, restrooms, staff, and food. I ordered the Ima Hogg savory crepe which included ham, cheese, green onions, and balsamic dressing. It was delicious! All of those flavors together made an amazing breakfast. I only had water to drink, but my spouse had black coffee. The only way he could describe it was that it tasted like beans. He didnt dislike it, but he didnt love it. The staff was friendly and attentive. The tiny historical site was a great stop during our trip to Houston.

Review №55

The coffee and pastries were fine although the muffin is quite dense, almost as much as the scone. Flavor was ok though. They did not have matcha which was disappointing and the wait time seemed unnecessarily long considering the number of people in line. They have a tented area with a few tables which in theory was nice but it was next to the bathrooms and the tent seemed to share smells. They have free parking which was helpful but overall if you want a quick coffee or you want a comfortable place to sit I would look elsewhere. If you have time to burn and don’t mind foul smells consider it.

First time experience coming here- staff is very kind and they seemingly have a good menu to choose from but was not super impressed with the coffee itself. As a native Houstonian.. I went out of my way to try this place and it is in a horrible side of town. Outside concept might be great for summer but waiting outside in the cold took away from the overall service.

I wasnt allowed to order my coffee without a mask but I was allowed to stand right next to my masked friend as she ordered for me. The batista literally wouldnt speak to me like I was the third class citizen. I was also told that I couldnt grab my coffee off the bar without a mask, I did anyways. If you have a medical exemption and cant wear a mask for health reasons, this is not the coffee shop for you. You will be treated like absolute garbage. I will never return and will tell everyone I know how rude and discriminatory the baristas are.

Great coffee, good location, discounts for lots of different type of people. Its advertised on Google as a good place to study but there is only outdoor seating, not really many plugs, and no bathroom. The wifi is good. But also since its outside, its hard to see phone and laptop screens efficiently in the sunlight to really work. But for a date, or if you only want coffee, its a good place. A gem of a place! My friend and I visited twice within 5 days because we fell in love with it immediately. Ask them about the historic landmark!! We ordered the Dark Chocolate Cashew Milk Mocha (iced) and a regular Cappuccino. Both are incredibly delicious, definitely one of the best cappuccinos Ive ever had! The iced Green Tea Latte is also great, a solid option if youre looking for something other than coffee. We ordered the heavenly Janis Joplin crepe with BOTH balsamic vinagarette and sriracha (try it!!), and the Almond Croissant was the perfect dessert.

Went here once because my regular go to coffee place in the area was closed at 1p on a Monday. I was sad but glad I found this place! The staff are really nice and helpful. The rustic ambiance outside was nice for sipping coffee and people watching. It was a nice place to escape my office for a little while. They have fans in back which was nice on a partly cloudy breezy day, but I could see it possibly being a little uncomfortable on a sweltering hot day. Did not order food but their menu looked like it had pretty good options. The macchiato I ordered was pretty with latte art but Im not certain the drink had the caramel shot I paid for in it (no hint of caramel at all in mine- possible my coworker got my order though). Overall the drink was still good and the rustic setting is nice so Ill definitely return.Edit: went here again and my experience was different. The ambiance is still very nice but the coffee options changed, they were out of about half of what we wanted and my coffee was cold by the time I received it even though it had just been a few minutes. I paid for an extra flavor shot but didn’t really taste it in my coffee. Not sure if it was just an off day or what. Overall I would still go here because the seating area is nice just not sure I love their coffee.
