Helped my friend get some clothing here. It’s relatively inexpensive and there is a good selection, but they messed up the tailoring AND lost something for a week, on top of it taking a super long time (turnaround time was several weeks when we went). If you need tailoring done you would be much better off going to a local shop, as they have a super long turnaround here and they ship it somewhere rather than doing it in-house. Staff was friendly.
I would leave ZERO stars if I could!!I just had a HORRIBLE customer service issue with your store manager Emile at your Madison Ave location in New York city. We have our Best Man getting fitted and picking up his tux for our wedding at this location while everyone else is in North Carolina (where we booked).Emile was RUDE, cut me and my fiancé off and was not helpful. The incorrect items were booked for the groomsmen and we discovered this when our BM went for his fitting and the prices did not match.I had to go around and around with Emile to finally get something done. He kept trying to talk over me and explain that he does this with tons of weddings and he would be glad to help yet he kept coming not listening and would not help.I was logged into our Group Manager account, giving him the exact item numbers for the Tux needed. It was a horrible experience with him..Our North Carolina location has been wonderful. I asked for the district managers number, and was also willing to leave my name and number for the DM to reach out to me because Emile was so horrible.I need someone from customer service to please reach out to me. With experience as retail store manager i know a store manager should not act like that and maybe this location should reevaluate who they have in management.
Awesome experience! Phenomenal customer service! I came to NY for the weekend and forgot to pack my dress pants. I walked into the store at 11:00 AM on Friday, Joanne Reyes helped me pick out 2 pairs of pants and got them altered for me. I came back at 5:00 PM (6 hours later) picked up my items and was on time for my 6:00 dinner. THANK YOU!!!
I havent shopped here in over 10 yrs, but i have a wedding in September and needed a suit. When I went online to read reviews of the store several people highly recommended the salesperson Josephine. When I walked in today I asked for her and she was helping another customer. I was asked if I would mind waiting and I told them I had all the time in the world and I am so glad I waited. Josephines sales expertise and knowledge of the inventory in the store was excellent. She helped me in selecting a beautiful charcoal grey suit. Along with that she matched up a great-looking shirt and tie. The suit wasnt in stock but was ordered for next week when I return to have it tailored. I highly recommend the store and especially if you dont mind waiting if necessary for Josephine because she seems to be the person in demand. As far as customer service if I could give 10 Stars I would! Thank you Josephine and thank you JoS.A. Bank for the great shopping experience!
This place is great! Ask for Josephine. She knows her stuff. I have to start working in the office this week, and my wardrobe is all out of whack. But Josephine helped get me ready to look my best, and not break the bank. This is the flagship store also, so they have a better selection, their clearance rack is great, and it was all around a nice experience. Highly recommended and Ill definitely be back!

I truly enjoyed shopping at Jos. A Bank. They have a great variety of mens clothing. For either casual, business, or formal occasions. I purchased a great twill topcoat, and 2 awesome shirts recently. I also got a few compliments from the ladies wearing it. 😏 I look forward to doing more shopping there. Theyre keepers for sure.👍

I visited the store today, November 11 around 11.30am because I had to return an item, which I bought on the internet (was too big, and it looked different online).I have to say I didnt feel very welcome. Instead of just returning the item, they asked me to go upstairs to try for another one. This was obviously, a very good idea and I have nothing to complain about. However being upstairs with an older employee (i did not memorize the name), he was very pushy to exchange my item for an in-store item. I felt very uncomfortable.First of all we tried a 41R Slim and he said it was perfect, but i wanted to try an 40R Slim as well. So he gave me a 40R Slim and since I wore a pullover I asked for a shirt. Then he told me he doesnt have, and I am a worrier because it doesnt make a difference. How rude - it clearly makes a difference (sleeves, pullover is thicker etc. - I am very picky with this)!!! Later he gave me a shirt and I was happy to see that 40R Slim is the right fit for me. The sport code was grey (with small blue stripes). Since I was looking for a blue sport coat, I wanted to check their 40R Slim offer. The employee then said ah now you dont like to color? and the blazer is blue - you dont see the stripes? ... the way he said it was very patronizing - like I just cause additional work for them. Once again very rude. So he showed me the items in 41R slim and said unfortunately they dont have a lot for me ...I ended up going downstairs again to get my money back - I had enough.What a shame, I like the store and their offer, but the employees attitude is just unacceptable.

Went in to rent a tuxedo for my wedding after Mens Warehouse let me down. Was quick and straight to the point. No fuss and no drama. Shout out to Emile for getting me set up and out the door with no hassle.

Josephine sets a new, high standard when it comes to service. Shes energetic, efficient and such a delightful person. But shes also highly knowledgeable and that is what makes me want to keep coming back. A model employee that I hope is appreciated by the company as much as I appreciate heŕ.
Got what I was looking for at a reasonable price.
I am writing this review based solely of the experience I had at this retail location.I was helped by this older gentleman named Gary, I let him know that I was a recent graduate and was looking at some suit deals online and seeing if I can check them out in store - he informed me that the store does not have any clearance items. We went upstairs to look at some suits anyway, and he told me (and reminded me multiple times) to come back another time when there is better deal going on as all the suits available now were $800+ after tailoring. While I do appreciate Gary looking out for me financially (?), I did not like his condescending tone and essentially pushing me out the door by saying the jackets are too expensive for me - of course they are, if you are only showing me the expensive ones! I do not understand why he did not show me any cheaper suits - I even contacted Jos A. Bank Corporate, and they told me the retail stores DO honor the online sales and pricing.3 stars cause he let me try on a few jackets and recommended fit for next time
Delightful shopping experience! I went shopping for a suit here and was attended to for their welcoming staff. Had my measurements taken and ordered a new suit with a few extra items. Very clean and well kept store. Certainly looking forward to shopping here again!
Came in with a slight tear near the elbow of my suit jacket. Robert promptly and concisely explained all of the different options that I could pursue given the qualities of the tear while listing the respective pros and cons of each option. He honestly explained how his in-store services compared to going to a weaver to fix the tear, which cost upwards of $200. In the end, I decided to go with his in-store fix with the tailor, Mr. Lee. The turnaround time was only fifteen minutes and I could not discern where the tear previously was on the jacket. In addition to not being noticeable at all, Robert did not charge anything for the service.Overall, this is a wonderful establishment with associates that are both knowledgeable, competent, and customer-oriented: providing for a wonderful, hassle-free experience.
0/10 customer service. 10/10 drama. Walked in the store to be fitted for a suit in my friend’s wedding. Almost an hour later with no one to assist me and getting pushed from one rep to another I’m ready to ask my friend to drop me from his wedding party. At least I got to enjoy how snippety the cashiers got when one cashier tried to poach a customer from another.
If you look like you got money, they take care of you. I looked online prior to going over there and saw plenty of suits under the $600 range and I made sure they had them in stock in that store. And they had an amazing sale. However, I was only shown suites $800 and above. I get it I’m a big guy. However I go to DXL. I got an amazing suit for $400. And they treated me like a human.
A bit disappointing. Feels old and out of fashion for some reason. The employees were nice and knowledgeable, though. They had a great sale but I just wonder if everything is always on sale or something.For the same money as some of the suits there you could go even to Mens Warehouse and get more attention, more modern styles, and more attentive tailoring.
If you need something quickly this is good. Not one of my regular spots. 🙂
I just had one of the best customer experiences ever with Juan. I went in looking for a heavy winter jacket and he showed me the options in-store. I saw a jacket online with a bit of a different style and he went downstairs and got the last one in stock and it was in my size! I wear a size 36 suit so I typically have to go to multiple stores before I find something that fits right. I was in and out in 15 minutes and the jacket was heavily discounted. Couldnt be happier with my experience and purchase.
I like very conservative suits and certain of the lines that this store carries, particularly the Signature suits fit the bill. The staff at this store is knowledgeable and helpful. Beyond suits, I am always pleased with their excellent shirts, both dress and sport. Additionally I think their chino pants are among the best sold anywhere.
WAY better service than Mens Wearhouse. Immediate attention and determination to make the sale suit the customer. Look for William!

My experience at the Madison ave store was great. I called in the Morning and asked if they were having any sales the salesman who answered the phone stated yes we are come in and ask for SEAN. He asked me what size are you and, what is your name, I told him and he said I will have something waiting for you. When I arrived I could not have asked for better service. Sean was very polite and on his game. I would most defiantly recommend this store and Sean.
Evelyn from the tuxedo rental department was super helpful. I was able to get myself and two groomsman fitted for tuxedos, while also getting her opinion on what works and what doesnt. Would highly recommend working with Evelyn.
The staff is friendly and the quality of the suits there are fairly good. Youll need to visit a tailor afterwards if you want it to look excellent. It does often feel like theyre trying to convince you to buy more (even when youve spent a lot already..)

DO NOT BUY TAILORED SUITS FROM THEM. THEY ARE CUT LIKE A POTATO SACK AND YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!! Ordered two suits from their Reserve line and a tailored suit. Absolutely garbage. Material wAs good, but if you want a suit cut like 1992 Josh on Friends then Jos A Banks is your place. The suits are literally cut off of hefty bags you would think! But to make it worse, i went in to the store to get the tailoring fixed. They simply refused. Saying they can adjust hems and a few other simplistic things, but real tailoring was not their business. I paid $2500 for these suits!! After i refuted charges with my CC because of this Jos A Banks Garbage, they refused to refund the suits. Never received a dime back!!
Fantastic store. I dont understand the negative reviews. I was very well taken care of. Everyone was thoughtful, thorough, and professional. Id recommend this location to anyone. I worked with Albert and he was great.
This started out as a good experience. Get the suit fitted and then have alterations done for a wedding. I was told the alterations would be done by June 12th. After that date, I was not contacted and about a week later I got a phone call from another customer telling me that he had my suit. I called the location and spoke to one of the employees who confirmed the suit was in the store and was going to call me back. That person never called back. I came to pick up the suit a day later and one of the employees laughed at the situation that they created. Very unprofessional. Considering that handling suits is their business this is unacceptable. Seeing as I use suits for my day to day work wear, Jos A Bank just lost what would have been a returning customer until they gave my suit to the wrong person. Why do they give out claim tickets to retrieve the suits? Buyer beware.
The employees at this location are always so kind and helpful, the managers especially! If youre from out of town or live in the city, it is totally worth going to the flagship store.

Ive shopped at Jos. A Bank for years. I was unable to get anyone to help me buy shirts at this location. There were available salespeople, though none who were interested in assisting me. Disappointing, as Jos. A. Bank has been one of the few remaining retailers I have been able to rely on to provide top quality service. Perhaps it still is at most locations, though not at this one.
Had an absolute clothes emergency where I needed help. Robert St. Onge could not have been more helpful and immediately assisted me, got me in to see the tailor and emergency is now gone. Great store, and great customer service.

The service is excellent. I was fitted immediately and directed to the shirts that I would be purchasing. However, the employees try to upsell you which is a big turn off.

Let me tell you, this place is amazing! I flew into New York for a wedding. The event was black tie, and I brought my tuxedo with me from Florida. The only problem was that I somehow managed to forget my tuxedo pants. I realize this about an hour before the wedding. I walked down Madison Avenue hoping for a miracle. I walked in to Jos A Bank and met Alan Duigman, a salesman there. He found me the perfect tuxedo pants and got them tailored for me within 20 minutes. I am so grateful for his professionalism and for the entire stores help. Obviously, I got very lucky. Alan was a godsend and I HIGHLY recommend this store.

Went here recently for a fitting for one of my friends for my wedding. The sales associate who helped out with the fitting for the rental tux was friendly and quick. No complaints, other than the store looking sort of dingy.

Decent merchandise, absolutely horrible customer service. I arrived two minutes after closing to find an employee standing at the door. After spending a considerable amount of money at this store, my onky intentikn was to pick up my clothing i needed for the next day. I was told there was no one available to go in the back of the store and simply find my alterations. I guess two minutes is enough to lose a customer for life. Spend the extra few dollars and walk down the street to Brooks Brothers.

Very tough to find anything positive about this location. The sales people are loud, talk amongst themselves more than to you, and made 3 errors on my suit. They did, however, end up shipping my suit to my address to somewhat make up for their ineptitude.
Two well-stocked and yet run-down stories of menswear. I needed to pick up a pre-ordered suit and get measured for adjustments. The whole thing took a bit longer than it really should have given the number of employees hanging around looking at their phones.

Been in here twice now. The employees just walk around and don’t help you. And they talk about people in the store and gossip about each other. It’s inappropriate and disrespectful. If I didn’t have to buy a suit here, I’d leave immediately.

My husband and his grooman rented tuxedos for our wedding upon advice from a third party. The lookbook they showed us when we visited the store looked great. The tuxedo we selected from the picture was a tailored and trendy cut. We were looking specifically for this style. Fast forward to a few weeks later- my husband and groomsman tried on the tuxedo, and they both appeared to be looser fitting than the picture. They gave off a boxy appearance, and looked a little old-school. When this was brought to the attention of the rental manager she informed us that youll never get a tailored fit when you rent a tuxedo. I wish we had been given this information before we paid over for both tuxedos.Although our wedding was fabulous, and everyone looked amazing, I do wish we had consulted with my husbands best man. He had informed us he was going to buy his tuxedo. Initially when we heard this, we assumed the price would be exorbitant, but it was the contrary. The best-man paid around $250. He looked so sharp in his tux that day. It was tailored to the tee; James Bond style. If we had known, we would have paid an extra $150 to achieve the look we wanted.In addition to the disappointing outcome, the customer experience was unsatisfactory.There are a few friendly and helping associates, but the ones who assisted my husband did not demonstrate exemplary or even mediocre customer service. There are not enough dressing rooms, and it also seems there are not enough associates who are in the rental department, so the wait was long to be waited on. The general vibe from most of the associates was negative. There was one incident where an associates tone and bass in his voice was at an unprofessional level. That instance in particular was embarrassing because my husbands groomsmen were visiting from another country. Its unfortunte that they had to experience that level of rudeness on their first retail exchange in the U.S.

The service was lackluster, the people working there were inept and one member of the staff said something blatantly anti-Semitic to my father and I. I would not recommend this place under any circumstances. Never in my life have I had an experience like this in NYC and I dont plan on repeating it anytime soon.

The worst experience ive ever witnessed by a retail store. They got every order within the grooms wedding party wrong, including the grooms and had the nerve to then give us attitude that its costing them a fortune to correct their issue. Not only that, but refused to answer or return my calls for days leading up to my wedding when I still didnt have a tuxedo that fit me! Even if they offered you 700 free tuxedos for every person in your wedding, I wouldnt go there given how much stress and headache it will cause you just to get everything fitted correctly on your 10th time back there. Now understand, not all Jos A Bank stores are like this, but the one in midtown manhattan is being run by a bunch of clowns.
Jos A. Bank will not get your order right and do not plan on anything shipping to you on time. Do plan on spending hours of your time on hold/transferring/leaving messages all for nothing. They tell you items are available but they are not. I purchased 6 (buy 1 get 3 free) sports coats for my wedding. The purchase order verification came through instantaneously on to my email and everything seemed normal. 3 days later i received an email saying that if i didnt reply that my entire order would be canceled. I sent an email reply just as they asked. I did not receive any verification or reply. After two days i decided to call, no answer and i left multiple messages. I finally got through to the help desk and they could not process my order and could not tell me why. I had to talk to the avs department? I called and left several messages on the avs number, no reply to any of them. After days of repeated attempts/holding/leaving messages, i did get through to the AVS department. The lady allegedly verified my order and assured me everything is now done and my order will be shipped. A week later and still nothing, so i call again and after several attempts i finally get through to the help desk and find out 5 of 6 items are on back-order. One items is being processed for shipping. It has been 3 weeks and i have received nothing but a pain in the neck from these people. I will never buy anything from these people again, i suggest you do not either.
