The staff was friendly and the shop was clean. After I was given a quote for fixing my computer, they patiently waited for me to decide whether to fix my computer or buy one of their refurbished laptops. They answered my questions expertly, and I never felt pressure to fix my laptop with the shop or to buy a product from them. I ultimately bought a refurbished laptop from them, and am happy I did.

Very positive experience! Lizbeth quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem and offered repair options. The repair was completed in a timely manner, a matter of a few hours. When I picked up my MacBook, Patricia was very helpful in setting up my computer and syncing my data. I went here today to get my cracked iPhone screen repaired, and they did a fabulous job for half the price that most places will charge! It only took about an hour before they called me to come pick it up. The customer service was also fantastic. They were friendly, polite, and professional. If you have a Mac or an iPhone, just save your time and money and go to the Apple store. I turned my laptop in to be looked at and was surprised that they charged $40 for diagnostics. Apple doesn’t and I had only previously gone there. They assured me they would be able to figure out a problem and use that $40 toward repairs. The diagnostics took several days and then they told me it would be $400+ to repair. I’d may as well buy a new laptop, but I’m not ready for that financial investment. Not thrilled about wasting $40, I asked if they could wave the fee and when I’m ready to buy a laptop i could come to them or if they could hold onto my laptop for collateral. They said that i lose my laptop after 30 days. When I went to pick up my useless laptop and pay my $40, i asked if I could use the credit toward an Apple Watch and was told no. Which just seemed like bad sales — I was willing to put in another $150??? Like why the heck not? At that point the owner was clearly just being vindictive. I won’t be going back there.

I will NEVER trust a computer repair shop again.

Went yesterday to replace a shattered screen on an iPhone7. Store is observing COVID protocols, very courteous staff, cost $80 and work was done in an hour. Very pleased.

Let me begin by saying that the staff I did interact with in person and over the phone were extremely kind; however, in my case, thats all I can say they provided me.I did a lot of research trying to locate a business that performed motherboard socket repair/replacement. Those that work in this industry should understand that this involves intricate soldering (reflow) work. On my initial call I indicated that I have a motherboard with damaged CPU socket pins and would like for them to perform a 1366 LGA CPU socket replacement. I offered to buy the socket if needed too, and also explained Im familiar with the process, but I do not have the equipment or time currently to perform the work myself. The person I spoke to agreed all the way through and assured me for $150 to $200 it would be done.I brought my motherboard in at the end of that same week. Upon dropping it off, the person at the front counter immediately asked me why this part looked this way (referring to my motherboard). This was a big red flag to me as you have a person receiving equipment without knowledge of what it is. That can easily translate to mishandling of the equipment and the process of getting it repaired. I suppose my concern caught their attention and from that point on there was a superficial aura of confidence about them. Claiming industry knowledge to ease my doubt. I ignored it considering that the person that accepted the item would not be working on it.About 3-4 days into having my motherboard, I called to ask what the status was. I was told that the technician had left a note simply stating that the pins were bent and thats why the motherboard didnt work. Holding back some of my frustration at this obvious lack of attention to detail, I told them that I was well aware of this. And thats why I brought it to them along with a CPU to test the board once the socket was repaired or replaced.Another 3 or so days go by and I get a call late in the evening stating the technician would not be able to perform the work because the entire motherboard needs to be replaced. And that I could pick it up at my earliest convenience. At this point, Im thinking why did I waste my time and gas for something I clearly explained multiple times--in person and over the phone? In speaking with the representative that left the voicemail, I asked why was I asked to drive this distance if you werent capable of providing the service? I was then told that they perform logic board repairs if lets say a fuse blew out or something like that. In the 15+ years I have serviced consumer level PCs myself, I have never seen a fuse on those motherboards. Amps, receivers, appliances, PSUs, vehicle or industry level logic boards, yes. But never a post 2005 consumer PC motherboard...Again, they seem like nice people, but wasting my gas and time like that was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Sadly, Im very familiar with this tactic where businesses say something promising to get you in the door, but no one needs to be misinformed like that. And, if youre going to advertise your services, understand what your people and equipment can actually do.I cant honestly say Ill be recommending them moving forward if theyre incapable of assessing their service limitations and understanding what a customer has clearly asked of them.

Beyond the fact that Patricia, Mike and family are great folks, these local business owners provide a valuable service during these times we are in - in my case, my daughter’s MacBook was acting up. Experimac was familiar with the issue and didn’t end up charging me since the issue is Mac-related (versus hardware-related). They’ve taken steps to ensure our health and safety - the store is exceptionally clean, the MacBook was cleaned multiple times while I was there and distancing is not a problem. The Apple Store said they could not replace the battery as the Mac Air was to old. They did refer me to Experimax. They replaced the battery in one hour. The service was great and the battery has a one year warranty. I would recommend for any Apple repairs.

There was something internally wrong with my laptop. It wouldn’t charge because a piece inside was broken. I came here right before they closed on a Friday and I got it back the next Friday. I would have liked for it to be returned earlier but they had to order the part which was estimated to come within 3-5 business days. I would have liked to have it within 3 business days but it was fixed in the estimated time so I couldn’t be mad. It was a little pricey but they did good work. The women who work there are very nice and friendly and helpful. The place is very nice, it looks like an apple store. It looks better than the other places I visited. I would recommend their service to people I know.

A friend of mine recommended this place to work on my older Mac. Went in and spoke with Patricia the owner, who is a real professional. The issue was my attempt at updating to High Sierra had screwed things up. They got it all fixed and back to me in a day with the High Sierra correctly installed. My 6 year old iMac suddenly stopped working and it wouldnt even turn on or make a sound. After unsuccessfully trying some simple troubleshooting at home I decided to take it to Experimac Houston Heights for a diagnostic and repair.I was very impressed with how convenient my whole experience was. Upon arrival I met the owner who provided excellent customer service and explained a few of the possible problems. She offered a diagnostic for a low cost that would later be credited to me if I subsequently completed the repair. I went for it and on the same day they found the problem, called me to consult if I wanted to move forward with the repair, and completed the whole thing.I took my computer there today around 11am and now (7:30 pm) the computer is fixed and on my desk. I dont think it gets any better than this. I thought the price was fair. The staff was very polite and friendly.I recommend this place to anyone with an apple product. Dont waste your time at the Apple store.

I had a problem with my Mac on a day when (of course) I absolutely HAD to get things done. I had just met the owners at a meeting and had their business card. I called and they said come on in! Im still so impressed and satisfied with Experimac that I will always give them my business--even thoug I have moved out of Houston and halfway across the state of Texas-- they have a loyal customer in me. I took in old laptops and things that had been collecting dust and got all of my problems fixed The three things I took away from Experimac is that since they so knowledgeable about what they are doing they are able to find the problem quickly and offer several ways to fix it. The second thing is that they are honest with prices that are twice lower than what I expected. And the last reason to go here is because Id be satisfied with such great prices and experienced techs and but was even more amazed to find all the employees and owners are laid back and theres no rush so if you ask questions they will give you a lot of time and zero attitude. I recommend this over any other repair shop out there!

Just took in my 2012 MacBook Pro because it was running slow. Patricia and her team upgraded my RAM and replaced my hard drive with an SSD hard drive, and now its running incredibly fast, even faster than when I first purchased it. Visited today because I didn’t want to mail my iPhone 7+ to gazelle and this place was very open honest and told me they use the same service to mail in my phone and would quote me the same fee. I no longer had to worry about finding a fedex ground service to send my phone in. They made it very easy.

When my iPad died, the Apple store said it could not be fixed. I brought it to Experimac and they got it up and running. When I dropped my iPhone in the toilet, they came to my rescue again. It had a few lingering glitches and they fixed those too. These guys work miracles!

I came in a slight panic because my 2012 MacBook Pro would shut off randomly and I have a presentation in a few days. Patricia was simple AMAZING! They arent just good for Apple products. My church has a Dell computer that stopped booting up all at once. I took it to these guys and they were very diligent with it and worked on it until it was fixed. They also offer GREAT incentives for non profit organizations. #NewLoyalCostumer

Don’t really happy with the service. I had a diagnosis from other places, the only thing I wanted to know it was if I could save all the info of my laptop. 30 minutes later, I ended with my hard drive outside my computer without requesting it, and I paid $43 for that.

My husband and I were searching for a refurbished Mac laptop. After reading the good reviews about this particular franchise of Experimac, we checked their website to see what they had in stock. They listed a couple of Mac Pros, Mac Airs and MacBooks. We drove to the Heights all the way from Sugar Land, to look at these items and when we came into the store and asked the clerk to show us the laptops listed online. She stated that the website had not been updated since December and that they had only one, ridiculously old Mac. Seriously??? What kind of computer store doesnt update their website? It is just stupidly absurd. December was four months ago. There is really just no excuse for this. If you are not going to update your website, then put a note on there saying please call for our latest stock. What a total waste of a trip.
