Thankfully they had all the items my son needed. Its best to go soon as they open because they were getting packed as we were heading out.

The worst book store I have ever seen

Don’t buy any book online. Because i had my $220 cal book ordered online. I never seen that book. What is worst is that no one answering the phone to speak to. or even responding to emails. Go to Amazon.com. You could always find costumer service solving your problems. This is fall semester of 2020

I have been at HCC for, four semesters now. Every semester I have a problem using my veterans benefits with this store. My third semester, I waited in store for about two hours because the staff had no clue what they are doing. Now this semester, I had a book on back order it is now two weeks in the semester and have no updated information on the book. While my fellow classmates have their book. The book store took their phone line of the hook so I can not call, I have emailed and no response. Terrible customer service.

Its a school book store. Normally the only reason you would go is because they are the only place to get the item. And due to low sales prices arent that great. Which leads to low secondary or impulse buys.

It was pretty empty the day I went and everyone really helped me out with what I needed. They also check your temperature when you go in.

Take online courses here but they refused to give me a laptop that I could use to complete my studies. Feds have made them disrupt my education. Will transfer for sure. How can you take an online class without a laptop?

The service on the phone is real bad. You keep calling them. The phone keeps ringing on normal working hours, and sometimes awhile when you call the phone, it gives busy on the line ringtone. Its kinda like they are purposely trying to scam you and ignore a specific individual. Really bad phone service.

Do not bother to order your textbooks through here. They wont ship them until after the drop date for your course so youll be forced to purchase your ebook and online access through the publisher. Then they wont answer your calls or your email requesting that the backordered textbook be cancelled then ship it regardless and charge you for the book youd been trying to cancel.

Never answers the phone. Very inconvenient for basic questions that can’t be answered online.

The store hours are different than what their website states and the answering machine also says different hours. The accurate hours are Monday Thursday 10-2 Friday 9-1and Saturday and Sunday is closed.

Process took a long time, which is to be expected the first week of school, but they were extremely nice and everyone helped as best they could. Good selection of items and friendly checkout experience, although it did take about 12 minutes of waiting in line to pay. I highly recommend ording online and picking up in store or having it delivered as the online order line is always empty or very short. Alternatively you can visit another campus location. West loop for instance had a very short line for everything and was pretty quiet.

Staff was very helpful. I was in and out very quickly. Found what I needed at a fair price.Would highly recommend. Cashier that checked me out was named David. My name is David. It was destiny.

Such a liar, crooked, and lazy the staff is. I placed my order on 17 Sep and it was available when I ordered but a week later, they emailed me which says it is out of stock. I did talk with Dana Kennamore about it and Dana said that they can see the order. just wasted time. Do not order here.

When I arrived there I went to the wrong building due to there not being a directory and then there was a long line waiting to buy a book. The place was hot and when it was my turn they did not have the book I needed. The guy told me what campus had it. I still love and recommend this campus, but the bookstore needs improvement.

Staff is nice, place is clean. Bookstore does price match which is awesome. Although it took them 4 weeks to get my text book ( the class is an 8week so it screwed my grade) but I think its the publishers behind this delay. Hopefully they will get better organized.

My wife had a very unpleasant experience with one of the workers at this location and I would take care in doing business with this location. That is a lot of money to spend for books to further your education to be treated the way that she was treated.

To say that school just started, the surly moved the lines pretty fast. These guys were well organized and had a great system. I was kinda worried at first, when they werent answering my phone calls. Yet now, I understand completely why they couldnt answer. The place was loaded with students .

Great selection of books! If they dont have the book you want, just tell them and they will find it for you. Also, if you are not sure what the title of the book you are looking for or the author, their knowledgeable staff can still find the book you are looking for. If you love books, you will love this bookstore!

Nice staff but everything here is overpriced suggestion to new students just get the bare minimum and of course your books and gear mandatory for your classes most stuff you can get at Walmart

This is my second attempt and I cant get anyone to answer the phone! Whats the point of having a phone and nobody answers it? I just wanted basic info so I wont waste my time coming up there.

In the years attending HCC I have never had a problem getting books at this location. I have not tried renting or selling back however. But as far as customer service they are very good

I actually used to work here. Its in the heart of the campus almost so the prices are high on convenient things like food and drinks. If youre trying to be in and out of there DO NOT go on a weekday during the first week of school. Wait until Saturday. The staff is usually pretty chill and they have most of the things youll need as a student.

If you happen to be a student, the library is a pretty nice place to purchase and get your books for classes. If you also just happen to walk by it, and need a little snack, its a convenient place to get it.

Love the bookstore. Its convenient, however as usual you may be able to find the books and supplies elsewhere a lil cheaper if you plan ahead.

I called HCC and I wanted to know about a textbook before I traveled to Central. I live far from Central so I thought this was a better option to call first. I called and one of the employees told me they do have the book in stock. I then proceeded to make my way to HCC Central. Little did I know my a young man told me they don’t have it. I was beyond frustrated because I feel like you should be certain before telling someone. You don’t know how far ppl travel to get there. No one cared and they say it happens like that sometimes. 😪

This is a good bookstore if you plan! Do not go to this bookstore during peak hours to get textbooks and if you HAVE to go, then make sure you order your book online, WAIT to get the email saying to pick up, AND then go. Last semester I did not do this and waited over an hour to get a book...not worth it.

I usually dont write reviews. I dont recommend buying or renting a book from HCC. I had bought a book for someone, and I tried to return it still in the packaging two weeks later. It wasnt accepted, because the return is only a week after your class begins for summer. The book was bought during the first week, but the return date reflects the class, not when the book was purchased. I recommend Amazon for any future students who dont know. Amazon has a lot better return policy.

Well is fairly quiet and is not as busy as the other campus bookstores, they also have Mexican candy. The workers are nice.

Well, I go 2 school there n can find any n all supplies as needed. Very beneficial 2 any student or faculty member.

Friendly and welcoming workers, but some of them can not handle stress mostly during the beginning of the semester when everyone is looking for their school materials and the bookstore is full. Beside the busy time stress and rudeness the employees have, they are all nice people. The bookstore most of the time have the book youre looking for but they are costly.

Ive been a student at HCC since 1994 just going part time and it was the first time Ive ever visited the bookstore at the main campus downtown. Very friendly staff and easy parking.

The bookstore is always well staffed during the busy times. You know how busy these bookstores can get at the beginning of the semester. Well they usually do a good job of making a long line move fast. I like this little store.

I was there last Thursday to buy a book, the girl there mention it might be in a pallet in the back and she wasnt going to get to it until Friday. She mentioned to call Monday. I have called all morning over 40 times no one answers. I drove there from west chase area during my lunch time, line was HUGE. I go straight to the back and ask the guy to see if they finally have the book. He tells me in order to go check I need to get in line. Basically, telling me I had to wait over an hour for him to say yes or no. In that time I have already wasted my full lunch which I wouldnt have minded if I knew the book was there. They have the worst service every where. I have been searching for my book since my orientation on May 24. Went to 3 different book stores I still cant get a hold of anyone to see who has the book.

Standard bookstore, managed by Barnes and Noble. They need to get student and department accounts setup so that people dont have to run around trying to get paperwork just to get their books and supplies. They also need to work figuring out eliminating this stupid 10 days before class rule, that puts people at disadvantage, makes it very difficult if not impossible to do preliminary prep for their courses.

I feel like Im really bothering them when i ask for help. Im sorry but isnt it your job to help people. Why come to work if you dont want to do anything for anyone?

Ugh. Not happy with this central campus bookstore. You can wait for hours on end because of the slow service and then find out your book is sold out... The management is useless and was extremely rude to me, not to mention extremely slow. FYI if your computers go down, it would be nice to let the 30 people waiting in line to inform them so they can plan accordingly if they have time to stay or should come back. Honestly I hope the college book service is replaced with automated machines like a redbox 😳 Three stars because the other side of this bookstore is a cute little store where you can easily grab scantrons or snacks on the go And the order online and pick up in-store is actually quite useful.

Wow, blown away by Bills customer service!So while I was out of town I had my husband go buy all my books at the bookstore (thats totally different 5-star story), and of course the day after we purchased the books I finally got my financial aid confirmation. So the very next day my husband (and our three little boys) goes back to the HCC bookstore to try to refund the original purchase and transfer over to financial aid. Not only was Bill able to do it (yes, with me on the phone forwarding the right documents), but he took such care of my hubby and kids that I just had to give him five stars! Bill turned a potentially frustrating experience into a 5-star customer service experience I am proud to share. Big thanks to Bill, Robert, and the entire Saturday morning team at the HCC Bookstore!

If u get your books early u wont b in long lines

1 line open to get textbooks? Really. I think we pay more than enough to make this a tiny bit more customer friendly. Saw many people waiting in line, get frustrated and walk away. Not to mention they never answer the phone so you have to guess if they actually have your order even though they email saying its in. Might save an aggravating drive downtown if they knew how to operate a telephone. Not impressed. Avoid this place if at all possible.

I was thoroughly disappointed to have ordered a book online-- only to find out that the line for online order pick-up had been done away with, and now there was only 1 line for everything.Previous to showing up in person, I jad called several times, and there was only an automated answer.

They know how to treat people and are courteous. I got a tablet and I wanted a different size when I saw it. They didnt hesitate to help me switch it out for the one I wanted.

As whole, this bookstore is okay. During the first week rush, I was disappointed that there wasnt more organization to getting students in and out. I stood in one line to get my book (5-6 people available to help with that), but had to stand in another line to check out with only one lady checking everyone out. Total wait time was 40-60 mins. Did not understand why one person was managing the register, but 4-5 people were standing around. Will go to a different campus next time or order books through amazon.

Affordable tuition in district, extremely flexible class schedules. This school has been in Houston for years doing good by assisting the community with education.

Frustrating. They dont have enough staff to cover the volume of students needing books. You can try to call if you want but they dont answer the phone.

I would have given a 0 star if i could. I went to the central bookstore today 10/07/17. I got to school early so i stoped to ask the price of few books that i needed for my classes. And there were a lady sitting there i dont know if shes the manager or what, i wish i had her name. anyway she wasnt even the one helping. She told me i didnt need to come to the store juste to ask for prices cause theyre online. That was rude. Never going there. You guys are overpriced anyway. Save your time and your money

The bookstore is what Ive come to expect when dealing with HCC bookstores. It is cleaner and bigger than most of them which is great but getting help in textbooks is a pain. Dont ever ask for them to deal with textbook orders over the phone! I swear the issues with having to fix the problem were more of a hassle than driving up to the store and this was during summer term.

The lady at the desk when I asked for a book has always been very helpful but to ge my books for fall semester 2017 the black lady and man on the counter were not helpful, even when the book was available, the black man told me they didnt have that book
