Wow! This bookstore is great! They have a great selection of books. Theres also themed areas including Halloween, black authors, and indigenous voices. The childrens area is also great and has books for all ages. There are author signing events too. The staff is super friendly and helped us quickly. Make sure to bring a card because theyre not taking cash at this moment. The parking lot is also spacious!

Ordered through Abe Books, “Galveston The Church & The Hurricanes” which was labeled by this bookseller as ‘Fine’!This soft bound book has a taped spine & was dedicated to an earlier owner on the Frontispiece.Obviously this bookseller has no clue how to rate the quality, or lack thereof, of a book no matter how long the business has been in existence.I’m going to request through Abe Books that this seller has deliberately mislead the public and recommend that they be banned from selling at this particular venue.SAD, SAD, SAD…….BUYER BEWARE!

This book shop is an absolute treasure! It’s small & cozy, and after your first visit, has a natural feeling of familiarity. They maintain a well stocked selection of new releases, many times including signed copies of select titles. Very well stocked bookshop with so many must reads. Perfectly spaced for handicap accessiblity and wonderful browsing space. Found loads of great books. The gentleman that assisted me to find some books was very nice & made me feel very comfortable during the shopping experience. The only thing that keeps me from rating this store a five was the final interaction I had with an employee at check out. It was an uncomfortable interaction as a person of color shopping at a primarily white space. I was ready to check out with about eight books and she felt the need to validate every single one of my purchases and then I decided I wanted to get a tote bag. She asked me if I knew it was $20 and was that ok with me? did I still want it? And then proceeded to say dont know why I said that because I cant sell it to you for less. I obviously wanted the tote because I grabbed it. My husband who is a white man checked out after me and his check out experience was very different from mine. She didnt validate his purchases or ask him if the prices were ok. It was very uncomfortable for us because if someone (regardless of their skin tone) has a stack of books at cover price, a $20 tote bag is of no coincidence. That interaction just didnt seem necessary to me. If youd like a very chill and awesome small bookstore without awkward experiences definitely try out Blue Willow Bookshop.

There are various author events held throughout the year. The staff are wonderfully helpful! There is adequate parking. There is a childrens area called Brazos Treehouse. My second visit was as a part of their annual Wheres Waldo search for local businesses. This was a delightful event for all. Brazos Bookstore is my favorite bookstore to patron. The staff is deeply knowledgeable. On my most recent visit I witnessed a staff person guide a dad around the store as he attempted to find a book for his daughter. She spent significant time asking this man about the types of books his daughter loves, her thoughts on character development, and other things. However, this is the ongoing care Brazos shows. I will continue to patron as they are a staple in the community and need to survive this pandemic.

We have tried to support Brazos during the pandemic and order all our books for the Holidays presents through them. Their customer service is beyond suboptimal. We placed our order on November 20, 2020. We have called on December 19, 2020 and they have nothing. There has been no communication, no apology, no advanced calling to let us know, nothing. We are going to order through Amazon... It is impossible to help local businesses if they do not step up to the challenge and they offer any substantial difference or at least the human factor. Could they have called and let us know? Could they have shown some sympathy with the customer? Their online platform is simply pathetic.

This was my first time here and had a great experience! I usually buy books online (amazon) or if I absolutely “need” something right this second, I head to Barnes and Noble. I got into brush lettering and wanted an Archer and Olive dot grid journal. They’re sold out everywhere online, but I saw them on the Brazos website so decided to pop in. Sadly, they didn’t have any in stock, but I was told they had already placed an order to stock up. Will have to return! Other than that, the place was quaint! It’s exactly what you’d expect from a neighborhood book store. Small, quiet and clean. I was pleasantly surprised that they carried a ton of random journals/writing accessories. WHO KNEW CHRISTIAN LACROIX HAD A JOURNAL?!? I didn’t, lol. They had all of the new books as well as a ton of lesser known books on contemporary topics. They also had a bunch of magazines! I only remember that they had fashion ones and a Houston city lifestyle type one. The workers were nice and greeted me once I got in the door and didn’t harass me like at other bookstores. I liked the privacy and time to mosey around by myself. And when it was time to check out, they were super knowledgeable and friendly. (That’s how I found out that the next Archer and Olive shipment was on its way). Would definitely return!
