Two warnings:1. Removing one star for this, even though its practically impossible for a bagel store - DO NOT eat here if you have a severe nut allergy. They have a banana walnut donut that is processed on the same equipment as the rest of their products. I would run the banana walnut first and clean the equipment if I were being allergy conscious, but they are pretty short staffed. They are aware of this and say they have customers with allergies eat there still, but warned me about it when I mentioned a nut allergy.2. Some bagels like pumpernickel are only available on weekends. That being said, great service - I bought bagels for coworkers and service was quick, coffee was hot and flavorful (nice medium-dark roast), and price was reasonable ($3ish for bagels, $2ish for large coffee with creamer).
Really fresh. Friendly staff. Heavy line but staff is great and its worth the wait. I got everything bagels and a bagel kolache dog. Great price and very tasty.
As someone from the Northeast, this is the closest youll get to a good bagel in Houston. While the product is great, Im constantly disappointed in their accuracy. Double check your order before leaving because there is always at least one thing wrong. The final straw was this past weekend when I ordered sausage and cheese on a bagel but they added egg (which Im allergic to). Now I have a bagel sandwich I cant eat. A waste of my time and money. My general feedback is while I understand yall are short staffed, please take the extra few seconds to make sure the order is correct. When my order is on the wrong bagel, Im annoyed but ill still eat it. When you add something to my sandwich like egg that is a huge mistake given that people have allergies.
Very good bagels - but the kind of place that will literally send you out the door with 2/3rds of your expensive order, like they did to me today. Rough around the edges in a way that might ruin your breakfast.
The bagels are delicious! I just wish that they had vegan cream cheese 😩 but I have hope that itll happen sooner than later.
Havent been here in about 17 years because I dont come to the side of town often while they are open. Happened to be in the area and saw it and decided I was going to make a stop for some bagel dogs. They were as incredible as I remember them. My all-time favorite thing here was a lox and cheese bagels. Just wish they were closer to me 😀
Local bagel shop! Bagels are delicious, inexpensive for the area, and staff are really friendly!
There’s got to be a quicker way to get ppl their food this line is ridiculous
I apparently visited the Hot Bagel Shop on a unfortunate morning. Their online ordering system had encountered some drama and a parking lot full of bagel fans were getting restless. Honestly, probably 30+ people waiting to pick up orders and another 20+ waiting to enter the store to place an order. If people were willing to wait it out, I was too. It took about 75 minutes from start to finish. All staff were incredibly nice and apologetic. We ordered a smoked salmon deli sandwich all the way (needed bit of acid to balance the fattiness of the fish and richness of the cheese) as well as two kolache made of bacon sausage with German mustard. Yep. Read that last part again. Glad we waited. $14 includes tip and was plenty for two hungry people.
Ive only gotten the salmon and cream cheese bagel and its awesome! It is soo good and fresh!
Great spot. Always get the order right. Generous with cream cheese spread too!
My go to breakfast stop during the week. Quick, hot (as advertised) and tasty. The staff are friendly and work very hard to help everyone as quickly as possible. Never had a complaint here. For a healthy option, try sharing the breakfast sandwich with a friend. Masks still worn by staff and they do have 2 small tables outside for seating, but no in door seating at the moment.
Cinnamon apple bagel was delicious, hot and fresh. Excited to try other bagels here.
NOW CLOSED ON MONDAY. Very good bagels the other 6 days.
Got the smoked salmon on everything bagel, and was very very good, bagel was delicious as was the salmon and all the toppings. Will definitely be back
Always good. Staff very nice
Fast and friendly service! It was my first time here so they were patient to answer my questions, suggest something. I love the flavor of bagel here! Ill definitely will be back
Bagels are good. Parking could you use some work.
Gotta be the best bagel shop in Houston, right? Pro-tip: get a breakfast sandwich and add some jalapeno and strawberry cream cheese to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Love Hot Bagel!!!
Hi, it’s really frustrating when the employees tell me how to do my job. I work for Favor, I called in to make a Togo order and the lady on the phone told me they don’t take orders over the phone and to go to the website. Then When I do like she ask and go to the website and place the order. when I arrive and go in to the Restuarant the lady told me next time to come in the store and place the order because that’s what all the other runners do and that’s what their company ask. But what’s funny is that they have not communicated with the delivery company on how they would like for people to make to go orders. So she kept cutting me off and explaining how other people order when I was trying to tell her how my job operates. Extremely rude. Every time I come to this place it seems like they aren’t happy with their job and they don’t greet people when they come through the door. Anyways there is a way that the company can call Favor and give proper instructions on how they would like for people to make to-go orders. Instead she basically scolded me infront of the whole store when the person I called in and talked with told me that it was okay to place the order online.
Lovely little bagel shop with super friendly staff. It was super cheap as well. For less than $15, my partner and I had a good variety and were stuffed. Bonus props because they didnt go light on the cream cheese.
By far best bagels in town and nicest people. The salmon bagel is delicious
Hot crispy bagel with plenty of cream cheese. Only thing I wished is that they served coffee...
Food is great, but Ive never been to a place with such rude customer service. I guess Im wasting your time being the only person in the restaurant.
Love the BAGELS!! The closest bagel I can get to a NYC bagel. I have been coming since I was a kid!!!
I rarely give any establishment a 5-star. However, I walked into this spot and knew it was quality when it reminded me of New York. The smell of fresh baked bagels greet you at the door...mmmm!!! I ordered the everything bagel with plain cream cheese and a cup of coffee. OH MY WORD!!! D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!! The best part about it is that they actually put the cream cheese on the bagel for you! Its hard to find a restaurant that will do this and so to get this unexpected surprise was a real treat AND the prices just cant be beat. Deliciously prepared bagels and coffee.
Giving 3 stars because the avocado in our breakfast bagels wasnt fresh and the turkey bacon wasnt quite cooked. The actual bagels were great and the jalapeño spread was good, too. This shop is great if youre a local or in Houston for a long-term stay. But if youre only here for a couple of days, wait to pick some up for the drive home.
Staff name Chuck knows several ASL sign languages communication to me to understand about any order service foods and drink make me easier to understand helpful and friendly. The foods and coffee taste great enjoy it.
Excellent bagels. Reminds me of the bagels back east. Definitely some of the best bagels in Houston.
This bagel shop is so good!! I literally drove back 20 minutes after my first trip to get some more!! They have a wide variety of bagels and cream cheeses and they also have kolaches. You can get bagels plain, with a spread, or you can make your own sandwich (which comes with eggs, meat, cheese, and veggies which are extra). I really love the jalapeño sausage kolaches; they are spicy but so good. Parking can get full depending on what time you go, so thats the only downside. The prices are also really reasonable; a plain bagel is only $1 and with a spread is $2.49. If you are in the area (or not), I definitely recommend coming here!
Been going there for years, best and only true baguel shop in Houston, a bit rough and basic with spotty service but the bagels are worth it, ask for your toasted bagel with cream cheese, thats all it needs. They also sell pastry wrapped sausages and other breakfast items. The new location is better, theres usually about a 10+ minute wait specially on weekends.Decent parking lot.
I have been coming here for bagel dogs for 20 years. Everything is so good and fresh. Their bagels have a great texture inside and out. Im a big fan and drive across Houston still to treat myself every so often.
Ive been wanting to try this place for awhile, its just always closed when I pass by. Today was the first and last time I will visit this shop. Since it was my first time there, I was quickly scanning the menu. I knew what type of bagel I wanted; I was just looking to see if there was anything else I may want to try.I asked the woman taking my order if they made muffins. She was quite rude in stating they were a bagel shop, and why would they make muffins; why do people ask if they have muffins. I just ordered the onion bagel with plain cream cheese and didnt bother looking at anything else. While waiting on my order, a woman came in saying that an item was missing from her order. The woman who took my order (whom I figured to be a manager/owner) immediately started questioning this lady as if she was lying and trying to jack a bagel dog. Luckily, there was a nice young lady behind the counter that stood up and said that she was the one that put the order together and that it was her fault. I swear, the manager was ready to call the customer a liar and was again, so rude. I was so happy to see the other lady behind the counter stand up an take accountability for the error.I wont ever be back to this place. Im not sure how its still in business. When you read the bottom of their receipt, its quite obvious that customer service is not a priority.
Great bagels, get them when they are fresh. Truly delicious
If you stick to the bagels youre fine. The breakfast bagel kolache was said to have sausage in it, but I couldnt find or taste it, and if you cant taste it then why have it let alone order it? No thanks.
This place is a joke. Take your business to the Hot Bagel shop. It is cheaper, better, and definitely faster. They were out of everything they sell and then they allowed a lady who had to call in to get her order take the last two bagels I just ordered. They are lucky they have a niche in Suburbia. If they had any competition at all they would be out of business. Figure it out.
Great bagels, excellent customer service.
Amazing people and great food, eating here for over 20 years. The smoked turkey with chedder, onions and cream cheese bagel sandwich is ridiculously good. I get warmed up not toasted. Yuuummmmmmm
These are the bagels youve been looking for.I went to New York for the first time earlier this year, and had the real thing. Since returning to Houston, the Hot Bagel Shop is the only place that scratches the itch. I tried a few other spots in Houston that were just ok... but I have been back here to the Hot Bagel Shop pretty much weekly. They have quite a variety of bagels, probably 10-15. They also have 6-8 flavors of cream. Their supreme (everything) bagel is perfect - they do not skimp on the seasoning one bit. My go-to order has become the supreme bagel with chive cream cheese. I’m also fan of the jalapeño bagel, which sounded weird before I tried it, but was craveable after. It’s not overwhelmingly jalapeño and it’s very well done. I also enjoy the garlic onion bagel (again not dainty on the seasoning) and the vegetable cream cheese. When feeling extra peckish, I go for the traditional bagel and lox sandwich. In staying on brand, they load it with the toppings and each bite has a good balance of salmon, onion, capers, and tomato. To boot, the bagels are very reasonably priced. Two bagels toasted with cream cheese is under 6 dollars.
If you try this place once you will be craving it forever! Honestly the best bagels Ive ever had! My favorite thing on the menu is the everything bagel with plain cream cheese turkey cheddar.
Very good beef hot dog bagels
Love this place. The lox everything bagel with chive cream cheese is my favorite.
This place is amazing best bagels in Houston without a doubt.
Only place other than new York Coffee and bagel that I can get an authentic bagel in houston.
Great bagels? ✅ Speady service? ✅ Cheap pricing? ✅ Go there and enjoy great food at a great price in a New York Minute! Like the Terminator, I’ll be back!
I love this place but todays order had three strands of hair in it.
If you’re debating whether you should try this place question yourself no more. The answer is yes! Sooo good!
Bagel was hard, possibly i went on a bad day? Took a bit of time to get it too. I sW the reviews online and wanted to try this place as i just moved to the loop and love bagel shops! I asked for turkey bacon because it was listed on the menu as an option for a meat for a breakfast bagel. The guy gives me a bagel sandwhich with turkey lunch meat and regular bacon??? What???
Great customer service and fresh food!
Awesome bagel 🥯 shop! ❤️ It!
Going online to order is a joke. So much, when I just called to place order for pick up, the female put me on hold for a long period of time. When I hung up and called back. She literally had the phone off the hook. Mind you, she put me on hold to get assistance pertaining to their online issue.Thank you. I will not be having a Bagel from the Bagel shop today...👎Bad, bad customer service. Bagels..still the best in Houston.👍
The best bagel youll find outside NYC!
So many different flavors and its all good and the staff was very friendly! Will come back often
If you want a dozen bagels for breakfast, you better get your order in before 10:00 but if you really, really want these variety dozen.... I suggest you get them even EARLIER. They are all out of most of their bagels by 11:30am. In Saturdays and the day after Thanksgiving...
It is hard to find a really good bagel but these are perfect! Nothing like the plain bread bagels you would but at the grocery store and at a better price...win win!!
Fresh, insanely delicious, fantastic value, and exceptionally friendly people. This is a weekly stop for me
My favorite bagel shop in Houston
1st time trying this place. Definitely not the last!! I love how the toppings on the bagels were on both side instead of just the top.
Awesome food.
Been going here for about 5 years, even though we pass several other bagel shops on the way there. We live about 20 mins. away. These are best bagels in Houston!
Hard to beat the smoked salmon sandwich!
After long time I got this good bagel definitely come back
I love, love, love their food. The bagel dogs are so wonderful and their cream chees blends are wonderful, but the owners and the owners daughters are outrageously rude. I wont go back based on that alone. If they get an order wrong, be prepared for attitude. They are colossal jerks.
Best in town. Iconic! The real deal.
Delicious bagels with some interesting flavors Id never seen before
Having lived in NYC, these are a pretty decent bagel. They have all the flavors you’d find in a typical east coast bagel shop but do yourself a favor and pass on the BEC (bacon egg and cheese) as it is oddly flavorless and somehow made the bagel taste worse.
I have been coming here for more than 30 years. As a former New Yorker (for 10 years) i can easily say these are the best bagels in Houston. If you are a transplant from New York or New Jersey and missing good bagels like in the Big Apple they are here. The “breakfast bagels” (a savory version of a kolache with scrambled egg, bacon, and cheese in bagel dough) are not to be missed, and the mini hot dogs are a favorite too. As for sandwiches i typically go for either egg salad or chicken salad with lettuce on a toasted sesame bagel.
I love this place they are the best bagels in town. Even though most of the employees are seeing their mask properly there is an old lady in the food area wearing her mas in her chin with her mouth and nose uncovered.
Ordered through Favor and order was completely incorrect. I listed individually and they put the minis all in one bag! Order 2 plain cream cheese and I garden veggie and they have all plain cream cheese. When I spoke to the assistant manager said it was my fault and that I didn’t specify! Said they can’t do anything because it was a third party order. Claimed Favor did not get the order correct because I didn’t specify! I have my order and it clearly states. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I found this place in search of a good Lox Bagel in Houston and definitely found exactly what I was looking for! The Lox bagel sandwich I ordered was perfect and on point! Was worth the drive from the other side of town & I will definitely be back!!!
If you love bagels this is the place for you!!! We drive from Tomball to get these awesome bagels ! Great staff service and food! Get some and tell me Im lying
By far some of the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with in Houston. I ordered food to be picked up for a brunch I was hosting and they canceled my order 5 minutes before pick up. When I called to ask what was going on, they said there is nothing they can do. They gave me 5 mins to scramble and figure out an alternative.Extremely disappointed and have already found a couple other reccomendations for good bagel places in Houston that I am looking forward to giving my business to!
Best bagels in down. Toppings on both sides. Both. Sides.
I have been going here since the 80s when their shop could only hold a line of about 15 people. There was an understood rule that if the line was out the door, you had to keep the door shut and only join the line inside when there was room for you. New digs almost next door are not as quaint but the quality of the bagels is just as good and the best I have ever had.
Got to witness an employee being rude to a customer today . The man obviously was not good with english so I can understand his frustration when his order wasn’t ready after the company sent a text saying it was. The employee proceeded to use his audience “other customers” for laughter with his rude remarks on how he could go slower making his order . That is completely unacceptable especially when you are paid to do your job . I normally love this place but seeing this customer service is shameful And unwelcoming, I thought this was a better establishment
Always consistently good. Has never failed to get my order right. The bagles are legit.
