Friendly service. I’ve been using them for routine services, State Inspections and when anything has gone wrong with my Range Rover for four years and always receive fast, attentive service.

Im sad to say that my last experience here was terrible, and I will not be going back. I brought my car in because the AC was not blowing anymore and hoped for the best. Got the terrible call that my AC compressor was out and that with belts a new recharge was going to cost me close to $4k. I said absolutely not, I cannot afford it right now.We ended up buying fans and driving the car on a 4 hour trip with no AC the following weekend. The heat was so unbearable, I had to bring it in to a place when we reached our destination and hope they could do something. Within the hour the other place determined it was simply the blower motor out (a $300 job), and it ended up costing me $400 with the recharge for a perfectly running AC. River Oaks wanted to charge me 10X that much for something that didnt even need to be fixed, and I still paid for the diagnostic.Second, I got convinced to get a new set of tires from this place for $900. BIG MISTAKE. Within 6 months, one of the tires started losing air and they could not figure it out. They said there was nothing in it, so the complimentary repair was not helpful. No replacement warranty, of course. I just aired up several times over the next few months when it got low. One day I check it out and notice a bolt, so I bring it in for another check. This time, they repair it (pictured). I was furious when my husband went on a road trip for work and ended up on the side of the road late at night when the tire went completely flat. We just took it to Discount Tire and gave up on River Oaks. Incredible disappointment.Lastly, in an attempt to use my $100 credit for the AC incident (which barely covered the cost of the diagnostic and didnt even come close to compensating for the terrible road trip we had to endure), I called River Oaks for a quote when my starter went out: $450. Just had it done elsewhere for $150.Vince seems to be a very nice, knowledgeable guy, which initially earned my trust, but Ive had one too many bad experiences to go back. The quality is just not aligned with the prices they charge. My two pros are the shuttle service they offer while your car is having work done and convenient location.

Went here for an oil change and to have a bolt pulled out of my tire and patched. There ended up being a screw in another tire they noticed and patched that up as well! Friendly people and honest service!! Decent, upfront pricing too! That is difficult to find these days! Check them out!

Went here a few times. They are ok for an oil change, inspection, just minor things. Ask them to look at anything that could be broken such as brakes or your ac and they will diagnose it with the most expensive part related saying its broken. Do your homework and make sure you get second opinions.

I was here in my Hometown (visiting) and noticed that I started to smell gasoline when my 2009 Honda Fit was idling. My father recommended that I bring the car to River Oaks Automotive Center as he had been there before and it was closest to my grandmothers condo. I dropped off my car and the team went to work checking all hoses in the fuel system, spark plugs, the seal on the gas tank and everything else in the fuel system. They went above and beyond and completed a complimentary service too for me and the smell dissapeared. This was a big help for me and I am so grateful to them! I am new to the Houston area and needed to have my 2006 Pontiac Solstice looked at for a check engine light and inspection. I live nearby and the reviews looked good so I decided to give River Oaks Automotive Center a shot and boy am I glad I did. They diagnosed my issues very quickly, gave me my options and performed the agreed upon services to fix my issues in record time. The customer service was very friendly and professional, and the prices charged were extremely fair. I highly recommend anyone looking for a fair, honest and quality repair shop to give these guys a look. If there more than 5 stars to give, I definitely would.

Had a great experience at River Oaks. Car was damaged from a piece of concrete on one of Houstons finest roads. Went in for a quote and Vince was super nice and walked through the whole quote/pricing process. Everything was open, honest, and upfront. Ill certainly be returning for regular maintenance.

Pros: They can do a state inspection quickly for a reasonable price.Cons: They don’t do any body work/painting so they outsource it somewhere else in Houston. I dropped off a bumper in September 2017 to be repainted and I finally received it back in February 2018 but only after multiple calls throughout the weeks begging them to work on it and asking for status updates. Whenever I called this shop they put me on hold for no shorter than 10 minutes, finally answered and promised me an update on the status of my bumper, then never called me back. This happened for weeks. I remained patient and never yelled at them- maybe I should have because no progress was made without me repeatedly asking for them to get the work done. Ultimately they lost my parts, blamed me for losing them, then they found them, then lost a emblem for the bumper, and then finally charged me full price with no discount.I would never ever go back here again because they have absolutely no respect for my time and took almost 5 months to repaint a bumper. If you were curious about the quality of the finished bumper, ultimately I’d say the outsourced work was 9/10 in quality. They neglected a few spots because they didn’t know how to best address them but I wasn’t about to leave it there any longer.Expect long holds/delays and no one to ever return your call when they say they will.

Not going back to this place, poor ethics. I took my 2013 Corolla to the dealer for its 40K service two weeks ago, the pointed out I needed to replace the front brake pads, polish the rotors and exchange the brake fluids, they were charging $380. I did not have the time that day so I did not do it. Last week, I took my car for an inspection to renew my registration, and they also pointed out I needed the same services, they offered to do it for $250, but I also had plans and I did not do it that day. I took the car today to this place because it is close to home and because of the great reviews. I dropped the car, they gave me a call 3 hours later and told me it was $370, I thought it was a good price and ask them to do it. They called me to pick up the car at around 4 pm and I was surprised by a bill of $537, I complained about it, they checked, and said they were mistakenly over-charging, they took it down to $473.56, which is still $100 more than what he said on the phone. I decided not to argue more and paid. Honesty and ethics are quite important to me because I want to be able to trust the people I deal with, and Id like to assume they are acting on my best interest, I dont think this place is doing that and therefore I do not recommend it as I wont use it myself anymore.

Great shop its in a quiet area Vince and his team are very respectful and helpful. Always top notch repairs by the mechanics and in a timely manner. The only place Ill take my GTI. If your looking for a reliable quick auto shop this is the place.

Wed been having intermittent trouble with our a/c, and our local auto repair shop had been unable to diagnose the problem. We came to Houston for a weekend away, and the a/c went out again(in August!), so we brought our car in to River Oaks to see if they could just do something temporary to get us home comfortably. Not only did they diagnose the underlying problem, but they told us what needed to be done to fix it once we got home. They were fast, very knowledgeable, didnt overcharge us, and went out of their way to help us, even though we arent local. Fantastic experience!

The staff at River Oaks Auto center were very helpful. They provided the services that were only needed and advised me on items that were barely surfacing but could be postponed without negative repercussion. Pricing was fair and service was great.

Terrible experience getting my brakes done. They claimed to replace the pads and shoes and when I asked them to turn the rotors they said Turning rotors isnt done anymore, its cheaper to just replace them. Since I am fairly car ignorant, I accepted this advice and had them do the work. About 2 to 3 weeks after, the brakes starting squealing really bad. I brought it in and they claimed they didnt hear anything.. brought it in again and same story. I had to actually drive it around with their expert in the car and voila, he heard it. During this visit, I requested that they rotate my tires (which were fairly new), since they offered to do this for free. No such thing as free here, as they then claim my Tahoe needs a completely new front end (keep in mind this is a 2008 Tahoe with 75K miles on it) because the wear on the tires is not even. After refusing this service, I take my car back with the brakes fixed.. for 2 weeks, and they start squealing yet again. I just took it to Midas down the street, who said the pads were at 15-20% and turned the rotors. I am fairly confident at this point that they did little to no work on my brakes but charged me more than double what Midas did. Lesson learned. Buyer beware!

Have brought both my own car (Honda) and my wifes (Jeep) here multiple times for inspections, tires, oil changes, repairs, etc. Each time has been a positive experience, with repairs being done on time and for reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

Got my state inspection done here, they didnt try to sell me windshield wipers, and they were efficient. I called to make an appointment and they were patient in accommodating to find a time that worked.

The nicest, most honest group I have every met. A/C blows very cold!!!!!! They knew that my truck needed several pounds of Freon, where the other place just put in 2- 12 oz cans and told me that I needed a new A/C unit which would cost well over $1,000.

I was just there for an inspection, and they did it in a very reasonable amount of time. I was pleased. I would recommend this business to a friend.

Had my car towed here after it broke down on the freeway. Decided this would be a good spot because it was close and had good reviews on fairness and price. I was absolutely wrong... They charged more for a fuel pump than Auto Check quoted me for a new fuel pump and installation. Ended up paying double what I should of because my car was dead and I would have had to hire another tow truck to change locations and pay a diagnostic fee on top of that.The manager failed to tell me that I needed to go straight to a gas station or I would run out of gas. The one bright spot of the experience was a technician named Jamie who ran out just to make sure I knew I wouldnt make it more than a few blocks. I guess I figured if they charged me $500 for a $250 part they could have at least spared a gallon of gas.

Charged $8,000 to fix my car, but did not do the work properly causing it to die an early death. Do not go here unless you want to be ripped off.

As a woman its difficult to find a shop that wont take a advantage, but when I went in to have my oil changed and inspection sticker done, they guys provided great, friendly customer service. No pressure to have any other repairs done.

Let me let you know the reason this place even has high stars is due to the fact that people rate them high on state inspections but when it comes to actual repairs they seem to all be low and i can confirm with everyone else, that the repairs at this place are overpriced and suggesting things to be fixed that no need no repair. lets start with this place does not believe in customer service. They never called me on a single update on how my car was doing and i had to be call them constantly asking on the updates of my car. Secondly the diagnostic fee is the biggest scam that i have ever paid for, the whole point of this diagnostic is to tell you what exactly is not working on your vehicle. Turns out this diagnostic suggests that my vehicle needs a new computer which the total repair would equal out to 1.2k, that is absurd. Ended up bringing my car to another mechanic, found the issue is just wiring on the battery and a switch problem. Ended up spending roughly 170 to get my car up and running again. SO for 150 dollars this place cant even diagnose the right problem. FIND ANOTHER PLACE, HONESTLY.

They were slow, continued to bump my car to do others cars.. my 1 week repair took almost a month, they were expensive, and did a poor job. They also backed my car into another customers truck as I watched, Then refused to fix the dent saying it was like that. I ended up having to take my car elsewhere to get some of the work that was poorly done corrected. I will never go back there and tell everyone I know.
